President Donald Trump slammed Senate Democrats, calling the ongoing government shutdown “disastrous” and claiming it is now officially the longest in American history. In a pointed statement, the president accused what he called “Democrat radicals” of showing no interest in reopening the government and warned they would “take down the country if they have to.”

The shutdown, affecting federal employees and services nationwide, has heightened political tensions and sparked debates over funding priorities and party responsibilities. Republicans and Democrats continue to clash over the terms of government spending, with millions of Americans impacted by delayed services and furloughed workers.

00:00So, as you know, we are in the midst of a disastrous Democrat-created government shutdown.
00:09And it is Democrat-created, but I don't think they're getting really the blame that they should.
00:13That's now officially the longest shutdown in American history.
00:17The Democrat radicals in the Senate have shown zero interest in reopening the government.
00:23And I don't think they'll act so soon. A lot of people disagree.
00:27I've been saying for the last 30 days, we've had four or five different points.
00:32Yes, sir, they're going to get it right now. We should have it done in a day.
00:35I've heard that about four times. I heard it after King's. You know, they said I was a king.
00:40And I heard it after King's. I heard it after a couple of other moments in time.
00:45And I said, no, I don't believe so. And now I heard it's after the election. I don't believe so.
00:50I think they will. I think they're kamikaze pilots. I just got back from Japan.
00:53I talked about the kamikaze pilots. I think these guys are kamikaze.
00:57They'll take down the country if they have to. So I don't think so.
01:00Millions of Americans are going to be without SNAP benefits.
01:04And I will say about SNAP benefits. So when I was president, we had $7 billion worth.
01:10And now they have many times that because these benefits were given to anybody that asked.
01:14And they're up to, I hear, just many times, $47 billion.
01:21So it wasn't the purpose of SNAP. It was for people that really had problems, down and out, people that really had problems.
01:29But during Biden, they gave it to anybody that wanted it.
01:32I think it's something you have to talk about because the numbers are incredible.
01:36But countless public servants are now not being paid, and the air traffic control system is under increasing strain.
01:44We must get the government back open soon and really immediately.
01:48We have to get it open. We have the hottest economy we've ever had.
01:52And it's affecting the stock market now a little bit.
01:55But the stock market, as of Friday, has hit many record highs during the last nine months.
02:01Many. And it will, again, this is just the beginning, because when these plants that are being built right now start opening up,
02:09we've never had anything like this as a boom.
02:11There's a construction boom right now, but that's going to be bigger than that.
02:14That's going to be an economic boom as soon as they open up.
02:18And it's going to be something special.
02:20We have car companies coming in.
02:22When I was in Japan, Toyota, Mr. Toyota, I said, what's your name?
02:26Toyota. I said, oh, you're rich.
02:28I said, how much of the company do you own?
02:3392.1%.
02:35I said, I'm glad you said the one he wants to be.
02:38I said, you're a rich guy.
02:40And he said, I'm investing $10 billion in the U.S.
02:44And you know who I'm talking about, right?
02:46You introduced me, Mr. Senator.
02:49You introduced me originally when you were the ambassador to Japan.
02:53He's still good. He's still strong.
02:54But he had no interest in investing in this country.
02:57Now he's investing $10 billion as of one week ago in building new plants.
03:02We have auto plants coming in incredibly.
03:04But we have AI and all of them.
03:06And we can't be extorted to give $1.5 trillion to people that came into the country illegally,
03:14many from prisons, many drug dealers.
03:17A lot of people came in from mental institutions.
03:20They want to give a lot of money to the people that came in illegally.
03:24We have to get them out.
03:25We can't.
03:25No country can sustain that.
03:27That's not like an attack on our country.
03:29In no country, these are not going to be productive people.
03:31These are going to be anti-productive people.
03:34And we can all have big hearts.
03:36They have a bigger heart than anybody.
03:37But we can't let that happen.
03:38And it's time for Republicans to do what they have to do, and that's terminate the filibuster.
03:43It's the only way you can do it.
03:45And if you don't terminate the filibuster, you'll be in bad shape.
03:49We won't pass any legislation.
03:51There'll be no legislation passed for three and a quarter.
03:53We have three and a quarter years.
03:54That's a long time.
03:55But when they can't do an extension, and John, I think they've done an extension every single
04:00time they've ever been asked forever.
04:03This is the first time they haven't done an extension.
04:05Extensions are supposed to be easy.
04:06But if they won't do an extension, they won't do any bill, even a simple bill.
04:10And we should do our own bills.
04:11We should get out.
