00:00See on the left side of the picture and all the other pagan altars that were there.
00:07Now this is 25 miles north of the Sea of Galilee location on a mass water supply that feeds the Jordan.
00:17This is where water comes out of the ground from the melting snows of Mount Hermon.
00:26Mount Hermon is like a sponge and water falls as whether it's snow or rain and goes through that mountain and eventually pops out of the ground.
00:38And this is why we call it the Hermon Spring also.
00:43And originally in the third century before Christ when the Greek arrived, the water would come out of the cave, out of the mouth of the cave.
00:54So the Greeks were so amazed at the beauty and the majesty of this area.
00:58And they decided that this place will be the place of worship of their deity that they call Pan.
01:07And they named it Panias.
01:09Originally it was called Baal Hermon where Baal was worshiped.
01:14But then Panias, Panias was this location of Pan, the worship of Pan who was half a goat, half a man.
01:26The upper part was goat, the face and man.
01:30And so it's very interesting because if you really think about it, you look all around satanic symbols, satanic worship.
01:39What do you see? A figure of a goat head all over.
01:45And they used to throw animal sacrifices into that cave.
01:54And if blood came out, then he rejected. If nothing came out, then he accepted.
01:58They were terrified of that god. That's why the word panic came to the world from Pan.
02:04And it's often depicted playing the flute also.
02:12In the city's modern name, Banias, or the region Banias is from the Arabic corruption of Panias.
02:20Arabs have a hard time pronouncing P. They turn into B.
02:24Like Bamila, Pamela, Bita bread, Pita bread.
02:32And so Banias is because it was Panias.
02:36Under the Roman Empire, Augustus Caesar eventually gave this area to Herod the Great who later on turned into his son.
02:45And this is why there was a temple dedicated to Augustus Caesar right there as well.
02:52So in short, Caesarea Philippi has a very long history of pagan worship.
02:58Which makes Jesus' message all the more significant.
03:02This place was for the most part avoided by the Jewish people.
03:07The Jewish people thought that this cave is the gates of hell.
03:13And so much demonic activity there.
03:17And no wonder why Jesus later on said to Peter,
03:20And the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.
03:24Remember that, right there.
03:26So let's read the account.
03:27But before we read it, I want you to know that the whole worship of goats, and goat-headed, and goat-bodied deities was something that existed even way before.
03:39In the Old Testament, in Leviticus, it says they shall no more offer their sacrifices.
03:46And in your poor English translation, it says just to demons.
03:54But the Hebrew is Seirim. Seirim is goats.
03:59And so the goat-demons, basically.
04:04After whom they also have played the harlot.
04:07The sexual immorality has always been associated with satanic worship.
04:10They always go together.
04:12You should have seen in Detroit a few years ago.
04:17I've got the video.
04:18I won't show it to you.
04:20But they inaugurated, they unveiled a satanic sculpture.
04:30They literally unveiled it.
04:32And they cried out,
04:34Hail Satan!
04:36And right there, as they unveiled it, two men were kissing during the unveiling.
04:44Sexual immorality has always been associated, always been involved, always been injected, always been part of satanic worship.
04:51Just so you understand.
04:53And even here, in that verse, we can see that association.
04:57So let's go back to Matthew 16, verses 13 to 23.
05:01When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples.
05:07Now, it's not a coincidence why they stopped there.
05:09Normally, he would teach or stop in places where there's water.
05:14In those days, you need to stop.
05:16You need to rest.
05:17You're walking all day long.
05:18You need to drink.
05:20In those places of rest, he would also teach.
05:23And he would also ask them questions such as this.
05:26And he asked them this,
05:28Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?
05:33And all of them were like,
05:35Oh, well, listen.
05:37You know, some say you're John the Baptist.
05:40Some Elijah.
05:41Others Jeremiah.
05:42Or one of the prophets.
05:44They started debating.
05:45Yeah.
05:46Who are you?
05:47This, this, that.
05:48I heard someone say this.
05:49Oh, yeah.
05:50And I heard someone.
05:51And he said, okay, okay.
05:52But who do you?
05:56You, my followers.
05:59You, who followed me for the last year or two.
06:03You, who, who, who've seen me, who been with me.
06:06You, who call yourself followers of Christ.
06:10Who do you say that I am?
06:15All were quiet except of one.
06:24Who, boom, said something that he did not even understand the content thereof.
06:34Peter answered and said, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
06:40Something came out of his mouth.
06:44Something that he never heard from anyone before.
