00:00:00Hey everybody, here we go. Welcome to episode 21 of Tough Bumps. My name is Matt Connerton
00:00:05and of course joining me all the way from the great state of Iowa, my partner in crime
00:00:09in this venture, Eric Pilcher. Hello, Eric.
00:00:12Hello, Matt. Before we get into it, I need to issue an apology.
00:00:17Okay.
00:00:18To our good friend, Charles Richardson.
00:00:22Okay.
00:00:22I was supposed to join him on his live stream last night.
00:00:27Yeah.
00:00:27Um, for those that listened to Matt Connerton unleashed, I had an embarrassing episode.
00:00:34My voice cracked very badly.
00:00:37Um, I sounded like a prepubescent teen more than normal.
00:00:44And my voice did not get better.
00:00:48Uh, it turned into a cough and a runny nose.
00:00:51Um, and I realized that it was probably seasonal allergies.
00:00:58Yeah.
00:00:59Um, so I took an allergy pill at one o'clock and did not wake up until around 8 PM.
00:01:06Oh, wow.
00:01:07So I missed going on Charles's live stream.
00:01:10I was awake, but not awake.
00:01:14And if anyone is taking a allergy pill, you know exactly what I'm saying.
00:01:21Oh, I know.
00:01:22I know what you mean.
00:01:22I just take a, cause I have allergies too.
00:01:24I just take an over the counter decongestant, but I have to be very careful to make sure it's
00:01:28non drowsy because one time I did make a mistake and I took the kind that makes you drowsy
00:01:32and it knocked me on my ass and I learned a valuable lesson from that.
00:01:38Well, I take Zyrtec and Zyrtec for some reason, it does make me drowsy.
00:01:48Yeah.
00:01:50Yeah.
00:01:51Um, and so, I mean, just because of everything else I take right now, uh, with diabetes and,
00:02:00you know, other stuff, I make sure that it doesn't counteract.
00:02:05And so, uh, yeah, I feel really bad to Charles.
00:02:09I haven't had a chance to send him an apology message, but I figured we were doing this.
00:02:14I would apologize on here.
00:02:17Hope he, hope he sees it.
00:02:20Um, I, I'm sorry, Charles.
00:02:23I honored for the invitation and I really wanted to be on there.
00:02:28Yeah, no, I'm sure he understands.
00:02:29He had invited, uh, he had invited me as well, as you know, and I, I told him, uh, uh, I,
00:02:35I said, I'll, I'll try if I can, but I was skeptical.
00:02:37I was going to be able to, because Jenny and I hadn't even watched SmackDown yet.
00:02:41So we were behind.
00:02:42So we were, we were probably about 30 minutes behind everybody else when, um, when Saturday
00:02:47night's main event was on.
00:02:49So just wait.
00:02:50Um, I was, yeah, I, I watched it right after, um, I, I like literally picked up my phone
00:03:00and I turned it downward.
00:03:02So the screen was down when I woke up and started watching it from the beginning.
00:03:07Yeah.
00:03:08Um, because I didn't want any spoilers.
00:03:11Right, right.
00:03:12Well, we'll, uh, in a moment we can, we can talk a little bit about that, uh, in the undercard.
00:03:18Um, might be a shorter show than usual tonight.
00:03:20Cause you know, you and I were talking off air, of course, you're still feeling the effects
00:03:23of your, uh, your allergies and don't want your voice.
00:03:26My voice.
00:03:27My, uh, yeah, we, we have a pretty big fan who might have a heyday with that.
00:03:33That's true.
00:03:34That's true.
00:03:35Well, that reminds me.
00:03:36So we actually have a new sponsorship opportunity and I know this, well, not yet.
00:03:42We got to, we, I'm hoping to work something out, but the, um, the, the Stephanie VPN opportunity
00:03:49didn't quite work out the way that I'd, I'd hoped.
00:03:52Um, probably didn't shut down.
00:03:55The government shut down, Matt.
00:03:56It was that GOV site.
00:03:58That's, that's true.
00:03:59That's true.
00:04:00Uh, but we do have all the Democrats fall.
00:04:03Oh, sure.
00:04:04Sure.
00:04:04Um, but we do have another, uh, uh, opportunity.
00:04:08And by the way, I apologize to our audio listeners.
00:04:11If you're listening to the podcast, this part will require a little bit of theater of the
00:04:15mind, but I am excited to share this.
00:04:17Our, our video, uh, viewers will, uh, understand when they see this, why I'm so excited about
00:04:23this opportunity.
00:04:24So there's, um, there's this new app it's called imposter AI and what it does, and this
00:04:31is wild, but this is so cool.
00:04:32So say you have an old picture or a video or something of someone who is clearly in your
00:04:40estimation, pretending to be someone they're not.
00:04:43And you want to see, but it's from the past.
00:04:46Like maybe it's from a few decades ago, even, but you want to see, you want to take that picture
00:04:51and you want to see what that person actually looks like in real life today.
00:04:57So the AI, the AI will actually take this picture from decades ago of a person who, who was
00:05:07clearly not who they said they were, but an imposter.
00:05:11And the AI then figures out what this imposter, what their true identity is, but not what their
00:05:17true identity was back then.
00:05:18But what that person looks like today.
00:05:21And I guess the idea behind the technology, what's that?
00:05:26It's like advanced aging.
00:05:27You remember what America's most wanted when they'd have more unsolved mysteries, they would
00:05:33have a missing person.
00:05:34And they're like, we're enhanced aging to show what this person would look like today.
00:05:41Right.
00:05:42Right.
00:05:42But, okay.
00:05:44But this one is specifically for imposters, for people trying to get one over on everybody.
00:05:49It's amazing.
00:05:50The idea being that if you want to then in the present day, go and confront that person
00:05:54for, for trying to, for, for trying to be somebody else in the past, you can do it.
00:05:59It's, it's remarkable.
00:06:01Yeah, exactly like that.
00:06:03So, okay.
00:06:05So this is what sold me on the app and why I'm so excited about it.
00:06:09So I took this picture, right?
00:06:12Now this is, of course, for anyone who doesn't know, this is a Sammy Hagar impersonator from
00:06:171986 at a WWF event.
00:06:20This guy was claiming to be Sammy Hagar.
00:06:24Now, what I did was using the imposter AI, I actually use this to confirm something.
00:06:30I now have irrefutable proof of who we believed.
00:06:34Is his name Jack?
00:06:37Is his name what?
00:06:39Josh.
00:06:41Josh.
00:06:42No, no.
00:06:43But I'll show you.
00:06:44Oh.
00:06:44I took this picture here.
00:06:47This is, this is going to be shocking.
00:06:48I took this picture here.
00:06:49We now have proof and I fed it into the app and this is what came back.
00:06:56See, see that picture right there.
00:06:57You know who that is.
00:06:59Oh, I know exactly who that is.
00:07:02Yep.
00:07:03Yep.
00:07:03So that's what the AI came up with, with that picture.
00:07:09It's remarkable, isn't it?
00:07:10It's uncanny.
00:07:12So anyway, so that sold me on the app.
00:07:14So, and they, they are running a promotion now that they haven't committed to a full contract
00:07:20yet, but as a trial, you can get the app.
00:07:24You can get this app for, for free for 30 days.
00:07:28If you go to imposter.ai and sign up.
00:07:33And, uh, the only thing is though, to get the, to get the app for free.
00:07:36So we get credit for this.
00:07:37Uh, you do have to use the, uh, you do have to use the promo code and the promo code is,
00:07:42uh, fuck ESPN.
00:07:47Ooh, you know, I'm bored with that promo code.
00:07:54Oh, I'm bored with that promo code.
00:07:59Oh, shit.
00:08:01Uh, well, I mean, I'm glad you liked the promo code, but I just got a text message.
00:08:05I, I made a mistake.
00:08:06It's not the promo code is Jose Martinez.
00:08:09I screwed up.
00:08:10It's not fucking ESPN.
00:08:11I'm sorry.
00:08:13Oh, well, I just switched from YouTube TV to direct TV stream.
00:08:21Really?
00:08:21Why?
