WHEN parents Brittany and Justin decided to try and get pregnant to give their daughter Savannah a brother, they got a lot more than they bargained for! Brittany admits that her husband "was happy with one kid" but Brittany really wanted a son, so when she managed to persuade him to try for one more, they began a round of IUI. When Brittany went for a scan, she was hoping only for "a healthy baby" - but she was not expecting to be told that she would be having quadruplets. On top of that, doctors told her that by taking all four babies to full term, she could be "risking [her] life". Brittany was determined to give birth to all four though - and when she did just that, she finally gave birth to the son she wanted... as well as three more girls! Life changed dramatically for the family, with Brittany giving up her career to raise Savannah and her four new siblings Hazel, Paisley, Scarlett and Chase as a stay-at-home mom. As Brittany told Truly, daily life in their family home is now "loud, it's chaotic" - and she runs a tight ship in order to stay in control of such a busy household. She even came up with her own "red light / green light system" to let the children know when they have to stay in their room and when they can leave. And now that the parents have their squad of five, they wouldn't have it any other way - but will Brittany and Justin choose to add even more kids to the mix?

00:00I'm a mom of quadruplets.
00:01Yuhu-yuh!
00:05We were trying for one boy and four babies arrived.
00:08Hey mom!
00:09Hey!
00:10The doctors told me that by continuing this pregnancy I was potentially risking my life.
00:16The bigger you got, the scarier it got.
00:19We've been accused of caring more about our son and not about our daughters.
00:25We can clearly see who's the favorite child.
00:28Feel sorry for the baby girls.
00:31No happy cheers for them.
00:33Ouch!
00:34People are like, how do you do this?
00:36I'm like, well, you have to.
00:37Okay, here's the big question.
00:39Do you want more kids?
00:41Who remembers how to make them?
00:43Big!
00:44Okay, keep piling them in.
00:45Let's get them towards the bottom.
00:46I have five kids.
00:47Savannah, seven.
00:48And then the quadruplets are four.
00:50So there's Hazel, Paisley, Scarlet, and Chase.
00:53Here we go.
00:54I would describe my children as being carefree, but with the flow.
00:59They kind of have to.
01:00There's five of them.
01:01Movie!
01:02Movie!
01:03Movie!
01:04Movie!
01:05How is it, Chase?
01:06We always set them in the order of where they sit.
01:09So Scarlet sits here, my husband sits here, and then Chase.
01:12We do label their water cups for school.
01:15How would you describe your family life?
01:17Okay.
01:18It's loud.
01:20Like, it's chaotic.
01:23You want them to have fun, but then, like, you try to have a conversation with my husband.
01:28Like, good luck.
01:29Chase, here's the real question.
01:32Who's the strongest?
01:33I.
01:34My husband's name is Justin.
01:36We've been married for 11 years.
01:38We both worked full time, and he still does to this day.
01:43Justin was fine with one kid, and I said, no, let's try for a second kid in hopes of a boy.
01:50Well, we got our boy, but three extra girls with it.
01:54We made the decision pretty quickly that I would stay home with them.
01:58That's yours, right?
01:59What is it like having quadruplets?
02:01People ask this all the time.
02:03How do you adjust?
02:04Everyone has their own little preference.
02:06Someone likes the scrambled, someone just likes the white, and someone likes the white with the oak.
02:11I didn't really have a lot of time for excitement digging.
02:15Do you need a fork?
02:16See?
02:17I'm already up.
02:20It was more of like my brain went into preparation mode.
02:23I need four of everything.
02:25What am I going to do about room situations and, you know, finding four cribs?
02:33You know, how will we afford this?
02:34We got to make our bets.
02:36Okay.
02:37I don't want to remake my bet.
02:39Okay.
02:40So Savannah has her own room.
02:42Chase has his own room.
02:43And then the three girls get to share this big room.
02:46Phoebe's little man.
02:47Phoebe.
02:48Cheese ball.
02:49His name is cheese ball.
02:51As you can see, it's not always, you know.
02:55I love you.
02:57Okay, wants to show them their closets.
02:59Is this all of your stuff?
03:01Slippers, princess dresses, tank tops.
03:06We've even got mismatched socks, so socks who are missing their hair go in here.
03:12My husband, he's carefree.
03:14I'm more of the structured type.
03:17Kids love routine.
03:18They love our schedule.
03:19They've learned patience through the process.
03:22This is our very own red light, green light system.
03:25The red light indicates that it's bedtime and they are to stay in their beds.
03:30When I see the kids are awake, but I'm not ready to get them up yet.
03:33I will turn it to what color, Scarlett?
03:35Yellow.
03:36This indicates to them that they can get out of their bed, read a book, but they have to stay in their room still.
