00:00In the United Kingdom, an immersive exhibition offers visitors a glimpse of the ancient city of Pompeii
00:08through an artistic journey that takes them nearly 2,000 years back in time. Let's see.
00:17At an exhibition center in London, the show The Last Days of Pompeii allows the public to learn about this famous city
00:25and experience up-close the events that took place in 79 CE, when the eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried the city.
00:34With the help of immersive technology, the exhibition presents a rich historical narrative of the city from its discovery in the mid-18th century.
00:43It features around 10 installations, ranging from virtual reality rooms to authentic relics from the period, offering a complete experience.
00:55We have cutting-edge technology, virtual reality area, we have metaverse room, we have immersive room,
01:02but that is just based on a very interesting and intense storytelling.
01:08We need to make this technology be just part of the experience and make people dive and feel immersed in the story.
01:15Make something that's impossible, in fact, which is travel back in time and be in a moment and in a period that was so interesting,
01:21like the Roman Empire, and in that moment when the Vesuvius exploded.
01:28Light and video projections recreate the entire area of Pompeii and its archaeological sites,
01:34which are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
01:37Among the most striking elements of the exhibition is a huge room that displays various 360-degree scenes,
01:44offering an unparalleled view of this ancient world.
01:47The ancient Roman Empire, the theatre was not just for entertainment.
01:51The last days of Pompeii has everything.
01:53It has history, it has archaeology, it has drama, it has storytelling.
01:57We are really interested in this mix between fiction and reality.
02:01What was real at that time?
02:03Working with historians, working with archaeologists,
02:05and at that time, also in the 19th century, when the ruins were discovered,
02:09a lot of writers and creative people were, like, really interested in making new storytelling on Pompeii, yeah?
02:17So that mix between fiction and reality was something really exciting to us, to go back to that story.
02:26One of the biggest challenges here, especially at the Excel in London,
02:30is the size of the exhibition.
02:32It's the biggest exhibition we've ever built,
02:34so it's, like, incredible for us when now we see the result of how it looks.
02:38London is the sixth city to host the exhibition The Last Days of Pompeii,
02:47following stops in Madrid, Vienna, Beijing, Berlin, and Oberhausen.
02:52Visitors will still be able to enjoy this experience until March of next year,
02:56before the installations travel to Shanghai and Buenos Aires.