00:08:22Well, because YouTube TV lost all the ESPN networks.
00:08:28Oh.
00:08:30So yesterday was college, sorry, college football.
00:08:36And you know, you can't, I'm a sports guy.
00:08:40I can't miss college football.
00:08:42Right.
00:08:43Right.
00:08:43I can see how that would be problematic.
00:08:46So I had to make the switch.
00:08:49No, no.
00:08:50I will say I'm much happier with direct TV stream.
00:08:54It's a bit more pricier, but it's a great product.
00:08:58Good.
00:08:58Good.
00:08:59All right.
00:09:00Well, very good.
00:09:00Very good.
00:09:01But, uh, yeah.
00:09:02So hopefully, uh, imposter.ai go there and, uh, promo code Jose Martinez, get a free month.
00:09:07It's exciting.
00:09:09Martinez.
00:09:10You know, it's interesting.
00:09:11You bring up Jose Martinez.
00:09:14Really?
00:09:15It's very interesting because, you know, there are very, very, very, very few things that,
00:09:26that caused me to want to speak out.
00:09:30But, you know, you, people can say whatever they want about me.
00:09:38Fine.
00:09:38I don't care.
00:09:39Make fun of my voice.
00:09:41Cool.
00:09:42Call me a monkey boy.
00:09:45Whatever.
00:09:46Uh-huh.
00:09:46Um, but when you come at my co-host, and you are a co-host, Matt, um, we are partners in
00:10:04this endeavor.
00:10:05No one is riding on anyone's coattails in this.
00:10:10Right, right.
00:10:10Um, and you attack our credibility and our overall ability.
00:10:19Now I have a problem.
00:10:22Jose, let me just say this.
00:10:26This is a pro wrestling podcast.
00:10:29You want to threaten us.
00:10:31You want to threaten us saying you're coming after us.
00:10:36You want some, come get some.
00:10:39Oh, buddy, you piece of us.
00:10:44Cool.
00:10:45Come at us, Jose.
00:10:47Do your worst.
00:10:49Buddy, we have done 20 episodes in my four years of fighting with you, Jose.
00:10:58You haven't done 20 episodes of your shit bag, wretchedly horrible show.
00:11:07You haven't, you have no talent or ability.
00:11:16You want to sit here and say, I have no credentials.
00:11:20Listen here, you New York sewer rat.
00:11:23I have interviewed senators, representatives, governors, USC professional athletes, NFL hall of famers.
00:11:38You cannot touch me in this.
00:11:44I have achieved more in the six months of doing this podcast.
00:11:50Rocky, my dog sitting behind me, achieved more licking his fixed penis than you achieve in a day.
00:12:02Joe, you are going after the wrong people.
00:12:08Stick to going after the onions.
00:12:11Stick to going after whatever boogeyman you got to go after to blame your lack of talent and ability on.
00:12:20And another thing, you want to sit here and say you deserve a radio show?
00:12:29Motherfucker, no one deserves anything in this world.
00:12:34Not a single person.
00:12:37And especially in this business of journalism and broadcast journalism.
00:12:42You work, you scratch, you claw for everything you have.
00:12:48Don't you ever, and I mean ever, in your life, come at me or my co-host again.
00:12:57Don't.
00:12:57You do not want any of this.
00:13:01You are a herpy on the penis of journalism.
00:13:07That is what you are.
00:13:09That is all you will ever be.
00:13:10That is all you are ever going to be.
00:13:13This is the last time I will speak to you directly on this.
00:13:19You waste a fucking space.
00:13:24Now, in fairness.
00:13:25Oh, sorry.
00:13:27I forgot I muted my mic.
00:13:28In fairness, Joe did, you know, when you talk about interviewing people, Joe did interview the keyboard player for Vanilla Fudge.
00:13:38So we should keep that in mind.
00:13:40Whoop-dee-doo.
00:13:44Whoop-dee-doo.
00:13:47I don't give a shit.
00:13:51I would.
00:13:53I would.
00:13:56Give him a pass on just about anything.
00:14:00But to sit here and say the things he said about you, Jenny, me, Joe, and to be so everyone else, I have given Jose Martinez an opportunity to speak to me in a civilized manner.
00:14:23I called into his show.
00:14:25And I'm begging to speak on his show.
00:14:31He blocks everyone.
00:14:34Myself, you, Billy Painter.
00:14:37Everyone is calling.
00:14:39He blocks us.
00:14:40Yes.
00:14:41And he calls us cowards.
00:14:45Buddy, we're all standing right here.
00:14:49We're all doing what we enjoy doing.
00:14:52Matt and I do not get paid for this.
00:14:55We do this because we love to do it.
00:14:57And we enjoy, I think anyway, I'm not, I can't speak for Matt.
00:15:03We enjoy talking to each other.
00:15:05Yes.
00:15:07And you, that is something that you can't fathom.
00:15:12Because from the sense of it, you have very minimal people that actually enjoy speaking with you.
00:15:17And based on your videos, I can see why.
00:15:22Yeah.
00:15:22I don't think he has any actual friends.
00:15:24I've always gotten the impression he doesn't have any friends.
00:15:27He has Big Kev.
00:15:30I never even hear him mention Big Kev anymore.
00:15:32He talks about this guy, Mr. D, who I don't think he's ever met in person.
00:15:36And I don't think he has any actual friends.
00:15:39What?
00:15:39His tech guy.
00:15:41His tech guy.
00:15:42Who's a black.
00:15:44As he puts it.
00:15:46Yes.
00:15:46Yes.
00:15:46As he puts it.
00:15:48I would never say that.
00:15:50No.
00:15:51On my own accord.
00:15:53But that's the way he words it.
00:15:57Thank you, Matt, for clarifying that.
00:15:59Because that himself is very racist.
00:16:03Mm-hmm.
00:16:04Yes.
00:16:05Yeah.
00:16:06No.
00:16:07So, you know, it just got kind of stuck in my craw a little bit.
00:16:13Yeah.
00:16:13Like, you know,
00:16:15To sit here and threaten, constantly threaten, at some point, you just gotta say, okay, gloves
00:16:27are off.
00:16:28Yeah.
00:16:29This is ridiculous.
00:16:30By the way, do you know if the guy from Vanilla Fudge is still alive?
00:16:35I'd like to interview him.
00:16:37Just to piss off.
00:16:39Sure, we could meet him at a gig at Six Flags.
00:16:42Maybe, yeah.
00:16:43That'd be exciting.
00:16:44I mean, or at a local karaoke bar.
00:16:48You have one of those in Manchester, don't you?
00:16:50Oh, we sure do.
00:16:52We sure do.
00:16:54Yeah, I'm sure you could find him at one, because he's probably...
00:17:00Because he's probably there.
00:17:05Yes.
00:17:06Yes.
00:17:07Wonderful.
00:17:08All right.
00:17:08Well, anything else to...
00:17:09Anything to add on that subject?
00:17:11Or should we talk more about last night?
00:17:14We should talk about good things, because I actually had a pretty good day today, so...
00:17:19Good.
00:17:20I'm glad.
00:17:20I'm glad.
00:17:21Yeah.
00:17:22Saturday night's main event, of course, was last night, and I thought it was very good.
00:17:27I enjoyed the show.
00:17:29You know, there's people online who will criticize it no matter what, but I thought it was good.
00:17:35I think it's...
00:17:37I thought it was a good show, and I think everything made sense, and in a pro wrestling show, that's what we can hope for.
00:17:50Logical storytelling, like we were talking about on Unleafed.
00:17:52Yeah, it's important.
00:17:54Yeah.
00:17:54You know, now, I did send a photo in our group chat that was taken last night that might have been a shot at Tony Khan.
00:18:07Um, if you could pull that up.
00:18:11I just thought of that.
00:18:14Yeah, let me get it.
00:18:16But, yeah, go ahead and talk about it while I find it.
00:18:20It's a photo of Jade Cargill, CM Punk, Ricky Saints, formerly known as Ricky Starks, and Cody Rhodes.
00:18:32Now, they're all champions now.
00:18:36Spoiler alert, after I spoiled it.
