00:00What was the row over the Prime Minister of Japan Takayashi's comments about a Chinese attack on Taiwan could trigger a Japanese response? How has China reacted?
00:10Beijing took real exception to the Japanese Prime Minister's comments recently when she basically said that a Chinese move on Taiwan would be seen by Japan as a survival issue.
00:27Right. And, you know, would prompt potentially a military response.
00:32So China did what they always do when they feel as if somebody's, in their words, meddling in their internal affairs.
00:40They have a show of force. And in this case, you know, they sailed part of their Coast Guard past what the Japanese call the Senkaku Islands,
00:49which are disputed islands that the Chinese also claim the Chinese call them something different, the Diawi Islands.
00:59So basically, the Chinese are rattling their saber in response to those comments.
01:05They actually, you know, protested to the Japanese ambassador.
01:07They called the ambassador in and, you know, it's it's not uncommon.
01:14This is kind of their their pattern of behavior.
01:16But it's another indication of just how tense things are in that region and in particular between China and Japan.
