00:18occurred during a paint-thickness inspection by subcontractor Wuhan Construction Sendirian

00:25The department said preliminary investigations showed that the steel canopy was put up to

00:30prevent objects from falling onto the road.

00:34They said the structure was not designed to withstand an impact load, and added that the

00:38Public Works Department had ordered that the remaining structure be removed immediately

00:43to prevent further incidents.

00:45They said the work was carried out without a written permission from the main contractor,

00:49China Communication Construction Sendirian Berhad.

00:52They said they had issued a notice to the main contractor, not allowing it to continue the

00:57paint inspection work on the structure until there is a safe working system.

01:01They said Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdulrahman Mohamad had visited the site

01:07and stressed the need for all parties to adhere to the regulations and conduct risk assessments

01:12at the design stage.

01:14The structure was from the East Coast Rail Link project, with construction work in the affected

01:19area having been halted since the incident.

01:23The affected car driver escaped with no injuries during the incident.