00:18:41Um, they're all champions in WWE now.
00:18:46Yes.
00:18:47But, what's interesting about this is, they all were let go, or contracts not renewed, in AEW.
00:19:04Mm-hmm.
00:19:04I want to know your opinion, Matt.
00:19:10You always ask me mine first, and I want to shift to you.
00:19:14What are your thoughts on this?
00:19:16Because I have thoughts.
00:19:18Well, I do think it's definitely a direct shot at AEW, and it reminds me of when, what was it, on NXT?
00:19:25Like, Cody was visiting NXT or something, and there was this backstage segment where it was Cody, I think Ricky, Ricky Saints, I keep wanting to say Starks, Ricky Saints, and a couple of other people.
00:19:38I forget who else.
00:19:39And Cody said something to me, something to them, like, I think we're all in a good place now or something, which was pretty, pretty obvious and overt.
00:19:47I don't remember who else was there.
00:19:48Do you know the moment that I'm referring to?
00:19:50A good moment, but this, I think, is a bigger shot.
00:19:56Yeah.
00:19:57This is a direct shot at Tony Khan.
00:20:05Yeah.
00:20:05And AEW.
00:20:07Because you have four individuals, three of which you basically let walk.
00:20:14Mm-hmm.
00:20:14And one you fired under extenuating circumstances.
00:20:27Yeah.
00:20:28And they are all the top champions for their show.
00:20:34So, look, if I'm Tony Khan, I'm looking at this, and he won't do this, because I don't think he's a real self-reflective individual.
00:20:53But I think he's got to, he should look at this and be like, what am I doing wrong?
00:21:02Mm-hmm.
00:21:04Let's remove CM Punk from the equation.
00:21:09You let Jade Cargill go, and your women's division is god-awful.
00:21:17You let Mercedes Monet do whatever the F she wants.
00:21:23Right.
00:21:24Ricky Starks could probably be the TNT champion.
00:21:33You never did anything with him.
00:21:36And Cody, one of the godfathers of your company, you allegedly, I'm saying allegedly, because we don't even know what was done, but Cody said they were disrespectful during contract negotiations.
00:21:54Yeah.
00:21:55And to be fair to Cody, Cody gave a lot to AEW.
00:22:00Yes, he did.
00:22:01Absolutely.
00:22:04Cody put a lot of guys over, and a lot of guys wouldn't be in the spots they're in in AEW if it wasn't for Cody.
00:22:12Right.
00:22:13And Cody brought in a lot of talent for AEW, i.e. Ricky Starks, QT Marshall, who they wanted to re-sign and are doing absolutely nothing with.
00:22:27Chris Statlander on down the line.
00:22:34Yeah.
00:22:36So, yeah.
00:22:38I think Tony Khan really needs to look at this picture and have some self-reflection on mistakes he's made.
00:22:49Yep, yep.
00:22:50Agreed.
00:22:51I agree.
00:22:52Absolutely.
00:22:54It was exciting to see CM Punk win the belt.
00:22:57I, you know, I thought, that's my one gripe, and I, again, I just thought of this gripe.
00:23:08It was very anticlimactic.
00:23:11You thought so?
00:23:12And, yeah, I was expecting a big moment to happen.
00:23:18Oh, after the match or during the match?
00:23:20No, during the match.
00:23:22I was expecting a turn or something, and we didn't get it.
00:23:28But I will say this.
00:23:31Jey Uso should never be allowed to do a GTS again, and CM Punk should never do a spear again.
00:23:41Right.
00:23:43Yeah.
00:23:43Because both looked horrendous.
00:23:47Yeah, yeah.
00:23:48I'm kind of glad, though.
00:23:49They did not look good.
00:23:50I thought they might do a turn with Jey, but I'm kind of glad that they didn't, because
00:23:54I do think they're going to eventually.
00:23:56I think it's inevitable.
00:23:56But I think they can kind of draw that out a little bit, and an interesting story can
00:24:00be told.
00:24:01Now that Jey blew that opportunity, now Roman can get in his ear even more and try to convince
00:24:08Jey to change his attitude, and there's the friction with Jey and his brother and everything.
00:24:12So I think there's an opportunity there to really kind of, for some really good long-term
00:24:17storytelling, which I think is kind of Triple H's calling card at this point.
00:24:20Anyway, so I'm kind of glad they didn't do the turn yet.
00:24:23Let's build to that a little more.
00:24:25You know, that's what I think.
00:24:27So I think it's good.
00:24:28I'm sick of the yeet.
00:24:31Are you?
00:24:32Yeah, I'm done.
00:24:33I was watching it last night, and maybe it was because I wasn't feeling the best.
00:24:41So, and Notre Dame did not play well yesterday, so that had me very agitated.
00:24:48They only beat a team with one win and now eight losses by 15 points.
00:24:53So I was very upset with that.
00:24:56Sports ball, Matt.
00:24:58Oh, oh, oh, oh, right.
00:25:01Um, so maybe my judgment was clouded, but I was laying there watching it, and I'm like,
00:25:06I'm really sick of this crap.
00:25:08Hmm.
00:25:09And then this whole, run it back, stop.
00:25:13Like, no.
00:25:15Let's get to the entrance everyone wants to see.
00:25:18Right, right.
00:25:20I don't, I don't want to eat.
00:25:21I think it's fun.
00:25:22I, no, yeah, I, and that, and CM Punk paying tribute to Duke Rufus, a pioneer of Midwest mixed martial arts.
00:25:34Um, Duke Rufus is so highly thought of here.
00:25:40His, in the Midwest, Duke Rufus is like the, him and Pat Miletic in the Midwest.
00:25:49Duke means more now than Pat does.
00:25:54Pat's a legend, but Duke has continued it.
00:25:57So much so that, uh, one of the fight camps here in Cedar Rapids, Team Hard Drive, is a Rufus Sport affiliate.
00:26:07That's how far the Rufus Sport branch goes.
00:26:11So, I didn't realize, uh, until last night, watching, uh, Saturday Night's Main Event, when, uh, Michael Cole said it, I didn't realize Duke Rufus had died.
00:26:21And then I looked it up, and he was only 55.
00:26:23Do you know what, what killed him?
00:26:25That's young.
00:26:26Heart attack while he was sleeping.
00:26:28Jeez, at 55, wow.
00:26:31And very, I actually had the privilege at a mixed martial arts show in Cedar Rapids here,
00:26:38to have, like, a 45-minute conversation with Duke.
00:26:42Yeah.
00:26:42Um, you would not meet a more, uh, kind, genuine, and a guy that just, like, we see so many times people, and you say, they're like, oh, he's a consummate professional.
00:26:59And I hate that term, because it's so generic.
00:27:02He's a consummate professional.
00:27:06What's that even mean?
00:27:08And then, turns out, the guy ends up beating his wife.
00:27:11And it's like, oh, guess he's not.
00:27:14Oh, well, no, he's still a consummate professional, but he's just a garbage human being.
00:27:19Oh, okay.
00:27:21Duke, you could tell he loved mixed martial arts.
00:27:27Guy would come to these Cedar Rapids fight shows,
00:27:30do color commentary on his own dying travel here,
00:27:36and just do color commentary to talk about mixed martial arts.
00:27:41Hmm.
00:27:42For a public access cable channel.
00:27:47Yeah, wow.
00:27:49And at his camp, he had guys like Anthony Pettis,
00:27:54uh, you know, Tyron Woodley, um, big guys, you know, top-tier UFC mixed martial arts fighters.
00:28:09And here he is driving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a favor to talk.
00:28:15And took time to talk to the fans, and even talked to kids, and, like, was showing them technique.
00:28:22Yeah.
00:28:24Like, no stand like this.
00:28:26Just an awesome guy.
00:28:28And the mixed martial arts community lost a gem.
00:28:34Well, so for people who don't know this, we should clarify the reason, you know,
00:28:40why CM Punk, uh, was so, uh, upset.
00:28:43And you could see it on his face.
00:28:44You could see it on Punk's face.
00:28:46He was, uh, he was, uh, uh, grieving, uh, was, you know, uh, Duke Rufus, who trained Punk.
