00:00Welcome to the Inner Circle, the game where trust is as important as knowledge.
00:05I know that you're bluffing.
00:07You don't.
00:07He's trying to frame me to be a liar, and I'm really not.
00:10The aim of the game, get the most money and the best brains into the final.
00:15To win, the players need to be strategic and outsmart the rest.
00:20Then they take their secret stash of cash and the person they trust the most to the final.
00:25What's made important? Money off the internship.
00:27Oof, where two players will face the ultimate decision.
00:30Split the prize money and walk away as equals.
00:33Hooray!
00:34Or attempt to take it all by shafting the other player and leaving them with nothing.
00:39You little shafters!
00:41But the question is, who would you trust?
00:47I'm Dennis, I'm from Norwich, I'm a law student, and I'm here to do a robbery.
00:53I'm Sarah, I'm from Hertfordshire,
00:55and I work for the local council as an education administrator.
00:59I would say I'm not a risk taker, but I am an opportunity taker.
01:03I'm Suraj, I'm from Croydon, and I'm a finance manager.
01:06And I've calculated, by the end of this, I'll be in profit and they'll be in loss.
01:10I'm Holly, I'm an administrator from Cheshire,
01:13and I'll be keeping my cards close to my chest.
01:16I'm Jonathan, management consultant, originally from Belfast, but currently living in London.
01:21I won't let anyone take me for a fool.
01:24I'm Wendy, a team leader from Royston, and I'm going to do whatever I need to do to take the money home.
01:29Welcome, everybody.
01:33You are about to face four rounds.
01:36After every round, one of you will be eliminated.
01:39However, if you win, you'll secure immunity for that round, meaning you'll be safe from elimination.
01:45Plus, you'll receive a game-changing power, and I mean game-changing.
01:49This will give you a big advantage that should get you one step closer,
01:54because remember, only two of you can make it through to the final.
01:58Anyone that is eliminated, though, will be back tomorrow to have another go, so it's not all bad.
02:03OK, let's welcome our players.
02:05Dennis, you're a law student.
02:07Have you put together a strong case to help yourself get into the final?
02:11Well, as lawyers, we prepare the best we can, so I hope so.
02:14Would you describe yourself as a risk-taker?
02:17I think so, yeah, but I'm not reckless, but I'm willing to take a risk for the story.
02:24Fantastic.
02:25Sarah, what do you do?
02:26I work for my local council in education administration.
02:29OK, so would you say that makes you naturally diplomatic and good at negotiating?
02:35Yeah, negotiating I'm probably better at because I'm a mum to an eight-year-old girl.
02:40That involves a lot of negotiation.
02:42Negotiation and bribery, normally.
02:44Lots of it.
02:44I know how that feels.
02:45OK, well, welcome.
02:47Saraj, you're an accountant, so you know what I'm going to say.
02:50Are you good at crunching numbers?
02:52Yeah, I'm always in profit.
02:53Are you?
02:54And have you calculated your chances of winning today?
02:58I have calculated my chances, and I reckon I'm going to be in profit, and everyone else
03:03is going to be in loss.
03:04Well, look at that.
03:05Watch out for him, I would say, everyone.
03:07Exactly.
03:08Holly, does your role in admin make you naturally organised, would you say?
03:14I would say so.
03:15It's definitely allowed me to think more independently in my work.
03:18And what do you get up to outside of all of that?
03:20So I do horse riding, and I play lacrosse.
03:23Oh, wow.
03:24So I'm very active.
03:25Oh, my goodness me.
03:26Remind me what lacrosse is.
03:27It's always in the inner blight.
03:28It's like hockey in the air.
03:29Yes.
03:29And it's a contact sport, so it's quite rough and tumble.
03:33I reckon, yeah.
03:35You're a toughie.
03:35You're up for a little bit of a rumble today.
03:37Absolutely.
03:38Brilliant.
03:39Well, listen, we'll catch up a little bit more later on.
03:43Let's talk money.
03:45Earlier on, the Inner Circle randomly assigned each player a secret stash of cash.
03:50One of them will have absolutely nothing,
03:52and one of them will be sitting pretty on £4,000.
03:56So for our players, Inner Circle, please reveal the secret stashes.
04:02And for you at home, you can now see everyone's secret stash amount, too,
04:09so you always know where the cash is.
04:23They don't tell me, so I'll just be trying to work it out alongside everyone else.
04:27Your mission is now very simple.
04:29You've got four rounds to get yourself and some big money into the final,
04:34so whoever bags the most points in this game will secure immunity
04:38and pocket the first power, which is £1,000, to add to your secret stash.
04:44It's time for round one.
04:47Moving in circles.
04:50I'll ask a question.
04:51All our players need to do is stand in the section with the correct answer to score one point.
04:56If they're brave enough to correctly go it alone, they'll score three points.
05:01I wonder if you are brave enough to go it alone or follow the crowd.
05:05We'll find out.
