00:00In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro denounced the government of Trinidad and Tobago for its
00:16submissiveness to the United States and its staunch support for its crimes in the Caribbean.
00:22Polls have opened in Chile this Sunday as citizens vote to elect the successor to President
00:33Gabriel Boric, as well as choosing deputies at the national level and senators in seven
00:38regions of the country.
00:46One storm, Claudia, passes through Western Europe causing heavy rains and flooding in
00:52several countries.
01:09Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:14We begin with the news.
01:28In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro denounced the government of Trinidad and Tobago for his
01:33submissiveness to the United States and its staunch support for its crimes in the Caribbean.
01:38The Venezuelan leader rejected the actions of the government at ports of Spain, which
01:44authorised the Trump administration to conduct military exercises off the coast of Venezuela.
01:50The head of state described the manoeuvres as responsible and emphasised that they represent
01:56a threat to peace in the Caribbean.
01:58President Maduro expressed his rejection of the imperialist policies of the U.S. government,
02:04which seeks to impose a puppet regime in Venezuela in order to steal all its natural resources and
02:10undermine peace throughout Latin America.
02:17The government of Trinidad and Tobago has once again announced irresponsible exercises,
02:31lending its waters off the coast of the state of Socre for military exercises intending to be threatening to a republic like Venezuela,
02:46Venezuela, which will not be threatened by anyone.
02:50They say they will do this from Monday to Thursday.
02:54Well, the people of Trinidad and Tobago will see if they continue to endure the use of its waters and its lands to seriously threaten the Caribbean peace.
03:07I am only calling once again to all the people of the eastern states, from the south of Bolivar, of the Tamacuro, Munagas, Sucre,
03:25Anzuategui, Nueva Esparta, in perfect popular military-policial fusion to establish a vigil and a permanent march in the streets with the flag of Venezuela held high.
03:43The great vigil and the great march of the flags, I am calling it here from Caracas.
03:50And we stay in Venezuela. A return to the homeland mission plane arrived in the country with 298 repatriates from the city of Texas in the United States.
03:59The arrival of 298 repatriates at Maiketia International Airport represents flight number 87 of the great mission Return to the Homeland, facilitating the safe and humane return of Venezuelan migrants.
04:14The number of repatriates included 240 men, 47 women and 11 children who were received under the strict safety and health protocols.
04:25To date, over 15,000 migrants have returned to Venezuela from various locations, including the United States and Mexico.
04:33This figure reflects the shift towards voluntary return, seeking to reunite Venezuelan families, one of the Bolivarian government's most humane commitments.
04:48Now we go to the United States. The No Kings movement mobilizes thousands of people in the country this weekend in nationwide protest against President Donald Trump.
04:58In response to the White House's policies, the No Kings movement, which brings together nearly 300 organizations, called for more than 2,700 protests this weekend.
05:10The protests are spreading across the country, from large cities to small towns. Organizers are saying they expect massive turnouts.
05:19The opposition platform assures that U.S. citizens will not give in to chaos, corruption, and cruelty of Donald Trump's current administration.
05:28We are told that change happens when you lobby for it, or you call enough times for it, or you vote for it.
05:35In the United States, in Mexico, at least 60 police officers were injured after riots caused by far-right extramester in the capital, Socalo.
05:44The self-titled March of Generation C traveled through the Mexican capital to the vicinity of the national executive headquarters, where several participants threw objects that destroyed public furniture, and in some places broke down the security fence set up by police forces.
06:02In this regard, sectors have denounced that the protest, which was called under the products of denouncing insecurity, has received funding from national and international ultra-conservative groups.
06:14In this sense, political and social youth movements have distanced themselves from the mobilization, asserting that its objective is to destabilize the country.
06:25Now we go to Argentina.
06:32The Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires reported that the people injured by the explosion in Ezeiza are out of danger.
06:41The Health Authority reported that the eight people who were injured, six are recovering well and to remain in stable condition without complications.
06:51Also, clinics and hospitals in Buenos Aires reported 15 people with minor injuries due to the explosion.
06:57In addition, the Buenos Aires authority highlighted the coordinated efforts between hospitals and emergency systems to provide assistance to those affected by the explosion, which occurred Friday night at a chemical factory in the Ezeiza industrial park in Buenos Aires.
07:21Meanwhile, in Haiti, the Association of Volunteers for the Reintegration of Detainees issued an urgent appeal, denouncing the precarious health and living conditions within the penitentiary system.
07:34The organization also raised alarm about the lack of legal assistance, pointing out that 85% of inmates remain in pretrial detention without their cases having been resolved in court.
07:48Currently, the prison houses 841 inmates, 30 women, 16 minors and 795 men.
07:55Of this total, only 122 have been trialed, which is evidence of a serious backlog in the judicial process.
08:04The situation in Haiti's prisons have become critical with 50 deaths of inmates in just three months, reflecting the extreme conditions in which the inmates live.
08:16And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and much more.

