01:08Having recently celebrated 42 years of marriage, Shekessy and Nitesh are ready to make waves in their retirement
01:20by finding their dream holiday home on the Costa del Sol,
01:24where their shared passion for each other and the Spanish lifestyle will shine through.
01:29Although now both retired, Nitesh and Shekessy previously co-owned a successful IT company
01:35and are a real team at home and at work.
01:38They've explored all over Spain on various family holidays, but it's the country's southern coastline that draws them back time and time again.
02:00The couple have two grown-up children that have started families of their own, so think now is the perfect time to pursue their dream of purchasing their very own bolt hole in the sun, working with a budget of £300,000.
02:14After a flight into Malaga's airport, also known as the gateway to the Costa del Sol, it's roughly an hour's drive to the western end.
02:23That's generally defined as everywhere between Marbella and Soto Grande.
02:28There's a handful of well-known spots at this quieter end of the Sunshine Coast, such as San Luis de Sabinillas, home to a great beach and promenade,
02:37and Puerto de la Duquesa with its stunning marina, lined with bars and restaurants,
02:42all offering a wonderful mix of traditional Spanish life alongside all the usual holiday activities.
02:49At the western end of Costa del Sol, there's currently a bit of a property shortage, although a construction boom is underway.
02:56Finding a three-bedroom beachfront property for less than £600,000 is quite challenging, but fortunately, if you know where to look, there are still some affordable options.
03:07To find out exactly what these two are after, we're meeting on the beach in San Luis de Sabinillas for a chat.
03:15Welcome to Spain's Costa del Sol. How are you both feeling?
03:19Great, thank you.
03:20Yeah, very excited.
03:21What is it about this area that you love so much?
03:24We just like Spain as a country, and my son sort of said, you know, if we're going to buy in Spain, it's got to be this area only.
03:31We have two children and two grandchildren, and I think it'd be lovely for them to come out here in the sun and enjoy everything as well here.
03:40It's very exciting. We are going to have a fantastic search, but I'd like to know what it is you are really looking for.
03:47I'd like to see, like, a sea view when I wake up in the morning, a great balcony or a garden.
03:53In terms of outside space, a nice barbecue place, you know, space for dining area.
03:59We'd need a communal pool as well.
04:01We would like three bedroom, two bathrooms minimum, hopefully open plan, kitchen, sitting room.
04:10And in terms of area, have you got anything in mind?
04:13We would want to be able to walk to the bars and restaurants.
04:17It needs to be close to the sea.
04:19I know you've got a budget, guys, of £300,000.
04:22Do you have any wiggle room?
04:25Yes, we could do another £20,000, £25,000 on top of that.
04:30Which we may need to tap into.
04:32If we were to find you something that was a little bit more than that, can you stretch any more?
04:37It depends what it is.
04:39I mean, we could probably stretch a little bit more, but obviously we don't want to stretch too much more.
04:44Maximum, I think, £350,000.

05:14As these two want to be as close to the coast as possible and have everything within walking distance,
05:19I've got a real challenge on my hands here, even with that juicy budget.
05:23To kick things off, we're taking a short stroll to Puerto de la Ducasa, a standout location where I'm sure they'll be spending plenty of time.
05:33So this is a really beautiful place with many boats and restaurants.
05:37Do you two enjoy your food, enjoy going out for dinner?
05:40We do, yes, yes.
05:41The variety of restaurants is really good all around here as well.
05:45Well, that's why I wanted to bring you here because it's all about the variety.
05:48Well, one of the great things is that you could hire a boat here for up to six people for about £160 an hour.
05:55Wow.
05:55So you could actually take the family out for the afternoon, off you go on a boat and just have a really lovely boat trip.

06:02I love boating, yeah, and I mean, this is tempting me to buy a boat as well.

11:44so if they want a bigger property in better condition,
11:47we're going to have to step back from the coast a little.

11:54as it's only a short walk from here
11:56to check out another coastal highlight.
11:58This is such a fantastic promenade.

12:02and, of course, all the way along,
12:04you've got shops, bars, restaurants.

12:38my next property has exactly that.
12:40Today on the house hunting in southern Spain on the western Costa del Sol with Shukesi and Nitesh,
12:55hoping to find their perfect holiday home.
12:57So far, I am not off to the best start, but I'm hoping to impress them with the interior and the space of my next property.
13:05As despite the beachfront location, they felt that the first place was lacking in both.
13:10It was also on the market towards the top of their budget of £325,000, although they did say they could stretch as far as £350,000 for perfection.
13:21We're staying in Marina de Casares for our next place, but heading to an urbanisation just under a 10-minute walk from the beach this time to show Shukesi and Nitesh a property with that extra space and a more modern feel.
13:35We are five minutes from Ancha Beach, and this is the communal pool area.

13:42What do you think of it around here?
13:43The location's nice. The pool's a little bit smaller than previously, but I do like the round shape and the steps walking into there.
13:51It's really nice, actually.
13:53So there are 24 properties within this community.

15:02and the main has a dressing room space and an ensuite shower room.
15:06There's also a small office, another shower room and a separate toilet.

19:18This is called the Playa El Limite, which means it's the last beach of Malaga before you get to Cadiz.

20:07Coming up, I'm hoping to really wow Shukesi and Nitesh with a very modern property, complete with a sea view.
20:18Today, I'm at the western end of Spain's beautiful Costa del Sol, helping Nitesh and Shukesi find their dream holiday home.
20:33And so far, neither of the properties we've seen have hit the mark.
20:36Our first had a great location right on the beach, but was too small and needed too much updating for them.
20:43Our second, this corner house, a 10-minute walk from the beach, had the space and the finish, but my house hunters are really keen to have a show-stopping sea view.
20:52Even with their budget of up to £350,000, I'm struggling to find them the perfect property, but I have another in mind that's a 10-minute walk away, but with a cracking sea view.
21:04It's in Punta de la Chiera, a coastal town that's more residential than our previous locations, but still with all the amenities you'd need.
21:13While it's not the most affordable place property-wise, as we're close to the popular resort town of Soto Grande, I found a great option here.
21:22So, this gated development.

21:25This has only been built five years ago.
21:28Yeah, I like the development. It's nice and new.
21:30So, location-wise, it does have the beach, which is just over there.
21:34You get there by foot in 10 minutes.

21:38You've also got the community swimming pool, underground secure parking.
21:42So, this is a new townhouse, and something I want to tell you now is it's hardly been used.

32:25In the form of this modern townhouse, a 10-minute walk from the beach, it had the perfect combination
32:32of space, a modern finish and proximity to the coast for Shikessi and Nitesh, and their
32:37£300,000 budget that can stretch a further £25,000 to £50,000 if they're really impressed.
32:45My final offering will involve them using some of those extra funds and needs a little updating,
32:50but the location, well...
32:55Before heading there, I'm off to check out a pretty cool place up in the hills, not far
33:02from Marbella, this seven-bedroom luxury Andalusian villa with private indoor and outdoor pools
33:09and views down to the Costa del Sol.