05:06After each question, you will have seven seconds to stand on the answer,
05:10so you need to be super quick because it flies past.
05:14Let's play.
05:14Your options are baby doll dress, skater dress, mermaid dress.
05:22Your question is, which of these dresses would typically be the longest?
05:27Seven seconds.
05:28You need to leg it.
05:29Saraj, I'm just going to say that was very leisurely.
05:39You might need to speed things up.
05:42In a circle, please reveal the correct answer.
05:45Yep, mermaid dress.
05:47One point each.
05:49Following the crowd paid off at that point.
05:50Well done, everyone.
05:51Your options are...
05:53The Masters, PGA Championship, the Open.
05:57And your question is, which of the major men's golf championships
06:01is the only one held in the UK?
06:05Time started.
06:13Once again, you have all gone for the same answer, which is the Open.
06:17Are they correct?
06:19Well done again.
06:20The Open.
06:21That's one point.
06:22OK, the inner circle's going to make things a little bit more tricky now.
06:26We're going to give you four possible answers.
06:29And they are...
06:29C, we, sim, and ya.
06:33Your question is, what is the word for yes in Portuguese?
06:48In a circle, please reveal the correct answer.
06:50Well done, everyone.
06:53One point.
06:54C is Spanish, we is French, and ya is German.
06:58OK.
06:59Your options are...
07:00The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Lord of the Rings.
07:08And your question is...
07:09The fairy realm of Prithian is a fictional setting in which book series?
07:14A fictional setting in which book series?
07:24OK.
07:25Once again, all gone for the same answer.
07:27Inner circle.
07:27Are they right?
07:30Yes, they are.
07:31OK.
07:32This is your last chance to win some points.
07:35Remember, there are three up for grabs if you correctly go it alone.
07:40Your answers are...
07:42J, K, L and M.
07:47Your question is, which of these letters does not appear in the name of any chemical element symbol on the periodic table?
07:54Which letter does not appear on the periodic table?
08:04OK.
08:05So, we've got Wendy and Dennis on L, and then we've got Siraj, Sarah, Jonathan and Holly on J.
08:12Inner circle.
08:13Who's right?
08:16J does not appear on the periodic table.
08:20That is one point.
08:21Point.
08:21And that was the last question, so please return to your podium.
08:28Well, funnily enough, we've got a tie break.
08:32So, Sarah and Siraj, you both have five points, and Holly and Jonathan, you also have five points.
08:38To decide who wins, we're going to play fastest finger on the buzzer.
08:42Here comes your question.
08:44As well as coffee liqueur, which alcohol is typically used to make a black Russian?
08:48Yes, Siraj.
08:49Vodka.
08:50Yes.
08:51Siraj, well done.
08:52That means you're the winner.
08:54And as the winner, you have secured your spot in the next round, and you've won the first power, which is £1,000 to add to your secret stash.
09:03Has that made much of a difference to you, Siraj?
09:06Yeah, it'll make a difference.
09:07It's another 1,000, so it's great.
09:08Yes, it is.
09:09OK.
09:10It's time now for your first vote.
09:11OK.
09:12One of you and your secret stash is about to be eliminated.
09:16One of you and your secret stash is about to be eliminated.
09:20Siraj, you have immunity, so you are safe for now.
09:23But the rest of you need to fight to stay in the game.
09:26Remember, you want the most money and the best brains in that final.
09:31That's your motivation.
09:32Who stays?
09:33Who goes?
09:34And that's down to you.
09:35The floor is open.
09:36Um, so I haven't got the 4,000, so who has got the 4,000?
09:42In the spirit of being honest, I have got £1,000.
09:45That's what came up.
09:46So I would break this into a couple of areas, right?
09:48Number one is how much money we've got.
09:50We're all lying, but I'm telling you I've got the 1,000.
09:53OK.
09:54You've obviously got 1,000 as well, Siraj, but that's perfect.
09:56There's general knowledge, so I think Dennis, Wendy, you obviously got that question wrong.
10:00Then there's the reactions we all had when we looked at our thing.
10:03I think Dennis, he pains me to say it, but it was a sort of a forced smile, I thought.
10:09So my position at the moment is because of the general knowledge
10:13and because of the way you reacted when you saw a number,
10:15you're who I'm thinking of voting for at the moment.
10:17I know I've got the last one wrong.
10:18Periodic tables aren't my best thing, but I was certainly one of the first
10:22to all the other questions, so I want to just let you know general knowledge is my thing,
10:27and I've got a high amount, so I'd love to play in the final with one of you.
10:30I do believe, Jonathan, I do believe you, and I also think you probably have the 500,
10:38because you said one of the higher amounts, which leaves two of the lower amounts between you three.
10:46And since none of you are saying you've got the 4,000…
10:52May I speak before you…
10:54Sorry?
10:55May I speak before you carry on?
10:56Yeah, sure.
10:58Sorry to interrupt you.
10:59I do think that when you first asked who had the 4,000 pound,
11:03Wendy was incredibly quick to sort of throw herself forward and give the…
11:09Yeah.
