00:10you to the Toyota Helix Ranger. An exciting vehicle that has been converted from the original

00:15$1000 pickup truck into a 7-seater SUV. The Helix Ranger, as it is known in Indonesia,

00:23is based on the chassis of the small, affordable and versatile Helix Champ,

00:27which Toyota introduced to the Asian market last year.

00:33Originally designed as a pickup truck, the chassis offers the possibility of installing

00:37various superstructures behind the cab. In its standard version, the Helix Champ costs the

00:43equivalent of around €12,000. A real bargain for such a versatile vehicle. Now, a company called

00:51New Armada, which specializes in buses, has introduced an interesting conversion, the

00:567-seater SUV. This particular conversion was unveiled at the Indonesia International Autosau

01:03earlier this year. The new design adds two rows of seats, giving a total of seven people space.

01:11Three seats in the middle row and two more in the rear provide for the increased passenger capacity.

01:16The rear structure was designed to seamlessly continue the lines of the angular driver's cab.

01:26The roof was even extended slightly over the top to create a harmonious shape that does not look

01:31like a subsequent modification. At 4 meters and 88 centimeters long, comparable to the size of a

01:40Ford Maverick. The interior is a bit cramped, especially in the middle and rear Rosa seats.

01:48Nevertheless, the converted Toyota fulfills its purpose as an affordable and functional vehicle.

01:54The drivetrain is available with a choice of a petrol or a diesel engine.

01:59The latter produces 148 horsepower and drives the rear wheels exclusively.

02:04Interestingly for car enthusiasts, there is an optional 5-speed manual transmission,

02:11although many will probably prefer the 6-speed automatic due to the rather modest driving dynamics.

02:16The small wheels and the boxy body do not allow for sporty expectations.

02:22However, the Helix Ranger SUV is ideally suited for urban and practical use.

02:28New Armada is taking care of the SUV conversion, while Toyota itself will distribute the Helix Ranger

02:33via its dealer network in Indonesia.

02:37The market launch is planned for 2025 and it will be exciting to see how this practical

02:417-seater is received there.
