00:00It's a miraculous getaway. Just hours after being kidnapped from a dormitory in the northwestern state of Kebi in Nigeria, a schoolgirl, one of 25 abductees, has managed to escape.
00:15The student reportedly arrived home late Monday after being taken from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School.
00:22The principal says one other student, who was not among the 25 confirmed abducted, also escaped in the minutes that followed the attack.
00:31A rescue mission is now underway. Security forces are ramping up efforts to rescue the other girls who were kidnapped when gunmen attacked the high school before dawn on Monday.
00:42One member of staff was killed.
00:45It's the latest flashpoint in northern Nigeria's struggle against kidnappings, where dozens of armed gangs of mostly nomadic herdsmen, and more recently jihadis, operate.
00:57Analysts say schools are often targeted by the gangs to gain more attention.
