00:00:13But eager muggles aren't the studio's only visitors
00:00:17Because we've invited the world's finest bakers here too
00:00:22That's cool
00:00:23What in the world? Do you need a hand?
00:00:25This seat, eight brand new teams will take part in the most extraordinary competition
00:00:34For the coveted Wizards of Baking Cup
00:00:37You can't come to Hogwarts and not do magic
00:00:39They'll conjure up all sorts of spellbinding sweet creations
00:00:46Inspired by the world of Harry Potter
00:00:52Then they'll present them to our formidable ministers of baking
00:00:57A top chef all-star whose very mantra is to cook with love
00:01:01Chef Carla Hall
00:01:03And an acclaimed chef who has worked in Michelin star kitchens around the world
00:01:08Chef Joseph Youssef
00:01:10Yes
00:01:11There we go
00:01:12As well as some very special guests
00:01:15This is what I've waited 20 years for
00:01:17Guiding us are two chaps who are no strangers to Hogwarts
00:01:21Fred and George Weasley themselves
00:01:23Ready Fred?
00:01:24Ready George
00:01:25James and Oliver Phelps
00:01:27Well, isn't the Flu Network amazing?
00:01:31So let the magic and the baking begin
00:01:35Oh my god
00:01:46We are literally in the great hall
00:01:48This is like a dream come true
00:01:50I am a huge fan of the books and the movies
00:01:52Oh my god
00:01:54Oh my god
00:01:55I can't believe that we are here
00:01:57Look look look
00:01:58Whoa
00:01:59I don't even know where to look
00:02:00Dude the trophy has Jordan and Zoe's name on it
00:02:01No way
00:02:17¡No, no!
00:02:24¡Caina, playing cool!
00:02:27¡Atención, bancos!
00:02:33¡Camin' de ahí, camin' de ahí.
00:02:35When James and Oliver Phelps, the Weasley twins themselves, came in,
00:02:38they snuck in so quiet for such tall boys,
00:02:40we couldn't hear them.
00:02:42I don't think I'm normally a very starstruck person,
00:02:45but I kind of felt a bit starstruck.
00:02:47They're like Harry Potter royalty.
00:02:50¡YOU'VE MADE IT!
00:02:51¡WELCOME TO WIZARD OF BAKING CHAPTER II!
00:02:59And a competition grander than even the Quidditch World Cup.
00:03:02i'm james and i'm oliver and if you can't tell us apart just think i'm the handsome one
00:03:08so of course this is the great hall and it's been the scene of some truly unforgettable moments
00:03:16for you ball dumbledore's iconic speeches welcome welcome to another year at home
00:03:24and most impressive of all fred and george's firework display
00:03:32if the harry potter store has taught us anything it's that success is rarely achieved alone
00:03:49it requires teamwork cooperation and normally hermione telling everyone what to do
00:03:55naturally so for this competition you've been placed into pairs based on your complimentary
00:04:02skills so you ready to get started yes good because it's time for your first challenge
00:04:08each team will be assigned a hogwarts house to use as the inspiration for your first showpiece
00:04:15now there are eight teams but only four houses that means that you'll be facing off in four
00:04:24head-to-head jewels the winning team in each jewel will live to bake another day the losing team
00:04:33could be heading home before the fat lady sings but which houses will you get jenny and alex heather
00:04:42and kate could you step forward oh my goodness so it wouldn't feel right for us to assign you guys a
00:04:50so we asked a special friend to do the honors i think the sorting ceremony is so epic because it's one of the first things that happens when the students get to hogwarts and it's the first thing that's happening to us here in the competition and so it really feels like like our entrance into the harry potter world
00:04:57there's talent oh yes but where to put you
00:05:23so griffindor students are known for their courage bravery and determination so do keep that in mind
00:05:39okay okay but before we head off to the kitchen here are a few rules the show pieces need to include
00:05:45a mouth-watering tasting element and they also need to feature one effect and that has to be inspired
00:05:53by the element that your house is famous for for for Gryffindor that is of course fire
00:06:01yeah yeah and in six hours you're going to bring your creations back here to be judged
00:06:08good luck and i've been waiting ages to say this let the baking begin
00:06:21oh my goodness
00:06:23oh my goodness
00:06:27oh my god
00:06:31this is so cool
00:06:45¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:47¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:49¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:51¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:53¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:55¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:57¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:06:59¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:07:05Ok, ok, ok.
00:07:07¿Cuál es Grifindor? ¿Qué piensas?
00:07:09¡Courage, la pasión!
00:07:11¡We should go with Hagrid!
00:07:13¡Oh, Dios mío!
00:07:15He's with Harry right from the very beginning, isn't he?
00:07:17What scene are we going to use for Hagrid?
00:07:19We should go with, uh, baby Norbert, maybe.
00:07:22He's setting fire to...
00:07:24Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:07:25Setting fire to the beard.
00:07:26Let's go with them.
00:07:27Perfect.
00:07:32Well, you have to be trained up a bit, of course.
00:07:37Yeah?
00:07:38So we've got Hagrid...
00:07:40Uh-huh.
00:07:41Holding baby Norbert...
00:07:42There you go.
00:07:43...with in his oven gloves.
00:07:44Yeah.
00:07:45I'm a chocolatier.
00:07:46Yes.
00:07:47So I think I should be doing the egg, also the chocolate flames.
00:07:49Oh, my God.
00:07:50Are you ready?
00:07:51Are you ready?
00:07:52Let's do this.
00:07:53We've got this.
00:07:54Let's just go.
00:07:56Don't be fooled by her bubbly personality.
00:07:59Self-taught cake artist Jenny is a force to be reckoned with.
00:08:04With an impressive cake resume and a knack for hyper-realism.
00:08:12Hoping to mix up the competition with his chocolatier skills,
00:08:16Chef Alex pairs innovative techniques with flavours that are sure to surprise and excite.
00:08:25I think we both know that we've got some crazy skills.
00:08:27Yeah.
00:08:28Your chocolate work is just phenomenal.
00:08:30What about your cake skills?
00:08:32Hello.
00:08:33Yeah, thank you.
00:08:34I'm not very good at compliments, but okay.
00:08:37Okay, well, the Gryffindor is represented by the lion.
00:08:40Yes.
00:08:41Our showpiece is inspired by the iconic elements of Gryffindor.
00:08:44I think making sort of the lion represent the fire.
00:08:47I love it.
00:08:48And I think we have to include the sword, right?
00:08:50Godric's sword.
00:08:51Yeah.
00:08:52And I always think of, like, Hermione.
00:08:53She's carrying books all the time.
00:08:54When I think of the Gryffindors, I think they're always in their robes and the scarf.
00:09:01We're the newbies.
00:09:02We've got to make a big impact right out of the gate.
00:09:04Right.
00:09:05It's really surreal being here.
00:09:07A little overwhelming.
00:09:08We haven't ever done any of this before, so it's all new for us.
00:09:11Like Kate, I haven't competed in a competition of this magnitude,
00:09:15but we got something up our sleeves.
00:09:18Yes.
00:09:19I will soft this one in the microwave so it is faster.
00:09:24Alex is making our tasting element.
00:09:27He's the king of flavors.
00:09:28And the tasting element will be hidden underneath a chocolate egg.
00:09:33This is my first TV show, so I'm really excited.
00:09:36I wanted to replicate Norbert's egg as real as possible.
00:09:40I'm just spraying some bronze cacao butter so it looks more realistic.
00:09:45For me, chocolate, it's my life.
00:09:47I really love how to create new things and making these weird ideas that I have in my mind.
00:09:54How does it look?
00:09:55That's looking gorgeous.
00:09:56Yeah, right?
00:09:58I'm from Cuernavaca, Morelos.
00:10:00It is a little town next to the capital in Mexico.
00:10:04I am kind of a bohemian.
