00:00Hi David, you said yesterday that you wanted goals from everywhere, it wasn't just for
00:19just five, you said to get one from the midfield in the centre-half, it was going to get very
00:24satisfying afternoon? We didn't get anything from VAR today, I know that, but certainly
00:29we got a couple of goals from our goal-scoring midfield player, now just again a gaze getting
00:35a few goals for us and we've been really lacking scoring from set pieces which we're on every
00:43day, we're thinking about how we score, how we can get more and thankfully we got one
00:49today which made a big difference.
00:56Hi David, with Barry and Beto, in years gone by they might have been getting some stick
00:59from the crowd at this stage, not scoring in a while, it struck me like when you made the
01:03substitution, they cheered him off and cheered on Beto, does that reflect the effort they're
01:09making but also there's a general sort of betting around the place?
01:13I think it's great credit because I think all the Evertonians know that both players are looking
01:17for confidence and looking for support, I thought the crowd were brilliant for Barry today but
01:22I think Barry also gave them something to shout about and believe in and he was rightly applauded
01:28coming off. I don't think any of the Evertonians would question Beto for his work rate or his
01:34attitude because what he'd done really for us at the end of last season was amazing, scoring
01:38the goals he did do and how he played. So the supporters need a great deal of credit for
01:43that because we need those boys to keep their confidence up and while you're not scoring
01:49as a centre forward it's not an easy thing to do.
01:52Carl?
01:53Hi Dave, just on Barry, it's probably not an appreciation that he's having to learn quite
02:02a lot of his trade on the pitch when he can do so much in training sessions and coming to
02:07the Premier and he really gets to do it on the pitch and he doesn't have that much time
02:11to do it.
02:12Yeah, I totally agree and I think that sometimes we say it and people don't really take it seriously
02:17I think when you say how it takes time to get adjusted. For example, even when we bring
02:21Merlin Roll on today, he came on and couldn't get adjusted to the speed of the game, how
02:25quick it was and what it was around so he knows things and he'd missed a couple of days
02:29training to be fair to him. But Tierno is the same, Tierno has to get used to the physicality,
02:34being a centre forward in the Premier League, what you're going to come up against, the
02:38challenges. But if he was scoring then you wouldn't think about too much of the others
02:44but while he's not scoring then he's going to have to be very good. I thought the other
02:47parts of the game today and the main he'd done, I thought he worked his nuts off, I thought
02:51he ran hard, he was committed for the team. I thought he'd done a really good job for the
02:56team today.
02:58Harry?
02:59Hi David, made for the changes to the starting line of today, what was the thinking going
03:06as James Tierno at the right back and it's going to be in the same field?
03:09I felt that we just needed, we weren't needing a huge change but I could have made huge changes
03:15but I chose that, I thought that Jimmy would give me a little bit more quality at times on
03:19the ball from the position. It meant that I was going to lack in height in some ways which
03:24was a concern to me, it set pieces that we could be short as it was we scored the goal.
03:28Today from one, we defended one, the clean sheet was great, it was probably one of the biggest
03:35things that I'm pleased about today because we pride ourselves on trying not to concede
03:40too many goals but I think if you looked at what all round general play today you'd say
03:45football was good, football was good. We maybe didn't get the goal, we had a couple chopped off,
03:49we got it but I just felt that Jimmy going to right back might have just helped us a little bit
03:56play, make his play just that little bit better.
03:58You mentioned there he's played in a number of different positions now, James Gardner
04:02this season left back, right back, central midfield. Do you still see him first and
04:05foremost as a central midfielder or is he just somebody who's sober as far as he can do a
04:08job at him?
04:09No, I see him as a central midfield player and I think he would see himself as a central
04:13midfield player but that doesn't mean to say flexibility I think in the modern game has
04:17become even more useful and obviously more apparent as well. I'm just pleased with Jimmy,
04:23I like Jimmy a lot, I think Jimmy is a really good player and I think he must be in a group
04:29of English midfield players who are doing well. I see Alex Scott has been called up by England
04:35so I would have thought Jimmy Gardner's form as a midfield player wouldn't have been a
04:40million miles off that either.
04:43Joe?
04:48Hi there.
04:49The last few weeks you've had games where you've had really good passages of play,
04:53you haven't quite been able to turn them into match-winning performances. How satisfying
04:56was it today to deliver over 90 minutes?
05:00Well I still thought that we didn't dominate all the part but I don't know if that's going
05:06to happen anymore in the Premier League at the moment the way the teams are. I think
05:09you're going to find that what we mustn't do is when we're not dominant that we don't
05:13give up too many chances. Now today we gave up a couple of chances, Jordan made a couple
05:17of saves which were important for us but they're there to do that as well and he did.
05:23But we've won games maybe with very little possession, other teams might have 60 or 70%
05:30possession we've maybe gone on and won it if we don't give up too much opportunities.
05:35I thought today we had much more of the ball, we're playing well, we're doing things but
05:39it's going to mean that the opposition is sometimes going to be part of the games.
05:44The Premier League is so tight, so for example the other night we had about 30 minutes,
05:49Sunderland did 60 minutes, probably today we probably had the best part of 60 minutes and
05:53probably filling with 20 minutes or so. I just think that might be the way the Premier League
05:58is going to be and you're going to have to find how when you're not the dominant team at
06:02the time in the game you're going to have to find a way of not conceding, defending well
06:07enough and if you're the team who's in the dominant period then you have to probably try
06:12and get a go from it.
06:13It's a long run now until Manchester United.
06:16Just to sign off another international break with wins, how useful is that?
06:21What's the momentum with you?
06:24Well, I think we've signed off in all the international breaks with wins, so today was a really good win for us.
06:31Look, Andy was saying we might be three points off being in the top three or four, but we might be
06:40three points off being near the bottom end, so it's so tight and the games are looking as if
06:46the Premier League is as tight as I've ever seen it probably at this stage in the season.
06:50Lewis?
06:51Hi David, you must be delighted for Michael Keane to get a reward with the goal.
06:55Absolutely.
06:56Have the fans seen his name?
06:58No, not half.
06:59I mean, Michael Keane's been brilliant, a great professional.
07:05You know, you're not coming away from games questioning Michael Keane very often.
07:09If anything, you're coming away praising him because he scored as a goal against Aston Villa,
07:14scored against Fulham down there last year as well, scored, got a goal today which we're
07:18really pleased with.
07:20So he's done amazing, Michael Keane, and hopefully he continues that form.
07:26Will?
07:27Isaiah, just on the Julesbury Hall, I think that's his best game he's had for the
07:34Trevins.
07:35Not just on the Hall, but on the Hall as well.
07:36He was terrific today, Julesbury Hall.
07:38I think he's made such a difference to the team.
07:41He's made us much more creative and sort of cultured in the way we play.
07:48And he might be getting under the radar a wee bit from, you know, even from Evertonians.
07:53He's playing so well and he does the work as well.
07:58He covers big distances for us and all those things, so he's done a really good job.
08:03And he's an intelligent boy as well and wants the team to do well, wants the team to play
08:07well and he's certainly helped us play better.
08:10OK, folks.
08:11Cheers, thank you.