06:47Something that no rabbi will teach.
06:49No synagogue will teach.
06:51No group of people will ever talk about.
06:54Something that is as far from the Jewish tradition as East from the West.
06:58Something that is foreign to the Jewish culture and understanding that the Messiah is God's Son.
07:06Although it's biblical.
07:08Although the book of Proverbs said about who ascended to heaven and descended.
07:13What's his name?
07:14And what's his son's name?
07:15You shall know.
07:16The Bible is talking about the Son of God.
07:18The Bible is talking about the Messiah.
07:20The Bible is giving us all.
07:22But they did not want to deal with that.
07:25They were looking forward for a man who will bring peace, prosperity, and freedom from the Roman Empire.
07:33And therefore, when Peter said that, it had to have been what?
07:41A revelation.
07:43Because he did not know that.
07:45This is why Jesus, the Bible said, answered and said to him, blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah.
07:56By the way, this Simon Bar-Jonah, the son of Jonah.
08:00Think about it.
08:01Simon Peter and Jonah had a lot in common.
08:04I mean, they both wanted to run away from the task to go to Gentiles and preach.
08:12If you understand that.
08:13If you remember.
08:14But it's interesting.
08:15And then he said, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you.
08:23It's a revelation.
08:25And this revelation has never been given to you by any living creature.
08:30Flesh and blood did not reveal that to you.
08:33You did not hear it from anyone.
08:35But what?
08:37My father who is in heaven.
08:42Think about it.
08:43And Peter is like, oh, me?
08:47And then he's looking at all the other disciples.
08:52And his head, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, so big!
09:13And then after this proclamation and confession that was not given to him by men, but by God.
09:24Jesus now feels comfortable.
09:28For the first time in his ministry, he is telling them the future of his ministry.
09:36And look what he says.
09:38Then, first of all, he commanded his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.
09:50What is Christ?
09:52Christ is an English word based on the Greek word Christos.
09:58The Greek word Christos is the Hebrew word Mashiach, Messiah, anointed one.
10:04So basically, Jesus is telling his disciples, don't tell anyone, I am the Messiah.
10:12Now you're probably asking yourself, why would he say that?
10:14Because they would get it wrong.
10:16They'll immediately run to find a crown and tell everyone, this is it.
10:22Fight the Romans.
10:23We found the king.
10:24Put him in Jerusalem.
10:25He's going to reign and rule.
10:27And that's not what he came for.
10:29Not only that he told them, tell no one, but look what the Bible says.
10:39From that time, Jesus, the Bible says, began.
10:44That means he never did it before.
10:46He began to show to his disciples that he what?
10:53Say that together.
10:54He must.
10:56Not maybe, could be, probably, possibly.
10:59He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and the priests and the scribes.
11:08He must be killed and must be raised the third day.
11:15And he's telling them that and they're like, what?
11:20And Peter, that Peter, with a head that big.
11:27He just, three minutes ago, he was sure that he heard from God.
11:39And therefore, this is the Messiah.
11:45And yet, in his mind, he is fixed on what men say that Messiah is.
11:52Not what God says that Messiah is.
11:56So what is he doing?
11:58All of that, what Jesus said, sounded so unrealistic and so unnecessary and such an almost shameful and an embarrassment for him.
12:10So Peter took Jesus aside and began to what?
12:16Rebuke him.
12:18The one who just confessed that Jesus is God, son of the living God.
12:23That same one is not rebuking him.
12:26And look what he says.
12:28Far be it from you, Lord.
12:30This shall not happen to you.
12:32What is he actually saying?
12:34You should not suffer.
12:36You should not be crucified.
12:38You should not die.
12:39You should not be buried.
12:41You should not resurrect on the third day.
12:43Who is interested in that Jesus will not die for our sins?
12:59And not resurrect from the dead to defeat sin and death?
13:04Who is interested in this?
13:07And so Jesus, he did not scream.
13:11He did not shout.
13:12He did not take something and threw at Peter.
13:15And he looked at Peter.
13:17At the same Peter that five minutes ago he smiled at and said, blessed are you, Simon.
13:25At the same Peter, he looked at him and he said, get behind me, Satan.
13:32And then he explained why.
13:34You are an offense to me.
13:38Anyone that suggests that Jesus could have avoided his death.
13:44That it was an accident.
13:46It was an unnecessary thing.
13:47That I wish he did not.
13:49Anyone that says that is an offense to Jesus.