00:28:53Yeah.
00:28:55Duke trained Punk.
00:28:57And was Punk's man, uh, business manager for his USC career.
00:29:03Oh, I didn't realize that part.
00:29:04Okay.
00:29:04I didn't know that part.
00:29:05Um, a lot of times in mixed martial arts, your trainer, also, or someone that your trainer
00:29:14is associated with, acts as your business manager.
00:29:18Okay.
00:29:19I did not know that.
00:29:20Yeah.
00:29:21They work hand in hand because the trainer needs to know, Hey, UFC called.
00:29:26There's three guys.
00:29:28Oh, I got to start finding tape on these three guys.
00:29:32So I have it ready.
00:29:34Yeah.
00:29:36Okay.
00:29:37And, or like UFC calls and says, Hey, this guy's going to miss weight.
00:29:43Uh, are you willing to do the fight at a catch weight?
00:29:46Well, I don't know if we can bulk him back up.
00:29:50The business manager can't make that decision.
00:29:53So going to go to the trainer or the trainer who's training him the most.
00:29:58Cause all fight camps, big fight camps have multiple trainers that work with guys.
00:30:04Yeah.
00:30:04Um, or you're going to be like, you know, no, he can't.
00:30:08Yes, he can.
00:30:08So it's a collaborative effort.
00:30:11Okay.
00:30:13Um, so 55.
00:30:14So he died of a heart attack in his sleep.
00:30:16Well, at least he didn't, I mean, at least he didn't suffer, obviously.
00:30:18I mean, if that's what happened.
00:30:20So, yeah.
00:30:21Uh, you know, a lot of people,
00:30:23uh, that's the, that's not the factual, like the proven reason, but that's what's rumored.
00:30:32That's what he died in his sleep.
00:30:36Well, that's the best way to go.
00:30:39But 55.
00:30:40Wow.
00:30:40Too young to die.
00:30:41That's for sure.
00:30:41Well, no, that's too bad.
00:30:43Yeah.
00:30:43Like I said, I didn't even realize he had passed away until, uh, they mentioned it on SNME,
00:30:48but that's obviously why punk looked, uh, he looked pretty distraught.
00:30:51You could, I mean, you could see it.
00:30:52You could see it in his face when he was talking out.
00:30:55The tights were such an amazing tribute.
00:30:58Yes.
00:30:59With the Rufus Sport lightning bolt and, um, the, the jacket that said Duke and had the
00:31:08punk fist with the holding the lightning bolt.
00:31:12It was just amazing.
00:31:13Amazing.
00:31:14And just shows the loyalty CM punk has to people that are loyal to him.
00:31:19Yeah.
00:31:20Um, you know, uh, I've spoken.
00:31:24I know Scott Colton, Colt Cabana.
00:31:27I know the issues him and CM punk have.
00:31:30Um, I'm going to say, uh, you know, it's tough for me because Scott Colton is a great guy.
00:31:42Um, but Scott Colton is also immature.
00:31:48Scott Colton is also very nonsensical.
00:31:58Um, um, and very much aloof.
00:32:07And so, um, everyone's like, well, CM punk went on his podcast and said all this stuff
00:32:17that got him into legal trouble.
00:32:20So CM punk should cover the lawyer fees.
00:32:24Scott Colton allowed CM punk to come on his podcast.
00:32:28Scott Colton probably as host of a podcast should have done some legal research and had
00:32:36a lawyer advise him of things that CM punk could and could not say.
00:32:41And knowing CM punk like he did.
00:32:44Should have known that some heavy stuff was going to come out.
00:32:52In, in, in defense of, um, I don't disagree with anything that you're saying, but I'll
00:32:56just play devil's advocate.
00:32:58Right.
00:32:59From Scott Colton's point of view, he probably was caught up in the moment thinking, and he
00:33:04already had a successful podcast.
00:33:06Actually, he's one of the first people to have, he's kind of a trailblazer.
00:33:09He's one of the people to have, have a successful podcast.
00:33:12He actually is a trailblazer in another sense.
00:33:15He did, uh, uh, wrestling road diaries.
00:33:21Um, he did the released videos of him on the road on DVD.
00:33:26Oh, okay.
00:33:27Um, like, yeah, that was, that was something big.
00:33:31Cause that's never been done before.
00:33:32Scott is smart in a marketing sense.
00:33:37Yeah.
00:33:38So he was probably caught up in the moment of this is going to take again,
00:33:42his already very successful podcast and make it huge, which kind of did at least in the
00:33:49moment.
00:33:49I mean, I'd never bothered.
00:33:50I'd never bothered to listen to a single episode of the art of wrestling.
00:33:54I was aware of it, but I'd never actually listened to it until CM Punk.
00:33:58So, you know, I can, so I can see how that would happen.
00:34:01And as far as I know in terms of covering his legal expenses, there was some sort of
00:34:07agreement and then fell apart and I don't really understand it all.
00:34:10And I think, I think the two of them are probably the only ones who know the full story, but you
00:34:15know, but whatever, I mean, you know, I love CM Punk and I, I respect Colt Cabana for what
00:34:20he's accomplished.
00:34:21I don't really have any strong feelings about him one way or the other though.
00:34:24Beyond that, I've never, besides him stealing French fries off my plated Hooters in Davenport,
00:34:31Iowa, had a bad experience with Scott Colton ever.
00:34:37He's always been funny.
00:34:39Nice.
00:34:40Um, I, I have heard people that have had bad experiences with him, but that is their story
00:34:49to tell.
00:34:49That isn't my story to tell.
00:34:51I don't have a bad thing to say about it.
00:34:54Okay.
00:34:55Okay.
00:34:56Well, very good.
00:34:57But he is not Ian Rotten.
00:35:00No, no.
00:35:01I would, I would hope not.
00:35:03I would hope not.
00:35:04No, but he also is still a staunch Ian Rotten supporter.
00:35:11Oh, he is?
00:35:11Okay.
00:35:12Yes.
00:35:13He had Ian Rotten on the art of wrestling after he was blackballed following that train
00:35:18wreck of an interview I sent you.
00:35:21Yeah.
00:35:22Oh, wow.
00:35:24Um, which I still haven't had a chance to watch, but I'm, but I'm going to.
00:35:28You and Jenny got to listen to it.
00:35:30Cause I want to know your thoughts.
00:35:31I, I actually took a break from watching wrestling for like three months after that
00:35:37interview, it shook my fandom to its core.
00:35:41Oh, wow.
00:35:43Okay.
00:35:43Yeah.
00:35:44You really like just, yeah, you really, it really makes you think, I mean, they could do
00:35:55if, if, if more people knew who Ian Rotten was, I, they should do a dark side of the ring
00:36:01about him.
00:36:03I'm surprised they haven't actually.
00:36:06Um, it's probably coming.
00:36:09Uh, they did one on Chris Cole.
00:36:12So yeah, I didn't know who Chris Cole was till they did a Chris Cole episode.
00:36:18Yeah.
00:36:19I didn't know who her was, right?
00:36:23I knew what UWF was, but I didn't know all the stuff that happened in who the hell her
00:36:30Baberums was.
00:36:32Yeah.
00:36:34Well, should we move on to the, uh, the main event or did you have anything else you wanted
00:36:38to say about SNME?
00:36:40I love Saturday night's main event.
00:36:42Um, I thought it was weird seeing Jade Cargill win in a school, essentially a squash kind
00:36:49of leads me to believe what I said on Matt Connerton Unleashed that Tiffany's probably
00:36:54taken some time off.
00:36:55Well, I also think it made sense because part of the story was Tiffany's knee injury.
00:37:00So I kind of liked the way I liked the way they did it.
00:37:04Actually.
00:37:04I thought it was cool.
00:37:05I, some of those power bombs were just rough.
00:37:10You all.
00:37:10Yeah.
00:37:11They did.
00:37:12But they, and I don't think they look good, but I, I, and that jaded was brutal.
00:37:22Yeah.
00:37:23Oh my goodness.
00:37:25You went over strong though.
00:37:27That's for sure.
