00:00Brazil's federal government passed 7 billion reais to the right-wing state government
00:06of Pará for environmental projects in preparation for COP30.
00:11With four days left, nine of these projects haven't been executed yet.
00:15Our correspondent Brian Mir has more information.
00:19During the lead-up to COP30, Brazil's President Lula announced that it would be marked by
00:24the greatest level of popular participation in the history of the UN climate change conferences.
00:30With the Alternative People's Climate Summit drawing to a close,
00:35social movements and indigenous groups are working to get their voices heard inside the UN.
00:41We have no doubt that capital in systems and its mode of production and consumption
00:46is a real cause of climate change. So our strategy has been to externalize our criticism against
00:52global sectors such as agribusiness while raising our flag so that we can at least minimally
00:58insert ourselves into COP30, which is a conference where everything is being negotiated,
01:04basically by the actors who are destroying the environment.
01:09In the middle of a conference that has been dominated by government officials,
01:13capitalist foundations and NGOs from the global north and fossil fuel and mining industry lobbyists
01:18pushing for green capitalism, Brazil's Landless Rural Workers Movement, or MST, held an event inside
01:25the Brazilian government's Jandaira Auditorium to promote the importance of agrarian reform as a
01:31strategy to advance a transformation towards socialism.
01:35It's only through a new model for society that we'll be able to transform our country and people-centered
01:47agrarian reform, which we will go into more detail about tonight, is part of this big strategy so
01:54that we can have a nation with environmental justice, without the environmental crimes that
01:59are damaging the lives of the people of the world. Among the events promoted by social movements inside
02:05the COP30, on Wednesday night representatives of the People's Climate Summit are holding a press conference to
02:10present the demands raised during its Democratic Assembly. Brian Muir, Tele Sir Beleng.