00:10:06I love writing poetry.
00:10:07I play the guitar.
00:10:08Really?
00:10:09I used to have a band, yeah.
00:10:10I've been playing the horn now for nearly 40 years.
00:10:13Are you kidding me?
00:10:14We should have a band.
00:10:15So, Jenny?
00:10:16Hmm?
00:10:17How big of a fan of Harry Potter are you?
00:10:18I'm actually obsessed.
00:10:19Okay.
00:10:20Obviously, I've read all the books numerous times.
00:10:22Okay.
00:10:23I've seen all the films.
00:10:24Okay.
00:10:25I've listened to the audio books.
00:10:26I have the outfits.
00:10:27I have the wands.
00:10:28We have the costumes.
00:10:29I have the jewellery.
00:10:30Oh, yeah.
00:10:31Oh, yeah.
00:10:32Okay, bakers.
00:10:33So, one house has been allocated.
00:10:34Three to go.
00:10:35Molly and Priya, Angel and Rui, you're next.
00:10:36I don't want to get Slytherin.
00:10:37I'm worried about that.
00:10:38I really don't like snakes.
00:10:39Ah.
00:10:40Right then.
00:10:41Hufflepuff.
00:10:42Hey!
00:10:43Hufflepuffs!
00:10:44Hey!
00:10:45Hufflepuffs!
00:10:46The Hufflepuff house element is earth.
00:10:47So, you need to keep that in mind for your first showpiece.
00:10:48Right, guys, what you're waiting for?
00:10:49Your time's already started.
00:10:50Come on.
00:10:51You've got six hours.
00:10:52Go on, go on.
00:10:53Go on.
00:10:54Go on.
00:10:55Go on.
00:10:56Go on.
00:10:57Go on.
00:10:58Go on.
00:10:59Go on.
00:11:00Go on.
00:11:01Go on.
00:11:02Go on.
00:11:03Go on.
00:11:04Go on.
00:11:05Go on.
00:11:06Go on.
00:11:07Go on.
00:11:08Go on.
00:11:09Go on.
00:11:10Go on.
00:11:11Go on.
00:11:12Go on.
00:11:13Go on.
00:11:14Go on.
00:11:15Go on.
00:11:16Go on.
00:11:17Go on.
00:11:18Go on.
00:11:20Go on.
00:11:21Go on.
00:11:22Wow.
00:11:23Oh, my God.
00:11:24Oh, my God.
00:11:25Wow.
00:11:26Oh, my God.
00:11:27Oh, my gosh.
00:11:28Oh, my gosh.
00:11:29Excited to cook.
00:11:30Hi!
00:11:31I've never been anywhere like this before.
00:11:34This is incredible.
00:11:35Amazing.
00:11:36So?
00:11:37What do you think?
00:11:38So we need to do something that's really big.
00:11:40Yeah.
00:11:41How about if we do a forest scene?
00:11:42A forest?
00:11:43Yeah.
00:11:44I like that, I like the garden, I like the, like, soil.
00:11:47What I am good at is animals.
00:11:48I think that should definitely be carved cake
00:11:50because that kind of is my specialty.
00:11:52So the badger's going to be cake.
00:11:53We need something on the top, like...
00:11:55Why don't we do the greenhouse classroom on top?
00:11:58How do we make it look like glass, though?
00:11:59We could do a little sugar work.
00:12:01The cake is mainly going to have, like, three main focal points.
00:12:05It's going to have the badger, the watering can,
00:12:08and then we've got the Professor Spouts greenhouse on the top
00:12:11because Professor Spouts...
00:12:13A Hufflepuff.
00:12:13We'll have mushrooms and snails
00:12:16and just every element of a perfect enchanted forest scene.
00:12:21I'm also a little bit concerned with the greenhouse on top.
00:12:24Like, we've got to go for it.
00:12:29A renowned master of chocolate, Canada's Priya,
00:12:33arrives onto the scene after earning global recognition
00:12:37for her chocolate artistry.
00:12:39The daughter of a celebrated English comedian and a showgirl,
00:12:45Molly always makes an entrance.
00:12:49She sculpts lifelike cakes that never fail to impress.
00:12:53Molly and Priya are hungry to rewrite the rulebook
00:12:58for all wizards of baking.
00:13:00Oh, hello.
00:13:01We've realized we have similar tastes, similar style.
00:13:05We both run our own businesses.
00:13:07We also are, like, incredibly strong, independent women,
00:13:10and we are here to win.
00:13:12Thank you.
00:13:12Oh, wow.
00:13:14The first thing I'm doing is the greenhouse on the top made of ice
00:13:21malt.
00:13:22I've already set all of my bars to create the shapes
00:13:26for the front, back, sides, and top of the greenhouse.
00:13:29Wow.
00:13:29I honestly think it looks fantastic.
00:13:32Yeah.
00:13:33It is striking, just clear as glass.
00:13:38So I'm putting the pieces together,
00:13:40very carefully warming the edges.
00:13:43OK, and the isomal is cracking.
00:13:52It's so fragile.
00:13:54Priya, no.
00:13:56It's the focal point.
00:13:57It's the top of the piece.
00:13:58Terrifying.
00:14:01Ah.
00:14:04The gazebo has had an accident, but it's OK.
00:14:07We're going to keep going.
00:14:08We'll be fine.
00:14:09Just to get back together on this one.
00:14:13Like, I've got some gaps here.
00:14:15I like the crack.
00:14:16You do?
00:14:17Yeah, we're going to add a vine to it.
00:14:19I'm adding the stained glass to the isomalt.
00:14:22I drew the stained glass design.
00:14:24I'm just going to stick it on with a bit of piping gel.
00:14:27We had a crack in the isomalt,
00:14:29but then we realized the real Professor Sprouts greenhouse
00:14:32has got cracks in it and great big vines growing through it,
00:14:35so we're just making it a design feature.
00:14:37So if anything, it's going to look even better.
00:14:39Look, Priya.
00:14:41Yeah, Molly.
00:14:42So good.
00:14:44I am so ready to do this challenge.
00:14:48Angel is definitely a person with good energy.
00:14:50I can feel your vibes.
00:14:52We have a very different personality,
00:14:54but it's a good compliment.
00:14:57Known as a culinary mad scientist,
00:15:01molecular gastronomy specialist Chef Rui
00:15:04creates edible experiments that dazzle and delight,
00:15:08packed with copious amounts of flavor
00:15:10in every single bite.
00:15:12In every single bite.
00:15:17Chiliborne and Colorado-based Angel is a creative force
00:15:21whose sculpted cakes
00:15:24and clever problem-solving skills are equal parts art and ingenuity.
00:15:32I think I'm a Hufflepuff because I am very connected to the earth.
00:15:41My family loves to go camping.
00:15:43We go fishing and skiing and everything that involves to be outside.
00:15:48Oh, I hate camping.
00:15:50Oh, I hate camping.
00:15:51It's so uncomfortable.
00:15:53There's no mattress, there's no air conditioner, there's no heater.
00:15:58There, it's so uncomfortable.
00:15:59You're so busy.
00:16:00You're so busy.
00:16:01Yeah.
00:16:01Here we have our armature for our garden box.
00:16:05Our element, it's earth.
00:16:06So we really want to make the men's rake.
00:16:10Got it.
00:16:11And now you dunk it down into the other pot
00:16:15and pour a little sprinkling of soil to keep it warm.
00:16:19In our garden box, we're going to have a big mandrake.
00:16:26We're going to have dirt inside made of cocoa crumpled.
00:16:29And then we're going to have three little baby mandrakes.
00:16:32So this is a mandrake.
00:16:33I'm going to be carving this out of cake.
00:16:35And this is the mouth.
00:16:37And it's going to be moving and screaming.
00:16:42Hello.
00:16:43How are you?
