00:50Why did you vote for him?
00:53I voted for him because he represents the kind of leadership that the city needs at this
00:59moment of time that we've been missing for so long with the previous mayor and it's just
01:06I feel hopeful for the first time in what feels like forever.
01:10What of the program for you is the most important thing?
01:15Affordability is number one, the most important as a native New Yorker and I really think
01:20that's going to be achievable with the fiscal plans that he put forward, the universal
01:26childcare, I think is going to be a game changer for New Yorkers.
01:29Mom Donnie also has a policy platform that I really agree with and I think it's based
01:34on sort of compassion and care for the city of New York, so that's why I voted for him.
01:40I actually changed my restrictions for the first time to New York City just to vote for
01:45him, I really just like his policies. I think he's like bringing something new to the
01:48table. We already had Andrew Cuomo in office and he clearly did do a good job.
01:53I think that he's going to be really good for the city. None of the other candidates are
01:56really strong for the city and he brings a new energy and like a younger energy that we're
02:01severely missing in politics right now, so a new face will be good for New York.
02:07I'm a teacher and affordability.
02:10Affordability, we love New York. We want to make New York the best place it can be and
02:14he can do that. Somebody that didn't vote for him feel like he's scared because they call
02:21him a communist or they say that he's anti-Semite. What do you respond?
02:30In terms of communism, you're coming from Italy, you have social services there, you have health
02:35care, you have an investment in the people. We want that here too in the States.
02:40Yes, we want that here. And Mamdani has done such an amazing job meeting with the Jewish
02:45community in New York and as a Jewish person who grew up in New York, I don't feel like
02:50he's a threat to us. I think he's only working to build bridges with us. We love him.
02:55I agree with most of his policies. He's inspiring and idealistic. I'm a democratic socialist.
03:00What do you want now to do first thing?
03:05I think the rent freeze would be nice. It doesn't affect me, but it should affect the
03:09people who actually need it. I think he should do his best to make good on his promises.
03:15I think he should hire an excellent security detail.
03:18What would you like that Zora Mandani do first thing when he's mayor of New York City?
03:27Freeze the rent.
03:28Is this a vote against President Trump too?
03:33No, this is a New York mayor race, right? So Zoran is the best person for New York City,
03:42to run New York City. He has New York City's best interests at heart. So this is why we support him.
03:49I already appreciate how he treats people like human beings and sees the humanity in all of us.
03:54So he's already got my vote. He's already got everything good to walk into the office.
03:59and I would like for him to, as much as he can, not get corrupted by the interests that are going to
04:06come at him. So that's all I want.
04:08It's tremendously exciting to have someone who has fresh ideas, who wants to really listen to the
04:15majority of New Yorkers and make it an affordable place to live, which is not a city for the
04:21billionaires, but it's a city for the people.
04:24The New York mayorship for a long time, it's been associated with corruption. You know, a lot of negative
04:28things that we're seeing all around our country in terms of graft, in terms of, in terms of perverse
04:34interests. I think, I think when he, at the very first he's been doing this throughout his campaign,
04:39he's embodying a better vision for New York. I want to see him protect the citizens of New York City
04:45from ICE, for instance. I think we've seen some outrageous infractions on that front. So if he can
04:50protect the residents of New York City from ICE, that would be a great first step.
04:55Did he vote, sir?
04:56Yes, I voted, yeah.
04:58Are you happy tonight?
04:59No, not at all.
05:01For whom did you vote?
05:04Cuomo.
05:05So why do you think Bandani is not going to be a good mayor for New York?
05:09Because he is a child who espouses socialism. And maybe when he grows up, he'll know better. But for
05:18the moment, we will have to survive this.
05:21I voted for Bandani because he's young. He has new, brand new ideas. And he's most importantly
05:29talking about making the city more affordable, right? And what I think that he should do first
05:34when he's in office, besides sell a rate, right? I really think he should tackle the affordable
05:40housing. And then free buses, yeah.
05:44I hope he comes through with his promises about free buses and increasing the rent and affordability.
05:50But it honestly has just been so nice to see a politician have a backbone and like a moral grounding.
05:56I'm very happy and proud that this happened tonight.
05:58What do you want Bandani to do first thing when he will be the mayor of New York City?
06:05The first thing? I mean, what he said he's going to do. Freeze the rent, fast and free buses,
06:12hopefully child care, affordability. I hope he delivers. It'll be hard, but I think he can do it.
06:19Do you think this is also vote against President Trump?
06:23Oh, definitely. Yeah, for sure.
06:26The middle class people that are striving off the streets and working a lot to pay high rent,
06:34food has gone up in the last couple of years. And there's so much homelessness in New York City
06:40more than ever before. And they're sleeping on their trains, you know, it's a lot of cops.
06:46They're not really doing their job, honestly, down here, as they should be.
06:49I believe and hope that he just makes New York affordable. That's it.
06:56I really appreciate he believes in something. I think it's going to be a challenge for him to
07:01follow through on his promises, but I really believe in his values and what he stands for.
07:10I've not been this happy since Obama won his second chair. Anything he can do to make this city more
07:17affordable for regular people will be a win. And do you think this is a vote also against
07:22President Trump? Absolutely.
