00:09The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court sentenced the 34-year-old accused to six years in jail and slapped him with an RM8.8 million fine for eight counts of receiving bribes amounting to RM1.77 million relating to a ministerial advertising tender in 2018.
00:26The accused, who worked for former minister Datuk Muhammadin Qatabi, sobbed in the dock when the court convicted him and handed down the sentence.
00:34The court said the defense had failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the case, and with the sentence, it hoped that the accused would repent and not repeat his mistake in future.
00:44The court ordered the accused to serve another seven years in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
00:50The court allowed an application by the defense for a stay of execution, pending an appeal to the High Court.
00:56The accused will be out on bail at RM280,000.
