Eight candidates faced off in the final Chilean presidential debate, six days before the November 16 election.

Leading the debate were Jeannette Jara, former labour minister under President Gabriel Boric, and José Antonio Kast, currently second in the polls. Other notable participants included Johannes Kaiser and Evelyn Matthei.

Jara emphasized social policies and economic security for Chilean families, Kast focused on public safety and crime, Kaiser urged citizens to vote for national development, and Matthei highlighted efforts to combat narco-terrorism.

Chile’s election rules mean that if no candidate achieves an absolute majority, a runoff will be held on December 14.

00:00I know that Chilean families don't want more fights and what they want are solutions.
00:21I believe that a broad social alliance with citizens, as well as politics, can provide
00:26better governance for the challenges the country faces, more investment, more growth, better
00:31salaries and, of course, public safety.
00:35But I want to make my commitment to future governance here, so that every family can
00:39make ends meet and live in a safer neighborhood.
00:42That is my commitment to you.
00:56In our study, in the same order in which your names will appear, today, Chileans, you are
01:05afraid in your home, you feel anxious, that is going to change.
01:08Those who are going to be afraid in the future in 121 more days are drug traffickers, organized
01:14crime and terrorists, because we are going to go after them, we are going to find them,
01:19we are going to judge them and we are going to lock them up.
01:26Well, Anatel and its associated channels are committed, right?
01:42We are asking citizens to vote with conviction, to vote for what they believe is right, to
01:47vote looking toward the future, to vote believing in the manifest destiny of our country, which
01:53is to become a developed country, looking toward the Pacific with its trade.
02:17Candidate from Mitate, good evening, welcome.
02:20Good evening, thank you.
02:21In one year we are going to end narco-terrorism in the south.
02:26It can be done.
02:27What we do need to do is invest a lot of money, 2.5 billion dollars.
02:32And what we are going to do is that all those narco-terrorists, just like those from the trend
02:36in Aragua, are either going to go to jail or they are going to go to the cemetery.
02:45Can you please greet the number now?
02:47Hello, I have a number of people.
