00:00I mean I'm still speechless it still hasn't fully processed I think

00:03especially because the job's not done we've got another game coming up but I

00:07just am so grateful that it's with this group of boys they are so deserving a

00:12lot of them are seniors that have been on our team now since their freshman

00:15year and if anyone deserves it it's it's them. From last year winning only two

00:19games to this year being the county champs it was definitely a big shock to

00:23me I mean many of us many people and like the community and kind of in

00:26Ashton County didn't believe in us but the whole team put 100% into it and you

00:31know from the day one of the season we just went from there and it just kicked

00:35off like that. Being a two-year captain it was pretty cool seeing the support we

00:39had for our county championship because they know how much it means to us but

00:43how much it means the community bringing home an Ashton County championship so for

00:46also being my senior year is pretty cool seeing like everybody come out. Year after

00:50year they get stronger they get smarter and we have a group of leaders this year

00:55that really want to make a name for themselves it's their last year to do it

01:00and they did exactly that I mean every single person on this team respects the

01:05person next to them they want to show up for the person next to them and that's

01:08how you build culture that's how you bring success. It's gonna take all of us you

01:13know as you saw not just our team but our whole community as you saw last game you

01:18know we had almost triple the amount of people that Syosset had and you know it was

01:22really just special for our whole community to come together and I think

01:26it's gonna take that again you know once we're all together whether it's as a

01:29community or as a team with our chemistry that we've built especially through the

01:33offseason I think that's all it takes you know I know it's gonna be probably a

01:37daunting opponent Suffolk they've won I think the past three or four years I want

01:42to say I'm not sure exactly but listen I mean be ready for her to shock the world

01:47again you know I think we could come out on top again. I think we just need to play the

01:51way we've been playing I mean we've had a lot of chemistry we're playing with

01:54hard and when you play like that anything can happen. We're gonna stick to what we

01:58know it's clearly been working of course we're gonna do our homework we're gonna

02:02make sure that we're preparing our bodies we're preparing our minds continue to

02:06keep that composure which is something that I brought up right we haven't been

02:09here before in a long time and so this is new for these boys so that means we've

02:13got to keep our cool we've got to work hard for it and we can't just say that

02:17we're the Nassau County champions we're gonna take this one too. You got to earn

02:22it you got to earn everything in life and that's a conversation we have with

02:24them all the time so we're preparing them for every every aspect of this game. We

02:29talk about building a culture Herrick's is a place that's built its own

02:32culture because we refer to this whole community as Herrick's but on the map

02:35that's not what we're known for we're made up of a bunch of little towns and

02:38so I think that kind of set the tone for a place that I really would love to be. It's

02:43incredibly diverse the people here are so kind they're so educated they're so

02:49willing to do everything it takes and anything it takes to get their child to

02:53that next level and so to be able to support them in that really was a dream

02:57of mine and then that always transferred over into coaching as well. These

03:01parents support their kids and that's really what you want to see. I think if

03:04you would have asked other people if we would have made it this far they'd

03:08probably say no and so something that coach Purdy continues to say to the boys is

03:12let's shock the world and so we're just going to show up and try to shock the

03:16world.
