00:00This is a $1,300 Samsung S25 Ultra.
00:03This is a $300 fake.
00:05They look almost identical.
00:07So I've decided to buy 10 of the most recognizable tech products.
00:10And for every one, we have found the best fake version on the internet
00:13to find out, are the fakes actually sometimes better value?
00:17So let's start with speakers.
00:18So this is the real $300 Harman Kardon Aura Studio 4.
00:22And then this is the $80 2025 LP90 Crystal Pro Bluetooth Speaker
00:29Harman-like base fourth gen with TF card slot and FM radio.
00:34Catchy.
00:37So the fake one is like 15% smaller.
00:40It's got slightly more obvious buttons and the glass,
00:43the plastic has a bit more of a tint to it.
00:46I wouldn't say anything about it looks or feels worse.
00:49Yeah, it's a tiny bit heavier, but not more than you'd expect,
00:52given it's a little bit bigger.
00:53Plus the real one's plastic too.
00:55So really, this just comes down to sound.
00:57The real one describes itself as having superior sound performance.
01:00And then the fake has shocking overweight bass.
01:03Not gonna lie, I love it when my bass weighs too much.
01:08Whoa, that's sick.
01:10Okay, so this is the real one.
01:11It sounds very punchy.
01:13It's got plenty of bass.
01:14Not the clearest speaker I've ever heard.
01:16I'd give it like a 7 out of 10.
01:18And then there's a whole load of lighting effects
01:19that you can cycle through like this.
01:21They're sophisticated.
01:22So now the fake, which I just found out two minutes ago,
01:25has a battery inside.
01:26So it doesn't need to be plugged in like the real one does.
01:29So is it better?
01:38What?
01:39It sounds just as clear.
01:40It's just as bassy.
01:42And it's like louder.
01:44The lighting's brighter.
01:45How does this happen?
01:47Does it still have the lighting modes?
01:49Yes.
01:50Oh my God.
01:50They're like way braver with the colors it uses, but it's just more fun.
01:54And these are actually syncing to the music that's playing.
01:57So given that this was literally a quarter of the price of this speaker,
02:00that is an easy point to the fakes.
02:04What about the smartphone?
02:05So this is what the real Samsung flagship phone unboxing experience is like.
02:09And the first thing to note about this fake is how it's kind of better.
02:15How even though the Samsung style box doesn't have space for accessories,
02:19they've actually gone as far as to send them separately.
02:22A very official looking fast charger and then a standard squishy clear case.
02:26And then the box itself.
02:27It's got some outer plastic that the real doesn't, but the rest of it is so faithfully recreated that
02:33I can't see how the vast majority of people would ever know any different.
02:37So externally, I actually think I prefer the fake.
02:40It's properly black as opposed to this weird black silver hybrid that makes it look like this
02:45back plate is a spare part.
02:47I'm really curious about this fake super fast charger.
02:50So if we plug the real charger into a fast charging phone, it's hovering around 20 watts of power.
02:57Fine.
02:57So if we plug in the fake charger, that is giving us also 20 watts on the dot.
03:03Oh, it starts with the official Samsung wallpaper, which is also animated.
03:07I've never seen that before on a fake.
03:09The user interface as well is like shockingly spot on.
03:12It genuinely feels like it's using screenshots of official Samsung icons.
03:16And obviously this is not a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra screen, but it's not bad at all.
03:22So they've kind of recreated Samsung's camera user interface too.
03:25They call photo picture.
03:27And that's all you need to know.
03:32That sound effect kills me.
03:33Do you know what?
03:33The detail is actually not a million miles away.
03:35It's just everything else.
03:37It's making me realize how much difference it makes just having good skin tones.
03:40Oh wait, the website for this fake actually says
03:43show 64 megapixel, really 8 megapixel.
03:47How incredibly self-aware are them?
03:49Actually curious, does the S Pen work?
03:52Oh, no way.
03:53It's actually got S Note.
03:55It even tells me my pen is on 100% battery.
03:57It's not as bad as you'd expect it to be.
04:00There's a tiny bit of lag, but actually still very usable as a drawing pad.
04:04I was not expecting that.
04:05They've actually semi-recreated like every single one of Samsung's features,
04:09even things like Smart Select.
04:10So you can take customized screenshots.
04:13What if you're a power user?
04:14Let's play a game.
04:15Let's try some Angry Birds.
04:16The storage speed here is like appallingly slow.
04:20I actually can't believe how slow this is loading.
04:23It's incredible how the phone seems so okay when you're on the home screen.
