Parents in Nigeria reunited with their daughters on Wednesday (November 26) at the Kebbi State Government House, one day after dozens of schoolgirls were released from captivity in the country’s northwest.
The girls — dressed in blue hijabs and appearing tired but calm — sat together as state officials welcomed them with prayers and gift bags. Families, some in tears, gathered to embrace their daughters after the emotional ordeal.

Kebbi State Commissioner for Education Halima Bande thanked God for their safe return, saying in Hausa: “Through prayers, God has alleviated their suffering.”

The release comes amid a persistent wave of mass abductions in northern Nigeria, where armed groups routinely target schools and rural communities for ransom. Authorities say efforts to secure the remaining abducted persons and strengthen school security continue.
