00:09George Clooney wishes Joe Biden had moved forward in rerunning for president.

00:13In a CBS Sunday morning interview on Sunday, November 2nd, the actor weighed in on the 2024 election.

00:20Clooney, 64, did not think Kamala Harris should have replaced the Democrats' spot on the ballot,

00:25as she was given a tough task to take his place with a few months to go.

00:29Ironically, Clooney wrote an essay in July 2024, calling for Biden to step down and put a healthier candidate forward.

00:36When asked during Sunday's interview if he would publish his opinions again, if given the chance, the movie star said, yes, we had a chance.

00:44He continued, I wanted there to be, as I wrote in the op-ed, a primary.

00:48Let's battle test this quickly and get it up and going.

00:51I think the mistake with it being Kamala is she had to run against her own record.

00:55It's very hard to do if the point of running is to say, I'm not that person.

00:59It's hard to do.

01:00And so she was given a very tough task.

01:03I think it was a mistake, quite honestly.

01:05But we are where we are.

01:06We were going to lose more House seats, they say.

01:08So I don't know.

01:10To not do it would be to say, I'm not going to tell the truth.

01:13In Clooney's 2024 piece, he claimed, we are not going to win in November with this president.

01:19On top of that, we won't win the House and we're going to lose the Senate.

01:22This isn't only my opinion, this is the opinion of every senator and congressmember and governor

01:27that I've spoken with in private.

01:29Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.

01:33The Broadway star previously told CNN's Jake Tapper that he felt it was his civic duty to

01:38show others why Biden needed to be replaced.

01:41That's the deal.

01:42You have to take your stand if you believe in it, he said.

01:45Take a stand, stand for it, and then deal with the consequences.

01:48That's the rules.

01:49So when people criticize me, they criticized me for my stance against the war 20 years ago,

01:54people picketed my movies, and they put me on a deck of cards.

01:57I have to take that, that's fair.

01:59I'm okay with that.

02:00I'm okay with criticism for where I stand.

02:02I defend their right to criticize me as much as I defend my right to criticize them.