04:26And then just how quickly it falls apart when you try and do something.
04:29They've clearly put $300 worth of effort into this phone,
04:32but they've put it all into just trying to recreate something that's better
04:35without actually making it better.
04:37Oh yeah, they did also say on the website that this fake has a 6,800 mAh battery.
04:42The real is only 5,000.
04:43So just because of how insane that sounds,
04:46let's leave these both running the game and come back later to check on battery life.
04:50Now we've seen tons of fake speakers and fake phones in our time,
04:53but while researching for this video, I've also found a few surprises.
04:57So this is the $350 real Dyson V8 Absolute vacuum cleaner.
05:02And this is the very clearly inspired by it $120 VacTech Pro.
05:10I mean, it's not like the Dyson was a particularly fancy unboxing,
05:12but this is still lower tier for sure.
05:15Oh no, no, a knife, which was not a knockoff.
05:20A few moments later.
05:22Anyways, still got tons of pieces and attachments in here,
05:25which is very much a Dyson thing to do.
05:27And then this is the main body of the vacuum.
05:30This is a little bit crazy.
05:32They've copied everything down to like,
05:34even the position of all the buttons and the catches.
05:37Even the color of the orange tube here,
05:39feels like it has been specifically color matched to Dyson's.
05:43And I'm not actually sure that's a complaint,
05:45because it feels exactly the same quality.
05:48Everything that's plastic here is also plastic here.
05:51This really is like the most egregious example of not claiming to be the brand,
05:56but absolutely trying to be mistaken for them.
05:58Even the way they've made the thing lean in the same direction as Dyson on their product page,
06:02and then surrounding it with even more images of accessories to make it look even better.
06:07Hey, if it sucks just as well, then I'm not complaining for spending a third of the money.
06:11So, black rice, got crumbs, and then it's hair.
06:20Don't ask.
06:21Three, two, one, go!
06:24Oh, yeah.
06:27No way.
06:31Well, that is every bit as easy as I expected.
06:33I would actually say there's a pretty clear winner here.
06:46And it's not the Dyson.
06:47It just glided so smooth.
06:49And one stroke was picking up every single layer of dirt.
06:51Whereas in some cases, like with the hair,
06:53the Dyson was actually rubbing it further in.
06:55So I guess that's a clean sweep.
06:59Two, one, to the fakes.
07:01Now, just like the Dyson, the $100 Amazon Ring doorbell is another
07:05absolute staple that you would expect to see in a high-end smart home.
07:12But what if you just wanted to be frugal?
07:13Or what if your grandma got confused and accidentally bought the $30 video doorbell,
07:18wireless doorbell, smart Wi-Fi camera door, phone intercom with motion detection,
07:23waterproof for home security?
07:27Well, both of them are fully set up here.
07:29And brownie points already for the fake,
07:30for actually including the little speaker that will go off when the bell is rung.
07:34Or ding-dong, as they've called it.
07:36Which you have to buy separately for the ring.
07:38So let's go up one floor.
07:40So we've got both live feeds loaded up now.
07:42The fake did say that it had a wider field of view than the original.
07:45That's just a lie.
07:47The Amazon Ring can see about two times what the fake can.
07:49Which means, let's say you have a burglar approaching.
07:52It's so much easier to see them on the Amazon Ring.
07:54And the frame rate of this fake doorbell's recording is absolutely atrocious.
07:59I can see like one frame of him creeping across.
08:01So I mean, if you could only pick one of these as your main tool for surveillance,
08:05you don't want it to be this one.
08:06It's a real shame for the fake.
08:08Because the website did say that you can have a long and barrier-free distance.
08:13With super penetration.
08:16That is a disaster of a webpage.
08:18And a product.
08:19Tutu.
08:20Okay, so phones have been on for an hour.
08:23So the real Galaxy S25 Ultra is on 86%.
08:26The fake is on...
08:29What? 32?
08:31That's worse than my like lowest possible expectations.
08:34Okay, there's one final thing I think we should test for these phones.
08:37And we can do it with our next product.
08:39So this is a fake mini wearable camera.
08:42It's $50 and very clearly copied off of the Go cameras from Insta360.
08:47And then this is the real Insta360.
08:49And actually the next generation of it, the Go Ultra, our sponsor.
08:54Which is now a square instead of pill shaped.
08:59So here's what I want to do.
09:00I want to drop test both of these phones.
09:02To find out if all that investment into materials that we see phone companies talking about every
09:06single year actually makes any difference at all when it comes to it.
09:09But then the fake phone drop is going to be recorded on the fake Insta360 camera.
