A black-tie dinner hosted by the US White House for Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Nov 18 night also saw the attendance of Portugal's football star Cristiano Ronaldo and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

During the event, the White House announced that the US would designate Saudi Arabia a "major non-NATO ally," a status that brings military and economic benefits short of a formal defense pact.

00:00Oh
00:30Prince Mohammed, we're delighted to have you with us at the White House.
00:40Very special. Very, very special.
00:51You know, my son is a big fan of Ronaldo, wherever Ronaldo is here.
00:56And Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more now,
01:06just the fact that I introduced you.
01:09So I just want to thank you both for being here.
01:11Thank you very much. Really an honor.
01:13As I saw during my wonderful visit to the kingdom in May,
01:18with the Crown Prince's help, Saudi Arabia's made extraordinary strides
01:22and grown into an economic engine and really a modern-day miracle,
01:27an amazing transformation and all for the good.
01:31This opening up of the new avenues of cooperation between the United States
01:36and Saudi Arabia is really unprecedented.
01:39And on that trip, Saudi Arabia announced that it will invest an incredible $600 billion.
01:45That means jobs. That means jobs.
01:47It's also good for your companies.
01:49This week, we're also signing exciting agreements on civil nuclear energy,
01:54critical minerals, and artificial intelligence,
01:57numbers that nobody's ever heard of before.
01:59Tonight, I'm pleased to announce that we're taking our military cooperation
02:02to even greater heights by formally designating Saudi Arabia
02:07as a major non-NATO ally,
02:10which is something that is very important to them.
02:14And I'm just telling you now for the first time,
02:16because I wanted to keep a little secret for tonight.
02:19I just heard him say,
02:20Oh, that's nice.
02:22That's another point you won today.
02:24But, and signing a historic strategic defense agreement,
02:28which we just signed a little while ago.
02:30So, congratulations.
02:31It's our very important.
02:33But today, it's a special day.
02:35We think the horizon of the economical cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the South America,
02:39it's bigger and wider in many areas.
02:41We've been signing a lot of agreement that's going to open the door
02:44to develop the relation deeper in many areas,
02:48and we're going to work on it.
02:49We believe the opportunity is huge.
02:51So, we're going to focus on implementation
02:53and keep increasing the opportunities between our both countries.
02:56So, thank you again, Mr. President.