00:16:45I have to make sure it's not too heavy
00:16:47so it actually goes up and down.
00:16:49That's why I'm using rice cereal
00:16:51because that's the lightest thing I can use.
00:16:53And modeling chocolate on top.
00:16:57I'm adding these roots to give it a little bit more high.
00:17:01I'm loving him.
00:17:03Beautiful.
00:17:09Jor and Katie.
00:17:11Marge and Sarah.
00:17:13Front and center, please.
00:17:15Oh, boy.
00:17:17So, only two houses left.
00:17:19Slytherin and Ravenclaw.
00:17:21Ha!
00:17:21I know just what to do with you.
00:17:25Slytherin!
00:17:27Yes!
00:17:29Slytherins are known for their pride, ambition, and cunning.
00:17:34Their house element is the suitably slippery substance of water.
00:17:41So, you need to keep that in mind for your creations.
00:17:45Guys, time to slither off to the kitchen.
00:17:47Good luck!
00:17:49Yay!
00:17:49Slytherin!
00:17:50Slytherin!
00:17:52We're very ambitious.
00:17:53We're ready to give everything that we have.
00:17:55We have to win.
00:17:57I want to win, but we have to win.
00:17:58Oh, my God.
00:17:59He just went through the Blue Network.
00:18:00Look, our cranks are over there.
00:18:03I'll try to not freak out.
00:18:06I might cry.
00:18:07¿Qué es lo que ha pasado?
00:18:08¡Oh, mi Dios!
00:18:09¡Oh, mi Dios!
00:18:10¡Oh, mi Dios!
00:18:10¡We just went through the Blue Network!
00:18:12¡Oh, my Dios!
00:18:12¡I'll try to not freak out!
00:18:14¡I might cry!
00:18:15¡I get a little anxious!
00:18:17¡A little bad under pressure!
00:18:19¡So, you know!
00:18:19¡It's okay!
00:18:20¡You'll have me!
00:18:21¡I'll be your personal cheerleader!
00:18:22¡Yeah!
00:18:22¡Oh, yeah!
00:18:23¡We'll be good!
00:18:23¡Hey!
00:18:23¡Hi, guys!
00:18:24¡So, I've competed on five baking shows!
00:18:26¡And I won three!
00:18:28¡I'm so glad you're my teammate!
00:18:29¡Because I've never competed on a TV show before!
00:18:32¡I'm a chocolatier!
00:18:33I've been asked to be on competitions all the time
00:18:35and I'm like, no, I don't do TV, that's not for me.
00:18:38When they were like, it's Harry Potter
00:18:39and I was like, today, I'll go there today.
00:18:43Lucky for us, I'm a 4.0 student
00:18:45and I'm here to win.
00:18:47Can I know a fun fact?
00:18:48Mm-hmm.
00:18:48I was also a 4.0 student.
00:18:53We've got to create something really epic.
00:18:55Could we do, like, Voldemort?
00:18:58Why not?
00:18:59Right.
00:18:59You're all right.
00:19:00So, you know what I'm thinking?
00:19:01So, we have to integrate water
00:19:03Oh, the scene.
00:19:04You know when the water is spinning in it.
00:19:06In the Ministry of Magic?
00:19:07Yes, yeah.
00:19:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:19:22So, we can do, like, a cascading,
00:19:25like, gravity-defying isomal.
00:19:26This is going to be really, really challenging
00:19:30because of the weight.
00:19:31Let's get started.
00:19:33What is something that is so Slytherin,
00:19:37it's unmistakable?
00:19:38So, yeah, we have to use water.
00:19:40When I think water, I think of the Chamber of Secrets.
00:19:42Maybe we'll do, like, a multi-level floor view.
00:19:46Yeah.
00:19:46Like, you start at the top in the hallway of Hogwarts
00:19:49where it's, like, the wall that has the warning
00:19:51of, like, the air beware, right?
00:19:54And then maybe, like, as you go downward,
00:19:56there's the snake door
00:19:58that you have to speak in Parseltongue to open.
00:20:01And then below that, it could be, like, the Chamber of Secrets.
00:20:04It's like the big cavernous crypt.
00:20:06Perfect.
00:20:07Yes.
00:20:08Our showpiece consists of three tiers.
00:20:10The middle tier will have stalagmites and stalactites
00:20:13added on either side of the door.
00:20:15The entrance walkway will be surrounded by water
00:20:17and lead up to a cavern
00:20:19with a huge carving of Salazar Slytherin's face.
00:20:22Emerging from the entrance of the wall
00:20:24is a large basilisk.
00:20:25On the walkway lies the diary of Tom Riddle.
00:20:28Rip it off like a band-aid.
00:20:29Wow.
00:20:30Marge, this has been crazy so far, right?
00:20:32Like, I feel like we just met each other.
00:20:34Yeah, I know.
00:20:34We actually did just meet each other.
00:20:36Now we have to force ourselves to work together
00:20:39with our different styles.
00:20:40I am obsessed with pro wrestling.
00:20:43That is my thing.
00:20:44Going to Comic-Con, and I love cosplay.
00:20:47I'm not really girly, I would say.
00:20:49I've always been a tomboy.
00:20:50People look at me and they always tell me
00:20:52they're so intimidated by me.
00:20:54When I first saw you, I thought maybe she'll hate me.
00:20:57I don't know, but honestly, you're the sweetest person.
00:21:00I think we're pretty polar opposites.
00:21:03When I'm not baking, I love spending time
00:21:05with my two cats at home.
00:21:07I love gardening, everything to do with flowers.
00:21:10Sarah's like a princess, like a...
00:21:12All right, yeah, this is lining up so good.
00:21:18The top tier of our showpiece is made out of dark chocolate
00:21:21that I cast into a silicone mold.
00:21:25I'm just giving it a little hair dry.
00:21:26That looks so cool.
00:21:28I'm doing a lot of cocoa butter spraying
00:21:31to give some dimension.
00:21:32I then go back with a really fine brush
00:21:35and red cocoa butter to hand paint the ominous message.
00:21:38Oh, we're good, we're good.
00:21:39Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
00:21:41I'm a chocolatier.
00:21:42I don't usually work with rice cereal,
00:21:44but this is fun, learning new mediums.
00:21:47This is where the tasting cake is going to go.
00:21:49So build this guy up to here
00:21:50and then leave the spots for cake, okay?
00:21:51Perfect.
00:21:52Okay.
00:21:52And what about yay high for the cake?
00:21:54Very technical.
00:21:55Yay high.
00:21:56Yay high.
00:21:58I am now a cake artist.
00:22:02It is looking a little bit messy right now,
00:22:03but we will save time to clean it up.
00:22:06But it's looking good.
00:22:07Yep.
00:22:11Best for last.
00:22:13Well, with only two teams left
00:22:15and one house to go,
00:22:17any guesses?
00:22:18Ravenclaw.
00:22:19That is right.
00:22:22Oh, no.
00:22:23Angelisa and you and Stefan.
00:22:25Ravenclaws are known for their wit,
00:22:27their wisdom, and their learning.
00:22:29And the house element is air.
00:22:31So, come then.
00:22:32Get cracking.
00:22:33Off your part.
00:22:34Good luck, guys.
00:22:35This switch is very, very clear.
00:22:38That trophy needs to say
00:22:39Caitlyn and Jaleesa.
00:22:40Season 2 winners.
00:22:41I actually have previously competed
00:22:43with Jaleesa before.
00:22:44I did beat her.
00:22:46Seeing if I can do it for a second time.
00:22:54Oh, my God.
00:22:56What?
00:22:58Come on, come on, come on.
00:22:59That's crazy.
00:23:01Whoa, this is our station.
00:23:02Oh, my God.
00:23:02Okay.
00:23:03I think Raven.
00:23:04Raven needs to be, like,
00:23:05the main part of it.