13:53If you lament the fact that he died for you.
13:59And you think that it was unnecessary.
14:02And you think, I wish he was still alive.
14:04I wish the story was different.
14:06You are an offense to him.
14:08And he said, why?
14:12Why?
14:13Because you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.
14:22Men don't want to deal with sin.
14:27Men don't want to even understand that Messiah is connected to the solution for sin.
14:37Men only want him as a king coming on a horse to reign and rule.
14:44Just like, you know, all the Christmas stories.
14:46All what we have is what?
14:47The sticky story of Santa Claus coming and giving you presents.
14:51No one talks about why he really came to the world.
14:55It's all lovey-dovey.
14:57Let's hold hands, sing Kumbaya.
14:59Now, all of this, every Christmas movie I see, it's stickier than the one before.
15:07Or you got your Easter thing of what?
15:11Bunnies and eggs.
15:13How can egg hunting be anything that has to do with the resurrection of Jesus?
15:17I still don't know.
15:19But we, men, we love to celebrate things based on the things of men, not on the things of God.
15:34Jesus, number one, had to address the false Jewish perception of the Messiah.
15:40The Jewish people missed the connection between sin and the Messiah.
15:44This is precisely the scheme of the devil.
15:47That's why they rejected Jesus.
15:49Because, you know, they never had a problem with him as Messiah.
15:55They never.
15:56Show me one verse where they wanted him dead because he says he's the Messiah.
16:01Nowhere.
16:02The problem of the Jewish people with him is when he said that he's God.
16:10And the problem of the Jews is that he suggested that God's son had to die.
16:19He actually handed himself over.
16:24The Jewish people became focused on the things of men in order to become righteous.
16:30They thought that righteousness comes out of works.
16:33Out of religion.
16:35When I came to friends who started telling me about Jesus, and without even accepting him yet.
16:42I remember the first thing I did, I started reading the Old Testament.
16:45I didn't have a New Testament yet.
16:47I remember the most, you know, amazing thing for me was the prophets.
16:52The first prophet I read was Isaiah.
16:54First chapter.
16:55When you come to appear before me, who has required this from your hand to trample my courts?
17:02Bring no more feudal sacrifices.
17:06Incest is an abomination to me.
17:09The new moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies.
17:13I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meetings.
17:16He said, your new moons, your pointed feasts, my soul hates.
17:24Are you ready?
17:25I almost had a heart attack.
17:26God just said, through the prophet Isaiah, that he hates religion.
17:33He hates religion.
17:35He hates that they do, they do, they do, they do.
17:38But iniquity was not dealt with.
17:41Transgression was not dealt with.
17:44That's why he said, all these things are trouble to me.
17:49I'm wary of burying them.
17:50He said, when you spread your hands, I will hide my eyes from you.
17:55Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear.
17:59Your hands are full of blood.
18:01And he says, you have to wash yourself.
18:04Make yourself clean.
18:06Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes.
18:09In other words, you have to repent.
18:12You have to understand your sinful nature.
18:17Cease to do evil.
18:18Learn to do good.
18:19Seek justice.
18:20Rebuke the oppressors.
18:21Defend the fatherless.
18:22Plead for the widow.
18:23Come now and let us reason together, says the Lord.
18:28If you repent, if you confess, if you then understand your need for a change, then I will forgive you your sins.
18:41Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
18:44Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
18:48He said to the Jewish people, I hate the religion you turn my word into.
19:01By the way, he hates all religions.
19:03You think that Catholicism, and you think that Orthodox Christianity, and you think that some, you know, all Eastern version, all Western.
19:14You think that any form of religion is accepted by God?
19:18Absolutely not.
19:21If a person is not born again, he can never enter into the kingdom of God, period.
19:27It doesn't matter.
19:28You have people tell me I was born a Christian.
19:30No one is born a Christian.
19:31Not a single person on planet Earth was born a Christian.
19:35Why do you say that it's on my birth certificate?
19:37Well, it's wrong.
19:38You should have said, sinner, born sinner.
19:43How can you be born a Christian?
19:46Jesus said to Nicodemus, if you remember, you must be born what?
19:51Again.
19:52And Nicodemus, who?
19:55I must go back to my mother's womb.
19:57No.
19:58The second birth is a spiritual one.
20:02One must be born of the water, which is your first, and of the spirit.
20:11You cannot be born again upon your birth.
20:17Jewish people were attempting to avoid sin by keeping the law, which only led to more hypocrisy.