04:12We should do our own bills.
04:14We should open up.
04:15We should start tonight with the country's open.
04:19Congratulations.
04:19Then we should pass voter ID.
04:23We should pass no mail-in voting.
04:25We should pass all the things that we want to pass, make our election secure and safe,
04:28because California is a disaster.
04:31Many of the states are disasters.
04:33But can you imagine when they vote almost unanimously against voter ID?
04:37All we want is voter ID.
04:39You go to a grocery store, you have to give ID.
04:42You go to a gas station, you give ID.
04:44But for voting, they want no voter ID.
04:46It's only for one reason, because they cheat.
04:48We would pass that in 15 minutes.
04:51If you don't get it, you'll never pass that.
04:53You'll never talk about mail-in ballots.
04:56Mail-in ballots make it automatically corrupt.
04:58If you have mail-in ballots, automatically it's correct.
05:01Even Jimmy Carter.
05:02They had the Carter Commission after he got out of office.
05:05And he had a group of very distinguished people, Democrats and Republicans.
05:08And they passed.
05:09They recommended things take place.
05:11It was a long time ago.
05:12And they said about mail-in ballots, if there is mail-in ballots, there will definitely be corruption.
05:18Because, you know, they passed through too many hands.
05:21I mean, you go in to vote, and they want your card.
05:23Even me, I went into Palm Beach.
05:25You go in to vote, they want your card.
05:27You're this, you're that.
05:28They said, I'm sorry to do this, sir, but I have to look at your identification.
05:32I said, that's all right.
05:33I love that.
05:35But, you know, you're really not going to get away with much.
05:37It was very, very professional and very good in the way it's supposed to be.
05:41But these people don't want that.
05:43They have legislation in California where it's illegal to ask somebody for voter ID.
05:50If you ask somebody for voter ID, if you're an official, and you say, I'd like to see your voter ID, they can arrest you.
05:58Okay?
05:59They can arrest you.
06:00Because they want to cheat.
06:02And they get away with it.
06:03And the Republicans let them get away with it.
06:05And we won't do that if we have the filibuster.
06:08So I'm just going to, we're going to talk about that a little bit.
06:10And we're going to see if we can sway.
06:13Because I know we have a lot of, not a lot, I'd say half feel this way.
06:17Maybe a little bit less than half.
06:18And it's time to have a really good talk.
06:21If I thought that they weren't going to pass the filibuster, I wouldn't even bring it up.
06:26They're going to pass it within the first hour.
06:28If they take power, and it's more likely that they take power if we don't do it.
06:33Because we're not going to be passing any legislation.
06:35They're not going to approve anything.
06:36We're going to go three and a quarter years.
06:37There won't be one bill that we're going to pass.
06:40Because the easiest thing to pass is exactly right now what they won't pass.
06:44And they'll do that.
06:45And they'll wreak havoc.
06:47But let's assume they get in.
06:48They're doing it anyway.
06:49So it wouldn't matter.
06:51They're doing it anyway.
06:52And, you know, I have a case where I have great U.S. attorneys that can't be approved because of the blue slips.
06:57The blue slips, I think you should terminate blue slips, too.
07:00It's a mental termination because it's really a custom.
07:02But if you have a Democrat senator or two, two is bad, but it doesn't make any difference.
07:09If you have one senator who writes a negative letter on some great U.S. attorney, we had it in Manhattan, Southern District.
07:16Jay Clayton, one of the most respected lawyers in the whole country, by far one of the most respected.
07:21And he couldn't get approved.
07:25The courts approved him.
07:26The courts couldn't believe it.
07:27They did it, like, instantly.
07:29He went to the best schools, got the best marks, top of his class.
07:33Everything was perfect.
07:34I mean, he was, like, led the perfect life.
07:36Went to Sullivan and Cromwell.
07:37Almost immediately became the head of Sullivan and Cromwell, you know, the most prestigious law firm, I would say, in the country, just about.
07:47Whether it's Sullivan or two or three, I could name.
07:49But Sullivan, I would say, really, maybe number one.
07:52He was the head of Sullivan and Cromwell for, like, 20 years.
07:55He went to the SEC, was flawless.
07:57He did it for me.
07:58He was the SEC chairman.
08:01He was flawless.
08:01Then he went to Apollo, where he was the chairman of Apollo, and was flawless.
08:09Everything went good.
08:10The stock went through the roof and everything.
08:11I asked him to go to the Southern District, and he said, I'll do what you'd like to do, sir.
08:16He's a very high-quality person.
08:18But he couldn't get approval.
