AMBULANCE DELAY IN TOBAGO

Tobago's 2025/2026 Cruise Ship Season which officially commenced on Friday hit a snag, as a tourist who disembarked the Azamara Quest cruise liner suffered a medical emergency at Pigeon Point Beach, but there was  a delay in the arrival of an ambulance. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:06we have a situation here with our visitor right 45 minutes now and we can't hear ambulance like

00:13that is grace right and this is in pigeon point so how far our ambulance is from pigeon point

00:27and we can't see ambulance police security officers at pigeon point beach and lifeguards gathered

00:34around the male visitor who suffered a medical emergency in the water and was brought to show

00:40cpr was rendered by a lifeguard on hand an ambulance later arrived and the visitor was rushed to the

00:48general hospital this was confirmed by cruise ship agent charles cavallo who said an investigation

00:55into the matter has started but if it really took that length of time to get there that's what we

01:01are told by the video so i'm investigating that right or to see whether or not that it really took that

01:07long to get there so what i can say that he was picked up by an ambulance and took and taken to the

01:14hospital in scarborough there for observation mr cavallo said the patient's wife returned to the

01:22vessel after he received the treatment wife went back on the ship so she she's all right and she's

01:28satisfied so as far as i understand she she had no reason for staying with him at the hospital and she

01:34went back to the ship all right you know what time so that in itself that in itself means i say that she

01:38didn't really have any serious concern of staying with him in the hospital shortly before 4 pm on friday the

01:46visitor returned to the vessel and is in good health the azamara quest cruise liner made its maiden call to

01:54tobago on friday morning marking the first of 41 scheduled cruise ship calls expected between friday and april