20:27Furthermore, the law was designed to expose their sin and the need for the Messiah.
20:33You understand that?
20:34When Jesus had to deal with the woman that was caught in adultery, and everybody raised their stones to stone her,
20:41and they continued asking him.
20:43He raised himself up, and he said to them,
20:45He who is without sin among you, let him throw the stone at her first.
20:50You're all religious, huh?
20:52You want to fulfill the law?
20:54Okay.
20:55No problem.
20:56Any one of you that has no sin, pick up the stone first and throw.
21:02They all left.
21:05Galatians says,
21:07Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
21:18But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
21:23You understand?
21:26Let no one judge you for food and drinks, or the Sabbath, or new moons and the holidays.
21:33For these are the shadow of things to come.
21:37Colossians chapter 2 says,
21:39But the substance is Christ.
21:42Look at me.
21:43You see shadow?
21:44Okay.
21:45So I go in the street, and the sun is shining, and I put my hand like that.
21:49You see a long shadow.
21:52And you look at the shadow, and suddenly I appear.
21:54Are you going to shake your hands with the shadow, or with me?
21:58When I appear, will you say hello to the shadow or to me?
22:02Well, where Jesus came, and he's the substance, and the shadow has been there all along.
22:08Then now, you don't need to talk to the shadow anymore.
22:11Yes, the shadow was there to tell you that I'm about to come, that I'm around the corner.
22:16Here I am.
22:17But then when I'm there, who needs the shadow?
22:20Oh, let me look at the shadow.
22:22Who?
22:23Will you answer me if I talk?
22:26No.
22:27James says,
22:31If you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
22:37You do well.
22:38But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
22:43For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
22:52The Old Testament connected sin to the need for the Messiah.
22:58Make no mistake.
22:59The fact that the Jews don't believe that the first coming was about sin, doesn't mean the Bible didn't say that.
23:07It means they never read or believed what the Bible said.
23:10If you look at the Passover lamb story in the book of Exodus, you see very, very carefully that they had to put some of the blood,
23:21and put it on the two doorposts, and on the lintel of the houses where they ate it.
23:26And look what he says.
23:28Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.
23:33And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be on you.
23:44In other words, it wasn't when I see the Jews, I will pass.
23:50It was when I see the blood.
23:53Atonement is in the blood.
23:57Leviticus 17, 11 says,
23:59For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls.
24:08For it is the blood that makes atonement for your souls.
24:14So that's why he had to die as the ultimate sacrifice to bring perfect atonement.
24:25Not only that atonement and Messiah were always connected, and sin and the need for Messiah were connected.
24:36Even his suffering was described all throughout the Bible.
24:39I don't have time to read all, but I can tell you.
24:41Psalm 22 speaks of his suffering.
24:45Psalm 38 speaks of his suffering.
24:48Isaiah 53,
24:50Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed him as stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
24:59But he was wounded for our transgressions.
25:03He was bruised for our iniquities.
25:07The chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.
25:15That's the Old Testament.
25:17That's the book of Isaiah.
25:19Not just his suffering.
25:21His death was prophesied also in Psalm 31.
25:25You can see that in Psalm 31.
25:29You can see that in Psalm 41.
25:31You can see that as well.
25:33And in Psalm 69, you can see that as well.
25:36And even Daniel chapter 9 is speaking of Messiah shall be cut off.
25:41And if that's not enough, even his resurrection was prophesied in the Old Testament.
25:47Job chapter 19 is speaking of it.
25:50Psalm 16 is speaking of it.
25:53Psalm 118 is speaking of it.
25:56Isaiah 25 is speaking of it.
25:59And this is why when Jesus appeared to the two disciples who went out of Jerusalem to the village of Emmaus.
26:09If you remember.
26:10They left Jerusalem on Sunday morning.
26:13Right after they already heard that he is not in the grave.
26:17That the angels said that he is alive.
26:19They left Jerusalem.
26:21And they were angry and confused.
26:23And mostly sad.
26:25And Jesus appears and says,
26:27What are those things that you talk to one another?
26:30And you're so sad.
26:31Jesus is looking at two of his own disciples.
26:34Running away from Jerusalem with shame, confusion and fear.
26:38And what?
26:40And they're sad.
26:42He is alive.
26:43He is risen.
26:44He is walking next to them.
26:47And they're sad.
26:48And they're telling him how much they're disappointed with Jesus.
26:53They're telling Jesus how much they're disappointed.
26:56And he's listening and listening.
