00:34ein roter, forsaken Ort,
00:36in dem Survival demanden Grief, Cunning, und eine wille zu kämpfen.
00:41Rho will niemals zurück,
00:43weil Stopping bedeutet ihn immer wieder zu verlieren.
00:48Hier wird nur ein kleines Blimps,
00:51was in der Full-Game ist,
00:52mit 13 Biomes und über 30 Enemy-Types,
00:55zu challenge euch.
01:01Right now, Rho is heading into a biome
01:03we call the Meadows of Delusion.
01:06It's early in the game,
01:07so it's a good place to get the hang
01:09of Deck-Building,
01:10Combat-Strategy
01:11und some of our other unique mechanics.
01:15From here, we will head over
01:16to the side-Quest,
01:17titled Balancing the Scales.
01:19And this quest actually has a little twist
01:22we will get into later.
01:24For now, you just need to know
01:25that you are helping a suffering fish
01:27recover its missing scales.
01:29To find them,
01:30you will explore the biome
01:32and fight enemies in turn-based,
01:34grid-based battles.
01:35The core of the Death Howl experience.
01:41Start by placing Rho on the grid.
01:43Identify the enemies you will face
01:45and think about the possible opening moves
01:47before you lock it in.
01:50From here on,
01:51every turn counts.
01:53Each turn,
01:54you and your opponents
01:55take actions on the tactical grid.
01:58Every mana point moves Rho one square
02:00or you can spend it to play cards from your deck.
02:03You decide whether to act right away
02:05or hold your position to avoid danger.
02:09Step into the enemy's attack range
02:10and they will use their own tricks against you.
02:16Gloom Krog,
02:17this frog-like creature,
02:18can lash out with its tank
02:19and pull you in.
02:21Slop Slug can poison Rho
02:23and hide behind its shell
02:24to block your attacks.
02:28Like any game with souls-like elements,
02:30Death Howl is about learning enemy patterns.
02:32Every fight teaches you something
02:35about your enemies,
02:36your strategy
02:37and the path forward.
02:40Even if you have to fail a few times
02:42to get there.
02:46This is just the beginning.
02:47Later on,
02:48the combat opens up
02:49into wild creative combos
02:51that can turn the tide in a single turn.
02:54Take Triple Strike.
02:55On its own,
02:56it's just 3 damage
02:57so it's not extremely impressive,
02:59especially since you need to discard
03:012 cards to play it.
03:03But then,
03:04add Enchant Weapon
03:05which adds 1 damage
03:06to your next attack.
03:08And then,
03:09follow up with Lightning Strike
03:10which deals 2 damage
03:11for every card discarded.
03:13And suddenly,
03:14that small move
03:15becomes a devastating chain reaction
03:17that can wipe out enemies
03:18in a single play.
03:20Combat in Death Howl
03:21is meant to be challenging.
03:24In every fight,
03:25you are juggling movement,
03:26ranged and melee attacks,
03:27enemy positioning
03:29and what attacks
03:30may be used next.
03:32Understanding your enemies
03:33is key.
03:34And rethinking your approach
03:35to a tough fight
03:36is part of the experience.
03:41After a battle,
03:42pick up any dropped materials
03:44and in a few moments
03:46we will show you
03:47how it influences your deck.
03:50The game is open world,
03:52but progress is mostly gated
03:53by combat encounters
03:54between sacred groves
03:56which act as your save points.
03:58Any health you lose
03:59between groves
04:00is gone until
04:01you reach the next one.
04:02So managing it
04:03is critical.
04:07Cards are crafted
04:08from materials
04:09and the titular hovels
04:10you earn
04:11by defeating enemies.
04:12Materials can also
04:13be found in the world,
04:14so pay attention
04:15to your surroundings,
04:16complete side quests
04:17and gather what you can.
04:19Each card
04:20has its own cost,
04:21effect and synergies.
04:23and because each biome
04:25offers its own
04:26craftable cards
04:27not all of them
04:28will be as useful
04:29outside the place
04:30where you found them.
04:32This mysterious rock formation
04:33is one of the sacred groves.
04:35A place where you heal
04:37and can also trade
04:38the howls
04:39taken from fallen enemies
04:40for teardrops.
04:41An important resource
04:43that lets you learn
04:44new skills.
04:45One of those skills
04:46will come in handy
04:47very very soon.
04:48It is called
04:49Overwhelmed.
04:50In combat
04:51you will be able
04:52to unleash the skill
04:53boosting the damage
04:54of all cards
04:55played on that turn.
05:00Here you can also
05:01grab the first
05:02fish scale
05:03for our side quest.
05:04And now
05:05let us head
05:06into the next fight
05:07to see why that matters.
05:08This time
05:09you are facing
05:10some new opponents.
05:11Dreadfins
05:12have a special
05:13counter attack.
05:14If you hit them
05:15they will dash
05:16right through you.
05:17It is best
05:18to fight them
05:19with impossible terrain
05:20at your back.
05:21on the other hand
05:22can pull you in
05:23and hit you
05:24with a powerful attack.
05:25And here is the
05:26twist we teased
05:27earlier.
05:28After you draw cards
05:29in this fight
05:30you will notice
05:31the fish scale
05:32you picked up
05:33is now in your deck.