11:10Give the I've got it.
11:11I thought it was a little bit almost overconfident.
11:13I said I had a higher amount.
11:14She said the payer amount.
11:15I didn't say I've got the 4,000.
11:16I didn't say that.
11:17Yeah.
11:18Look, I know I made a mistake on the last question.
11:21Chemistry is not a strong suit.
11:23That's why I do law.
11:24But I think a big asset is, look, I was willing to take a risk and go away from the crowd.
11:30I also do have a very high amount, so I think I can be a big asset to anyone going forward in the game.
11:35My general knowledge…
11:36I mean, let's face it, we all nearly got all those questions right.
11:39We all have strong general knowledge.
11:41Well, in that last round, I wouldn't say chemistry is my strongest, but I knew that Jay was not on the periodic table.
11:48I have a very broad general knowledge.
11:51I think people are being very strategic right now, looking around.
11:56People aren't trying to give too much away.
11:59Dennis, unfortunately, may be at the start.
12:02I also caught a slightly forced smile, so I'm just looking around, listening.
12:09Well, it is now time for you to lock in your decisions.
12:13Okay, let's find out who's going to be cast out of the inner circle first.
12:39Dennis, I'm going to start with you.
12:41Who are you voting for?
12:43I'm voting for Jonathan.
12:44I can sense a bluff from a mile away.
12:47He's bluffing.
12:48He's not got anything.
12:49Sarah, who's got your vote?
12:51I'm voting for Dennis.
12:52Unfortunately, because he's very close to me, I didn't really see his initial reaction to the amount that came through.
12:57And although I'm not usually one to follow the crowd, the two opposites said that it was quite a telling story on his face, so I've gone with that for now.
13:06Siraj, who are you casting out of the inner circle?
13:09I vote for Zera.
13:11I felt that she had a lower amount.
13:13I think there was not much in it in the general knowledge.
13:16Holly, who are you casting out of the inner circle?
13:18I voted for Dennis.
13:20It's early days, got the last answer wrong and I did see the smile at the start.
13:25I thought it might be telling.
13:27Jonathan, who are you casting out?
13:29I vote for Dennis.
13:30Two reasons.
13:31Partly the smile that Holly also saw and partly at the end when the heat was on, you went for the, I've actually got a high amount, which made me think you were being desperately trying to scrabble for a reason to stay in.
13:41So that just confirmed my decision.
13:43Wendy, who's got your vote?
13:45I'm going to vote for Dennis.
13:47I also felt it was a bit of a lukewarm reaction when he got the amount he was going to win and also I think he's bluffing he went in with a high amount when I felt like Jonathan the heat was on.
13:57Well, that is four votes for you, Dennis.
14:01It's very early days, but luckily you can come back tomorrow.
14:05But for now, you have been cast out of the inner circle.
14:12There was a lot of finger pointing there and Dennis has fallen foul of the first casting out.
14:19I wonder if your instincts were right or I wonder if Dennis has got the big money and taken it with him.
14:25Only you at home know the truth.
14:27With one person down, it's time for round two.
14:30This time, as well as immunity, the power on offer is peak.
14:34This could really switch things up because you will be able to have a sneaky peak at someone else's secret stash.
14:41And given that your ultimate goal is to get as much money as possible into that final, this could give you a very big advantage.
14:48It's time for round two, sweet spot.
14:51Each player is going to face two clues that have the same answer.
14:56You just have to give me that answer.
14:58For example, if we have animal noise, an outer covering of a tree, the sweet spot would be bark.
15:06Everyone is going to face one question.
15:08If you get it right, you get one point.
15:10If you get it wrong, everybody else has just one chance to steal.
15:14Let's play.
15:15OK, Sarah.
15:16Here's your first set of clues.
15:17Dirty or untidy state.
15:18An area where military personnel eat and socialise.
15:19What's the sweet spot?
15:20Mess.
15:21Let's have a look.
15:22Well done.
15:23One point to you.
15:24Next set of clues for you, Siraj.
15:25Part of an ear of corn.
15:26Name for a male swan.
15:27Cop.
15:28Let's have a look.
15:29You've also got a point.
15:30Well done, you.
15:31Holly.
15:32Here come your clues.
15:33Long, narrow, flat-bottomed boats.
15:34What's the sweet spot?
15:35An area where military personnel eat and socialise.
15:37What's the sweet spot?
15:38Mess.
15:39Let's have a look.
15:40Well done.
15:41One point to you.
15:42Next set of clues for you, Siraj.
15:43Part of an ear of corn.
15:44Name for a male swan.
15:46Cop.
15:47Let's have a look.
15:48You've also got a point.
15:49Well done, you.
15:50Holly.
15:51Here come your clues.
15:52Long, narrow, flat-bottomed boat.
15:55A kick that often happens in the fourth down in American football.
16:00Sweep.
16:02Let's have a look.
16:04It's not.
