00:00Marjorie Taylor Greene is very close to notching one of her biggest political wins ever,
00:05and is even earning kudos from critics on the other side of the political spectrum.
00:09So what's really going on?
00:10Greene is separating herself from President Trump,
00:13but only on carefully chosen issues she believes have betrayed the MAGA agenda
00:18and are popular in her district.
00:21First, she surprised everyone by backing an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
00:26She also called for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants,
00:29and she's blasted the White House's funding of wars in Ukraine and Israel
00:34and torched the administration's economic bailout of Argentina.
00:38But what's even more, she has been absolutely ferocious on the Epstein issue,
00:44calling out both President Trump and her Republican colleagues for failing to release the files.
00:50Now, the president's backed down.
00:53What's really interesting is that I went to her district to try and talk with voters there,
00:59to get some feedback on what they think about Greene separating herself from the president.
01:04Now, few were convinced that she's motivated by principle to break from Trump,
01:09but everyone I spoke with seemed to agree that Greene was reflecting the community's concerns.
01:15She may be motivated by frustration and self-interest,
01:19but the constituents I spoke with said she's listening,
01:22and that's a healthy thing for democracy.
01:24So is what she's doing on CNN the other day.
01:27I would like to say humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.
01:35It's very bad for our country.
01:37I am committed, and I've been working on this a lot lately,
01:40to put down the knives in politics.
01:44I really just want to see people be kind to one another.
01:47No matter where you stand on politics these days, you have to agree.
01:52More of that would be better for everyone.