26:59I'll never forget when I was CEO of Sar El Tours.
27:09You can never please everyone.
27:12You know that.
27:13Well, two years after that I felt that God is calling me to something else.
27:19So I stepped down.
27:20And got back to guiding tours.
27:25I'm sitting in the tour guides room where we wait for the groups to finish their tour in the garden tomb.
27:32And all the tour guides are there and just we're all gossiping there.
27:37And so I'm sitting there and three tour guides, they have no clue who I am, never seen me.
27:47And they gossip on a mirror and trash me like crazy.
27:55And I'm sitting there and they talk to me about me.
28:10And you know what Jesus said to those two disciples after they finished ranting?
28:15He said, Oh foolish ones and slow of heart.
28:20He said to the disciples, not to the Romans and not to the Pharisees or the Sadducees.
28:25To the disciples, he says, you foolish ones and slow of heart to believe that which the prophets have spoken.
28:33Every Shabbat you heard the prophets read.
28:36You heard Isaiah 53.
28:38You heard all the Psalms.
28:40In fact, in those days they used to chant Psalms and learn it by heart.
28:45And you never believed it.
28:48And he said, Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory?
28:57And beginning with Moses and all the prophets.
29:12He expounded to them in all scriptures the things concerning himself.
29:22You're in the wrong.
29:23Yeah.
29:24Expounded to them in all scriptures the things concerning himself.
29:32Wow.
29:33Number two, Satan was seeking to prevent the resurrection.
29:42He wanted Jesus dead, but not resurrect.
29:45This should not surprise us because Satan has been determined to destroy the seed, Christ, since the garden.
29:52The first prophecy in the whole Bible was in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15.
29:56If you remember that.
29:57In the garden he says, I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed.
30:03Women normally don't have seed.
30:05Hello?
30:06Eggs?
30:07Not seed.
30:08Not seed.
30:09But the seed of the woman is because there was no men.
30:14Because it was the Holy Spirit, if you know.
30:17And that seed of the woman will be the one who is going to bruise that enemy on his head.
30:24Crush it.
30:27This is to put Satan on notice.
30:30Your end is near.
30:32The seed of the woman is going to come and destroy you.
30:36And Satan was on a defense from that moment on.
30:39And he couldn't help it.
30:41But he was seeking, who is the one?
30:44Next chapter, Cain and Abel.
30:46He was, okay, of course, Abel is the good guy.
30:50Cain is the bad guy.
30:51Let's have the good guy killed.
30:53First murder, chapter 4.
30:57And when he realized that God starts a new thing with a new nation from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
31:04then he told Pharaoh to kill all the Hebrew babies.
31:08And when that was not enough, and the Jewish people were dispersed,
31:12he told Haman to kill all the Jewish people.
31:16And if that's not enough, when Jesus was already born, he told Herod to go and kill all the babies from to and below that were born in that area.
31:27Satan did not want Jesus to be born.
31:31But once he was born, he tried to kill him.
31:34But when that didn't work, and the ministry of Jesus began to flourish, Satan tried to recruit him in the desert.
31:42Forty days.
31:43Let me show you what I can give you.
31:45Ah, hmm.
31:47Look, all the kingdoms of the world.
31:50I can give it to you if you join me.
31:53Ooh la la.
31:55I don't know if he had French accent, but I'm just telling you.
32:00When he couldn't recruit him, he sought again to kill him and prevent the resurrection.
32:10Matthew 26, Jesus told his disciples,
32:13All of you will be made to stumble because of me this night.
32:18For it is written, I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.
32:24By the way, Jesus quoted Zechariah.
32:30Jesus never quoted the New Testament even once.
32:34I'll shock you even more.
32:40Jesus was not a Christian.
32:45Some of you are like, okay, that's too much.
32:48It's heresy.
32:49How can Christ be a Christian when a Christian is a follower of Christ?
32:54Hello?
32:56Now, number three, Peter was unknowingly acting as the mouthpiece of Satan.
33:01You know how many Christians unknowingly are the mouthpiece of Satan?
33:04I get their emails every day.
33:09And literally the venom and the poison that they write, it's the mouthpiece of Satan.
33:17I can see that.
33:18I say, get behind me Satan.
33:20That's not from God.
33:22This type of language cannot come from anyone who really professes to be a follower of Christ.
33:28You are not a Christian because you raise up your voice when you teach.
33:37That's what they tell me.
33:40What am I supposed to do?
33:43So, Peter was unknowingly acting.
