00:00The legal walls closing in around Donald Trump.
00:02The legal walls are starting to close in on Donald Trump.
00:06Yes, this time, Mr. Bond.
00:10Jon Stewart is mocking the media's coverage of Donald Trump's criminal trial.
00:15The Daily Show hosts slam the likes of Jake Tapper, Nicole Wallace, and Aaron Burnett
00:19for their extensive and at times incredibly dramatic reporting
00:22of the former president's New York criminal trial.
00:25In the segment titled America's Most Tremendously Wanted,
00:27Stewart began by saying that this trial will obviously be a test of the fairness
00:31of the American legal system, but it's also a test of the media's ability
00:35to cover Donald Trump in a responsible way.
00:38Perhaps if we limit the coverage to the issues at hand
00:40and try not to create an all-encompassing spectacle of the most banal of details,
00:46perhaps that would help.
00:47He then followed up by showing clips of cable news's wall-to-wall coverage
00:51of Trump's commute to and from court each day.
00:53Seriously, are we going to follow this guy to court every f***ing day?
00:59Are you trying to make this OJ?
01:01It's not a chase.
01:03He's commuting.
01:05Stewart then highlighted some of the more coverage seen on cable news,
01:09including CNN's Jake Tapper trying to hilariously analyze
01:12a glowering courtroom sketch of Trump,
01:15and also clips of journalists at the trial giving play-by-play reports
01:18of Trump's literal movements, what he did with his lips,
01:21how he moved his neck, and more.
01:22At some point in this trial,
01:25something important and revelatory is going to happen.
01:29But none of us are going to notice
01:30because of the hours spent on his speculative facial tics.
01:34He concluded,
01:34we got a long ways to go here.
01:36It's the first day of the first of Trump's 438 trials to come.
01:40Peace yourselves.
01:41And if you're bored,
01:42you can always start planning
01:43how you're going to f*** up covering his next trial
01:46and the sober mea culpa you'll deliver
01:48during his next term as president.
