00:00I spent two and a half thousand dollars on an Instagram ad to buy this.
00:04So I'm going to put my phone on there.
00:05Because in theory, this machine can print anything onto anything with three-dimensional texture.
00:10So I can drag, let's say, this marble layer on top of my phone using the thing's software.
00:14And then it should actually be able to print a real marble-like finish onto it.
00:19Let's see what it looks like when it's done.
00:21My team has spent the last 10 weeks trawling Instagram.
00:24Every time they saw a game-changing looking gadget being advertised, they bought it.
00:28And, well, 16 products have shown up.
00:31So let's use this to find out.
00:33Are these social media products actually as perfect as the ads make them seem?
00:37These are water bears.
00:39They're tiny little cleaning cloths that safely clean your lenses and screens.
00:42They don't look like cleaning cloths.
00:45Clean your screen.
00:46Oh, they stick to the back.
00:47And when it's done, stick it back in place.
00:49Then you stick them back.
00:50That feels a little too easy.
00:52So this is what they look like in person.
00:57Here's what I want to know.
00:58How well do they clean your screen?
01:00Pretty well.
01:01Especially considering there's no solution or spray.
01:04And then it just sticks onto the back of your phone or laptop.
01:07Pretty solid connection, to be fair.
01:09Now, there are a couple of caveats.
01:11Like if you stick this into even one poorly maintained pocket.
01:15This is so grim.
01:16Can you see how this has also picked up a ton of rubbish that you're not really going to want to wipe your screen with?
01:21Plus the sticky pads.
01:22The more times you do this, the more it is going to start to lose its stickiness.
01:25The good news is apparently both of those issues are solved by just dunking it in some water.
01:30So I'm going to say that $15 for this Instagram ad was money well spent.
01:35I'd say I 80% love it.
01:37Laundry shoe bag.
01:38All right.
01:39Stop doing this with your white sneakers.
01:40Oh, a specific bag designed so that your shoes can go in the washing machine.
01:45I'm very interested.
01:46Maybe this is because I'm just about to enter my 30s, but I am buzzed about this one.
01:51Being able to throw your shoes into the washing machine is already one of my favorite life hacks.
01:55And so the idea of now doing that while protecting the machine, while cleaning the shoes even better, is a big win-win.
02:02Pretty impressed by the quality here.
02:03These were more expensive than they looked, so it's reassuring that they also feel better than they look.
02:09Oh my God.
02:11That is a thousand bristles inside of here.
02:14So let's go absolute worst case here.
02:16Your shoes look like this.
02:18Yes, the team has been busy.
02:22One shoe goes in each bag.
02:24Then at the end, the zips tuck in like that.
02:27Okay, it's go time.
02:30One, two.
02:31Let's check back in two hours and 38.
02:35C-sure.
02:37C-sure?
02:38C-sure?
02:39Game changer alert.
02:40No way.
02:43Ooh.
02:44That looks very satisfying.
02:46And it looks like because they've got slight ridges, even though it's just a snap mechanism, it's still not pulling apart.
02:52So right off the bat, you can tell what they're doing with the packaging.
02:54This outer box is clearly trying to come across like the luxury orange and black fashion designer Hermes aesthetic.
03:00It's just when you get inside, it becomes pretty clear that this is actually more the clear, crinkly, plastic bag AliExpress aesthetic.
03:09First off, got to applaud them for the name that looks like they made a typo and then just stuck with it forever.
03:15Game recognize game.
03:16Ooh, yeah.
03:18So every single segment of this band is its own magnet.
03:22That is delightful.
03:23And that is just not coming off.
03:25I don't know if that looks sus.
03:26I've actually been wearing a $1 watch band that I got from India almost two years ago at this point.
03:31Just because I thought it's really funny that it's every bit as good as the watch bands that Apple is charging $50 for.
03:36But I think it's finally time for an upgrade.
03:38This C-sure is a definite step up while still being cheaper than Apple.
03:43So you can keep the joke running.
03:45You've probably seen tons of smart lights, but you've never seen a smart system like this.
03:49This is Halo Luxe Lamp by Glowrite.
03:51A wireless, clutter-free light that...
03:52Mmm.
03:53It does look very clean.
03:55It lights up every little nook I never even planned on.
03:57Insane.
03:57Just peel, stick, and attach the light with the magnet, and voila.
04:00Okay, this magnet's involved.
04:01I'm liking the sound of this a lot.
04:03So we got the goods.