00:37:28Uh, she went over something, uh, the plywood that plywood got over more than Tiffany Stratton
00:37:38did.
00:37:39Goodness gracious.
00:37:40But yeah.
00:37:42Uh, and Dom retained.
00:37:45Yes.
00:37:47So.
00:37:48Which I figured.
00:37:50Yeah.
00:37:50Yeah.
00:37:52I think the great thing about Dom is you now have to sit there.
00:37:57Sorry.
00:37:58You have to sit there and think.
00:38:00How does Dom retain now?
00:38:03No, it's not.
00:38:04He retains.
00:38:06It's how.
00:38:07Right.
00:38:09Like last night.
00:38:10You're like, it's Penta.
00:38:12It's Rusev.
00:38:13How does he get out of this?
00:38:15And man, he lies.
00:38:19He cheats.
00:38:19He steals.
00:38:21That's how it's perfect.
00:38:23Yes.
00:38:24It's perfect.
00:38:25All right.
00:38:26Well, should we move on to the, uh, I got a belly full of meat.
00:38:28Oh, hopefully we can get through this.
00:38:30Well, yeah, I'm surprised that's the only thing you have a belly of after watching this.
00:38:40Well, so I now, uh, full disclosure.
00:38:42So I did not watch the full event.
00:38:44Uh, Jenny and I just watched the chamber of horrors match and, uh, a horror it was.
00:38:51And, uh, as someone who is a lifelong opponent of capital punishment, I objected to it on multiple
00:38:58levels, but I think what repulsed me the most was the match itself.
00:39:02Uh, as, uh, it was rough.
00:39:04It should.
00:39:06Who've done.
00:39:08Oh, a lot going on here.
00:39:12Um, but should we talk about the, uh, wait, what now?
00:39:17Was that the opening match on the show?
00:39:19Yes, it was.
00:39:21That's right.
00:39:22Cause I thought I heard him say, yeah, I thought I heard Jim Ross, uh, say it was the opening
00:39:26match, which, uh, had me a little bit, uh, surprised.
00:39:30Well, because you gotta get it out of the way.
00:39:34For matches like big Josh and PN news defeated the creatures, creature one and creature two.
00:39:45Yeah.
00:39:46Oh boy.
00:39:48That's a main event in any arena.
00:39:50Oh man.
00:39:53Allie.
00:39:54We're burning down the house with that one.
00:39:57Oh, I mean, this, this, like this, this card is something.
00:40:06I mean, one, the match, the chamber of horrors match, which we're going to talk about.
00:40:15It originally was supposed to be staying in the Steiner brothers against Oz, the diamond
00:40:24stud, the one man gang in Barry Wyndham.
00:40:29Yeah.
00:40:30But Cactus Jack replaced Oz, Vader replaced Wyndham and Abdullah replaced gang.
00:40:40Yeah.
00:40:42Poor Abdullah, the butcher didn't turn out to be a good night for him.
00:40:45Did it?
00:40:47You know, the guy's still going through health issues.
00:40:50So I will say it did not definitely not a, not a moment on his highlight reel.
00:40:57No.
00:40:58Hmm.
00:41:00Yeah.
00:41:01Jenny and I sat through the match today.
00:41:04Oh, it was tedious.
00:41:07Like, oh, but, but so I just a couple quick observations though.
00:41:13The pyro at the beginning of the match was so random and strange.
00:41:18It was like, it was bizarre.
00:41:21And then something else I know.
00:41:23Oh, and the cheesy music, of course.
00:41:26Then I noticed something else.
00:41:28When Abdullah, the butcher was coming out, it didn't even say on the chyron, Abdullah, the butcher.
00:41:33It just said the butcher.
00:41:35It looks like they couldn't even bother to get his name right, which was a problem for WCW back then.
00:41:41That was not unusual for those kinds of things to happen.
00:41:44But yeah, it just said the butcher.
00:41:46This is the first match.
00:41:50This was the first match of the WCW era.
00:41:55Oh, it was after the split with NWA?
00:42:00Yes, this was the first Halloween Havoc held by WCW alone following the NWA split.
00:42:08Talk about born under a bad sign.
00:42:12Jeez.
00:42:13Oh, it's just brutal.
00:42:15I never thought I would be in a match where I'm watching it and Abdullah, the butcher, is in it.
00:42:24And he isn't the worst worker.
00:42:28Who would you say was the worst?
00:42:30I gotta go with El Guiante.
00:42:34Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:42:35Yeah.
00:42:36I mean, if you have a bad match with Undertaker at WrestleMania, you kind of live in wrestling infamy.
00:42:44The thing is, though, I think it would be a challenge for anyone to have, I mean, like a good match in this, because the structure itself, especially once the, I can't believe I'm even saying this, once the electric chair descends into the middle of the ring, it's like you've got no room to do anything in there.
00:43:07Like, that was, I mean, it was so strange and not a good idea.
00:43:15I want to say this.
00:43:17We will say a lot of negative things about El Guiante.
00:43:22El Gigante, sorry.
00:43:26Or El Guiante, I think it's how Jim Ross said it, yeah.
00:43:29Jorge Gonzalez, you won't hear anyone say a bad thing about him.
00:43:37I mean, Guy sent all of his money back home to his family in Argentina.
00:43:42He died broke in 2010 because of it.
00:43:47Like Harvey Whippleman, when he was his manager in WWE, WWF, then, had to kind of tell him, Jorge, you can't do this.
00:44:00What, send all his money home?
00:44:02Yeah, I mean, and the only reason WCW signed him is because he was chosen in the 1988 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks.
00:44:15I didn't know that.
00:44:16Yeah.
00:44:17They bought his rights for $30,000.
00:44:21However, he couldn't, because he played on the Argentinian national team.
00:44:28Yeah.
00:44:28But he couldn't, he had a serious knee injury back when they didn't know what they know now, arthroscopic, go in, sew it up.
00:44:39A knee injury ended your basketball career.
00:44:41But by, by God, he can wrestle.
00:44:48Oh, boy.
00:44:49I mean, Ted Turner was owner of the Hawks, so, man, recoup losses somehow.
00:44:57Right, right.
00:45:00Yeah, yeah.
00:45:01But I don't know how anyone could have done much, much of anything exciting in that ring anyway, like I said.
00:45:07I mean, no room to work.
00:45:09And it was just such, this is a time where WCW was literally throwing turds at a wall to see what would stick.
00:45:19Every pay-per-view, it seemed.
00:45:22And it's ironic that this is, I mean, this is kind of what ended them.
00:45:29There's a lot of things that ended them.
00:45:31And if you want to know them, I can't recommend this book enough.
00:45:35Nitro by Guy Evans.
00:45:37An unbiased look at the rise and fall of WCW.
00:45:43With, I mean, full access, production notes, emails, everything is in there.
00:45:55He interviewed people who haven't been interviewed about WCW before or since.
00:46:03Yeah.
00:46:04He talked to them.
00:46:05So that book, if you're a wrestling fan, you really gain an understanding for what went wrong in WCW when you read this book.
00:46:17Okay.
00:46:17I'm going to have to read that.
00:46:18I haven't read that.
00:46:19It is a long read, but it's a quick one because you just get so engrossed.
00:46:25And you really look at it and you're sitting there and you watch shows like Who Killed WCW.
00:46:33And as much as I dislike Vince Russo, it's not entirely, he didn't do it.
00:46:42It was corporate, it was corporate greed.
00:46:45It was ALL, Time Warner that just came in and siphoned him.
00:46:52They didn't want it.
00:46:53Yeah.
00:46:53And I mean, there were missteps done along the way that yes, Vince Russo made.
00:47:00Yes, Eric Bischoff made that, that got that ball rolling.
00:47:07But I mean, yeah, they took less money to sell it to Vince McMahon than to sell it to Eric, Eric Bischoff's group because they didn't even want it on TNT.
00:47:23Right.
00:47:24So without airtime, it was worthless unless you already had airtime elsewhere and they didn't give Eric Bischoff even time to find airtime elsewhere.
00:47:39Yeah.
00:47:41Unfortunately.
00:47:43Yeah.