09:12Which is completely hands-free.
09:13Because just like Insta360, you also get this magnetic necklace here.
09:17Three, two, one.
09:22There's a very bad sound.
09:23The phone is actually functioning completely fine.
09:26The screen is 100% intact.
09:27It's just one corner has been completely pulverized.
09:31That is not a bad showing from the fake department.
09:34The footage is absolutely terrible.
09:36It's so grainy and needs like 100 times more stabilization.
09:40I guess this is kind of the level of engineering you expect for $50.
09:43So what about the real phone?
09:44Which we're going to record with the real camera.
09:46Oh, this is cool.
09:47So the magnetic pendant is now adjustable.
09:50So that you can pick the angle that you want the camera to shoot at.
09:53But also you can just mount this camera any way you can think of.
09:56I could clip it to a railing.
09:58I could dangle it from a net.
09:59I can hold it using the action pod that comes with it to turn it into a full-size action camera.
10:03And it's also got a magnet inside.
10:05So I could also just do that.
10:08So let's record this phone drop using it.
10:10And we can do this in 4K 60 frames per second with now a 221% larger sensor than last gen.
10:16So almost definitely a bigger sensor than the one in your phone,
10:19which is kind of insane considering the thing is like 53 grams.
10:23Okay, three, two, one.
10:29Okay, you know what?
10:30Fair play Samsung.
10:32Significantly less damage to the exterior.
10:34And absolutely zero damage to the usability of the phone.
10:37And link below to get one of these Go Ultras.
10:39It has suddenly turned horrible and dark, but it's doing surprisingly well considering.
10:44And first 30 purchasers also get a free extra 256 gig SD card.
10:49Now this is one that I'm interested in on a very personal level.
10:53So Dyson, as well as vacuum cleaners, is also pretty well known for their high-end
10:57bladeless fan and air purifiers.
10:59Like this one for $750.
11:04We use a Dyson in our bedroom every day.
11:09So I'm just super curious.
11:10What if you spent just $174 on a bladeless fan from AliExpress?
11:15So the packaging is very functional.
11:18Nothing more than it needs to be.
11:19Just a bunch of foam and the product.
11:22Oh, wow.
11:23This really, really looks like a Dyson.
11:25They've even got the signature Dyson colors too.
11:29Right.
11:30So just like the speaker situation, the real is about 15% bigger again than the fake.
11:36There doesn't feel like any significant quality differences between the two.
11:39Pretty much everything's plastic here, but then pretty much everything's plastic here too.
11:44The only thing is really the remote.
11:46Like the real Dyson is much swankier and magnetically snaps to the top compared to...
11:52Oh, whatever this is.
11:54Need to see how well each one blows.
11:55Yeah, boy.
11:57Mildly refreshing.
11:59Six out of ten.
12:00Okay.
12:01The fake.
12:01It's louder, but there's more air and the air is colder.
12:09Eight out of ten.
12:10But the real test is going to be purification.
12:13So let's start with the real one, which is on max suction power right now.
12:16So let's see how it handles this.
12:18It's getting kind of overwhelmed in there.
12:20You can still see the thing though, which implies it is sucking.
12:22It's actually gone and done it.
12:24I would actually say that is 100% clean.
12:26A little bit of staining down here, but that's just because that was where the smoke bomb was shooting.
12:30The actual air inside of there is pristine.
12:33Right.
12:33Same test with the fake.
12:34Bomb me.
12:37This one's also on maximum suction right now.
12:39It feels like it's drowning in it a little bit more than the real Dyson was.
12:43I am under the water.
12:45Just hope it's okay.
12:46I can see the blueness starting to thin a little bit.
12:48Even if this takes a tiny bit longer than the Dyson, if it still manages to completely clear all that pollution,
12:53then paying like four times the money doesn't feel like it makes a lot of sense at all.
12:58That is actually pretty shocking, to be honest.
13:02It's like both surprising because of how much more affordable it is and also not surprising.
13:07Because if it has good air intake and it has a full-size HEPA filter, then of course it's going to be able to clear it.
13:12It feels like the moral of the story is starting to become if the product's functionality is simple,
13:17then it's much more replicatable by a much more affordable fake alternative.
13:21Now Philips Hue feel like they have a bit of a monopoly when it comes to RGB lighting in the smart home.
13:26And they deserve it.
13:27They were the first company to actually popularize the idea of controlling your smart bulbs with your phone.
13:32So this is their Signi floor lamp.