33:46That's why I'm not a Christian.
33:52Mark 8.
33:54Remember, Peter said the things that are exactly contrary to what God had planned.
34:05Satan is not in communication with God.
34:09He is in communication with men that are not in communication with God.
34:15Men can listen to God if they have peace with God after they believe.
34:21Because what's keeping us away from him? Our sins.
34:26But if the sin issue is gone, then now we have peace with God.
34:31Now that which was far is now near.
34:34We can hear God.
34:36Satan cannot.
34:36This is why Jesus said in John 14,
34:39I will no longer talk much with you for the ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in me.
34:47Nothing.
34:47Number four, if Jesus didn't resurrect from the dead, we are still dead in our sins.
34:55That's why Satan doesn't want Jesus to be resurrected.
34:58This is why Satan told Peter to rebuke Jesus for even mentioning that.
35:03You see, a lot of people are telling me,
35:07Oh, my sins were forgiven because Jesus died for my sins.
35:12That's true.
35:13But the Bible says,
35:15If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
35:28That's when you are saved.
35:30It's not enough to believe that he died.
35:33In fact, Buddha died.
35:35Muhammad died.
35:36They all died.
35:38One time I took a taxi in Seattle and I talked to the guy that was driving me.
35:46And, you know, we talked about Jesus.
35:49And I said, Jesus was a great teacher.
35:51Well, Buddha was also.
35:53And I said, okay, well, Jesus died for me.
35:56Well, Buddha also.
35:56I said, Jesus resurrected.
35:58That is fixed dollars, please.
35:59Folks, no one can argue with that.
36:091 Corinthians 15.
36:11You understand, by the way, if you...
36:14Listen.
36:18If you only believe that he died and you don't believe that he resurrected,
36:23then your sins have not been forgiven.
36:27You need to understand that.
36:29You're religious.
36:32Your sins are not...
36:33Look what he...
36:34I'm not saying that.
36:35The Bible says that.
36:37For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.
36:41And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile.
36:44You're still...
36:45By the way, the word dead is missing here.
36:47I don't know why.
36:47I'm sorry.
36:48You're dead in your sins.
36:51Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
36:56Not falling asleep.
36:57They perish.
36:57If in this life only we have hope in Christ,
37:02we are of all men the most pitiful.
37:07If you live your life, just...
37:08If you believe in Jesus, just because in this life it makes sense.
37:13I want to be a good person.
37:14Go to church every Sunday.
37:16And if you don't understand that your faith in Christ now,
37:19it's giving you eternal life.
37:21Now our life is so...
37:24I walked a month ago into the hotel room of my father-in-law when he joined me to do ministry in Sicily, Italy.
37:38I found him dead.
37:43He didn't show up for breakfast.
37:44I suspected something is wrong.
37:47I ran.
37:47I opened the door.
37:48Walked into his room.
37:50He was there.
37:51In bed.
37:52Not there.
37:53His soul went to be with Jesus.
37:55His body was still here.
37:58And he's buried here.
37:59But he's not there yet.
38:01I mean, his soul is with Jesus.
38:04You don't know when it's going to happen.
38:06Our life here is just...
38:09Look at you.
38:14You've passed your peak.
38:19We're spiraling down quickly right now.
38:23There's a very few of us here in that section are still on their way to reach their peak.
38:29The rest of us are dying.
38:33And if you think that believing in Jesus is only for this life,
38:38Kiss that thought goodbye.
38:40If that's what you are,
38:42Then you better not call yourself Christians at all.
38:46Number five.
38:46Without the resurrection,
38:48Jesus would not have sent the Holy Spirit,
38:51Our helper and down payment for our salvation.
38:54You understand?
38:55Jesus said,
38:56I will pray the Father and he will give you another helper
39:01That he may abide with you forever.
39:04The spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive.
39:09If someone is not born again,
39:12He cannot receive the Holy Spirit.
39:17People send me videos of rabbis who said this and said that.
39:22You have to listen to this rabbi.
39:23He had a revelation.
39:25No!
39:26I will not listen to anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit in him.
39:33Period.
39:35And a person who does not believe in Jesus as his Lord and Savior,
39:40And a person that does not confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised him from the dead.
39:45He is not a believer.
39:46He is not a believer.
39:47He is not saved.
39:49Thus the Holy Spirit is not in him.
39:52Because the world cannot receive it.
39:54Because it neither sees him nor knows him.
39:58But you,
40:01You know him.