00:47:44So, so yeah, but I mean, they were trying hokey crap like this all the time.
00:47:53Yeah.
00:47:55Um, yeah.
00:47:56This is just the king of the hokey.
00:47:59Yeah.
00:48:00Well, then it was just, it was just hard to watch.
00:48:02It was just hard to sit through.
00:48:03It was just tedious.
00:48:04You only have, not to shortchange anyone in this match because, you know, uh, chicken salad out of chicken shit.
00:48:15Um, you only have two, you, you only have from what I'm looking at, uh, three guys for, I don't know.
00:48:33If yeah, four, I would say four at this point that could really work sting, uh, Scott Hall, cactus, Jack, and big van Vader.
00:48:49Well, the Steiners too.
00:48:54Moving on.
00:48:58What?
00:48:59Uh, no, the Steiners are very good.
00:49:03The Steiners are one trick ponies.
00:49:06They're very good at one trick, but if they're in a match where they can't do that one trick,
00:49:12I mean, I think they're one of the easily, one of the top 10 greatest tag teams ever.
00:49:21But singularly, yeah, I think Scott was able to do more as a singles than wreck.
00:49:31Well, yeah, but, but, but it was character work that got him over.
00:49:35Yeah.
00:49:35Ring work.
00:49:36Yeah.
00:49:37I think both of them together.
00:49:39The, the sum was greater than the parts.
00:49:44Oh, definitely.
00:49:45I, I think that it, when you broke them up, you kind of, it's a lot like what people thought
00:49:52would happen to the rockers when they broke the rockers up, but they didn't realize what
00:49:59a work.
00:49:59I mean, they, they knew, but you don't know until you see it in action.
00:50:05What a workhorse Sean was.
00:50:07Right.
00:50:08And then Marty Jannetty just fell apart.
00:50:12Yeah.
00:50:13He imploded.
00:50:14Yeah.
00:50:15Yeah.
00:50:16But yeah, this match was, I was, I was glad when it was over.
00:50:19It was only, how did it seem like it was to you, Matt?
00:50:24That that's, I would like to know.
00:50:27It seemed like it was at least a half hour.
00:50:29I know it was, I think 19 minutes.
00:50:3112 minutes, 33 seconds.
00:50:35Is that including the entrances?
00:50:37Cause I think the YouTube videos like 19.
00:50:39Okay.
00:50:40Cause the YouTube videos like 19 minutes.
00:50:41So yeah, but it's, it did seem longer.
00:50:44It seemed, it was, I thought when I was watching the event, because there are some interesting
00:50:50matches on this event.
00:50:52Um, it's a shame that this started it off because you had Brian Pillman win the lightweight championship
00:51:00tournament, you had Steve Austin have a killer match with Dustin Rhodes.
00:51:08Um, yeah, the championship match between Luger and Ron Simmons was actually, you know, for
00:51:17those two guys, quite good.
00:51:20If, if, if people say Lex Luger can't work, this is one of the matches I'd have them go
00:51:26watch.
00:51:26Cause he does a very good job.
00:51:29Okay.
00:51:31He really does.
00:51:33I really can't sit here and bash Lex.
00:51:38Yeah.
00:51:39So, so do you think the event was good overall then?
00:51:43God, no.
00:51:45Look, look, no, there were a few bright spots, but man, um, I mean,
00:51:56you, I mean, this was the beginning of the end for Luger.
00:52:04He only defended the title twice after this and left to join the world bill world bodybuilding
00:52:12federation.
00:52:14Yeah.
00:52:15Um, uh, I mean, I, who faced the, uh, were one of the strong men,
00:52:25competitors, Bill Kazmaier, goodness gracious, would become Vinnie Vegas in a turn that would
00:52:37ultimately lead us down the road to the start of the NWL.
00:52:42So there are presbyces that begin here that I think it's a very key event in wrestling lore.
00:52:52Um, yeah, you really kind of, you're like, wait a minute, that's Razor Ramon.
00:52:58Why is he paying, playing a gigolo?
00:53:03Right.
00:53:05Wait a minute.
00:53:07That guy with the gray hair, is that Kevin Nash?
00:53:11By God, is, and why is Richard Morton facing Brian Pillman for a lightweight title?
00:53:23Yeah.
00:53:26Yeah.
00:53:26Well, I might have to go back and watch some of that.
00:53:28Some of those matches.
00:53:29The fact that the championship match only got 19 minutes, um, and Brian Pillman got 12 minutes,
00:53:4245 seconds to win the light heavyweight championship.
00:53:46Yeah.
00:53:47I mean, this definitely, you could see, I think the best match of the night is I'm going to
00:53:56go on this card is Steve Austin versus Dustin Rhodes.
00:54:01It's a 15 minute time limit draw, but both guys just go.
00:54:07Really?
00:54:08Yeah.
00:54:08Um, I think you could have cut, uh, yeah, they had a one minute, 13 match minute, Matt
00:54:17one minute, 13 second match between Van Hammer and Doug Summers.
00:54:23Oh, uh, Doug Summers.
00:54:25Was he one of the, uh, the, the, the, the pistols or something?
00:54:31Um, no, Doug Summers was a part of a team in a W a with playboy, buddy Rose.
00:54:39Oh, wow.
00:54:41Okay.
00:54:41If you see, if you're a fan of Sean Michaels, most fans of Sean know this match.
00:54:49It's called the Las Vegas blood bath where they have a two out of three falls match with
00:54:57playboy, buddy Rose and pretty boy, Doug Summers, the midnight rockers and a blade job goes
00:55:07horribly long.
00:55:10Oh, wow.
00:55:11Sean nicks the artery in his head.
00:55:15Yeah.
00:55:16And blood everywhere.
00:55:18And it aired on ESPN.
00:55:20Oh, wow.
00:55:22Um, yeah.
00:55:23You guys go look for it.
00:55:27It's, uh, definitely a lesson learned by Sean.
00:55:34Yeah.
00:55:34And if you wonder why Sean was able to get, uh, get juice so quick in matches, it's because
00:55:43it never healed.
00:55:45Right.
00:55:45So he was able to just get, if he nicked it with his fist, just right.
00:55:53He, he could bust it.
00:55:55Oh, okay.
00:55:56Okay.
00:55:57If you look at him closely, you can see the scar tissue on his forehead.
00:56:01That isn't built up from years of blading.
00:56:07That was one blade job.
00:56:10No kidding.
00:56:11Yeah.
00:56:12It puts Eddie Guerrero and JBL judgment day to Shane.
00:56:16With the amount of blood that is spilled.
00:56:20And that was, that was one of the few times that he made a mistake.
00:56:27Yeah.
00:56:28Do you know the story behind that, Matt?
00:56:33Uh, I think so.
00:56:34Because I think I've heard JBL tell the story on, uh, something to wrestle.
00:56:38Basically, Eddie took a shit ton of Tylenol.
00:56:40Tylenol.
00:56:41Yeah.
00:56:42Before blading.
00:56:43Because he wanted it to look good.
00:56:45And it was Eddie being in Eddie's head that it wasn't going to look good.
00:56:51And, uh, yeah.
00:56:53Oh my goodness.
00:56:55That happened actually in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center.
00:57:00So, the Tylenol thinned his blood.
00:57:03Oh, yeah.
00:57:05Like, like, I, when I lived in Mason City, Iowa, one of my friends was actually there live.
00:57:14And he said, like, people were looking away.
00:57:19Yeah.
00:57:20I believe it.
00:57:21He's like, they literally took a squeegee out to the mat in between matches and were squeegeeing it off.
00:57:33Yeah.
00:57:34Wow.
00:57:35Yeah.
00:57:35Because then there's worries about hepatitis and all of that.
00:57:39Just, oh my goodness.
00:57:41It wasn't, uh, like nine times out of 10, I'll tell the audience this.
00:57:45When a guy bleeds too much in a match, he bladed wrong.
00:57:51Mm-hmm.
00:57:52Or he didn't, he thinks he isn't getting enough and he keeps cutting.
00:57:58Yeah.
00:57:59You need one cut and all you impressionable viewers do not do this.
00:58:11Right.
