The former 'Cosby Show' actor will recur on the OWN series after Perry reached out in support of Owens working a day job between acting gigs.

00:00In the span of just two weeks, former Cosby Show actor Jeffrey Owens has gone from being
00:04publicly shamed for working at Trader Joe's in-between acting gigs to landing a recurring TV part.
00:10Owens has accepted Tyler Perry's offer of a role on the OWN series The Haves and the Have-Nots.
00:15The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed he'll play a recurring character on the show's sixth season,
00:20appearing in 10 episodes. The series is about to resume filming in Atlanta.
00:25Perry was one of a number of Hollywood heavyweights who offered support for Owens
00:29after the former Cosby Show regular was photographed working at a Trader Joe's in New Jersey.
00:34The photos and story quickly went viral. Back on Monday, Perry tweeted,
00:48Owens told THR that the outpouring of support for him in the wake of the photos included a whole
00:53handful of offers for acting work. The actor said,
00:59Owens played Elvin, Sandra's husband, for much of the Cosby Show's run. He has also taught acting at Yale,
01:07and in recent years, racked up guest roles on Elementary, Blue Bloods, Lucifer and Divorce, among others.
