00:00A team that's playing much better as of late happens to be Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
00:06They were seven and a half point home favorites over Stanford.
00:09They got the win, but no cover 20 to 15 over the Cardinal.
00:14But this is a team that has shown more consistency.
00:17Bill Belichick came out today and said that he's focused on ACC opponents.
00:22He's not focused now on the current opening in the NFL with the New York Giants.
00:27He's been mentioned as being a potential candidate.
00:31What do you feel about North Carolina and big picture about Bill Belichick?
00:35Will he, in fact, be in college football next season?
00:38You know, I think he is.
00:40I think he will.
00:41I think he sees now that he's got it's almost like he's got something to prove.
00:45Because when the first game or two came about, I said, where's his heart?
00:49What's he doing at North Carolina?
00:51Doesn't seem to have his total commitment to that program or the motivations not there.
00:57And yet I've watched the way he's played.
01:00And I've always had a saying, when you turn around a bad program, it starts out, you lose
01:05big, then you lose close, then you win close, and then you win big.
01:10Well, he's gone through all those phases until now.
01:13He's winning close.
01:14And he's really got a chance to shock everybody and get to a bowl game.
01:18So I think he sees light at the end of the tunnel.
01:22Such a bad start.
01:23But I think he also sees light at the end of the tunnel.
01:25And I got a feeling, just as a matter of pride and a matter of to prove it to others, that
01:31they're going to go out there and get this program turned around.
01:34They have won two straight.
01:36They do have the ability.
01:37They play Wake Forest this weekend and have the ability to win maybe five straight down
01:42the stretch.
01:43There are four and five overall right now.
01:45Two more wins and they become bowl eligible.
01:47And you would think that at least in year number one, getting to a bowl, reading out the
01:52players that fit the scheme and don't fit the scheme, potentially the biggest progression
01:57we talk about a first-year head coach happens to be from year one to year number two.
02:02So that program then is set up for success in 2026.
02:07And coach, they're doing it in the interior, right?
02:10They're running the football better, playing better sound defense.
02:13And that's all you can ask for in respect to the second half of the regular season.
02:18And they're trending.
02:20You know, if you go five and five or you're sitting at four and five and you've lost three
02:25out of your last four, then you're heading in the wrong direction.
02:27But they're winning now.
02:29They're moving in that right direction.
02:30Like I mentioned, lose big, lose close, win close.
02:34And they have gone through those phases, lost a couple of games, really, on the goal line
02:39that they should have won.
02:40And it would have even been bigger now.
02:42So really, I think they're trending in that direction.
02:45And he knows how to win football games.
02:46He knows how to build a football program.
02:48He's now, I think, got his program committed.
02:52He's committed, got his staff.
02:54And I'll be anxious to see how it finishes out.
02:56Because whether they get to a bowl game or not, they're trending.
03:00They're trending in the right direction.
03:02They're moving that program where they want it to go.
03:05And we'll see how it plays out.
03:06Winners of two of the last three.
03:08And North Carolina will be, in fact, bowl eligible for 2025, a program that's looking
03:14to become bowl eligible.
03:16Went on the road last weekend into Death Valley with Florida State.
03:19Coach, they were catching basically two points in that matchup.
03:23They went into Death Valley.
03:24The defense fell apart in the second half.
03:27They only put up 10 points.
03:28Couldn't run the football effectively.
03:30They lose it by 14 points.
03:32And now, Mike Norvell is facing the hot seat rumors yet again.
03:37Give me your thoughts about that performance last Saturday night.
03:40And where does Florida State go from here?
03:42You know, they're so inconsistent.
03:45One week, they can't play defense.
03:47The next week, they can't play offense.
03:49Even though they lead the nation or top three in total offense, they go up against a Duke
03:54team that gave up.
03:55How many points did Duke give up last week to Clemson?
03:58And although they still won, and they come out and get 10 points.
04:02That's all they can get is 10 points, 110 yards rushing, 250 passing.
04:07And that's what they hang their hat on.
04:09And so, one week, it's bad defense.
04:11One week, it's bad offense.
04:13I think I saw in the press conference where Mike Norvell is saying, we're going to win
04:17a championship.
04:18I really think he's pleading his case.
04:20He's pleading his case.
04:21Hang on.
04:22Next year, we got it.
04:24But I think they're still concerned with the program, not wanting to fire their head coach.
