00:00Ryan Coogler said that this is more than just a vampire horror.
00:03So how would you describe this film?
00:06This is a dynamic, original thriller that has horror elements and musical elements.
00:13But this film is a work of art that is also a popcorn movie
00:17that will challenge you to participate, laugh, be loud in the theater, be scared in the theater.
00:24This movie wants you to be a part of it.
00:26And for that, it lands on you and makes you want to see it multiple times.
00:31I'm so confident of that.
00:33And I know so many other elements that are a part of this as well, a big one being music.
00:37So can you talk a little bit about how music really fits into the significance of this story?
00:43You couldn't make this film without the music.
00:46And because of Ryan's upbringing, he grew up hearing about and listening to the blues the same way I did
00:51because his grandparents were from Mississippi and my parents were from Mississippi.
00:54So this is one of those things that I think he said it's a love letter to cinema,
00:59but it's also a love letter to his family in the sense that so many elements of what he grew up with,
01:04he was able to incorporate in this film.
01:07And they all work together seamlessly, and that's hard to do.
01:10It speaks to his genius as an auteur.
01:12A hundred percent.
01:13What was a highlight of working with Ryan Coogler on this set?
01:18Watching someone at the peak of his game.
01:22He's a young man, and making a film like this requires a lot of stamina.
01:27And the fact that he has an athletic background and a collaborative background,
01:31and the fact that he produces with his wife, his mama came to set,
01:35it just made us all feel like we were a part of the family.
01:37It's such a family affair.
01:40We're so excited to get the cat out of the bag tonight.
01:42So congrats again.
01:43Take care.
01:44See it on the biggest screen you can see it on.
