00:00The election outcomes in Virginia and New Jersey were unfortunately predictable.
00:05They went against the party in power.
00:06Probably not going to be very illustrative of next year's midterms.
00:11The election in New York is one that is not only lamentable, but tragic.
00:15Because someone like Mamdani, Mamdani himself, represents not just a toxic, but a very dangerous coalition.
00:24And it's the coalition between neo-Marxists and Islamists.
00:28That combination is one that our friends in Europe know all too well.
00:32And it has arrived in the United States with the election of Mamdani as mayor of New York.
00:37That's probably going to be illustrative of where the Democratic Party goes.
00:42The Democratic Party a year ago, I thought might go either way.
00:46It might go the way of the radicals like Mamdani, AOC, or it might go the way of people like Chuck Schumer.
00:53I disagree with all of their politics.
00:55It would be better for America if the Democratic Party gravitated toward the center left.
01:01But I think they're making their choices clear.
01:04Now, as a conservative, I relish that in a political sense.
01:08Because I have so much confidence in our ideas and our ability to advocate for our ideas in contrast with the toxicity of the Mamdani-AOC coalition.
01:18But also have to observe, we must not have conceit in that.
01:23We must not be overconfident.
01:25We have to not only go win that battle of ideas, we have to go show the American voter that when these ideas percolate up to the national scene in the 2028 presidential election,
01:37that Americans understand the damage wrought by those policies.
01:41In other words, we have to constantly close the sale for the American people so that they don't flirt with these questions.
01:48The reason this is important is because Mamdani did do something well purely on a political level.
01:54And that was talking about the housing crisis in New York City.
01:58And sometimes conservative friends say conservatives shouldn't talk about the housing affordability crisis.
02:05To that, I say hogwash.
02:07There is a housing affordability crisis.
02:09And until and unless we as conservatives start talking about that and inserting our policies rooted in limited government and free enterprise, among some others, we're going to lose.