00:23:07Yeah.
00:23:07Because I know you're good
00:23:08with, like, chocolate and stuff like that.
00:23:09You think you could do, like...
00:23:10I could do some chocolate wings.
00:23:11Yeah, like, do some chocolate feathers.
00:23:13Yeah, yeah.
00:23:14If we do, like,
00:23:15maybe, like, an open book,
00:23:16we still have to include,
00:23:17I think, like, a really important part
00:23:18of Ravenclaw
00:23:19that's, like, a part of the movies,
00:23:20the diadem.
00:23:21Then we could maybe create that with sugar.
00:23:23We can kind of set it on,
00:23:24like, a pillow.
00:23:25Could that be my entremé, then?
00:23:26Yeah, so the entremé would be the pillow.
00:23:29I like that.
00:23:30We need to do something
00:23:31really theatrical.
00:23:32It's actually my motto for life
00:23:34is to make it magical.
00:23:35And I try to make it magical every day,
00:23:37and that's whether it's with my desserts,
00:23:39whether it's DJing,
00:23:40whether it is having a gospel night
00:23:42with my amazing wife,
00:23:44who's a powerful singer.
00:23:46What about the wings?
00:23:47That's ambitious.
00:23:48Yeah.
00:23:49I am a cake artist.
00:23:51I definitely had to convince my parents
00:23:52to let me go to culinary school,
00:23:54and they were like,
00:23:55yeah, I mean, as long as, you know,
00:23:56you pay, and then you can go.
00:24:00So, you know, I'm in debt,
00:24:02but we're good.
00:24:03Taking a risk, but...
00:24:03We're doing a little bit more
00:24:04than we need to, but...
00:24:05Yeah, no, I think that's cool.
00:24:06Let's go for it.
00:24:07Honestly, let's go for it.
00:24:09So we have to do air.
00:24:10So something was like, um...
00:24:11What if we did a bird actually flying?
00:24:15Love that.
00:24:15Okay.
00:24:15From Maryland,
00:24:18mom of two, Caitlin,
00:24:20is bringing her enthusiasm
00:24:22and passion for bold cake designs
00:24:24with her into the kitchen.
00:24:27New Jersey mom of two, Jalisa,
00:24:30enters the competition
00:24:31equally determined
00:24:33to take home the trophy.
00:24:35Both of these strong-minded bakers
00:24:37have their eyes focused on the prize.
00:24:41You know, we're both very competitive.
00:24:42I'm very good at what I do.
00:24:45I've won two competitions before.
00:24:48I competed on Spring Bacon Championship,
00:24:50won that.
00:24:51We're not going into this
00:24:52very cocky and big-headed,
00:24:53like, oh, yeah, I'm really good at what...
00:24:54It's like, yes, we're good at what we do,
00:24:56but we're also...
00:24:56We can back it up.
00:24:57Yeah.
00:24:58You know how when they cast a spell,
00:24:59the gust that kind of shows
00:25:00on the outside of the line?
00:25:02I want to somehow try to incorporate,
00:25:03like, some moves.
00:25:04So should we do, like,
00:25:05Wingardium Leviosa?
00:25:06Yes, yes.
00:25:07Like Hermione,
00:25:08the way she's, like,
00:25:08trying to pronounce it.
00:25:09It's Leviosa,
00:25:11not Leviosa.
00:25:13You do it, then,
00:25:14if you're so clever.
00:25:16Go on, go on.
00:25:17Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:18Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:19Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:22Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:26What if one of the books is open
00:25:27and that's where the magic comes out?
00:25:28And that's how the ghost comes out.
00:25:29I like that.
00:25:30Okay, okay, so we're doing a table and books.
00:25:32Our tasting element
00:25:33will be inside of the books.
00:25:34Also, we're going to have
00:25:36a homework scroll that says
00:25:37the Wingardium Leviosa spell.
00:25:39And then the raven on top
00:25:40is our showstopper.
00:25:42Woo!
00:25:43I had no idea how competitive I was,
00:25:45until I started competing.
00:25:46I just thought, like,
00:25:47oh, it's a friendly competition.
00:25:49I'm going to, like, try my best.
00:25:50I'm like, yeah.
00:25:51And then it was like,
00:25:51no, I'm elbowing people
00:25:52and I'm a track star
00:25:53and I will run to grab what I want
00:25:54and I will take the last one
00:25:55and not care
00:25:56because I want to win.
00:25:57The whole point of a competition
00:25:57is to win.
00:26:06Oh!
00:26:07Oh, wow!
00:26:08Oh, my God!
00:26:09Isn't the Flume Network amazing?
00:26:10Woo!
00:26:11Oh, my God!
00:26:12Woo!
00:26:12So, remember, teams,
00:26:14you all began 30 minutes apart.
00:26:17So, some of you will finish before others.
00:26:20Oh.
00:26:21Gryffindor, teams,
00:26:22you started first.
00:26:23So, you'll be the first to step up
00:26:25and present to the judges.
00:26:27Okay.
00:26:27Yeah.
00:26:28Hufflepuff, teams,
00:26:29you will present yours 30 minutes later.
00:26:31Slytherin will be next.
00:26:33And then, finally,
00:26:34Ravenclaw.
00:26:35Woo!
00:26:35Awesome!
00:26:39Looking good?
00:26:40That looks really good.
00:26:41Start adding the dry and the...
00:26:43So, for my bit,
00:26:45when I make baby Norbert,
00:26:47I've got this really cool technique.
00:26:49I'm thinking,
00:26:49I'm going to make his wings,
00:26:50but I'm going to make them
00:26:52out of edible skin.
00:26:53What I'm going to be doing
00:26:54is painting an underlayer
00:26:56of these wafer paper sheets.
00:26:58So, I'm just giving this
00:26:59a base coat of gelatin.
00:27:01And then, when this gelatin dries,
00:27:03it's going to look like skin.
00:27:05So, what I will do
00:27:06is sandwich his fingers
00:27:07inside two layers of paper.
00:27:10And then, what that's going to do
00:27:11is give the wing structure
00:27:13so it'll look like the bone
00:27:14underneath the skin.
00:27:15And I'll be airbrushing it
00:27:16and dusting it
00:27:17and making it look
00:27:18even more realistic.
00:27:20Ooh!
00:27:22It feels good to be cooking.
00:27:23For the tasting element,
00:27:24we'll be making a buttermilk cake
00:27:26with a rhubarb
00:27:26and blood orange compote filling.
00:27:28And it will be right behind the eyes
00:27:30in the lion's forehead.
00:27:31So, I have our blood orange puree.
00:27:33I'm going to combine that
00:27:34with a little sugar,
00:27:35our rhubarb,
00:27:36cook that down in a compote.
00:27:38I'm going a little bit savory
00:27:39with my rhubarb,
00:27:41so there could be
00:27:42a little bit
00:27:42of an error in balance
00:27:45between that salty
00:27:46and that sweet.
00:27:47You know, I get in my head
00:27:48and I get really, you know,
00:27:49I'm nervous
00:27:49and I'm like,
00:27:50what am I doing?
00:27:51It's intimidating.
00:27:52I mean,
00:27:52the whole thing is terrifying.
00:27:53I live in Nashville, Tennessee
00:27:56and I'm the executive
00:27:57feaster chef at a hotel.
00:28:00I'm a little bit whimsical.
00:28:02I like to have fun.
00:28:03I'm a little bit cheeky.
00:28:05So, I think that that
00:28:06translates into my desserts.
00:28:09I'm from Michigan.
00:28:10Detroit Lions.
00:28:12Love.
00:28:13I have owned my own bakery
00:28:14for 12 years
00:28:15and we always did
00:28:16these really big window displays.
00:28:18It took me a long time
00:28:20to find my own stride
00:28:21and in my 40s now,
00:28:23it's time.
00:28:25Look out, world.