00:58:12Do, we do not want sued.
00:58:15No, no.
00:58:17You cut right on the hairline.
00:58:21Yeah.
00:58:21And you let it trickle.
00:58:24Now, if it doesn't trickle or you're not getting enough, then hit it.
00:58:32But never cut again.
00:58:37Okay.
00:58:38Don't do it.
00:58:41Yeah.
00:58:41Don't do it.
00:58:43And do not let anyone gig you.
00:58:48Mm.
00:58:50It never ends well.
00:58:54Unless you're Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret the Hitman Hart.
00:58:58That is.
00:59:00But, because Austin had never bled before.
00:59:05Yeah.
00:59:05That was his first time.
00:59:09Obviously, you trusted Bret.
00:59:10Well, yeah.
00:59:11But Bret told him, he goes, I would never, I would never, I would never tell you to do this.
00:59:20But, Steve, you can trust me.
00:59:23Let me do it.
00:59:24Mm-hmm.
00:59:25Yeah.
00:59:28Yeah?
00:59:29Yeah.
00:59:29Yeah.
00:59:30Um, uh, yeah.
00:59:32If you're an up-and-coming wrestler, do not let someone do it for you.
00:59:38There's just too much temptation there.
00:59:41If you potato that, and then you're giving them a razor, oh, my goodness.
00:59:49There's a lot that can go wrong.
00:59:50Um, if Mass Transit were still alive, just ask him.
00:59:56Mm-hmm.
00:59:57Mm-hmm.
00:59:58Uh, I, I personally would never ask New Jack, even knowing what we know now, even if I were
01:00:06him then, I, what in your right mind would lead you to go up to New Jack and be like,
01:00:13hey, gig me.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:18No.
01:00:19I'd rather be gigged by Magic Johnson with an open wound than New Jack.
01:00:29Yeah.
01:00:32Yeah.
01:00:34Well, I mean, uh, is there anything else to say about, uh, Halloween Havoc 91 or, uh, the
01:00:40Chamber of Horrors?
01:00:41This, this just began a trend of WCW doing horrible gimmicky matches at Halloween Havoc.
01:00:49You had the coal miners spin the wheel, make the deal, the coal miners glove match, which
01:00:56I loved the promos though.
01:00:58I love the promos.
01:00:58But eventually, but eventually the bell has to ring, I mean, and bad enough that Sting has
01:01:09said they didn't even have enough rules going into the match.
01:01:13Yeah.
01:01:14Um, then you had an uncensored, they tried to bring back in a, you, I call it an aborted fetus of the Chamber of Horrors match.
01:01:26When they had the level, the many levels steel cage with the Alliance to end Hulkamania versus
01:01:37Hulk Hogan and Macho Man.
01:01:42And you had both of them just blow through all of your top heels.
01:01:47Yeah.
01:01:47Yeah.
01:01:48Um, and that's pretty bad.
01:01:50You had the worst gimmick match of all time.
01:01:53The monster truck battle between the giant and Hulk Hogan where the giant gets backed off the top of the building of
01:02:06Cabo Hall.
01:02:09Yeah.
01:02:09But which side did he fall on?
01:02:12Oh my God.
01:02:16And that, you had the debut, the Yeti.
01:02:23Oh, the Yeti.
01:02:24Yes.
01:02:24Oh my goodness.
01:02:26And I, oh my God.
01:02:29Yes.
01:02:31Guys, viewers, you think we're making all of this up.
01:02:35No, we are not.
01:02:37All of these, except the Alliance to end the Hulkamania matches happened at Halloween Havoc.
01:02:44Yeah.
01:02:45Yeah.
01:02:45They all did at one hour.
01:02:49Uh, and then we Halloween Havoc also had the biggest fail in WCW history.
01:02:58What was that?
01:03:00They lost their airtime.
01:03:05They what?
01:03:06You lost what?
01:03:07They lost their airtime.
01:03:10They went out.
01:03:11Their end time?
01:03:12Airtime.
01:03:13Oh.
01:03:14Oh, right, right, right.
01:03:15People didn't see the main event.
01:03:18Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:03:19Yeah.
01:03:20That happened at a Halloween Havoc.
01:03:23Yeah.
01:03:23Yeah, they ended up having to show the main event on Nitro the next night, if I remember
01:03:30correctly.
01:03:30Yeah, and lost millions.
01:03:34Yeah.
01:03:35Yeah, people were pissed.
01:03:37Oh, yeah.
01:03:39It actually, that's probably the best match of Goldberg's career.
01:03:44Yeah, yeah.
01:03:45Goldberg versus DDP.
01:03:46Yeah, I remember watching it on Nitro the next night, because I never paid for anything
01:03:51WCW.
01:03:52And, uh, and it was, yeah, I agree with you.
01:03:54That probably was the best match of Goldberg's career.
01:03:57And one of DDP's better matches, too.
01:03:59I mean, yeah.
01:04:00Uh, again, it just, oh, boy, yeah, I actually was watching it, uh, as many of my childhood
01:04:12pay-per-view matches begin, um, I wasn't sitting in my buddy Rob Deeson's basement watching
01:04:20it.
01:04:20I was sitting at home watching it, because that's back when you could still just call
01:04:26your cable operator and get it.
01:04:28You.
01:04:29Yeah.
01:04:29Um, I was watching it in my room, and I got up, uh, and pounded on my wall, like, someone
01:04:37called, it went out, table went out, and it said viewer's choice, and I'm like, pounding,
01:04:50like, somebody, I gave my aunt $40 to watch this event, because I had a job at the time.
01:04:57Um, I was a 17-year-old, uh, entrepreneurial 17-year-old flipping burgers at Hardee's.
01:05:06Yeah.
01:05:07So I was flush with dollar bills.
01:05:10Yes, yes.
01:05:12Or I thought I was.
01:05:13I was making $5.75 an hour.
01:05:16Yeah.
01:05:17I thought I was king shit.
01:05:22Yeah.
01:05:22Well, I still don't think I ever got my $40 back from Aunt Cindy for that.
01:05:33Oh.
01:05:34She's still around?
01:05:37Yes.
01:05:37I love my Aunt Cindy to death.
01:05:39That is one of the toughest women ever.
01:05:43Yeah, I remember we were talking about her before.
01:05:44She's a, she, no, I owe her way more than $40 fucking dollars.
01:05:52I'll be 100% honest.
01:05:55That woman has survived breast cancer, and, uh, at the beginning of October, she had a kidney
01:06:02removed.
01:06:03Oh, wow.
01:06:04Because she had a kidney cancer.
01:06:07Oh, Jesus.
01:06:08So, yeah, one tough woman, and she's still refusing to give up her black velvet and Pepsis.
01:06:16Yeah.
01:06:18You know what?
01:06:20And you know what?
01:06:22That woman is my mother, and like I said, I owe her way more than $40.
01:06:28So.
01:06:28Yeah, yeah.
01:06:29She can have it.
01:06:30But, yeah.
01:06:31Yeah.
01:06:32Yeah.
01:06:33She's like, she came into my room, and she goes, I don't know what happened.
01:06:37Someone messed up.
01:06:38And walked away, and I'm like, you.
01:06:42No, she was right.
01:06:43You haven't thought for like 45 minutes.
01:06:47That's all you got?
01:06:49Someone messed up.
01:06:51I'm going to go to school tomorrow.
01:06:52I was going to be talking about this, and I'm going to have to act like I saw it.
01:06:56Looked like I'm more.
01:06:58And to be fair, everyone was talking about it.
01:07:02But no one.
01:07:03Yeah.
01:07:03What happened?
01:07:05Right, right.
01:07:06Exactly.
01:07:06Yeah.
01:07:07Until, like, in the afternoon when we had study hall and got to go to the computer lab
01:07:14and look it up on the internet.
01:07:17Yeah, yeah.
01:07:19Oh, they're showing it tonight on Nitro.
01:07:22I think that's probably one of the last times I actually missed Raw to watch Nitro.
01:07:27Oh, really?
01:07:28Yeah.
01:07:28Yeah, and I remember watching it like, oh, that's good.