16:05It's open to the floor.
16:07Yes, Sarah.
16:09Canoe?
16:10Let's find out.
16:11That is incorrect.
16:13It was punt.
16:17Next set of clues for you, Jonathan.
16:19A condiment and Beatles sergeant.
16:25Pepper.
16:26Let's have a look.
16:29Well done.
16:30Wendy.
16:31Next set of clues.
16:32Type of puzzling question and the surname of a pseudonym used by Lord Voldemort.
16:39Quiz.
16:40Let's have a look.
16:42Anyone want to steal?
16:44Yes, Sarah.
16:45Riddle.
16:46Let's have a look.
16:48Well done.
16:49You nicked that point.
16:51And that is the end of the round.
16:56Inner circle, please reveal the player with the most points.
17:01Sarah, you won that round.
17:02Well done.
17:03And as the winner, you have secured your place in the next round and you've won the second power,
17:08which is a lovely one.
17:10It's a sneaky peek at someone else's secret stash.
17:14That power could potentially change everything.
17:17Have you had a thought about whose stash you'd like to have a little peek at?
17:22Yes, I have had a thought.
17:23Yeah.
17:24I'm going to choose someone that there was a little bit of suspicion on in the last round and that person is Jonathan.
17:31Okay.
17:32Jonathan, there was suspicion over you.
17:34Inner circle.
17:35Please let Sarah have a peek at Jonathan's secret stash.
17:38I wish.
17:39Okay.
17:40Well, Sarah's not giving anything away there.
17:45And now we're heading for another casting out.
17:48It's time for the second vote.
17:54Who do you think should stay?
17:55Who needs to go?
17:57One wrong move could cost them the game.
18:00Another player and their secret stash is about to leave.
18:03Plus, I wonder if Sarah will let us know what she just saw.
18:08Over to you.
18:09The floor is open.
18:11Okay.
18:12Jonathan, would you like me to reveal what I've just seen on this screen?
18:16Thighs and pines.
18:19Okay.
18:20Well, let's just say I know who I can trust and who I can't now.
18:25Okie dokie.
18:27That was going to be my one question.
18:28I think you said you had a thousand.
18:30Yeah.
18:31Is it true or isn't it?
18:32I'm going to keep that information at the moment between myself and Jonathan.
18:35Thanks.
18:36Okay.
18:37All I'm going to say on this is you're a prerogative Sarah.
18:39I completely get why you're going to do that.
18:41We went round the houses last round and I was the only person who was open
18:45and said the actual amount I wasn't trying to hide behind.
18:48Oh no, or anything.
18:50I think Sarah would be quite willing to, you know, put the knife in my back
18:54if I'd been lying here.
18:55So, you know, I've said my piece.
18:58It's a thousand pounds for me.
18:59If you're going to vote me off for that, fair enough.
19:01You know, do you believe me when I say a thousand pounds?
19:04It's debatable because Sarah didn't seem...
19:06I know Sarah might be playing a game as well.
19:08So, I'm not sure if Sarah's keeping it close to her chest and you are
19:11telling the truth, if I'm honest.
19:13But it would be interesting to see how things play out.
19:15Do you believe me, Holly?
19:17Well, it's an individual game, not a team game at the end of the day.
19:20So, I think Sarah keeping that card close to her chest was a very smart move.
19:25And it's, yeah, it's very up for debate at the moment.
19:29So, I'm still thinking about things.
19:32Okay.
19:33I liked the last round.
19:36I don't know why, but I was convinced that you did have a thousand.
19:40And I feel more convinced that you do now after what Sarah said.
19:45It was more like you were telling the truth rather than you were lying.
19:49And I think in that round, Holly got a question wrong.
19:54The rest of us didn't.
19:55Well, Wendy also answered incorrectly.
19:57I just felt the question that I was given.
20:00I, in my head, answered your question correctly.
20:02Your one was tough.
20:03It was quite a tough question.
20:04It was.
20:05I'm Diss-O, obviously.
20:07I could all do it.
20:08All the others.
20:09It's Sodor, isn't it?
20:10Unfortunately, I didn't get my own.
20:12Who are we trusting here?
20:14I wonder.
20:15Anyway, it's time to lock in your decisions.
20:27The votes are in.
20:37Sarah, tell me, who are you casting out?
20:40I am voting out Holly this round.
20:42It's just a bit of an unknown entity to me.
20:45I've got my suspicions around Wendy.
20:48Obviously, I know Siraj has got a thousand.
20:51I know what Jonathan's got and I can use that information later on in the game.
20:55Siraj, who are you casting out?
20:57I voted for Wendy.
20:59I think it was between Holly and Wendy, but I think Holly had a tougher question.
21:05And no one else got a question wrong.
21:07Holly, who's got your vote?
21:09I voted for Jonathan.
21:11Just because there was a bit of suspicion back and forth between Sarah and Jonathan about the amount.
21:18That was my only reasoning why at the moment.
