00:01Congratulations on the continued success of this show.

00:04But indulge me for a second.

00:05I bloody loved Heroes.

00:08Oh, thank you so much.

00:09I even have a memory, a core memory,

00:10of injuring myself whilst running home

00:12to get back to watch that show, which is quite unique.

00:14That's amazing.

00:16And it may be a thing.

00:16You're OK.

00:17I'm OK.

00:17I'm OK now.

00:18Not forever scarred.

00:19I've had a few years now to recover.

00:20The ankle's back to full strength.

00:23It does make me wonder, though, the comparison

00:25between the success of a show back then

00:27and success on streaming.

00:29How does that feel for you guys?

00:31Do you get the same instant feedback

00:32of people stopping in the street going, I'm loving this?

00:35Or does it take a little longer?

00:36That's a great question.

00:38You know, I think one of the through lines

00:41between the two shows is that unexpectedly,

00:44they both became international hits.

00:46When we did Heroes, it connected with people

00:49on this level that normally people

00:50want to believe in something greater than themselves.

00:53They want to believe in the possibility.

00:54And there was hope within that world of kind of sci-fi.

00:57You know, it was really beautifully written

00:59in the first season.

01:00And we went all over the world with that show.

01:03And then with this, we never thought, we were humbled

01:08by the fact that so many people love this show about West Texas,

01:11Midland, Odessa, Fort Worth.

01:12You know, and our eye into like this dysfunctional, crazy family.

01:16So the difference, no, I don't see any difference of the fans.

01:20I mean, I'm just like so grateful.

01:23And it feels similar, to be honest.

01:25I wanted to believe that I could jump over a fence on the way

01:28home to watch Heroes back in the day.

01:29And he said that I could not.

01:30And there was two of you?

01:32Yeah, there was two of us.

01:33I might have had a beer beforehand.

01:34I like it.

01:35Tell me about the work of like Taylor Sheridan.

01:37And why do you think his work kind of, I can understand

01:40why kind of middle of America would love his shows in Yellowstone.

01:44It's very kind of Americana.

01:45But the fact that it does travel and people over here in England

01:48love it as well, what is it about his writing that speaks

01:51to people, do you think?

01:52I think they are achingly authentic characters,

01:56unabashedly original characters.

01:58Honestly, I think that with our show,

02:00there is this dysfunctional family that's messy and beautiful.

02:04And it's not just like there's a happy scene.

02:06And then, you know, they're fighting.

02:07It's complicated.

02:09And it doesn't exactly line up.

02:10But I think that people will relate to that on like, you know,

02:12in humanity, they relate to that in relationships.

02:14And with their children and in their love stories.

02:18So that's that's what I think Taylor does really, really well.

02:20I think he casts really well with his show.

02:23Like, I don't know how he knows when people are going to have

02:25a chemistry or they don't.

02:26But you can feel that in all of his shows.

02:28Yeah.

02:29And I think that his writing is truly like it's like it's mastery

02:34because he changes tones unlike any other show we've ever seen before.

02:38Billy and I talk about it all the time.

02:39And no one's ever done this where you're taking comedy and high stakes drama,

02:45action, you know, all these different moments and putting them together

02:49in the same show.

02:50Very rare.

02:51And you mentioned the cast.

02:52You mentioned, like, the idea of family.

02:55I think on a lot of successful shows, and it certainly seems on this one,

02:58the cast have given each other kind of the respect and space to kind of go to town.

03:03Yes.

03:03And I think on this, and that doesn't always happen.

03:05I wonder when that kind of alchemy becomes clear to you when you're working

03:08on a show that there's something about this which feels right.

03:11You know, I mean, Billy and I met like a week before we started filming.

03:18It was with me and Michelle and his wife Connie and Tom.

03:21And, you know, we kind of, you know, you kind of dance on other sides of the room

03:25for a little while, you know, like sniffing each other out.

03:27And then we went outside to chat and we just kind of dropped in.

03:31And then we just, like, he's really open and honest as a person.

03:35And so we were able to kind of find moments of connection by really just

03:38telling each other about ourselves.

03:42He's also just a really generous actor.

03:44So with that, like, you're always relaxed and you're always, you know,

03:47he's always authentic.

03:48So it just brings the best out of everyone.

03:50And finally, going forward, season two and beyond.

03:54I know a lot's been spoken about Taylor kind of signing this new deal,

03:57this huge billion dollar new deal somewhere.

04:00But I've also read that, you know, the stories involved in this.

04:03I feel the first season was set over, what, like a week or something?

04:07Ten days.

04:07Like ten days.

04:09How much more can we mine, excuse the pun, out of this show?

04:13Where do you see it going?

04:15That's what I think.

04:15I think there's far that it can go because the first season is really

04:19about setting up oil and showing the dangerous cost of that to so many lives.

04:22This season goes in a totally different direction.

04:24This goes deep into the family.

04:26This is like an intimate story that's like the heart season.

04:29And so I already think I know what next season is.

04:31I'll tell you next year if I was right or not.

04:34But you get a feeling about what his vision is.

04:36And Taylor sees things in many, many seasons.

04:40If we have the luck to get there, hopefully so.

04:41And if not, I'm grateful that we've gotten this far.

04:44Well, we've got that on camera now.

04:45So I'll see you in 12 months' time.