04:05And I wouldn't call it a hugely premium first impression, considering it is $50 a bulb.
04:11Wait, I just turned it on.
04:13Well, that actually is kind of cool, because at least you know it really does work right out the box.
04:18And that's kind of the entire appeal of this product.
04:20This is clearly designed for someone whose priority is a tool-less experience.
04:25Oh, so that's the magnet.
04:26Very strong.
04:28And then this is the sticky pad.
04:30So let's say I want to wall mount it.
04:31And then that mounts like that.
04:33It was a little bit too easy.
04:34And I kind of want to say, well, that's because it's not secure.
04:36But it freaking is.
04:39That's number two.
04:41So you tap the light button to turn it on.
04:43I really like the design of that.
04:44We've actually got one end at the top, which is diffused, so it's softer.
04:48And then this one is not diffused, so it's sharper.
04:50You can change which one is being lit by using this button here.
04:54Hold down here to change brightness.
04:56And then this one here changes color temperature.
04:58It's so simple, but it's actually so insane to use a product that is exactly what it says on the tin in the easiest possible way.
05:05There's always something that you normally have to fiddle with, like an app or a Wi-Fi connection or screws.
05:10Oh, I'm curious.
05:11Do the settings persist when it's turned off and on again?
05:15Yes, they do.
05:17It has memory.
05:18But then there's the sensors.
05:19So we bought the hand sensor, which is designed, I guess, if you want to be really intentional about when you're turning the things on and off.
05:25Oh, wow.
05:26It's a magnet.
05:27And then apparently you just swipe from left to right.
05:29That is so responsive.
05:31And then if you do the same thing again, they turn off.
05:34And that's not something you're going to accidentally trigger, which is exactly what you want.
05:38We should also try the motion sensor.
05:40So this would be for when you don't even want to have to think about when the lights come on and off.
05:43And then it's got three options for how long you want the lights to stay on after it gets triggered.
05:47Hasn't triggered, hasn't triggered, hasn't.
05:49And they're on.
05:50Okay.
05:51Well, my guard was up when I saw the $50 a pop pricing.
05:55But this is a well-designed product.
05:57They have somehow managed to fit a 10,400 milliamp hour battery inside of here, which should last a month.
06:03But also the magnet means that you can very quickly detach it to USB-C charge it when it runs out.
06:09Take it with me.
06:11Let's have a quick look at the laundry bags.
06:12It sounds way better than it usually does.
06:14Not like something's getting banged up inside of there.
06:17And one hour to go.
06:19Sunglasses too dark to see.
06:21What does that even mean?
06:22Oh, oh my God.
06:23So they have lenses that adjust kind of like ND filters on cameras if you ever use those.
06:29They're not bad looking either.
06:31If they actually sound like that as you're rotating the dials, I am immediately more interested.
06:36Nothing too experimental going on with the case.
06:38It's all looking pretty generic so far.
06:41Oh, the glasses themselves.
06:43I actually like that.
06:45I think.
06:46God, they're really heavy.
06:48You see how they just kind of fall out when you're holding one of the arms?
06:52You like what you see?
06:53You're going to see you're pulling it off.
06:55I'm pulling it off.
06:55I think you should pull it off.
06:57And now, the great tint.
07:01Wait.
07:03What?
07:05No.
07:07Really weird to see out of glasses where one side is tinted.
07:12That is not how it sounds at all.
07:14Well, that's half the reason I bought them.
07:15It's freaking stupid.
07:16I feel misled.
07:17I feel betrayed.
07:19I was really looking forward to the idea of a fidget toy permanently attached to my face.
07:22But, you know, that's ain't it.
07:25Okay.
07:25This is a UV test card.
07:27So when you shine a UV torch onto it, it will actually turn purple.
07:31Okay.
07:31So let's shine those same UV rays onto the card, but now through the glasses.
07:36And, okay.
07:37Almost nothing gets through.
07:39I just think it's a bit silly.
07:40These are as expensive as glasses that can automatically tint themselves.
07:43But, they're manual.
07:45It's not like the manual mechanism is particularly satisfying.
07:48And, you've got to do it twice.
07:50I think this is our first mistake.
07:52All right.
07:52Let's check in on our phone.
07:55What?
07:55It's got all the veins of the natural stone.
08:01That feels like the kind of custom finish that you'd pay a company hundreds of dollars to get done.
08:06Just realized I forgot to cover up the flash module while doing it.
08:08That'll be a fun experiment to excavate.
