Police in Wichita, Kansas, have arrested former TV news anchor Angelynn Elizabeth Mock, 47, in connection with the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers.

According to a statement from the Wichita Police Department, officers responded to a call around 7:50 a.m. on October 31 reporting a possible stabbing at a home in southeast Wichita. When officers arrived, they found Mock outside the residence. Inside, they discovered Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.

Avers was rushed to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 8:30 a.m. Mock was also taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries before being booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Her bond was set at $1 million.

Authorities have not released a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Mock previously worked as a reporter and anchor for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, according to local news outlets and her LinkedIn profile, which describes her as a “veteran broadcast journalist with 12 years of experience.”