00:28:26I am going to
00:28:28probably work on the lion now.
00:28:30Okay.
00:28:31All right.
00:28:32Let's get it going.
00:28:34Now I'm starting
00:28:35to shape the main
00:28:36so we can give it
00:28:37a lot of power
00:28:39and strength
00:28:39like Gryffindor House
00:28:41deserves.
00:28:42I think it looks
00:28:43really good.
00:28:45You're really fast at this.
00:28:46I'm so happy with it.
00:28:48Bigger is better
00:28:49and more is more.
00:28:50Absolutely.
00:28:52We're back for chapter two.
00:28:54Back in our lovely kitchen.
00:28:5516 bakers
00:28:57at once
00:28:57in the kitchen
00:28:58all working
00:28:59really, really hard.
00:29:00How exciting is that?
00:29:01I know.
00:29:02Over the course
00:29:02of this season
00:29:03we're going to see
00:29:04challenges which
00:29:05are tougher than before.
00:29:07We're going to push
00:29:07these bakers
00:29:08as far as they
00:29:09can possibly go.
00:29:10I can't wait
00:29:10to see what the judges
00:29:11think of it.
00:29:12So, I know
00:29:12what I've noticed.
00:29:14There's a tribute
00:29:15to a lot of
00:29:17different characters
00:29:18in here including
00:29:18Goblet of Fire's
00:29:20very own Cedric Diggory.
00:29:21Yes.
00:29:22Where's our tribute?
00:29:23Yeah.
00:29:24Have we just got to
00:29:25stand in a plinth?
00:29:26We didn't get a shirt.
00:29:27We'll do this.
00:29:30You're good like that.
00:29:31I'll take over, Shai.
00:29:32Katelyn, Jaleesa.
00:29:36Hello.
00:29:36Hello.
00:29:37How are you today?
00:29:38It's definitely
00:29:38like hyperspeed
00:29:39that we're working in
00:29:40but...
00:29:41So, what are you doing
00:29:41right now then, Katelyn?
00:29:42So, the bottom
00:29:44of our showpiece
00:29:44is a desk
00:29:45so I am marbling
00:29:46fondant
00:29:47basically three
00:29:48different colours
00:29:49and what that does
00:29:50is like it makes
00:29:51woodgrain striations
00:29:52so then when I put
00:29:53it through the sheeter
00:29:53it looks like this.
00:29:55That's hoist?
00:29:55Yeah.
00:29:56That's this.
00:29:57Wow.
00:29:58Which one of you girls
00:29:59is the biggest Potter fan.
00:30:00That's definitely Katelyn.
00:30:02I almost burst into tears
00:30:04when I walked
00:30:04into the Great Hall.
00:30:05I've been a fan
00:30:06since I was like 11
00:30:07so it feels like
00:30:08I kind of grew up
00:30:08with all of you guys
00:30:09really.
00:30:10I can like quote the movie
00:30:12and like do the voices
00:30:13and everything.
00:30:14The voices?
00:30:14Come on, do a voice.
00:30:15Where have you been?
00:30:17That was really good.
00:30:18That was Katelyn.
00:30:19Where have you been?
00:30:23That was Katelyn.
00:30:24Guys, we'll leave you to it.
00:30:25Thank you.
00:30:26All the best season.
00:30:29I'm making the Yuzu sponge
00:30:32so we wanted it to be
00:30:34the Hufflepuff color
00:30:35of yellow and black
00:30:36so we've got the yellow
00:30:36of the sponge
00:30:37and then I'm making
00:30:38a black sesame buttercream
00:30:40and that's going to add
00:30:41like a really nutty
00:30:42like earthy kind of flavor.
00:30:44See, it's got multiple ends
00:30:46and it's really giving me
00:30:47that sugar threadiness.
00:30:49I'll be doing a sesame
00:30:50nougatine as well
00:30:51and that's going to add
00:30:52a little bit of crunch texture
00:30:53and color to our cake.
00:30:55This build is bigger
00:30:57and has more components
00:30:59than anything
00:30:59I've ever done before.
00:31:00It really needs
00:31:02to be a team effort.
00:31:03I've just got to be
00:31:04positive.
00:31:08I have some cichuron buttons.
00:31:11Cichuron buttons
00:31:11are a kind of type of spice.
00:31:14It will be part
00:31:15of the rosemary
00:31:16and cichuron button
00:31:17tasting almond.
00:31:19So I'm freezing
00:31:19with liquid nitrogen.
00:31:21So cichuron buttons,
00:31:22they have this activated
00:31:23molecule
00:31:24which is called
00:31:25hydroxyl alpha sensual
00:31:26and it works.
00:31:30My expertise
00:31:31is molecular gastronomy.
00:31:33I really have to use
00:31:33the goggles.
00:31:34I'm a chef,
00:31:35food designer and professor
00:31:36at two universities
00:31:37and three different schools.
00:31:38In Portugal, Lisbon,
00:31:40I'm really trying
00:31:40to make my name
00:31:41as a mark
00:31:41and as a stamp
00:31:42for Portuguese gastronomy.
00:31:46Beautiful, that's it.
00:31:48Oh, I got the best partner.
00:31:49So the cichuron,
00:31:52it's something really nice
00:31:53because it gives you
00:31:53a dynamic effect.
00:31:55It's going to feel like
00:31:56you're having electrical impulses
00:31:58in your tongue.
00:32:01Are you sure?
00:32:01Sure, trust me.
00:32:07Oh my gosh!
00:32:09I can't see my tongue now.
00:32:11What?
00:32:12Be careful.
00:32:13Try one each.
00:32:14They should probably
00:32:15sign something before.
00:32:16So we've got something
00:32:18which makes your
00:32:19tongue go to sleep.
00:32:21You're going to feel
00:32:21like electric.
00:32:22You're going to feel
00:32:23like electric sensation
00:32:24on your tongue.
00:32:26Okay, so I'm feeling like
00:32:27if you were to get
00:32:28a car battery and lick it,
00:32:29that's probably
00:32:30the best way
00:32:30I could describe it.
00:32:31I have never had
00:32:32anything like this before.
00:32:33It's magic.
00:32:34In my lungs.
00:32:35The molecules,
00:32:36everything, yeah.
00:32:38Hey Uncle!
00:32:38See you later, guys.
00:32:40I'll let you know
00:32:40if you're starting
00:32:41salivating too much.
00:32:42We're like starting
00:32:46the tasting element stuff.
00:32:48My instant thought
00:32:48is make matcha cake, right?
00:32:51It's green,
00:32:52obviously represents
00:32:53Slytherin.
00:32:54So I'm doing
00:32:55the lime curd right now
00:32:56and I'm also going to
00:32:57scale out the white
00:32:57chocolate whipped ganache.
00:32:59I'm not the biggest fan
00:33:00of matcha.
00:33:00Do you like matcha?
00:33:01I love matcha.
00:33:02That's why it was
00:33:02my first thought.
00:33:03I mean, we could have
00:33:04done pistachio cake,
00:33:05but...
00:33:06Right.
00:33:07Matcha is a flavor
00:33:08that can go very bitter
00:33:10very quickly
00:33:10and we don't want it
00:33:11to be too earthy.
00:33:13We just want to show
00:33:13a little bit of that
00:33:14bitterness to then
00:33:15get balanced
00:33:16with the lime.
00:33:18Right now,
00:33:19oh my God,
00:33:19now I'm throwing
00:33:20myself off.
00:33:22Oh God.
00:33:23What?
00:33:24Hey.
00:33:24Now I'm like,
00:33:25did I put six in here?
00:33:27Aw.
00:33:30So basically,
00:33:31I am building
00:33:32the cake right here.
00:33:33So for our Slytherin
00:33:34tasting element,
00:33:35we are creating
00:33:36the heart of dark magic.
