A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a police officer with a sword in Sydney's southwest. Police say some of his colleagues gave critical first aid while others restrained the man.

00:05A 28-year-old probationary constable was allegedly stabbed in the leg
00:10while attending an incident in Grasmere near Camden yesterday evening.
00:14Police were called to the home due to a concern for welfare at around 5.20.
00:19On arrival, police were confronted with a 20-year-old male
00:23with a number of weapons including a spear, a hatchet
00:28and a large 50-centimetre sword.
00:30They attempted to arrest 20-year-old Andrea Siraci
00:34before he allegedly attacked officers.
00:37He's been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
00:40The first accusation revolves around the throwing of the spear at the police