21:21Jonathan, who are you casting out?
21:23I vote for Holly.
21:24I vote for Holly.
21:25Partly because of the question wrong and partly when I asked did you believe me or not,
21:29I was less happy with your answer than Wendy's answer.
21:32Wendy, who's got your vote?
21:34I voted for Holly.
21:35I just think she's keeping her cards very close to her chest.
21:38She's given no indication of what amount she's got.
21:41And I think if she had a high amount, she could have really gone for it then,
21:45because we were doubting because she had not answered the question properly.
21:48Well, that is three votes for you.
21:51Holly, did you see it coming?
21:53Um, sort of.
21:54I knew getting that answer wrong was going to put me in a bad position.
21:58It was just, I felt quite a hard question compared to the others.
22:01But such is the game.
22:02Such is the game.
22:03But we'll have another go tomorrow.
22:04Thank you so much for playing.
22:06But for now you have been cast out of the inner circle.
22:12Holly has gone.
22:13Have they just said goodbye to somebody who would have split the stash?
22:17There's now just two more chances to win immunity
22:20and a power that could help you get through to that final.
22:24And this time the power is swap.
22:27So if you win this round, you can swap stashes with any player.
22:32So if you don't have much money in your secret stash, this could set you up very nicely.
22:37It's time to play round three.
22:39Vicious circle.
22:41This is about being super quick, taking control and firing those killer shots.
22:46If you get any two questions correct, you will get into that vicious circle.
22:50Once you're in, every correct answer after that will give you the power to get rid of another player.
22:56But if you get one wrong, you are frozen out of the next question.
23:01Need to answer smart, play sneaky and take down your competition.
23:05Last player standing wins, so get ready to fight for survival.
23:09Let's play.
23:13Here is your first question.
23:15The performing partner of magician Penn Jillette is known by what single name?
23:20Yes, Siraj.
23:21Tell her.
23:22You're on your way. Well done.
23:24Sandra Bullock was nominated for an Oscar for which 2013? Yes, Siraj.
23:29The Blind Side.
23:31I'm afraid that's wrong. You're frozen out.
23:33Sandra Bullock was nominated for an Oscar for which?
23:352013 sci-fi film in which she plays a stranded astronaut.
23:40And that, of course, was gravity.
23:42Next question.
23:43Which informal Australian term of address is also a type of machine used for excavation?
23:49Yes, Jonathan.
23:51Digger.
23:52Well done.
23:53You're a step closer.
23:55Gauntlet, collision and the edge are events in which...
23:58Yes, Jonathan.
23:59Thadiers.
24:00Well done.
24:01You're in the vicious circle, which means if you get the next one right, you can take anybody you like out.
24:06Of the five boroughs of New York City, which has the most letters in its name?
24:12Yes, Jonathan.
24:13Manhattan.
24:14I'm afraid not.
24:16You are frozen out.
24:17The correct answer is Staten Island.
24:20Running from your sternum to your shoulder blade, how is the clavicle more commonly known?
24:25Yes, Sarah.
24:26Collarbone.
24:27You're on your way, Sarah.
24:28The 2009 historical novel Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel is set during the reign of which Tudor monarch?
24:37Yes, Siraj.
24:38Henry VIII.
24:39Let's have a look.
24:40Yes, you're in the vicious circle, which means if you get your next question right, you can take out any player.
24:46Which chemical element shares its name with the Lone Ranger's horse?
24:51Yes, Jonathan.
24:52Tontonium?
24:53No.
24:54You're frozen out of the next round.
24:56I love that.
24:58It was silver.
24:59It was silver, wasn't it?
25:00It was silver.
25:01I think it should be that, though.
25:04Next question.
25:05Which singer won a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2025 for her country album, Cowboy Carter?
25:12Yes, Siraj.
25:13Beyonce.
25:14That is correct.
25:15Who would you like to take out of play?
25:18Jonathan, please.
25:19Okay, Jonathan, I'm afraid you are out.
25:22Next question.
25:24In 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first people to reach the summit of which mountain?
25:31Yes, Siraj.
25:32Mount Everest.
25:33Yes, you are correct.
25:35Who would you like to get rid of?
25:37Sarah, please.
25:39Sarah, goodbye to you.
25:41Okay.
25:42In order to stand to be a UK Member of Parliament, a person must be at least how many years old?
25:49Yes, Wendy.
25:5018.
25:51You're on your way, Wendy.
25:52Well done.
25:53Which ballet step where a dancer rapidly strikes the floor with one foot is also the name of an ice drink usually made with coffee?
26:03I think that's timed out. I did not know this myself.
26:06It's a frappe.
26:07Next question.
26:08In Albert Einstein's equation, E equals MC squared. Yes, Siraj.
26:14Two.
26:15I'm afraid not. You're frozen out.
26:17The finished question would have been E equals MC squared. What does the letter M stand for?
26:23The correct answer is mass.
26:26Wendy.
26:27This question's for you.