40:04For he dwells with you and will be in you.
40:08I will not leave you.
40:09As old friends he said.
40:10Ephesians says,
40:11In him you also trusted.
40:14After you heard the word of truth,
40:16The gospel of your salvation.
40:18In whom also,
40:20Having believed,
40:22You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
40:24It was sealed.
40:27No person in the Old Testament was sealed.
40:31In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit will come upon you.
40:34And it could leave you.
40:35It left Saul.
40:37David in fact,
40:38When he found out,
40:39That somebody found out.
40:45And in Psalm 51 he says,
40:47Please do not take your Holy Spirit from me.
40:50That's not a prayer of a believer in Jesus.
40:54You understand?
40:55The Bible says,
40:58About the Holy Spirit,
41:01That it is our down payment.
41:04You understand?
41:07The Bible says,
41:08Who is the guarantee of our inheritance?
41:13The Holy Spirit in you is Arabon in Greek.
41:17Arabon in Hebrew.
41:18Guarantee.
41:18It's a down payment.
41:20That's it.
41:21It's done.
41:22You're saved.
41:23And now,
41:25It's not you who lives.
41:26It's Christ who lives in you.
41:27And not only that,
41:29The price has been fully paid.
41:31But you're still in a body,
41:34That is a tent,
41:35Not a building.
41:37And so,
41:38You're waiting,
41:41For the redemption of the purchased possession,
41:44To the praise of his glory.
41:46Number six,
41:47The resurrection of Jesus assures you and me of our resurrection.
41:52Why?
41:52And this is why Satan didn't want Jesus to die.
41:57So he won't resurrect.
41:58So he won't make us able to resurrect as well.
42:04Because the Bible says,
42:05First of all,
42:06We identify with his life,
42:08Suffering,
42:09And death,
42:09And resurrection.
42:10In Romans says,
42:11For whom he foreknew,
42:13He also predestined to be conformed to the image of his son,
42:17That he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
42:21That's the life.
42:23Then in the death in Galatians 2,
42:24I have been crucified with Christ.
42:27It is no longer I who live.
42:28Now we identify with his death.
42:30And then in 1 Corinthians 15,
42:3322-26,
42:34For since by men came death,
42:37By men also came the resurrection of the dead.
42:40For as in Adam all die,
42:42So in Christ all shall be made alive.
42:45But each one in his own order.
42:51Christ the firstfruits.
42:54Afterward,
42:55Those who are Christ's at his coming.
42:59Christ had to be resurrected.
43:03He's first.
43:04And right after,
43:06The second in line,
43:08To be part of the first resurrection,
43:11Is those who belong to him.
43:13When?
43:14When he comes back to the cloud to receive us.
43:19So without his death and resurrection,
43:22We could not be raptured.
43:27That's what Satan hates.
43:29It's the blessed hope that we will have shortly.
43:34A way out of here.
43:36The atoning death of Jesus will not come into effect without the resurrection.
43:41You understand that?
43:43It's important.
43:44The resurrection is the key to the concept of the death.
43:48The goat or lamb never ever resurrected.
43:52The resurrection took away our sins forever.
43:56An animal did not.
43:58This is why in Hebrews chapter 10 it says,
44:02It is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
44:12Let's move to number seven.
44:13We need to understand who Jesus is and our destiny in him.
44:18That's what Satan doesn't want you.
44:21That's why get behind me Satan.
44:22Jesus could see through all of that.
44:24I brethren when I came to you I did not come with excellence of speech or wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
44:33For I determined Paul determined not to know anything among you except Christ riding on a horse reigning from Jerusalem.
44:46No, Paul who held those opinions in the past understand now.
44:54No, I'm not going to be giving you any false idea, false hopes, false perception.
45:06Christ and him crucified.
45:09He had to die.
45:10And if you have a problem with him dead and then resurrected, you do not understand anything about God's plan.
45:21For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins.
45:28What?
45:29According to the scripture.
45:31Which scripture, by the way?
45:33Old Testament.
45:34There was, look, Paul never quoted the New Testament.
45:36I told you that.
45:38According to scripture.
45:39And that he was buried and then that he rose again the third day.
45:44What?
45:45According to the scriptures.
45:50This is the biblical perception of the Messiah.
45:54That's what we need to hold on to.
45:59We're responsible to know who Jesus is because of what the world, the word of God says about him.
46:05Not what men, books, world, theologians, you know, the Muslims believe he is a prophet.