03:42When I'm ready to get them up, I will switch the color to green.
03:45This system has really given me a lot of peace of mind.
03:51I get asked all the time, like, how do you do it?
03:54If you woke up and you were handed four kids at once, you would just do what you have to do.
04:03Today, my mom is coming over to help with the kids.
04:06Are you waiting for me?
04:07She was there when I first found out about the quadruplets.
04:11Grammy, give her big hugs.
04:14Give her big hugs.
04:16The process we went through is actually called IUI, which stands for artificial insemination.
04:23Hi, Chasey.
04:25I went into that room then for the sonogram, praying for a healthy baby.
04:29She said, yep, you know, there's a sack.
04:32And then, you know, they move the sonogram around.
04:34Well, I see two.
04:35And I said, oh, so there's twins.
04:37And then she's like, oh, no, there's three.
04:41Well, and there's also a fourth one.
04:43And her tone kind of got real, like, I don't know what she was thinking.
04:48Remember that day I showed up to your house with the sonogram?
04:51And it's got four little, what are they at that point, eggs?
04:56I thought you were joking.
04:58Oh.
04:59And I honestly don't think it hit me at all that that was even a possibility.
05:06And we were afraid of what could happen.
05:09And then when we went to the hospital, the doctor looked at both of us and said,
05:14you know, we really suggest that you remove a couple of them.
05:19Reduce?
05:20Reduce.
05:21And we looked at each other, and that's when I really got nervous.
05:25The doctors told me that by continuing this pregnancy, I was potentially risking my life.
05:32But for me and my husband, it was not a question.
05:36You kind of feel special that it's happening to you, but then inside you're, like, scared to death.
05:42The bigger you got, the scarier it got for all of us, I think.
05:48There was always potential that all four, we could lose all four.
05:52And I think it was like 45 minutes and the nurse came in and said,
05:55she's done, everything's good.
05:57And I just was like, oh, thank goodness that everything was fine and they're all alive and you're alive.
06:04I would never change a thing.
06:06I mean, every single one of these kids means so much to me and I love them all so, so much, so very dearly.
06:13And you're doing a fantastic job too.
06:16Yeah.
06:17I love you.
06:18Thanks mom.
06:19I love you.
06:20Oh!
06:21Oh!
06:22Oh!
06:23Oh!
06:24Oh!
06:25Oh!
06:26Oh!
06:27I started posting videos just to share with friends and family.
06:32I was just sharing, like, cute videos that I had accidentally captured.
06:37And I had one video go viral.
06:40Two sisters.
06:41Do you think this one's going to be a boy or a girl?
06:43Boy.
06:44Boy?
06:45Yeah!
06:46Oh my God!
06:47Oh!
06:48I got that.
06:49Three pounds!
06:50Three pounds!
06:51Daddy baby Jesus!
06:52Three!
06:53The controversy of my gender reveal viral video was our reactions.
06:59Our excitement was a lot bigger than it was for the first three, so people just assumed
07:05we only wanted a boy.
07:07We can clearly see who's the favorite child.
07:10That boy is going to be as spoiled as no tomorrow.
07:14feel sorry for the baby girls.
07:16No happy cheers for them.
07:19People were quick to judge.
07:20They don't see the bigger picture
07:22or see your profile of how well you treat all of your children.
07:27Even though there's that one negative comment,
07:29there's usually then like 50 positive comments.
07:32And that kind of, you know, gets you through those tough times.
07:35Yeah!
07:37Yeah!
07:38Oh, daddy's home.
07:41Hi, dudes.
07:42Go say hi, baby.
07:44Go give him a hug.
07:44Paisley.
07:45Scarlett doesn't care.
07:47So what was your real thoughts with like going for another kid?
07:49Let me go let him find out.
07:51I was just hoping that however many kids we were going to have,
07:53they came out healthy and they all did.
07:56So that's all I'm excited about.
07:58How is it now that you have four?
08:01Having four, it's a lot of work.
08:02But once you're in it, you don't really think about it.
08:05You just kind of do it, you know?
08:08The love that they bring into the mix, those moments
08:12where everybody's together and happy and like we're all, you know,
08:16so engaged and loving, it like you forget about the bad moments.
08:20People are like, how do you do this?
08:22And I'm like, well, you have to.
08:23Oh, nice kick.
08:24There's no, I can't do this or I won't do this.
08:28It's like you're doing this.
08:30Okay, here's the big question.
08:33Do you want more kids?
08:35No.
08:37Our family is perfect.
08:39It's a perfect size and feels complete.
08:42And I don't think we need any more additions.
08:45No, we're happy, right?
08:46Very happy.
08:47Yeah.
