00:00The skate park opening at Totnes means this. It's the whole community getting together.
00:10A long time coming, over a decade, and it's pretty amazing to see this place working,
00:17people just enjoying themselves, the whole community out.
00:20I'm not going to be my new local, I live in Payton, I'm going to come here all the time now.
00:24I just can't wait to be here every day.
00:27I found working with skateboarders that it's not only just about skateboarding, it's about
00:35mental health, it's about community, it's about being together, looking after each other,
00:41and that's something that's really lacking.
00:43Whilst we have lots of rugby, football, and rowing and so on, this is something that appeals
00:50to a different section of young people. So I think for us to have something of this cast
00:54in Totnes that not only serves our local people, but also local people from other towns is
00:59a real blessing. It's all part of keeping Totnes a vibrant and resilient town.
01:04I like the real fundamental thing about it is that we can actually make change.
01:12It's huge, it's such a privilege to have my son's memorial in concrete here at the park.
01:24It's just something that we can always remember him by and keep his memory alive and continue his legacy.
01:32It's just beautiful, man. It's a needed change for this area. Young people just don't have a space and now this here, the people of Totnes and the kids of Totnes have a community space where we can come, be dumb, be young, and it's safe.
01:49It's going to bring a lot more community back to Totnes, I think.
01:54I'm going to really enjoy seeing some of these young skateboarders come through and maybe one day we'll be watching them with the Olympics, you never know.
02:02Have a good night.
