Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pledged that anyone involved in corruption will face punishment after a $100 million kickback scheme was uncovered in the energy sector.
The scandal involves Energoatom, Ukraine’s largest energy provider, and allegedly includes a former adviser to the energy minister and the company’s security chief. Investigators conducted dozens of searches and seized large amounts of cash in multiple currencies during a 15-month probe.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of cooperation between government officials, NABU (Ukraine’s anti-corruption bureau), and law enforcement to ensure accountability.