13:35And then this is the floor lamp 2 from Govy, which I wouldn't exactly call it fake,
13:40but there is no doubt in my mind that Govy is at least somewhat inspired by Philips.
13:44They pretty much have a one-to-one equivalent offering for every Philips product.
13:48Hmm, interestingly, while the Philips comes fully assembled, this is a bit more of a DIY project.
13:54I guess that is one way to save, cut the shipping costs in half.
13:57So this is Philips, this is Govy.
13:59Let's start with a brightness test.
14:01Make the lights bright white.
14:06Okay, Philips responded a little faster, but that looks brighter to me, the Govy.
14:11Both lights are completely smart home compatible, so I can also say make the lights green.
14:18And actually, in that instance, the Govy responded faster, so it doesn't feel like there's anything in it.
14:24This actually feels like a little bit of a no-brainer here, because this thing is a third of the price.
14:29The base lights up, which I just think is such a cool extra.
14:32Then there's also a remote that magnetically attaches onto it in case you don't want to fiddle around with the app,
14:37or you don't have it installed on your phone.
14:39But that's the good point, actually.
14:40What are the apps like?
14:41So the Philips app is, I would say, very premium, and to be fair, also quite flexible.
14:47Like, I can pick any color I want to on here, and it responds almost immediately.
14:50We've got every different temperature of white on here.
14:53Tons of different effects, and they're not all static.
14:56Some of them have animations tied to them, too, that look like they're specifically designed for this floor lamp.
15:00So what about the Govy app?
15:02So we go into floor lamp.
15:03Oh, my God.
15:04It's a slight sensory overload.
15:06Okay, so you have the same kinds of options in terms of selecting specific colors.
15:10Then you've got scenes like sunset.
15:13Oh, wow.
15:13That's really nice.
15:14And then rainbow.
15:16Look at that.
15:17Do you see how it animates from the bottom up?
15:19Music.
15:21Oh, wow.
15:22Wait, so this is using presumably the microphone in the phone to pick up my voice,
15:28and is syncing to that quite responsively.
15:30That would actually be such a cool way to like add ambience to a party.
15:34Just have a couple of these in the corner.
15:35They've even got an option here called finger sketch,
15:38which, if that is what I think it is, means you can effectively draw on exactly the LEDs
15:44that you want to be lit, and in exactly what color you want those LEDs to be lit in.
15:49And then even the base down here, I can tweak from my phone one LED at a time.
15:54So if I wanted to do blue mixed in with white, and it's animating.
15:58Oh, my God.
15:59I'm having a nerdgasm, bear with me.
16:01Okay, that's just like no competition at all.
16:04Point to the fakes.
16:05The cost of buying official gaming controllers can really rack up.
16:09Like a basic Xbox controller.
16:11$65.
16:12You want four of them?
16:13That's $260.
16:14You can nearly buy a console for that much.
16:16So what if you spent just $25?
16:19Wow, this actually looks like the exact same box.
16:22If you just made it slightly worse from every single angle.
16:25How do all of these products look like there's some sort of
16:27internal requirement to sit on them before shipping them out?
16:30So when you look at both of these controllers, it's very obvious which one's which.
16:37Because the fake one has a home button instead of the Xbox button on the real one.
16:41But apart from that one detail, they look absolutely identical.
16:48Right, so it's got the grips on the back.
16:50It's got a nice weight to it.
16:52Really soft triggers.
16:54Nice joysticks.
16:55Let's try the other one.
16:56Oh my god.
17:00It feels the exact same.
17:01What the hell?
17:02Also really nice joysticks.
17:04No, come on.
17:09What the hell?
17:10Whichever one of these is the fake,
17:11they have done a masterful job at not making it feel like one.
17:14The D-pad also feels very responsive.
17:18This one feels a little bit more like it's just got four buttons, one in each direction.
17:22So this one's got to be the fake?
17:27Goodness sake, this is such a clear win for the fake.
17:30And it's just as responsive.
17:31It has USB-C charging.
17:33It's got replaceable batteries.
17:34They even both have rumble and it feels the same.
17:37You're not missing anything.
17:39Tell you what though, I have absolutely no idea what to expect for this.
17:42So this is Apple's official 11-inch iPad Pro.
17:51And this is a $160 fake.
17:54Wow.
17:55This is very interesting.
17:56Because, well first of all, it's easily one of the most convincing fake boxes we've seen.
18:00But also, while they still have the new iPad imagery and packaging style,
18:04they've actually gone as far as to specifically make the box thicker than Apple's.
18:08I assume to fit more inside.
18:10Apparently we have one terabyte of storage here.