46:12The Jews think he was a nice guy that went wrong.
46:16So many people think he's a good teacher.
46:18Other things, I mean, they all have something good to say about him.
46:22But they don't agree with us that he is the son of the living God who came to die, be buried, and resurrect.
46:34The most essential thing that the whole Bible was writing on the most essential thing that the whole Bible was writing on.
46:40They don't agree with it.
46:41Number eight, the resurrection declares our victory over death.
46:49Oh, death, where is your sting?
46:51Oh, Hades, where is your victory?
46:53The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
46:57But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
47:01Therefore, my beloved brethren, you see, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,
47:09knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
47:13Hardships will come upon Canada.
47:16COVID is a joke compares to what is going to happen to this world.
47:22Look, why are you looking at me like that?
47:24I'm not making it up.
47:26Jesus is the one who said,
47:28In this world you will have what?
47:32Great prime minister?
47:34No.
47:35Great government?
47:36No.
47:38Godly parliament?
47:39No.
47:41You'll have tribulations.
47:43But be of good cheer.
47:45I have overcome the world.
47:47Number nine, the resurrection initiates our departure from this world to our heavenly home.
47:52Romans 8 is talking about that very much so.
47:56But 1 Peter says,
47:58You are chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation is only special.
48:02See, that's what the...
48:03Satan doesn't want you to know that.
48:05He doesn't want you to understand who you are in Christ,
48:08who called you out of darkness into his marvelous life.
48:13Philippians says,
48:13For our citizenship is in heaven from which also we eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ to come.
48:21He will transform our what?
48:26See?
48:28Your body is lowly.
48:31Look, I hardly can stand up.
48:36And I'm not even 50.
48:39Our body is lowly.
48:43That it might be conformed into his glorious body,
48:47according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself.
48:51These are the things of God.
48:54And the things of God are directly connected to the perfect will of God in order to accomplish that will.
49:00Jesus had to choose to put Satan behind himself.
49:05Isaiah 50,
49:05For the Lord God will help me, therefore I will not be disgraced.
49:09John 10,
49:10Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
49:16No one takes it from me.
49:17I lay down of myself, and I have the power to lay down, and I have the power to take it again.
49:25This command I have received from my Father.
49:28Jesus did not run the other way when they came to catch him.
49:32Look what the Bible says in John 18.
49:34Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that would come upon him, said,
49:38He went forward and said to them,
49:41Whom are you seeking?
49:42And they answered him,
49:43Those guards who came,
49:45Jesus of Nazareth.
49:46And he said to them,
49:47I am he.
49:48Why?
49:49Because that's what he came for.
49:51He's not running away.
49:55He was committed to the will of the Father.
49:58I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
50:03Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, the shame, and sat down after he was resurrected at the right hand of the throne of God.
50:21Part of the package of being a believer is understanding that we live in an evil world.
50:26We were not promised the garden of roses.
50:29And we can also say, get behind me, Satan, when we see Satan attempting to put us down.
50:36If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily.
50:43Philippians says,
50:44Not I that I speak in regards to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am to be content.
50:52We will have different state in our life, but we need to stay content at all times.
50:58Life in this fallen world will never be perfect for the believer.
51:02When Satan seeks to remind us of how short you fall, you need to fall back on the promises of God.
51:11And I'll conclude with this.
51:13Look at the two words that are now on the screen.
51:17We know.
51:18I want you to say, we know.
51:20Let's say, we know.
51:23Romans 8.28
51:24And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and those who are called according to his purpose.
51:332 Corinthians 5.
51:35For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.
51:47For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven.
51:54If indeed having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.
51:58For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.
52:10Now, he who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the spirit as a Rabon, a Rabon guarantee.
52:23And while we wait, 2 Corinthians tell us that we are the ambassadors of Christ, reconciling the world to himself.
52:33And I will conclude with Romans 8.23-25
52:38Not only that, but we also, who have the first fruits of the spirit, even we ourselves, groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of what?
52:54I told you.
52:56Look, you're already redeemed.
52:58We have a new heart, new spirit, we're a new creation, we're one new man, we're stuck in this body.
53:06And we're waiting for the redemption of our body.
53:10For we are saved, for we're saved in this hope.
53:14For hope, but hope is that, is seen, is not hope.
53:18For why does one still hope for what he sees?
53:22But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
53:30Father, we thank you for your word.
53:32Thank you for your promises.
53:34We know that Satan wants to put us down and not understand who we are in Christ, who Christ is.