26:28The name of which 18th century military leader follows half and full in the names of two wrestling moves?
26:35Yes, Wendy.
26:36Napoleon.
26:37I'm afraid not.
26:38The correct answer was Nelson.
26:40You're frozen out of this question.
26:42Siraj, this question's for you.
26:43Model and actress Kaia Gerber is the daughter of which supermodel?
26:48Yes, Siraj.
26:49Cindy Crawford.
26:51Is correct.
26:52There's only one person you can take out.
26:54Sorry, Wendy.
26:55Sorry, Wendy.
26:56That's it.
26:57You're out.
26:58Which means, Siraj, you're the winner of that game.
27:02Well done, Siraj.
27:03You smashed that.
27:05It's the first time I've seen you really smile.
27:08Are you relieved?
27:09Yeah.
27:10Kind of, yeah.
27:11I like the battle rounds.
27:12I think I'm better at them.
27:13Okay.
27:14Fantastic.
27:15Well, you've won immunity and that crucial power.
27:17You can now make a swap.
27:19Or you can keep what you've got.
27:21What are you going to do?
27:22Oh, that's a difficult one.
27:24Because I've already got 1,000 and I don't know what anyone else has got.
27:30I'm going to play it safe and stick.
27:34You're going to play it safe and keep what you've got?
27:36Yes.
27:37Okay.
27:38I wonder if not swapping means that he's potentially got more than 1,000 pounds or whether he's playing it for real.
27:46We won't know.
27:48Here are the headlines.
27:50Siraj added 1,000 pounds to his stash in round one.
27:53Sarah then had a sneaky peek at Jonathan's stash and is keeping all that information to herself.
28:00And Siraj has decided to keep his stash and not swap.
28:04Everyone's playing their curls very close to their chest in this game.
28:07But it's all still to play for in the next round.
28:10I wonder who's going to survive.
28:13We're about to find out.
28:15It's time to make another big decision.
28:18No more messing about.
28:22Only two of you can get through to the final.
28:25It's time to get your story straight.
28:27Over to you.
28:28The floor is open.
28:30I'll say my piece.
28:32Break it down into the areas.
28:33General knowledge.
28:34I think I showed I can do a good job there.
28:36I think that was pretty good, apart with obviously the one small exception.
28:40Money.
28:41I said I've had the 1,000 from the start.
28:43Sarah, you know I've got the 1,000.
28:45No one else has piped up to prove me wrong.
28:47Because it would have been quite easy for someone to say if they had it.
28:49Look, he's not.
28:50So you can be confident that I've got that 1,000 pounds.
28:52Same as Siraj.
28:53And by the way, I'm thinking at the moment is I know,
28:55if we go all the way, we're going to have to go through that cash builder round.
28:58I think Wendy, you know, I think from a general knowledge perspective,
29:02I think that's the sort of thing.
29:03And, you know, Sarah, you also didn't get as many questions right.
29:06But I know you know what I've got.
29:08So you know that you can trust me.
29:09You know I'm not lying.
29:10So that's something you're at the moment, Wendy.
29:12So that's my sort of going in position.
29:14Well, I know certainly maybe general knowledge wasn't spot on.
29:19But I know what I've got.
29:20I've said from the beginning I've got a higher amount, which I have.
29:23So, yeah, general knowledge, I have got quite a few questions right.
29:27Maybe not so many as other people.
29:29But you definitely want my money when you go into that final.
29:32Because it's a big pot of money to share with.
29:35I'm still unsure as to what Wendy has got.
29:39I do know what Jonathan has.
29:42Whether he's lying to the rest of you or not.
29:45Again, I'll keep that between us.
29:47Because I think that could be a nice little alliance that he trusts me to not let on.
29:53That was intriguing.
29:54I'm, like, thinking now that Jonathan could have more than 1,000.
30:00I think he's got 1,000 as a minimum.
30:03He could have more.
30:04I don't know none the ways or two actually who has got the 4,000.
30:10But I don't think Wendy has got the 4,000.
30:14OK.
30:15Please, will you lock in your decisions?
30:33Sarah, who are you casting out?
30:35I'm casting out Jonathan.
30:37I know how much money he's got in his pot.
30:40I know that he has got 1,000 pounds, as I'm saying all along.
30:43Which makes me think, and I'm going to be honest here,
30:46I don't have the 4,000 pounds.
30:48Makes me think that it could lie with one of you two.
30:50I know it's not with Jonathan.
30:51Siraj, who are you casting out?
30:53I voted for Wendy.
30:55I don't think she's got the 4,000.
30:57And I believe Jonathan has got the 1,000.
30:59Jonathan, who's got your vote?
31:01I voted for Wendy.
31:02Partly in the general knowledge thing
31:04and partly because I thought she was most likely to get all her votes.
31:07Wendy, who are you casting out?
31:09I voted out Jonathan.
31:11I thought your general knowledge is good.
31:13I just felt your amount wasn't as much.