18:12If that's true, this thing can instantly win Hall of Fame status, no questions asked.
18:16And even the Apple style peels.
18:19Not quite there, but they tried.
18:22And then iPad on top.
18:24There's a cable here.
18:26And then I feel like I'm in one of those TikToks where someone's telling me that Apple's been
18:30secretly hiding accessories in a separate compartment in the box.
18:33Oh, it's not a charger.
18:34This is a case.
18:36A proper folio case.
18:39Now, moment of truth.
18:44They've done a very good job at making sure it looks like the iPad.
18:48What they haven't quite kept up with is how thin the iPad is and how light it is.
18:52I would say this is about 1.8 times chunkier.
18:56The fake iPad actually has a slightly different aspect ratio to the real iPad.
19:01And I assume because this is a more conventional aspect ratio,
19:04so they can get this screen made cheaper.
19:06They've even remade the entire add new wallpaper page.
19:09But like, you can't actually click on anything.
19:12And then just like the iPad, you can pull down from the top right to get the control center.
19:16But it's like every single animation has been completely stripped.
19:19And half of them don't even work.
19:21Like this is the brightness slider going up and down, which it's animating,
19:24but it's just not doing.
19:26I guess the real question is, does it still allow you to do
19:28what most people would use their iPads for?
19:30To watch videos?
19:32Not really.
19:33It's a 720p resolution and not a great one.
19:37And I guess while it is vastly cheaper than a top-end iPad Pro,
19:41it's not actually that much cheaper than just a basic iPad.
19:45And that still has a far better viewing experience than this.
19:47Oh yeah, we need to see how much storage we're actually getting here.
19:50So iPad storage, no.
19:52It says 161 gigabytes of one terabyte used.
19:56I can't have used 161 gigabytes.
19:58I haven't installed anything.
20:00I've installed one app and it's YouTube.
20:02Okay.
20:03So I've run an actual storage analyzer app.
20:05And sure enough, 32 gigabytes of which nine gigabytes is used.
20:10The layers of deception here are insane.
20:12So yeah, just like the...
20:16I thought I full-sended that.
20:18Just like the phones, don't buy fake tablets.
20:20Bit of a waste of money.
20:22And now we're on the subject of Apple products, AirPods Max,
20:25which are a very nice looking pair of headphones for sure.
20:28I still haven't managed to get over their $549 price
20:32or the fact that they haven't actually upgraded the product since 2020.
20:36Hmm.
20:36Also one of the few times where it doesn't feel like Apple has nailed down
20:39the slickest unboxing and first impressions experience.
20:48Then these are the $60 AirWatch headphones,
20:51which feel like they're shooting for the worst first impressions experience.
20:56Genuinely looks like someone did the SIT test about 50 times on this one.
21:01Oh no.
21:02That wasn't good.
21:03Well, I guess that kind of does our unboxing for us.
21:05The AirWatch website is very intriguing.
21:11Experience music like never before.
21:13Superior noise cancellation.
21:15They are just the best headphones I've ever owned.
21:16He's got to be talking about the real AirPods, right?
21:19And is his name even Jacob?
21:20Oh, it's just so unbelievably sus.
21:22Well, let's see what the fuss is about then.
21:25So these are the fakes.
21:26They come in a, yeah, definitely not leather case.
21:30Very interesting.
21:31And then these are the reels, which come in a slightly nicer,
21:34but still very strange case for an Apple product, honestly.
21:37The interesting thing about this is never have I seen a fake
21:40that looks so similar to the real, but feels so different at the same time.
21:44Like these cushions feel absolutely terrible.
21:46The material looks metallic, but I assure you it is not.
21:50This is like as cheap as plastic gets.
21:52It's like creaking as I put it over my head.
21:56Are you freaking kidding me?
21:57The cups don't go around my ears because they are pointing diagonally outwards.
22:02I've never had a pair of headphones do that.
22:04And it just completely ruins the seal that you would normally get.
22:07So this is what the real sounds like.
22:09And it's like very good, but nothing special.
22:14Then the fakes.
22:16Oh man, it's actually such a shame because sound quality wise,
22:20no complaints at all.
22:22I just can't with these elephant ears.
22:24So this one is a win to AirPods Max.
22:28That's five points each.
22:29It's a draw between real and fake.
22:32Well, it's not a draw though.
22:33It's the best fake product of the video.
22:36It's got to be the Govee floor lamp.
22:38The lamp itself ain't gonna fit.
22:40So this is how we commemorate.
22:42Congratulations, Govee.