08:10Consider me very impressed by that.
08:13Because it's printing using an ink that hardens just by being exposed to UV light,
08:17it can even print on metal in 3D.
08:20Which means, in theory, you could just print unlimited disc plates at home.
08:24You know those metal posters that will cost you, like, $50 a pop?
08:28So, metal sheet goes in there.
08:30This is exciting.
08:33Breeze spray.
08:34Why does that sound like something you'd use in a bathroom to kill 99.9% of bacteria?
08:38Why, I'm never asking my friends for gum or mint anymore.
08:41Oh, it actually does kill bacteria, but just in your mouth so that you can stay having fresh breath.
08:45Interesting idea, I will say.
08:47Why does this look incredibly AI-generated?
08:48Whoa!
08:49Whoa!
08:50I don't need to see that.
08:52But it calls itself kiss-proof breath.
08:54They've really decided what their audience is.
08:57So, if the glasses are the product that I know I don't need,
09:00then the Breeze spray is the one that I hope I don't need.
09:04Gotta say, nothing about this presentation screams,
09:07I've just dropped nearly $100 on something that you don't normally pay nearly $100 for.
09:11And the thing itself is super light.
09:14So, I initially thought, this is just a nice, pleasant breath smell.
09:18But apparently, this is the hard stuff.
09:21This spray actually bathes your mouth in a probiotic mist that will kill 99.9% of the bacteria responsible for bad breath.
09:29So, they're claiming that compared to mints or gum that might give you about two hours of extra fresh breath, this gives you 12.
09:35So, let's put my money where my mouth is.
09:39Mmm.
09:42Mmm.
09:44That's delicious.
09:45It's quite powerful.
09:46It's a little bit menthol-y.
09:48We bought the mango flavor, and if you've ever tried Rubicon juice, this is that.
09:53But just with a really strong cooling effect in my throat.
09:56It's one of those weird ones, though, where, technically speaking, this is the product.
10:00But you're paying most of the price for the dispenser of the product.
10:03Then again, if the thing does solve bad breath forever, then it's worth every cent.
10:08So, I guess now we just wait for a couple of hours, and then I'll breathe on my wife's face for the moment of truth.
10:13So, it's a wallet that you put your cards in, but then you unfold it, and it's also a whiteboard that you can write on.
10:26I'm curious if this will actually feel convenient compared to just jotting notes in my phone.
10:32So, the packaging is actually a little bit more premium than the here's a fun stocking filler vibe that I was getting from the ad.
10:39I guess it kind of has to be if they're going to charge $89.
10:43Oh, that's a nice snap.
10:48Definitely get used to that.
10:49To be fair, it's actually kind of nice to write in.
10:52The pen glides, and it's got a good level of precision.
10:54And then the eraser on the back of the pen also makes it very easy.
10:57And then when you're done with it, the pen actually stores inside of the thing.
11:00So, in theory, quite a neat solution.
11:03And then let's say I shut the thing, and it's rattling around in my pocket all day.
11:07The notes are still intact.
11:09That said, do I think this is good?
11:11Probably not.
11:14Like, because the eraser on my pen is slightly worn out, it doesn't secure in properly, and so keeps falling out every time I open the thing.
11:20See, the problem is if you don't put your cards in just right, you will actually end up sliding them in the middle and completely destroying your notes.
11:27But fine, okay, so you put them really carefully in, three on one side, and then three on the other.
11:33But then let's say I haven't perfectly pushed them all the way in, you can't open the thing.
11:38So then you push them all the way in, but then you can barely get them out.
11:42So tight!
11:42It's two things that sound like a really great pairing on paper, but it doesn't work in practice.
11:47It's a decent whiteboard.
11:49It's a bad wallet.
11:51This ball makes music.
11:54Oh, every time it's bouncing, it's playing a note.
11:57Yes, of course, there's an app.
11:59And then you can mix your voice in with the whole thing.
12:02This is a very strange hybrid of two products I did not imagine going together.
12:06Consider me confused.
12:08Now, the very obvious, immediate question that springs to my mind is, who is this for?
12:14Is this a tool or is this a toy?
12:16So it's connected to my phone.
12:19And the idea is that different gestures produce different sounds through the phone.
12:25So there's no speaker on the ball itself.
12:28That's very strange.
12:32That's one way to make a hit song.
12:45It's kind of cool.
12:46But why?
12:48And you can also yourself assign what sound comes with what motion, and then also layer
12:54it up to form a beat.