09:30Eight candidates are competing for the presidency with a member of the Communist Party and candidate of the ruling left-wing coalition, Janet Hara, leading the intention polls.
09:42If no presidential candidate obtains more than 50% of the valid votes cast this Sunday, a second runoff election will be held on December 14th.
09:53Parliamentary elections are also underway to renew all 155 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and also elect senators in several regions.
10:03Let's take a look at the trajectory of the presidential candidate for the governing unity for Chile coalition, Janet Hara, who is the flag bearer for the eight left-wing social democratic and progressive parties, as well as the Christian Democrats.
10:25Hara was born in 1974 in Santiago de Chile.
10:29She was undersecretary of Social Security during Michelle Bachelet's second term overseeing key reforms in pensions and Social Security.
10:38In March 2022, with the arrival of President Gabriel Boric to power, she was appointed Minister of Labour and Social Security.
10:48Among her most notable contributions is the implementation of the 40-hour work-a-week law, approved in 2023.
10:57Her political career has been strongly linked to the defence of social and labour rights.
11:07And for his part, José Antonio Caste-Rest is the candidate for the Republican Party.
11:14A 59-year-old lawyer, Caste has also represented Chile's conservative right at the presidential polls in 2017 and 2021.
11:24He has been the representative of two districts in the metropolitan region, number 24 from 2014 to 2018 and number 30 for three consecutive terms.
11:36Among his political proposals are greater support for the police, a prison reform that seeks to tighten state control in prisons,
11:45and a commitment to the northern region to reinforce security along its borders.
11:56Now we go to Ecuador.
11:58Over 13 million citizens are called to take part in the referendum and popular consultation.
12:04In this consultation, voters must make a decision regarding four proposals that put at risk national sovereignty, political representation and acquired rights.
12:15The points include a constituent process that would allow for the drafting of a new constitution, the return of foreign military bases, the reduction in the number of legislators and public funding for political parties.
12:29According to official statistics, around 118,000 members of the police and armed forces will be deployed nationwide to ensure the proper conduct of the elections.
12:42In this context, authorities of the National Electoral Council of Ecuador launched overseas voting for the 2025 popular consultation and referendum.

13:09Ecuadorians residing in Oceania, Europe and Asia will be the first to vote, followed by those in Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa.
13:18The last to vote will be those residing in the United States, according to Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld.
13:25The Foreign Minister and Vice President of the CNE emphasized the importance of citizens living abroad participating in decisions on important issues.
13:35In other topics, in Honduras, the presidential candidate for the liberty and refundation party, Enrique Moncada, predicted another victory for her party in the elections of November 30.
13:56But from the Department of Olancho, the presidential candidate highlighted the government of Xiomara Castro, while emphasizing the need to continue on the path of national refoundation in order to continue building a more democratic and socialist state.
14:12In turn, Moncada denounced the plans of Honduran oligarchy to steal the elections in order to reimpose the government that turned Honduras into an anarchist state for over 12 years.
14:25In this sense, she assured that the Libre Party will continue to defend the election results to guarantee the transparency of the democratic process.
14:34We are on the eve of the general election, and you, just like me, know that there is where we are going to define our destiny for the next four years.
15:03What is the support we have and what is our history?
15:10Today, we are building a new victory on a government with unprecedented results in Honduras.
15:20The one of the first woman of Xiomara Castro, the government of the people's power, the government of the resistance.
15:35I know that there are leaders from three municipalities here, and I am going to ask to those three municipalities, is there work in Olancho in three and a half, in almost four years of government?

16:45The supplies will be distributed in the areas most affected by the national disaster, which, although it did not cause any fatalities, left hundreds of homes completely destroyed in its wake.
16:58During the reception, China stated that the government and people of China expressed their deep solidarity with the victims.

17:35The emergency services in Monmouth, Wales, launched a massive response following the declaration.
17:42For their part, the Fire and Rescue Service reported that teams are working intensively on rescue, evacuation and assistance efforts for the most affected.
17:53Meanwhile, residents are being relocated to safe areas and authorities described the situation as a devastating warning that the continuous rise in water levels poses a serious threat to the population and their properties.
18:16While in Britain, rescue workers were organizing evacuations in Portugal, Tropical Storm Claudia caused three deaths and more than 20 wounded.

18:52The situation keeps alert orange in several regions of Portugal, a country that has already recorded more than 3,300 incidents caused by the storm.
19:04This adverse weather situation for which we have been urging people to take self-protection measures, according to IPMA, will persist until the end of the second day and then gradually the situation will improve.
19:30In other topics, in France, two major television networks went off the air due to a bomb threat that led to evacuations and police deployments.
19:40An individual called a police station claiming that he had placed an explosive device in the building of the media company where the television networks BFMTV and RMC are based and threatened to blow up the place.
19:56In this context, police rushed to the scene, evacuated the staff and conducted several inspections, but found no bomb.
20:04The authorities stated that if the person responsible for the message is found, they could face up to two years in prison and a heavy fine.
20:14Let's recall that this threat came two days after France commemorated the attacks of November 13, 2015, in which 132 were killed.
20:26According to the Minister of the Interior, six terrorist attacks have been thwarted in the country so far in 2025.
20:34And let's go to Macedonia. Thousands of people marched in Shkopi, the capital of North Macedonia, to demand justice for the 63 victims who died in a nightclub fire last March.
20:52This demonstration took place prior to the trial of 34 individuals and three companies accused of the incident classified as the deadliest fire in the country's history.
21:03The disaster took place on March 16 at the Pulse Club in the eastern city of Khoshani, where a concert ended in the death of 63 people and left at least 200 injured.
