00:00Oh my girl what's up guys so Naila had a surgery she's actually busy recovering
00:07right now the vet had to come out and it created also an opportunity for my
00:12daughter Naila who was named after the Queen to physically get in touch with
00:16her the only one who hated the situation after Naila was sedated obviously was
00:22Dexter he got super pissed aggressive and just wanted to kill each and everyone
00:27who does not belong to the family and goes close to Naila
00:32oh
00:39yeah
00:43oh yeah uh-huh it's really bad okay so the plan now is i don't want to put leo out why don't i
01:07want to put leo out that he doesn't get into fights with dexter and snow through the fence
01:12we're gonna try to lure nyla out into the live wild area and then we're gonna go down and call
01:17the vet to come out she will have to be darted and i think her paw will need to be stitched
01:22hello hello dr sparks um i do have a little emergency nyla the lioness paw is actually
01:31lifting off her foot it's quite bad it's very deep let me know if if and when you could come out
01:39thank you so much bye bye um i will try to lure nyla and the ladies into that direction
01:45and then one of you guys will open up here for leo
01:49all right so i had to put dexter and snow into their original management camp which is within
02:06the live wild area so that i can place and lure nyla into the quattro camp which is the smallest
02:12confined space in the live wild where is nyla i can see her so we just lost sight of nyla and
02:24the live wild area is huge so we were worried that we won't find her quickly because the vet is on his
02:30way right now so we have to separate her but she just jumped out of a bush and she's right there
02:34nyla come come come
02:37so we're not gonna drive too fast because she has a hurt paw
02:44oh she doesn't care about the hurt paw
02:47she's such a warrior now you'll be seeing her running around like this now afterwards i'll show
03:06you the wound at her paw and then imagine her running around fearless like this with this type of wound
03:13almost come nyla come here
03:17there we go
03:33dexter dexter is clearly telling snow to
03:41get out of his way it's actually a good thing that we brought nyla here so i can see those two boys
03:47communicating with one another
03:49when a female is around so i know now for sure that dexter is the dominant one amongst them when it comes to females
03:57so when we put them together with the females again or with one of the females i have to obey dexter and not snow
04:04where of now sometimes when we go on walks snow acts up like the most dominant one and dexter is like
04:11taking it very easy and this is actually something there you can see dex and nyla
04:17they're pretty much in love
04:18yo boy gil
04:20hey you say hello to the boys
04:23okay i also have to
04:25be careful as soon as we see the vet and his car coming up i have to disappear
04:32until they did the darting leon who's holding the camera right now he can be here
04:38because he's never interacting with the lions physically but for me it's not going to be a safe
04:45thing because if she associates me with being on the side of the vet the one who's actually hurting
04:51her or not hurting but you know scaring her with the dart then she could associate negativity with me
04:59and that could impact and affect our relationship
05:06hello
05:09how's it going good to see you again so nyla is now in the quattro camp in the confined space
05:16okay cool see you in a bit
05:29okay cool see you again so
05:34you
05:36you
05:38you
05:40you
05:42you
05:46you
05:48you
05:50you
06:52All right, guys, Nyla is deeply asleep, hopefully deep enough right now, because I remember
07:02at the movement, she was waking up and jumping around, and that can happen.
07:07Nonetheless, she got two shots this time to just be sure, and now she's sleeping on the
07:12ground, and we can go in and check up on her paw and see what's the case.
07:17Dexter got very protective again.
07:20Obviously, I tried to calm him down a little bit by talking to him through the fence.
07:24Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
07:32Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
07:36You know, Dexter goes nuts if he sees stranger people or the vets coming closer to one of
07:54his family members, and that was the case as well right now.
08:06The cut is very bad, so we definitely need to stitch it up.
08:22Quite bad, huh?
08:23I mean, she didn't act too much as if she was very much in pain, but this will definitely
08:29get infected and flies, you know.
08:33That's not good or what?
08:41Or are you saying that she's more awake than we think?
08:44Yeah, I think maybe.
08:45If she would jump up, which she did already when we did the movement, you just don't run.
08:49You just go right behind the pole or so, she will not come towards you, she will just be
08:54like very confused and wobble around a little bit in case she jumps up, just saying, okay?
09:00Just don't start to run towards somewhere, okay, because otherwise you act like prey.
09:10And then we've got a premiere going on here.
09:13My daughter Naila, who is named after Naila, is going to first time in her short life put
09:20her hand on Naila.
09:21Let's do that quickly before we start with the procedure.
09:27I know she will never ever in her life be able to interact physically the way I do with
09:34the lions, but she will wish to be able to do so.
09:38And one day when she will wish to do that, and I have to say unfortunately, it's too dangerous,
09:44I can show her pictures of moments where she actually has been interacting with the lions
09:50on a physical basis, not only through the fence.
09:55When I saw her face and her eyes, when she laid her hands onto Naila, it was just absolutely unbelievable.
10:02That smile was different from Dada's smiles.
10:05And then she looked up to me as well, and she was like, Daddy, I'm touching her.
10:09And I was like, yeah, you are.
10:11That was unbelievable.
10:12The spikes they have on the tongue will get hooked up to them.
10:34All right, so we had a look at the paw, and we definitely had to clean out everything,
10:38disinfected.
10:39We are making now internal stitches, which are dissolvable, so that we don't have to
10:46sedate her again and take out the stitches.
10:48And ideally, she will...
10:51How long will it take her to get right again?
10:52What do you think?
10:53I think the wound should be healed within two weeks.
10:56Two weeks.
10:58Within two weeks, she should be healed again.
10:59The good thing is, the cut does not go underneath the actual paw.
11:03So when she's walking, she's not putting actual pressure on the cut.
11:08And that's a very good thing.
11:09Otherwise, it would have been a much bigger issue.
11:16I'm checking the reflexes.
11:17If she flinches with the ear when I'm touching it inside, that means that she's much more awake
11:22than we think she is.
11:23She's breathing well.
11:26The eyes look good as well.
11:28But then we always do that little check.
11:30And if the ear would do that one, we'd have to be careful, hurry up, or just give her
11:34a little bit more.
11:37Surgery is done.
11:40We're going to put the reverse drug in now, and it's going to take her a couple of minutes
11:44to wake up.
11:45And yeah, then we're just going to follow up with her recovery.
11:49Great success.
11:51Good luck.
11:56Hi, and welcome everybody.
11:59Oh, do you want to go into the picture?
12:02Bye, bye.
12:04Bye, bye.
12:05Bye, bye.
12:06Bye, bye.
12:07Bye, bye.
12:08Bye, bye.
12:09Bye, bye.
12:18what's up guys it's two days since Naila had her surgery where we had to stitch up her paw
12:45a security told me today that he thinks the paw might be open again she's kind of limping we came
12:51up here we checked through the fence and I think it's the reality the paw is open again we're gonna
12:55go in check on it now and most probably the vet has to come out again oh my god all right so
13:01I've taken pictures and videos I will send it through to the vet who treated her and then we'll
13:09find out if we need to bring him out again or not I think it's not 100% sure that he has to come
13:15out because they're they're quite tough I mean yes the wound is open again but lions are lions and
13:20they have to deal with much worse things in the wild than that and yeah obviously I want the best
13:26for Naila and that's why if he believes yeah there is a risk of infection and stuff like that even
13:32though she got a long acting antibiotic then we'll bring him out again but if he thinks ah it's not
13:39too bad and the antibiotic will do its job then we'll just let her heal like that I hope you guys