12:55Right, let's drop the beat.
12:59Wow.
13:01Good morning.
13:03Yeah.
13:06This is actually so stupid.
13:08Good morning.
13:08Good morning.
13:09Good morning.
13:10Good morning.
13:12I've only got one thing to say to that.
13:15Wow.
13:15Can I have it back?
13:17Good morning.
13:18I mean, I'm kind of impressed.
13:20You know, it's a nicely made product.
13:21It's got a slick app.
13:23It's just, having used it, I can tell you for sure, this is firmly in the toy category.
13:27There is no way that Taylor Swift was in the recording studio shooting three pointers with
13:32her oddball to try and create life of a showgirl.
13:35All right, it's shoe time.
13:37It was like Christmas morning.
13:39So this is kind of a two-part investigation.
13:41How clean are the shoes?
13:42And then how clean is the bag?
13:44Does that need to be thrown in the wash again afterwards?
13:46Oh, so this is good.
13:47The zips have stayed in place, which means they weren't rattling around in there.
13:50And that's a pretty good result.
13:56It's not perfect.
13:57Some of the deeper stains are still there, but it's 97% cleaned.
14:02This is good though.
14:03Look at this.
14:04The inside of the bag is pristine.
14:07So I'm assuming these mesh nets that it has on the sides are the way that it filters dirt
14:12out of the bags.
14:13I'm not mind blown, but they're good enough that I would use these from now on.
14:17The Shakti Premium Acupressure Mat.
14:19So you just lie down on it and it gives you some sort of acupressure therapy.
14:23And then it folds up when you're done.
14:25Those reviews are absolutely insane.
14:28Shaping up to be a pretty good product.
14:30I'm very curious where this is going to land on the pain pleasure scale.
14:33Because at least in concept, the idea of lying down on a bed of a thousand spikes does sound
14:38more like a sadistic torture method from a cartoon than therapy.
14:43Ow.
14:44Oh my God, that really is pointy.
14:47So the idea of acupressure is that your body is covered in hundreds of acupoints.
14:52Places where blockages in the flow of energy can occur.
14:55And so essentially by poking those points, you can relieve those blockages.
15:00Now, I don't know about the energy stuff, but I have had acupressure massages before
15:03and they've been great.
15:04So this shouldn't be too bad, right?
15:07Cool.
15:09Huh.
15:11That feels fine.
15:13It's that weird thing where if it was one spike, it would absolutely kill.
15:16But when you spread that surface area across thousands of spikes,
15:19it just feels like I'm lying on a really bristly rug.
15:22There's actually something really grounding about it.
15:24I feel comfortable, but just like very aware of myself.
15:28Also really impressed by the quality of this thing.
15:30Okay, so that's 15 minutes and I'm not in pain,
15:35but you absolutely know that you've been thoroughly prodded.
15:39Back feels really warm and kind of like you feel after a really good workout,
15:44except I probably burned two calories.
15:47I feel really alert all of a sudden, quite limbered up.
15:49It's a different feeling to a massage, but not inherently worse.
15:54Can you hear the difference?
15:55Clap test.
15:56Clap test.
16:00Clap.
16:01Oh, whoa.
16:03That's a vast reduction in echo.
16:05And that's achieved with just four of these audio silk panels.
16:09Honestly, this is pretty tantalizing.
16:11These are super thin and pretty sleek looking as far as acoustic panels go.
16:15So if they actually end up performing as good as the ad suggests,
16:21then I think I'm just going to put these all over my house.
16:24Okay, so this is the entranceway of our house.
16:26And as you can probably tell, it's pretty terrible acoustically.
16:30What you really want is to have lots of soft fabrics and furniture
16:33because they're really good at absorbing sound waves.
16:36What we have here is a flat concrete floor and plaster walls
16:40where you're instead going to notice tons of audio reflections bouncing over the place,
16:44which is going to muddy the clarity of my voice.
16:47So what you're hearing now is the before.
16:49This is being recorded on the most humanly accurate microphone we have.
16:54Eight of these audio silk panels are now up in the room.
16:56So that's two sets worth a total of $240.
17:00Can I tell the difference?
17:02I would say yes, definitely.
17:05It's not eliminated all reflections by any stretch,
17:08but it's about a 40% improvement to the room.
17:11The best part of it though is that you can barely see them.
17:14And it's kind of like a triple win if you think about it
17:17because it reduces reflections inside the room.