00:33:38It's going to be
00:33:38a cardamom cake
00:33:39and then I'm going
00:33:40to add a cardamom
00:33:42Swiss meringue buttercream,
00:33:43a orange curd
00:33:45to add some tartness,
00:33:46some roasted salted
00:33:48pistachios,
00:33:49and it's going to be
00:33:49topped off with
00:33:51some candied orange peel.
00:33:53Cardamom is a really
00:33:54popular flavor
00:33:55in my Indian culture.
00:33:57It's known for being
00:33:58really herbaceous.
00:34:00You know,
00:34:00it has some human powers
00:34:02and it's kind of magical
00:34:03and mysterious.
00:34:04I really want to win
00:34:05because I want to show
00:34:07the younger me
00:34:07that, you know,
00:34:08you did it.
00:34:09Growing up,
00:34:09when I used to watch
00:34:10all these cooking
00:34:10and baking shows,
00:34:11I never saw someone
00:34:12like me.
00:34:13So I really want
00:34:14to inspire everyone
00:34:15who's watching,
00:34:16who looks like me maybe,
00:34:18to follow their dream.
00:34:19See ya.
00:34:21Oh my gosh,
00:34:22that's so good.
00:34:23Snack time.
00:34:24Everybody get snacks.
00:34:28Hailing from Clermont,
00:34:29Florida,
00:34:30master chocolatier,
00:34:32Katie,
00:34:32is hyper-competitive
00:34:34and uses her knowledge
00:34:35and book smarts
00:34:36to always be top of the class.
00:34:42A fierce competitor,
00:34:44Jujar,
00:34:45is Canada's luminary
00:34:46of achievement.
00:34:47His fearless creativity
00:34:49and bold flavors
00:34:50in baking
00:34:51have enabled his rise
00:34:53to international prominence.
00:34:57I'm so glad you're my teammate
00:34:58because we're both
00:34:59really, really driven
00:35:00and ambitious.
00:35:01We're going up
00:35:04the best of the best
00:35:05and we want to be
00:35:05the best of the best.
00:35:07You know what?
00:35:08What?
00:35:09We're on schedule.
00:35:10Really good.
00:35:11That looks delicious.
00:35:15Sponges going in,
00:35:16whipped ganache is going in,
00:35:17we're good, okay?
00:35:18Yeah, nice.
00:35:19So because I'm
00:35:19the pastry expert
00:35:20of the team,
00:35:21I am doing
00:35:21a stunning layered entremé
00:35:23and what's that going to be
00:35:24is multiple layers
00:35:25of textures and flavors.
00:35:27Starting with a crunchy base
00:35:28with protein milk chocolate,
00:35:30then we've got
00:35:30a milk chocolate custard
00:35:31an incredible caramel sponge.
00:35:33We then have
00:35:34the most amazing
00:35:35chewy caramel,
00:35:36some crunchy pearls
00:35:37of chocolate
00:35:37and finally a whipped ganache
00:35:39which is what I'm making now
00:35:40and that's going to be
00:35:41a pillow for the diadem
00:35:42to sit on top.
00:35:43I've got my whipped ganache,
00:35:45I'm going to pipe that in.
00:35:46We're then going to
00:35:46paint in all the detail
00:35:47to make sure the mold
00:35:48catches all of that detail
00:35:49and then I've got
00:35:50my amazing layers
00:35:52to go inside the cake.
00:35:53We've selected a mold
00:35:54which is shaped
00:35:54just like this amazing pillow
00:35:56and it's just the perfect
00:35:57platform to present the diadem.
00:35:59I grew up with cooking
00:36:01and food in my family.
00:36:02My grandmother
00:36:03was a celebrated chef
00:36:04and cookery author
00:36:05so going into pastry
00:36:07was natural for me.
00:36:08It's exciting to be here
00:36:09representing sort of
00:36:11the family culinary spirit.
00:36:13Oh yeah,
00:36:14we're going to make
00:36:15the Potterheads proud.
00:36:17Buttoned up
00:36:17executive pastry chef
00:36:19Stefan looks after
00:36:20all the desserts
00:36:21at an exquisite
00:36:23English Yorkshire
00:36:24five-star hotel.
00:36:25His joyful, upbeat persona
00:36:28is reflected in
00:36:29everything he bakes.
00:36:32Arriving from New York,
00:36:33Andy is a creative
00:36:35whirlwind of imagination.
00:36:37He balances all his skills
00:36:38to deliver captivating
00:36:40creations.
00:36:42Will magic happen
00:36:43when their worlds collide?
00:36:46I think that, you know,
00:36:48two different sides
00:36:48of the world
00:36:50come together
00:36:50and make some cool stuff.
00:36:52You know,
00:36:52New Yorkshire.
00:36:53Our biggest risk
00:36:58from a construction
00:36:59standpoint
00:37:00is gravity.
00:37:01It's not
00:37:02cake's friend.
00:37:03Before my very eyes,
00:37:05pieces of the lion's head
00:37:06are falling off.
00:37:08Ooh,
00:37:08this is a mess.
00:37:10I'm going to just have
00:37:11to be a lot more careful.
00:37:13It's a big problem.
00:37:15I mean,
00:37:15it's the focal point.
00:37:16It's got to be perfection.
00:37:18Gryffindor teams,
00:37:19three hours gone.
00:37:20You are halfway
00:37:21through your beak.
00:37:22Wait, what?
00:37:23Oh, my God.
00:37:27I'm hoping
00:37:28with the amount
00:37:28of time we have left
00:37:29that it's saveable.
00:37:31So we're going to get
00:37:32to it and see
00:37:33what can happen.
00:37:34I used much more chocolate
00:37:36than it was expected,
00:37:37but the chocolate
00:37:38is doing its job
00:37:39and it's holding
00:37:40the rice cereal
00:37:40in its place.
00:37:41We haven't given up yet.
00:37:43We got time to rally.
00:37:45We're trying to blend
00:37:46that tall, skinny,
00:37:47tasting piece
00:37:48that we have
00:37:49into the face,
00:37:50so almost like
00:37:51a little frame.
00:37:52And we're just wanting
00:37:53to make sure
00:37:54that this all stays
00:37:55in its place.
00:37:57I'll definitely be trimming
00:37:58some of this away,
00:38:00but we just need to fill
00:38:01in those little gaps
00:38:02for now.
00:38:03We don't want our lion
00:38:04having a double chin.
00:38:05We're covering the face
00:38:08and fondant,
00:38:09so it can be nice
00:38:10and rigid and solid.
00:38:12So happy with it.
00:38:13I couldn't be happier
00:38:13at the moment.
00:38:15Oh, she pretty.
00:38:17I just need one more egg.
00:38:19For our tasting element,
00:38:21we really wanted the flavor
00:38:22to encompass Ravenclaw.
00:38:24What do you do
00:38:25when you study?
00:38:25You have a nice hot cup of tea.
00:38:27But also,
00:38:27we kind of wanted that
00:38:28to reflect Professor Trelawney
00:38:30because she does
00:38:31the tea leaf readings.
00:38:32So we are going
00:38:33for a London Fog-inspired cake.
00:38:34It'll be an Earl Grey cake
00:38:35with a Earl Grey milk soak
00:38:37that has a blueberry
00:38:39lavender jam
00:38:39with a vanilla
00:38:40and honey smithering
00:38:41buttercream.
00:38:42Dressed up as books.
00:38:43So I'm all about
00:38:44natural flavors.
00:38:45This is right up my alley
00:38:46for making a London Fog cake.
00:38:47So instead of using
00:38:48some weird, like, extract,
00:38:50I'm just going to put
00:38:50Earl Grey tea leaves
00:38:51and make the natural flavor
00:38:52in my cake.
00:38:53This smells so good, Jalisa.
00:38:55So once the cakes
00:38:56are out of the oven,
00:38:57I apply the milk soak
00:38:57while it's still warm.
