This is the story of Sergant Siwash.

00:00In the 1940s, a young Marine was in the Netherlands getting ready to go into the Pacific Theater to fight.
00:04In the Netherlands, he was at a bar, and they were playing poker.
00:06And the Marines won all the money from the locals.
00:08And locals were like, here's my prize duck.
00:10And put it in the middle of the table.
00:12He's like, all right, I'm going to win this duck.
00:13So he wins a duck.
00:14He brings it with him.
00:15This duck participates in four amphibious landings in the Pacific,
00:18including the amphibious landing of Tarawa,
00:21which is like one of the deadliest battles in the Pacific of World War II.
00:25The duck survived?
00:26Oh, yeah.
00:27He ends up getting the rank of sergeant.
00:28Sergeant Seawash is his name.
00:30Apparently, the duck got in a fight with the Japanese rooster
00:33during one of the amphibious landings
00:35and beat this Japanese rooster in a fight
00:37and ended up getting a military medal.