17:20It reduces noise coming into the room from outside
17:23and it reduces noise leaving the room to go to other rooms.
17:26You might be seeing more of these around in the future.
17:29Or not seeing them because they blend in.
17:32The poker provoke machine.
17:34So you put two sets of cards on either side.
17:36Oh, shuffles them.
17:38That's a big job saved.
17:40And then it deals the cards to the players.
17:42I actually saw on there you can select how many players are playing.
17:45But it does say though there's a max of six.
17:47I feel like this is the kind of product that could become essential,
17:50but only if the execution is perfect.
17:52If it's finicky to use or it needs a lot of setup,
17:54it is just going to gather dust in a corner
17:56because ultimately it's not solving a problem
17:59that's particularly difficult to solve manually.
18:01So first off, here are two completely fresh out the box,
18:04unshuffled packs of cards.
18:06One with red backs, one with blue backs.
18:08So that we can see how thoroughly this machine can actually shuffle them.
18:13Yeah, this is kind of doing what I thought it was going to do,
18:20which is for the most part, it's taken one card from the red,
18:22then one card from the blue,
18:23then one card from the red,
18:24then one card from the blue.
18:25So it's not a perfect shuffle.
18:26It would actually benefit from some pre-shuffling
18:28if you take your card games really seriously.
18:30Then you control it with these remotes.
18:33Ooh, it's actually got a bit of a non-slip base.
18:36Nice touch.
18:37So let's say we're playing poker.
18:38You set the number of players on here.
18:40It actually lets me go all the way up to 10.
18:42Oh, I've just realized.
18:43Max 6 is the name of the product.
18:45That's such a user experience flop.
18:47And then each time I press this down, it should proceed to the next step.
18:54Wow.
18:56That was really cool.
18:57I expected the card throwing to be a little bit more chaotic,
19:00but each one has pretty much landed in the same formation.
19:04If you actually had a human dealer throwing cards at people,
19:07it wouldn't do that good of a job.
19:08Okay, so everyone's seen their cards, at which point it burns a card.
19:14And then those are the first three cards for the group,
19:16which I believe I called the flop.
19:19You do have to turn them over manually, though.
19:20It can't do that.
19:21And then you click to play the next one.
19:22It will burn.
19:23It will reveal the fourth card.
19:24So it understands the game.
19:25Wait, so it even tells you on the screen
19:27what the next card that's coming is called
19:30because the fifth card in Texas Hold'em is called the river.
19:33It's also cool is you can fit a bunch of different sizes of cards into this.
19:37So playing cards, but also trading cards, but even UNO cards.
19:43Let's imagine I'm with my friends.
19:47All right, we'll keep imagining.
19:48Each player takes their own remote,
19:50but this is so cool because let's say we'll call him Alex over here.
19:55Wants a card.
19:56He taps his remote.
19:57He gets a card.
19:58Or if David wants a card, he can have one here.
20:03I'm actually so impressed by that.
20:07Wow.
20:07Maybe I could get some friends finally.
20:10That's a very strange looking product.
20:13So the idea is you just kind of have this thing dangling around your neck throughout the day
20:17while it massages you with human-like hands.
20:20It really does look like a little alien doing a Naruto run.
20:23So I'm actually already a little terrified of this wand.
20:25And not just because it shares a name with the most notorious boss fight from Super Smash Bros.
20:29God, where were you when we did that cursed tech video?
20:35Well, there's no doubt in my mind that they are absolutely playing into how freakish this thing looks.
20:41There was absolutely no need to give this thing fingernails or toenails or whatever the hell these things are.
20:48And then the idea is when you turn it on, all of these fingers start needing you.
20:56And then there's a button here that separately controls the heat.
20:59And you can actually see it getting brighter as it gets hotter.
21:02And then you wear it so it rests on your neck.
21:05And these straps kind of wrap around you a little bit like a backpack.
21:09I kind of feel like I'm giving it a piggyback.
21:11It's not comfortable right now.
21:13But okay, let's try it.
21:14So...
21:14Ah!
21:15Oh, I feel like I'm being seized from the back.
21:18Oh, okay.
21:19No, you know what?
21:20When it starts, it's that really good bit around here that is just full-on targeting.
21:26It's actually just how I like it.
21:28Really hard and firm.
21:30Oh, do you know what?
21:30You could get used to this.
21:32And you kind of have like a headrest everywhere you go.
21:35I feel like I'm reclining right now.
21:36Oh!
21:38Try it.