31:16OK, so Jonathan and Wendy, you're tied on two votes each,
31:20which means Siraj, it is up to you to decide between those two.
31:25What are you going to do?
31:27Well, I haven't got the 4,000.
31:30Um, Sarah said she hasn't got the 4,000.
31:33And Jonathan said he's got the 1,000.
31:36So that makes me think that either we voted out someone
31:39who already had the 4,000 or Wendy's got the 4,000.
31:42Now, do I take the risk?
31:44Yeah, I do.
31:45I'm going to vote out Jonathan.
31:48Jonathan, thank you so much for playing.
31:50You've got another chance tomorrow, but for now,
31:52you have been cast out of the inner circle.
31:58We have our final three players.
32:00Congratulations, all of you on making it this far.
32:03However, only two of them can make it through to the final
32:06and begin with a chance of walking away with their combined stash.
32:10I am absolutely clueless as to how much money is left in the game
32:14and who's got it.
32:15The winner of this last round wins that final power
32:19and will control who joins them in the final.
32:23Time for the last round.
32:25Circle of clues.
32:26For each question, I'll read out a series of three clues.
32:30The quicker you buzz in with the correct link,
32:32the more points you will win.
32:34So, as soon as you think you know, just buzz in.
32:36But remember, if you get it wrong,
32:38you'll be frozen out for the rest of that question.
32:41It's time to get your brains into gear.
32:43Let's play.
32:47Question one.
32:48Can you name the radio station linked by these three clues?
32:52And your first clue is...
32:53Launched the day the BBC Light programme closed.
33:01OK.
33:02Next clue for two points.
33:03For many years, Terry Wogan hosted
33:05The Breakfast Show on this station.
33:08Yes, Wendy.
33:10Radio one.
33:12I'm afraid that is incorrect.
33:14You're frozen out.
33:16Restart the clock.
33:18Yes, Siraj.
33:19Radio two.
33:21Is correct.
33:22Two points for you.
33:24I miss Terry Wogan.
33:26Question number two.
33:27Can you name the city linked by these three clues?
33:30It means black pool in the country's native language.
33:38OK, for two points.
33:39It is home to the parliament called the Dáil.
33:49For one point.
33:50The world-famous Guinness brewery stands on the banks of the River Liffey.
33:53Yes, Siraj.
33:55Dublin.
33:56It is.
33:57Fantastic.
33:58One point for you.
33:59OK, question three.
34:00Can you name the historical person linked by these three clues?
34:03Your first clue is...
34:04He first appeared on the Bank of England's £50 notes in 2021.
34:13For two points.
34:14He was a leading figure in cracking the Enigma code during World War II.
34:19Yes, Sarah.
34:21Alan Turing.
34:23Yes.
34:24You looked so worried when you were answering that.
34:26I completely thought it was wrong.
34:27Have confidence, Sarah.
34:29Well done. That's two points.
34:30Last question.
34:32Can you name the video game character linked by these three clues?
34:37Your first is...
34:38This Sega character has competed with Mario at the Olympics in a series of video games.
34:43Yes, Siraj.
34:44Sonic the Hedgehog.
34:45Three points to you.
34:47And that is the end of the round.
34:53Inner Circle, please reveal the player with the most points.
34:59Siraj.
35:00You're the winner.
35:01Congratulations.
35:02Feeling good?
35:03Yes.
35:04OK, great.
35:05Well, you have now won the power to control the vote.
35:11Remember, you need someone you can trust.
35:13But you also need somebody that can help you increase that stash in the cash builder at the end.
35:19Yeah.
35:20So, Sarah and Wendy, it's time to convince Siraj why you should be taken through to the final.
35:26Let's start with you, Wendy.
35:28I've said from the beginning I've got a high amount of cash that you would definitely want to be playing with me in the final.
35:33OK?
35:34General knowledge has not been maybe as good as other players, but you definitely want my cash in that final.
35:39OK, thank you, Sarah.
35:41I let on in the last round when I was voting off Jonathan that I do not have a high amount.
35:46I do, however, think that I've got better general knowledge than Wendy and can help build the pot up higher.
35:52But it's your decision.
35:55Siraj, who would you like to take through to the final?
35:58I'm going to take a bit of a risk and take Wendy through to the final.
36:03Well, Sarah, you've done ever so well. You've got very, very close.
36:06I feel like you know what you're doing now in this inner circle.
36:09I'm looking forward to coming back tomorrow and trying again with a little bit more of an insight.
36:13Absolutely. So we look forward to seeing you, but for now you have been cast out of the inner circle.
36:24Our final two. It's time for the cash builder.
36:28This is the last chance for Siraj and Wendy to work together to add some money to their combined secret stash.
36:34Remember, I'm still not absolutely certain what money is left in the game.
36:40But here's a quick reminder of your money amounts for everyone at home.
36:44You're now playing together to add to your combined stash.
36:48I'm going to give you £100 for each correct answer and you've got 60 seconds to get through as many as you can.
