Britain is deploying military equipment and personnel to Belgium to help counter a series of drone incursions that have disrupted airports and raised security concerns across Europe.
Sir Richard Knighton, head of the UK Armed Forces, confirmed the UK is providing “kit and capability” to support Belgium, following a request from Brussels. While the source of the drones remains unconfirmed, officials have noted the possibility of Russian involvement, amid ongoing concerns over hybrid warfare tactics.
Brussels Airlines reported thousands of passengers affected, as flights were cancelled or diverted. NATO allies, including Germany, are also assisting Belgium to secure its airspace.
