00:00A bank employee has been charged for their alleged role in a multi-million
00:14dollar fraud syndicate across Sydney. Detectives launched an investigation in
00:19January 2024 looking into a criminal syndicate targeting Sydney automotive
00:24financing companies. The task force has charged 15 people. Police allege that
00:29the syndicate was using stolen personal information to apply for loans through
00:33various financial companies to purchase luxury ghost cars that did not exist.
00:38After ongoing investigations police alleged that the syndicate's operations
00:42extended well beyond car financing fraud to large-scale personal business and
00:47home loan fraud. Police arrested a 36 year old man in Bonnyrig. Police will
00:52allege the man used his position as a bank employee to assist the syndicate in
00:56applying for approximately 10 million dollars worth of business loans.