36:54But my advice would be to say pass if you don't know because I cannot move on to the other person until I get a right answer.
37:01Let's play.
37:06Good luck.
37:07Siraj.
37:08Breeds of which big cat include Bengal and Siberia?
37:10Tiger.
37:11Correct.
37:12Since signing in 2014, footballer Millie Bright has played for which women's Super League club?
37:18Arsenal.
37:19Incorrect.
37:21Pass.
37:22Chelsea.
37:23Which object of the solar system is pictured at the centre of the flag of Argentina?
37:29Pass.
37:30The sun.
37:31Which vegetable is cooked and crushed to make the dish baba ganoush?
37:36Courgette.
37:37No.
37:38Pass.
37:39Aubergine.
37:40Which Belgian comic book character is an investigative reporter usually accompanied by his faithful dog Snowy?
37:47Pass.
37:48Tintin.
37:49During the Wars of the Roses, Henry Tudor defeated King Richard III at the Battle of what?
37:57Sorry, pass.
37:58Bosworth Field.
37:59Thursday is named after which Norse god played in multiple films by Chris Hemsworth?
38:04Oh dear.
38:05Thursday.
38:06Thursday.
38:07Thursday.
38:08Pass.
38:09Pass.
38:10Ooh.
38:11It was Thor.
38:12You answered one question correctly meaning you've added £100 onto your combined cash dash.
38:23Suraj and Wendy had the chance to work together but now the inner circle has one final test for them both.
38:30It's time to play Split or Shaft.
38:33So everything has led to this moment.
38:38Remember that you are playing for your combined cash total.
38:42I'm still not sure what you've both got hidden away.
38:44Only the viewers at home know what you are truly worth.
38:48We now have three possible outcomes.
38:51You can win together and half the cash but that's only if you both decide to split.
38:56You can lose together and go home with nothing if you both choose to Shaft or if we see a split and a Shaft, the Shafter wins it all.
39:05Suraj and Wendy, it's now time for you both to have a little chat to see how you want to play this.
39:10I didn't have a big amount and you know I had a thousand so I don't know what you've got.
39:16It's not a massive amount and I'm going to split because it's not really a big amount.
39:21It's not going to change anyone's life.
39:22It's better to go home with some money.
39:24So you're saying you're not going to split?
39:26No, I said I'm going to split.
39:27You're going to get absolutely up to me.
39:29I've come, you know, I'd prefer to go away with something than nothing.
39:32Exactly.
39:33Yeah.
39:34And obviously I want to take my children on a holiday and that's going to go towards it.
39:39It's time to lock in your decisions.
39:46Both happy locked in?
39:57Yes.
39:58Okay.
39:59Suraj, can you please tell me now how much was in your secret stash at the very start of the game?
40:05A massive amount of zero.
40:07Oh, well played.
40:10Oh my gosh.
40:11Okay.
40:12Then, of course, you won the thousand.
40:14Yeah.
40:15Okay.
40:16Well, well done there.
40:17Wendy, what did you start with?
40:19£100.
40:20Oh!
40:21You've both played a blinder.
40:24Okay.
40:25So, Suraj, you thought Wendy had the big one?
40:29I didn't know who had the big one and I knew it wasn't Jonathan and I knew it wasn't Sarah.
40:34So, I just took the risk because I thought if they ain't got it, they ain't got it.
40:39So, Wendy may have it.
40:41I've just been told that Dennis, you chucked him out in the first round.
40:46He had the £4,000.
40:47I did it both for him because I did think he had it.
40:50Oh, wow.
40:51Added to the £100 that you bought through from the cash builder, that means that you're playing for a combined total of £1,200.
40:59What treats are you going to spend your half of the money on, should you both split?
41:04Probably go to somewhere nice to eat, somewhere local.
41:10Yeah.
41:11Treat the kids.
41:12Have a nice dinner out.
41:13Yeah.
41:14How about you, Wendy?
41:15Yeah, I've got a son and a daughter, so I'd love to take them away somewhere nice if I did win some money.
41:19Okay.
41:20What are their names?
41:21Jade and Jensen.
41:22And how old are they?
41:23Jade is 24 and Jensen's 19.
41:25Ah, I've got a 19 hold as well.
41:27Yeah.
41:28He's lovely.
41:29It's time to reveal if you've decided to split or shaft in a circle.
41:33Please, will you reveal today's decision?
41:36Oh, you both shafted! Oh my gosh! The pair of you!
41:59You had no money, you had 100 quid, and then you both shafted each other.

42:06Yeah, I just thought, you know, come this far, might as well just go for it.
42:09Yeah?

42:11Um, no, I wasn't sure, but I felt like I did all the work, so...
42:14Oh my...
42:16So I thought maybe, you know, I deserved it more.
42:20Oh, okay.
42:21Fair enough.
42:22Well, who would you trust?
42:24And how would you play the game?
42:26We'll see you next time here on The Inner Circle.
42:50So I'm Henry Thuss