00:38:59So this kind of helps
00:38:59reintroduce the Earl Grey flavor
00:39:01and also a little bit
00:39:02of sweetness.
00:39:03So the hole in the center
00:39:04is to fit through
00:39:05my armature in the bottom
00:39:06where the books
00:39:07are going to sit.
00:39:08So it's got to make
00:39:09a little hole for it
00:39:10so it can sit perfectly inside.
00:39:13Do you want to try the cake?
00:39:15Give me that.
00:39:18I definitely feel confident
00:39:20in us going far
00:39:21in this competition
00:39:22and winning.
00:39:23Oh, we're winning.
00:39:24Hold my butterbeer.
00:39:27We love Stefan and Andy,
00:39:29but they got to go.
00:39:32Jenny, it's Alex.
00:39:34Hey.
00:39:34Hello.
00:39:35What does it feel like
00:39:36to be in this kitchen
00:39:37in this competition
00:39:38right now?
00:39:39My mind is blown.
00:39:40I'm very warm.
00:39:41Yeah?
00:39:41But it's a bonkers experience,
00:39:42isn't it?
00:39:43Jenny, have you done this
00:39:43before then?
00:39:44I've done a show before.
00:39:45Do you remember
00:39:46last year's winner, Zoe?
00:39:47Yes.
00:39:47So I was on a show with her.
00:39:48Right, okay, yeah.
00:39:49Okay, okay.
00:39:50So it's her fault I'm here.
00:39:51She said to me,
00:39:53enjoy the ride.
00:39:54Okay.
00:39:55You're going to be shattered.
00:39:56No question.
00:39:57No question.
00:39:58And what about
00:39:59other competitions?
00:40:00Well, yes,
00:40:00we have something in the UK
00:40:01called Cake International
00:40:03and I may have won that
00:40:05in 2022
00:40:06and then I was voted
00:40:07as the number one cake artist
00:40:09in the UK in 2023.
00:40:11So you're pretty good,
00:40:11that's what I'm guessing then.
00:40:12No, I'm not bad.
00:40:13I'm British,
00:40:13we don't brag.
00:40:14Yeah, exactly, yeah.
00:40:16Is this the first type
00:40:17of bake that you've got
00:40:19to bake a dragon
00:40:19or anything like that?
00:40:20For me it is.
00:40:21Yeah.
00:40:21So I'm a bit nervous
00:40:22to be honest.
00:40:23Yeah.
00:40:23So what are you doing
00:40:24to push yourselves?
00:40:25I just think we've got
00:40:25a winning concept.
00:40:27I think we've got
00:40:27a cracking idea,
00:40:29we've got some stupid
00:40:29sort of techniques
00:40:30that we're using,
00:40:31you know, for goodness sake,
00:40:32edible skin.
00:40:33We're making also
00:40:34a really super shiny
00:40:36Norbert's chocolate egg.
00:40:38Also some sugar rocks
00:40:40and you will see
00:40:41we have quite things
00:40:42going on here.
00:40:43I mean, his tasting element
00:40:44down the bottom
00:40:45with the egg
00:40:45is just bananas.
00:40:47It's not really bananas
00:40:48but you know what I mean.
00:40:49So what are you doing now?
00:40:51So we are smoking
00:40:52the whipped cream.
00:40:53This is a smoke gun.
00:40:55I'm using walnut chips.
00:40:56Walnut chips, right?
00:40:57Yeah, yeah.
00:40:58Oh, it is smoky.
00:40:59It is smoky, yeah.
00:41:00There you go.
00:41:01So it is coming inside.
00:41:02Smells like bonfire night.
00:41:03Yeah.
00:41:04I mean, it sounds very unique.
00:41:06Bye, boys.
00:41:07See you later.
00:41:07We are planning on making
00:41:09a small hazelnut nus
00:41:10with a passion fruit cremeux.
00:41:12I'm just putting
00:41:13the passion fruit cremeux
00:41:15on top of the hazelnut cake
00:41:17and I'm going to cover it
00:41:19with a narrow blaze.
00:41:21Oh, so the glaze is looking great.
00:41:22It's perfect.
00:41:23It's really shiny.
00:41:26Cool.
00:41:27Done.
00:41:28We are creating
00:41:29little baby mandrakes.
00:41:31I will trim all the layers
00:41:32for building up the intimate
00:41:34and I will start assembling
00:41:35together with the mousse
00:41:36and then I'm going
00:41:37to dip in chocolate.
00:41:39I'm making the belly
00:41:40of the baby mandrakes.
00:41:41They're chubby.
00:41:42They are.
00:41:43Although I do feel like
00:41:44they're always kind of angry.
00:41:47Big nose.
00:41:48It's going to be so whimsical.
00:41:50I'm now becoming
00:41:51a makeup artist.
00:41:55Molly, Priya.
00:41:56Hi.
00:41:56Hi.
00:41:57First time working as a team.
00:41:58How's it going?
00:41:59Yeah, it's going great.
00:42:00I love having a party.
00:42:01I'm used to working
00:42:02on my own
00:42:02so this is nice.
00:42:03What is all that cake for?
00:42:05This is the badger.
00:42:06Roughly probably
00:42:07a life-size badger.
00:42:08They are quite big.
00:42:10How many badgers
00:42:10do you carve
00:42:11on average weekly?
00:42:12Not loads
00:42:14but I have done them before.
00:42:15What context was that?
00:42:16Because I can't imagine
00:42:16there being that many.
00:42:18I think it was
00:42:19a plumbing company
00:42:20that were called
00:42:20badger plumbing.
00:42:22That's awesome.
00:42:23I've had my bakery
00:42:25for three years
00:42:26and it's very pink.
00:42:28It's very fun.
00:42:29It's like
00:42:29if a unicorn
00:42:30went into a bakery
00:42:31that's what
00:42:32I would have.
00:42:33Molly, I've got to ask
00:42:34are you a quick carver
00:42:35like this normally
00:42:35or...?
00:42:36Yeah.
00:42:36Not quite as sweaty
00:42:37and stressed
00:42:38but yeah.
00:42:40All the best.
00:42:40We'll see you soon.
00:42:41Thank you.
00:42:43Right now
00:42:43I'm unmolding
00:42:44the basilisk head
00:42:46that I cast
00:42:47out of chocolate.
00:42:49Oh!
00:42:50Okay!
00:42:50Look at that.
00:42:51That's perfect.
00:42:52That's beautiful.
00:42:52Okay, so now
00:42:53I have a base
00:42:54so I'm going to make
00:42:54the body
00:42:54and attach it
00:42:55to the head
00:42:56and build off of that.
00:42:59Now I'm
00:42:59an official dentist.
00:43:03Okay,
00:43:04I feel a lot better
00:43:06now that that's done.
00:43:07That's awesome.
00:43:08Perfect.
00:43:08Perfect.
00:43:08Perfect.
00:43:09Perfect.
00:43:09I am an assistant pastry chef.
00:43:13I specialize
00:43:15in doing a lot
00:43:16of chocolate
00:43:17and sugar work.
00:43:19My wheelhouse
00:43:20is artistry,
00:43:21honestly.
00:43:22I'm a cake artist
00:43:23but I've always drawn
00:43:25and sculpted.
00:43:26Our love for pastry
00:43:28and artistry
00:43:29in general
00:43:30really connects us.
00:43:32I feel like
00:43:33all of us here
00:43:33are artists
00:43:34and our art
00:43:35is edible.
00:43:36I like that.
00:43:38With Voldemort
00:43:39cloak
00:43:39to make it dramatic
00:43:40and we want
00:43:41really impressive judges.