21:39It feels so good.
21:40It looks like Shrek's giving you a back design.
21:42Shrek couldn't do it this good.
21:44I mean, don't get me wrong.
21:45You'd look like a right case walking around in public with it.
21:48But would it be worth it?
21:49I'm going to have to say yes.
21:51My boyfriend and I don't text anymore.
21:53We just talk via robot.
21:55What?
21:55Can we have pizza for dinner?
21:57Okay.
21:58You want to pick it up?
22:00Yeah, I'll pick it up.
22:00Okay.
22:01Oh, so he's like at work.
22:02She's at home.
22:04And they're using it to talk to each other.
22:05Oh!
22:06I feel like I shouldn't be watching this.
22:08So we've actually bought the expert version of this one.
22:11And it's kind of interesting.
22:12It's called the Patrol Bot.
22:13So while the ad made it look like a long-distance relationship repair device,
22:17it's actually more about home security,
22:19which, to be honest, makes a bit more sense.
22:22So it's basically like a Roomba mixed with CCTV.
22:25It's got a dock that it can return to automatically.
22:28And then at any point, you can log into the app,
22:30drive it around and see what it is seeing.
22:33Oh, it's actually kind of nippy.
22:35Why does it sound like Mario?
22:36The feed quality is actually not bad at all.
22:38It's a little bit strange because it's like the least intimidating possible form of Patrol Bot I've ever seen.
22:47And I'm just imagining being a thief and then that thing walks up to me.
22:51It feels more like it's designed to entertain a child or a pet.
22:57Oh, drives on carpet.
22:58That's actually quite a difficult thing to do.
23:00So it must have some pretty good tracks on it.
23:02Footage could do with some stabilization.
23:03Where is she?
23:06Hello.
23:08Do I sound intimidating?
23:10You sound cute.
23:11That's not the point.
23:12Hey, hey, put me down.
23:16I'm having a pet, sorry.
23:18Are we watching a movie project?
23:19And by movie, you mean our last video.
23:22I guess in a way, I kind of see it.
23:25I still wouldn't choose to buy one.
23:26It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, put it that way.
23:28I hate that I actually like this.
23:29It's more real than I expected.
23:31Like I feel more present.
23:32The voice coming out of this and you having control to move around does make it feel like there's a mini version of you there.
23:38Also, the actual recorded video quality is quite a lot sharper than this.
23:41This is just what gets live streamed to the phone so you can see it.
23:44So I actually like it.
23:47Somehow.
23:48This is actually a really interesting idea.
23:50So kind of like the Samsung frame TVs, you can display any image on them and it makes them look like paintings.
23:56But with the upside of this being e-paper.
23:59So it's using e-ink, which consumes almost no power.
24:01I'm very interested.
24:03The only thing I'm thinking is, does the fact that it's using e-ink make the image look less good?
24:08I'm a massive fan of set it and forget it gadgets like this.
24:11I just feel like as soon as you introduce maintenance or batteries that need to be charged regularly, you're way less likely to actually use something.
24:17So it's pretty exciting that this manages to sidestep all of that because the battery on this frame lasts so long that you can put over a thousand different photos onto it on a single charge.
24:28And yeah, it's number of photos displayed, not time used, because the only time this type of display drains any power is when you're changing what's on it.
24:36And that process, by the way, is probably the coolest part of this frame.
24:39So you select any one of the photos.
24:42They've got a whole gallery of their own, but this is one of my favorite ones of Drisha and I.
24:45And then you see it says ready to scan.
24:47Well, all I need to do now is tap it onto this bottom corner and literally like Apple paying for something, it transfers the image to the frame.
24:54It takes a total of about 30 seconds to get the image onto there.
24:56But it's so cool seeing it move the e-ink particles to just the right position.
25:03Okay.
25:04I just don't think that looks quite good enough to use.
25:07So just for reference, we printed the same photo onto glossy photo paper ourselves, but it still looks like a hundred times better.
25:15It's brighter.
25:16The colors look more natural.
25:17It's the resolution.
25:18I feel like if this was half the price, it would maybe be recommendable.
25:22But you'd have to use the image replacement feature a very large amount of times to justify how much more expensive and worse this is than just putting a photo in a frame.
25:32Imagine being able to help your dad stay close with his grandchildren.
25:36I feel like I'm being emotionally manipulated.
25:39An easy to use phone for older adults that makes life easier, not harder.
25:42Bezels look absolutely horrendous.
