NEVER say this word in BOOTCAMP or you will regret it...
Transcript
00:00In the U.S. Marine Corps, saying this one word can destroy a recruit's life.
00:04Most people don't know this, but in boot camp, there are words you simply cannot say.
00:08When new recruit Tom accidentally dropped his rifle during drill, the entire platoon froze.
00:13The drill instructor turned, eyes locked on Tom, and demanded,
00:16Who dropped their rifle?
00:18Tom answered, Sir, I dropped my rifle, sir.
00:20He was ordered to do 50 push-ups.
00:22At first glance, this looked like just a normal punishment.
00:24Until the drill instructor asked again, even louder.
00:27Tom repeated,
00:28I did, Sir, another 50 push-ups.
00:30A third time, the question came,
00:32Who dropped their rifle, and why are you still making this hard?
00:37Tom, confused and sweating, gave the same answer.
00:40I dropped it, Sir.
00:40This time, 100 push-ups.
00:42By then, his arms were shaking, his body giving out.
00:45But why did this happen?
00:46You see, Tom repeated a mistake over and over again.
00:49He kept saying the word I.
00:50In boot camp, there is no I.
00:51Only this recruit, because the unit comes before the self.