05:34It can be quite useful
05:35in certain circumstances
05:36but it is taking up
05:38an extra slot
05:39in your draw.
05:40And if you don't play
05:41it, it stays
05:42in your hand.
05:43add in other surplus cards
05:45like wound
05:46inflicted by certain
05:47attacks
05:48and your deck
05:49can get clogged
05:50pretty fast.
05:51This is where
05:52overwhelmed
05:53can become
05:54particularly useful.
05:55It adds 1 damage
05:56to every attack
05:57on this turn
05:58which can make up
05:59for the cards
06:00that are missing
06:01in your hand
06:02due to having
06:03fish scales.
06:04Using cards
06:05like aim for the heart
06:06which is available
06:07early on in the game
06:08and which is dealing
06:093 damage
06:10will become
06:11a little tactic
06:12thanks to the little bit
06:13of extra power
06:14coming from overwhelmed.
06:15After the fight
06:16another fish scale
06:17gets added
06:18to your deck.
06:19Let's move on.
06:20This fight
06:21may look simple
06:22except you are
06:23already feeling
06:24the weight
06:25of those scales
06:26in your deck.
06:27Since we know
06:28these enemies
06:29let's focus
06:30on another strategy
06:31chaining cards
06:32to get the most
06:33out of them.
06:35Let's start
06:36with the first strike.
06:37Use it
06:38before the enemy acts
06:39and you will get
06:402 mana back.
06:41Enough
06:42to attack again
06:43right away.
06:44With the mana
06:45we got back
06:46we can use destruction
06:47to get close
06:48to the enemy
06:49and then sharpen weapon
06:50to make an even
06:51more powerful
06:52card combo.
06:53And finally
06:54we use
06:55furious strike.
06:56It starts
06:57at 4 mana
06:58but every card
06:59you play
07:00on this turn
07:01reduces its cost
07:02by 1.
07:03Play it
07:04at the end
07:05of the chain
07:06when its cost
07:07has dropped
07:08impact
07:09for minimal cost.
07:12Now we head
07:13southwest
07:14adding more scales
07:15to our pockets.
07:19Let us take a quick
07:20detour here.
07:21The world of Death
07:22Howl offers
07:23many points of interest
07:24like this
07:25enriching the story
07:26or simply serving
07:27as a curious
07:28distraction
07:29along the way.
07:31Balancing the scales
07:32quest
07:33is almost done
07:34so let's jump
07:35into the final
07:36encounter.
07:37You are up
07:38against an elder
07:39dreadfin
07:40a regular
07:41dreadfin
07:42and a gloom croak.
07:44The elder
07:45is fast
07:46and hits hard
07:47so keep your distance
07:48and be very very careful.
07:50The real highlight here
07:51is the fruit tree
07:52in the middle
07:53of the grid.
07:54If you open
07:55with quick strike
07:56on the dreadfin
07:57it will get knocked
07:58back 2 spaces
07:59into the tree.
08:00That not only increases
08:02the damage it takes
08:03but also gives you
08:05a fruit card
08:06of your choice.
08:07This can poison
08:08an enemy
08:09fill your mana
08:10or give you more
08:11cards to play.
08:12Watch for terrain
08:13features like this
08:14they can add
08:15another tactical layer
08:16to your fights.
08:17We will skip ahead
08:19to the end of the fight.
08:21The reward?
08:23The final fish scale.
08:25Time to return it
08:27to its owner.
08:28The fish finally
08:30has its scales back
08:32and along with
08:33the hefty rewards
08:34we have freed up
08:35some much needed
08:36space in our deck.
08:37Let's take a look
08:38at what we have earned.
08:43First
08:44more precious
08:45teardrops.
08:46Since we already
08:47have overwhelmed
08:48we could upgrade
08:49or explore other abilities
08:50a rogue can learn.
08:51Take spirit cards
08:53an ability to acquire
08:54unique cards
08:55from the enemies
08:56you defeated
08:57unlocking new strategies
08:58to further grow your deck.
09:00We have also picked up
09:01a pearl totem
09:02which gives us
09:03a good chance
09:04to talk more
09:05about those powerful items.
09:06Totems give
09:07ongoing effects
09:08that can change
09:09how you approach
09:10combat
09:11from boosting certain cards
09:12to altering
09:13your starting bonuses.
09:14The pearl totem
09:15allows you
09:16to discard a card
09:17during battle
09:18and then it grants
09:19you block equal
09:20to its cost.
09:21As you gain experience
09:22the number of totem slots
09:24increases.
09:25in Death Howl
09:26your deck
09:27skill tree
09:28and totems
09:29work together
09:30as a flexible ecosystem.
09:32Tweak one
09:33and your whole strategy
09:34can shift.
09:37The meadows
09:38of delusion
09:39are just one step
09:40in Rose's spiritual journey.
09:42Here
09:43you learn that
09:44every card
09:45every totem
09:46and every choice
09:47shapes your survival
09:49in the eerie spirit world
09:50you must cross
09:51to reclaim your sun.
09:52What happens
09:54in the end?
09:55Well,
09:56you can discover
09:57for yourself
09:58in the full game.
09:59Don't forget
10:00to wishlist