25:44It does say fast, reliable 5G and sharp, crisp photos, but I have doubts.
25:48Well, I have never seen a phone presented like this.
25:53It's actually kind of nice.
25:54You've got the SIM ejector labeled here, a stylus, which kind of makes sense as a thing to include because people who aren't as comfortable with phones might be more comfortable with pen and paper.
26:03The charger is clearly laid out.
26:04And then the phone itself, which also comes with a case, a screen protector pre-installed, and even points to what the buttons do.
26:12But really, the primary value add here is this new software skin that they've created.
26:17The idea being to turn the full complexity of Android into a list that, to be fair, is pretty nice and readable.
26:24But the compromises are very immediately obvious.
26:27Like, this display is not a $400 phone display.
26:31They've fenced off the user interface so that it doesn't go to the top part of the screen.
26:35It just makes it feel like a poorly optimized app.
26:39Wait a second.
26:44Is that...
26:45That's actually not the same phone as on the website.
26:50There's only one design of the Chatsy phone on the site.
26:53And it's not this.
26:54So who are you?
26:55I'm actually curious if this sticker is like a tactical thing to cover up a brand.
27:00Oh my goodness.
27:01It's an Ookitel phone.
27:02Does that mean that we can then just find out exactly which Ookitel phone?
27:05Aliexpress.
27:07Ookitel...
27:07Cheap...
27:08Phone.
27:10Uh-oh.
27:11I think I may have found it.
27:12It's a tiny bit different but basically the same thing.
27:14Also, looking at the back of this phone, two of the cameras don't actually look like they have real lenses behind them.
27:20Okay.
27:21Let's actually try going into the camera.
27:22So we have a one-times lens.
27:24There's no telephoto camera and there's no ultrawide camera.
27:27That is so strange.
27:29Because fake phones do that.
27:31But Ookitel is at least a legitimate brand.
27:34Even if the phones they make are cheap.
27:36I mean, regardless, it's pretty clear what's happening here.
27:39Someone has imported a very cheap phone from China.
27:42They've added in a few extras that are cheap to make.
27:44Like a clear case, a new software skin and a stylus that has the exact same level of precision as your finger anyway.
27:51And then they're using those cheap things to reposition the phone in a way that they can upcharge it.
27:56It gets stranger.
27:57Because there is actually a subscription service that goes along with this.
28:01You don't need to pay it but you kind of do to get the main perks of this device.
28:06So it costs the equivalent of $30 extra per month.
28:09And for that, you get your calls, you get your texts, and then you get 4 gigs of data.
28:13But then also, apparently, access to a 24-7 customer support hotline.
28:17It actually comes with a card that has the number spelled out for you.
28:21So that's something.
28:22Oh my god, the dialer is so unresponsive.
28:28Hello, I'm sorry for calling.
28:30Champion customer care.
28:31How can I help you today?
28:32Hi, my name is Qbert.
28:36I can't seem to download an app.
28:38I'm so sorry to hear.
28:39Which is kind of an app that you're trying to download.
28:41I just don't know how to do it.
28:43Oh, right.
28:44I'm so sorry to hear.
28:45What I'll do is I will pick up one of our handsets here we have in the office.
28:49How about we see if we can walk you through this, okay?
28:51Okay, thank you.
28:53Absolutely.
28:55Well, he was actually kind of delightful.
28:58I really don't know what to think.
29:00I think this product is simultaneously very clear with how it's making money.
29:05And it's clearly making money because this hardware did not cost them very much at all.
29:09While also still being useful for that specific demographic it's targeting.
29:14Because if you do not care about how it looks, then the user interface is very clear.
29:18The customer support is amazing.
29:19And this monthly plan does come with a bunch of other things too.
29:22Like the ability for your family to remote in to be able to see your screen and help you out if you're stuck.
29:28Or next day phone replacement if you lose yours.
29:31It's different, that's for sure.
29:33So this is the Aura Displays Triple Boost.
29:37Wow.
29:38Holy moly.
29:39You get three extra monitors from your one laptop being plugged in.
29:43And it seems like it's just via one cable.
29:46This is one of those products that looks absolutely sick in adverts.
29:49But I'm so curious if in reality it feels clunky.
29:52Okay, so we've got this big bold sleeve on the outside of the box.
29:56And then the inner box is upside down.
29:58This is a lot more common than you might think.
30:00But a bit of a red flag whenever I see it.
30:02Because I think it signals a lack of attention to detail.