01:07:37Like, not 40 bucks good, but.
01:07:41Right, right.
01:07:42Yeah, yeah, exactly.
01:07:44Well, should we, should we wrap up on that, on that subject?
01:07:48Yeah.
01:07:49Um, I'll just say, you know, Halloween Havoc.
01:07:53If you want the best of the best and the worst of the worst, just watch any Halloween Havoc.
01:08:00Because, for whatever reason, there, yeah, hoo boy.
01:08:09Yeah.
01:08:10So, what are we, uh, so what are we doing next week?
01:08:12We didn't, we didn't talk about it off there like we usually do.
01:08:14I forgot to, uh.
01:08:15We should get better about that.
01:08:16We're, we, you, um, we should talk about one of your favorite subjects, Matt.
01:08:27What's that?
01:08:29Hardcore wrestling.
01:08:31Oh, good lord.
01:08:33Well, we can.
01:08:35Who am I talking about it?
01:08:36But here's what we can talk about.
01:08:38Guys that did it right.
01:08:40Guys that took it too far.
01:08:42And what is too far in the world of hardcore wrestling?
01:08:46What is, you know, where you're like, yo.
01:08:49Uh, one of the names was brought up when I think of too far.
01:08:53Uh.
01:08:54Uh, you know, and why, what is the appeal of hardcore wrestling?
01:09:02Well, that'd be a good thing to get into, because I don't understand it.
01:09:04So, it'd be an opportunity for you to explain it to me, because I don't, I don't get it.
01:09:07Um, what drives these guys to do this crap?
01:09:13Like.
01:09:14Yeah.
01:09:14Um, and, you know, and I'll apologize in advance.
01:09:18It's probably going to sound like a rehashed episode of dark side of the ring, but there's
01:09:23no other way to do this because a lot of the guys that are top hardcore wrestlers are
01:09:29subjects.
01:09:30And I think we've kind of been building to this with people we've talked about.
01:09:35Just incredible.
01:09:37Uh, you know, uh, we'll talk about one of my favorite all time wrestlers next week.
01:09:43I'm sure Mick Foley.
01:09:46Mm-hmm.
01:09:47Okay.
01:09:48Well, I do.
01:09:49I do love Mick Foley.
01:09:50Um, an infamous, uh, story about the movie Beyond the Ring, um, that man, uh, you know,
01:10:01uh, talk about it and talk about Mick Foley and the amount of punishment he has dealt and
01:10:12still deals with today because of things he's done.
01:10:18Yeah.
01:10:18Um, and kind of, you do it as kind of a warning to all of you that think hardcore wrestling
01:10:25is awesome.
01:10:27Mm-hmm.
01:10:28All right.
01:10:29Well, that sounds good.
01:10:30Yeah.
01:10:30We can do that next week.
01:10:31That'll be our main event.
01:10:32Yeah.
01:10:33Since I've, you know, kind of disrobed my face a lot, my glasses are off, my hat's off.
01:10:41Oh yeah.
01:10:42Oh yeah.
01:10:43I, I, it might be an early night for Eric.
01:10:46I'm.
01:10:47Yeah.
01:10:48Uh, I'm don't forget, of course, uh, everyone visit our new sponsor imposter.ai imposter.ai
01:10:54and, uh, yeah, visit it and it's out there, you know, it's out there.
01:11:01Uh, he did, he is the fake seamy hangar.
01:11:06That's right.
01:11:07Promo code Jose Martinez gets you a free month.
01:11:11Yup.
01:11:13Yup.
01:11:15I should look and make sure.
01:11:17I, I wonder if that's a real website now.
01:11:19Watch it.
01:11:20I'm going to send them to like some, uh, it's going to send them to a Bukkake video, Matt.
01:11:27Oh, good Lord.
01:11:34No, it's nothing.
01:11:35I could see Jose being in a Bukkake video.
01:11:42Sure.
01:11:42I mean, he does talk about some sick things going into orifices.
01:11:49Maybe.
01:11:50Yeah.
01:11:51He goes into sick things going on to him from other human bodies.
01:11:56Well, he certainly wants to do something to our butts.
01:11:58He talks about it all, all the time.
01:12:01Unfortunately.
01:12:02Yes.
01:12:03And I'm sorry, Jose.
01:12:04I, I, I, you know, there are websites out there where you can meet that man.
01:12:10That is just for you.
01:12:12Yes.
01:12:13That will be into all of that.
01:12:15Your Bukkake videos, your, uh, I've heard things about donkeys and he's banned from zoos.
01:12:24Oh yeah.
01:12:25Yeah.
01:12:27Well, it's understandable.
01:12:29I'm banned from zoos because of things he likes to do with animals.
01:12:32I don't know.
01:12:34I don't judge.
01:12:36Um, but let's just say there are worse things you can do to animals than what Michael Vick
01:12:41did to pit bulls and Jose probably has done them.
01:12:46Yes.
01:12:46Yes.
01:12:47It's funny too, because he, he talks about us.
01:12:49Like we do that because you know, we live in, uh, not in New York city, but, uh, but
01:12:55I think, uh, I think it's all projection.
01:12:56I think he's, he's the one who does that with animals.
01:12:59I think it's a crime in New York city to do that.
01:13:03Probably not.
01:13:03I know it's a crime in Iowa.
01:13:05Yeah.
01:13:06It's a crime in Iowa.
01:13:07I would guess it's a crime in New Hampshire.
01:13:10I'm sure it is.
01:13:11I mean, I've never looked it up, but I would assume it is.
01:13:13Yeah.
01:13:14To look it up.
01:13:15So thanks for throwing me under that bus, Matt.
01:13:21I got no reason to research this, but I'm pretty sure it's a crime in Iowa.
01:13:29Um, we are, we are a very, uh, we are not a progressive state.
01:13:36Let's just say that.
01:13:37Right.
01:13:38Right.
01:13:39Understood.
01:13:41So yeah.
01:13:42Oh, and we love animals, not in that way here in Iowa.
01:13:46We really care about animals.
01:13:49Yeah.
01:13:50Good.
01:13:51Good.
01:13:51Well, very good.
01:13:52Well, I think, uh, on that note, we'll, uh, we'll wrap up, uh, this episode, but, uh,
01:13:57thank you all for joining us.
01:13:58Everyone who, uh, joined us for the live stream.
01:14:01And of course, everyone who gets the show in the podcast, of course, you can find it in
01:14:04your podcast platform of choice, uh, as we do every week.
01:14:08And if you want to know what's that?

01:14:13No, I am.
01:14:14Uh, no, that is true.
01:14:16I am banned from live streaming on Facebook until December.
01:14:19Uh, they will not tell me why, cause they don't tell you why.
01:14:22I just know that I am.
01:14:23So that's fine.
01:14:26Whatevs, as I think the young people say, but, uh, on that note,
01:14:30I do think that's, that's an up and coming saying.
01:14:35Whatevs.
01:14:35Yeah.
01:14:35Yeah.
01:14:36Yeah.
01:14:37Well, you know, I try to, I try to come across like a hep cat, you know, not some jive
01:14:41turkey, you know, you got to be, you got to be the hip cat.
01:14:45Cause I'm like the cantankerous old man on the show.
01:14:49Oh, I'm the hep cat.
01:14:51Brace that role.
01:14:53You got to be the hip happening cat.
01:14:56Yes.
01:14:57I got to be the jive turkey, not a monkey boy, but a jive turkey.
01:15:02Right.
01:15:03Yes.
01:15:04And we're still talking about animals.
01:15:06Oh, that guy.
01:15:08Maybe, you know, we should stop now before I say some stuff that I shouldn't.
01:15:14Well, very good.

01:15:53Yeah.
01:15:54Yeah.
01:15:55I don't get it.
01:15:56I, I, I'm just like, and I try to talk with everyone that tries to talk with me.
01:16:03Um, it's just like, yeah, it's a good time.
01:16:09I think it's one of those things that if I ever figure out how to work Tik TOK, I could
01:16:14be dangerous.
01:16:16Excellent.
01:16:17Well, congratulations on that.
01:16:19Good.