30:05And this is the device itself.
30:08It is chunky, but in a way less chunky than you might expect.
30:11Given that it has literally three monitors inside of it.
30:14So this is supposedly the highest quality triple screen extender ever built.
30:19It's made entirely of aluminium.
30:20So Tim Cook would be happy.
30:23Wow.
30:24So one thing.
30:25It isn't attached to the laptop like it looked.
30:27Which makes sense.
30:28Because obviously you completely destroy your laptop's hinge.
30:31Trying to open and close it with three monitors attached.
30:33But it doesn't feel tremendously secure.
30:35But then at the same time, it is cool.
30:38That all of this is just powered by one single Thunderbolt cable.
30:41Single cable into the laptop.
30:43Moment of truth.
30:44Ooh.
30:45So each of these screens is 14 inches.
30:47Which is kind of cool.
30:48Because it's exactly the same as the screen size of my Mac.
30:51So from a distance, the setup looks epic.
30:53And it is also just the easiest way to have a quad monitor setup that just works.
30:58But it's not as good as doing it properly.
30:59When you look up close, it is very obvious that these screens are not MacBook quality.
31:05They're basically 1080p IPS panels.
31:07So anything that needs precise colour or would benefit from high resolution or even high brightness,
31:12you're still going to want to do on your main screen.
31:14So what would I do on this?
31:15I would probably write our video scripts on the top screen.
31:17Because that's closest to eye level.
31:19So you've got less neck screen.
31:20Obviously using the Opera browser, our sponsor.
31:22I'd have Slack open over here so I can see new messages in my peripheral vision when they come up.
31:27My to-do list for the day in the middle.
31:29And then YouTube on this side.
31:31Because if I ever wanted to show you what I was watching, it's a little bit clunky.
31:36But pretty cool that you can flip it all the way around.
31:38But that kind of brings me to my point, which is that I wouldn't use the Aura display.
31:42If I wanted a permanent home setup, then this isn't close to the quality that you can get from three dedicated proper monitors.
31:49And then if I was travelling, I just don't feel like you need it.
31:53Like if you want to do two things at once on the Opera browser, you just drag one tab into the middle and it instantly split screens.
31:59If I want quick access to my Slack work messages, I can have them in my sidebar.
32:03That doesn't really take any extra time to get to than having a dedicated monitor.
32:07And then for YouTube, Opera has pop out.
32:09So if I start playing a video in one tab, but then I want to carry on writing, the video will just follow me to the tab that I'm on.
32:15And then it's just the fact that you can get that while saving battery with Opera compared to completely nuking it, trying to power three separate extra screens on the go.
32:23So link below to download Opera for free.
32:25And then this Aura display, I would say it delivers on what it promised.
32:28It's just you realise when you're using it that what it promises is such a niche proposition that, well, I wouldn't use it.
32:36All right, let's check on this print.
32:38Oh my God, that is so impressive.
32:41The creases in my shirt, you can feel them, but it's also got the contours.
32:45Drisha's hoodie that's draped around her.
32:48You can feel the folds and the chain of the handbag.
32:51I can feel the brickwork in the background of this image.
32:54And even the bits of graffiti that have been written on the tile.
32:57That is kind of mind-blowing because it's done all of that automatically.
33:02The machine has decided what bits need engraving.
33:04So like, this is incredibly expensive.
33:06I don't know what I would do with it on a day-to-day basis, but you cannot argue with the result.
33:12Right.
33:13It has been nearly four hours since I breeze-sprayed myself, which means...
33:18Is it time?
33:19I think it's time.
33:19You look really excited.
33:20I'm curious.
33:22This will be a new step in our relationship.
33:24You have to scientifically rate what you experience as well.
33:28Okay.
33:31Yeah, it just smells like nothing.
33:33No, but that's great.
33:34That's the best thing anyone could possibly say about your breath, right?
33:37So that actually kind of makes this a pretty good product.
33:40Because it's going to way outlast an equivalent size of gum in terms of mouth freshness.
33:46The only other consideration then is just, is it bad for you?
33:49I did have a look at the ingredients list.
33:51Doesn't look all that positive, but then you are only consuming it in very tiny quantities.
33:56I'd probably give it 80%.
33:57Which means of everything we have tested today,
34:00while the success rate was definitely higher than I was expecting,
34:04There is one clear product to rule them all.
34:06It's got to be these Glowrite lamps.
34:08They're not gimmicky.
34:09They're just good.