00:43:42You know,
00:43:42I want this to look
00:43:43really organic
00:43:44and I want
00:43:44the entire cloak
00:43:45all moving
00:43:46in one direction
00:43:47and Voldemort's cloak
00:43:48will be airbrushed
00:43:49in an emerald green
00:43:50color.
00:43:52I got to add
00:43:53some shine,
00:43:54I got to add
00:43:54some highlights.
00:43:55That's really
00:43:56going to bring
00:43:57this piece to life.
00:43:58Stunning.
00:43:59It's perfect.
00:44:01Caitlin, look.
00:44:02Look, Voldemort.
00:44:04That's cool, dude.
00:44:05I look so good.
00:44:07Hi, Caitlin.
00:44:08How are you?
00:44:08Love you.
00:44:11I am painting
00:44:13some blue wafer paper
00:44:15black with glycerin
00:44:16and gel color.
00:44:17It's going to soften it
00:44:18and I'll be able to cut
00:44:18all of my feathers
00:44:19for the raven out.
00:44:21I'm going to do
00:44:21individual feathers.
00:44:23I honestly didn't think
00:44:24this would take this long
00:44:26so I'm a little behind.
00:44:28I did not want to be
00:44:29still doing this
00:44:29at this point
00:44:30but here we are.
00:44:31The most important part
00:44:32of our showpiece
00:44:33is our mascot
00:44:34and because Caitlin
00:44:35has such strength
00:44:36in hyper-realism
00:44:37she's definitely
00:44:38going to take lead
00:44:39on that.
00:44:40These are sticking together.
00:44:42Huh?
00:44:42These are sticking together.
00:44:44My feathers
00:44:45completely didn't work.
00:44:47I don't know
00:44:47if I added too much
00:44:48glycerin
00:44:49or the water
00:44:50completely dissolved it
00:44:51but they're so flimsy
00:44:53it falls apart
00:44:54and the other ones
00:44:55are sticking to the tray
00:44:56so okay
00:44:57this is definitely
00:44:58not how I thought today.
00:45:00It was going to be
00:45:00untumbled real quick.
00:45:03I wasted an hour
00:45:04for no reason
00:45:04and now I don't know
00:45:05what to do.
00:45:06It really sucks.
00:45:10These are sticking together.
00:45:12Huh?
00:45:12These are sticking together.
00:45:13My feathers
00:45:16completely didn't work.
00:45:17Okay
00:45:17full pivot
00:45:18I'm just going to have
00:45:19to do white
00:45:19and airbrush it.
00:45:20I mean it's not going
00:45:21to be black black
00:45:22but it'll be
00:45:22black enough.
00:45:23Yeah.
00:45:24So I have to fix
00:45:25my feathers.
00:45:26I'm just going to cut
00:45:27all the feathers
00:45:27and individually
00:45:28airbrush them.
00:45:29The airbrushing's working.
00:45:31Okay
00:45:31now it looks good.
00:45:32This is the last thing
00:45:33I wanted to do.
00:45:34Before I was cool
00:45:35as a cucumber
00:45:36but now I am having
00:45:38full crash out moment.
00:45:39I am feeling behind
00:45:41but as soon as I can
00:45:42get these feathers
00:45:42on this last wig
00:45:43I can start moving
00:45:45rather quickly.
00:45:46You know
00:45:46famous last words.
00:45:48Julie so we cannot
00:45:48go home.
00:45:49You know we're not
00:45:50going home.
00:45:52So now I'm starting
00:45:53to build the body
00:45:54of my raven
00:45:55so I just want to
00:45:56get the body set
00:45:57and covered in ganache
00:45:58so that I can
00:45:59start sculpting it.
00:46:01I do want to spend
00:46:03a lot of time
00:46:03on making sure
00:46:04this raven looks
00:46:05100%.
00:46:06I'm using
00:46:07modeling chocolate
00:46:08just to model
00:46:09the beak
00:46:10the eyes
00:46:10and get all that
00:46:11feather work
00:46:12in the face area.
00:46:13I think I'm on
00:46:15the right track.
00:46:16To create these
00:46:17feathers
00:46:18I'm taking tempered
00:46:19chocolate
00:46:19we have hundreds
00:46:20of feathers to make
00:46:21and then to stick
00:46:22onto the wings
00:46:23and we're kind of
00:46:23getting to a stage
00:46:24where we're a little
00:46:25bit worried
00:46:25we can actually
00:46:26do it.
00:46:28And I need to start
00:46:29working on Hagrid.
00:46:30This is black
00:46:30modeling paste.
00:46:32This is where I'm
00:46:32going to be attaching
00:46:33all the sparkly lights
00:46:34where Norbert
00:46:35fires his burp
00:46:36at his beard.
00:46:38I'm going to do
00:46:38his face up the top
00:46:39but just his nose
00:46:41and his goggles
00:46:42a really big bushy beard
00:46:43it's actually
00:46:44edible corn silk
00:46:45I'm quite happy actually
00:46:47Oh that's perfect
00:46:48So I'm going to add
00:46:51some more detail
00:46:52I love it
00:46:53Our showpiece
00:46:54was really a celebration
00:46:56of earth
00:46:56and growth
00:46:57and so we'll have
00:46:58mushrooms
00:46:59and snails
00:47:00and slugs
00:47:01Oh I love those guys
00:47:02Cute
00:47:04So cute
00:47:05I'm making the snails
00:47:07made from textured
00:47:08fondant and modeling
00:47:09paste
00:47:09I'm really obsessed
00:47:10with color
00:47:10and making sure
00:47:12things visually
00:47:13look balanced
00:47:13Woo
00:47:14Great
00:47:15Ravenclaw teams
00:47:18you still have
00:47:18two hours to go
00:47:20Slytherin teams
00:47:21there's 90 minutes
00:47:23left in the
00:47:24Slytherin duel
00:47:24Ah!
00:47:26Ow!
00:47:26Wow
00:47:27We're going to hustle
00:47:28I have to pour
00:47:30this boiling hot
00:47:31isomalt onto
00:47:32the spiral
00:47:33Here we go
00:47:34Water is our
00:47:36magical element
00:47:36so this is a
00:47:37cascading swirl
00:47:38going upwards
00:47:39looking like water
00:47:40And I'll use
00:47:41a couple mediums
00:47:41of isomalt
00:47:42some pulled
00:47:43some ribboning
00:47:44and then some
00:47:44spun sugar
00:47:45It's a little
00:47:46dangerous truthfully
00:47:47We haven't tested it
00:47:48We don't know
00:47:49I've never poured
00:47:49spiral isomalt
00:47:51It's kind of insane
00:47:52yeah because this
00:47:53whole showpiece
00:47:54can just all fall apart
00:47:55Looks good
00:47:56Like it looks like
00:47:57water
00:47:57Okay
00:47:58Stefan, Andy
00:48:01How are you guys
00:48:01finding working together?
00:48:02So far it's been
00:48:03awesome working with
00:48:04Andy and we're
00:48:04having fun
00:48:05How much of a
00:48:06Potter fan are you
00:48:07then Stefan?
00:48:07Well yeah I love
00:48:08the Harry Potter movies
00:48:09but I've got an
00:48:10interesting connection
00:48:10We actually shared a
00:48:12scene together
00:48:12in the first movie
00:48:13Yeah
00:48:13I was stood in the
00:48:15background yeah
00:48:15and they recruited
00:48:16the extras from the
00:48:17locals from the area
00:48:18Our job is to make
00:48:20sure that you
00:48:21don't get bloodied up
00:48:22too bad
00:48:22Can't make any
00:48:23promises of course
00:48:24That scene was actually
00:48:25the first scene
00:48:26that we had dialogue
00:48:26Oh seriously?
00:48:28Oh wow that's your
00:48:28first dialogue scene
00:48:29Yeah that scene
00:48:29What scene were you in
00:48:30Harry Potter?
00:48:31Um
00:48:31Oh you know
00:48:32Because everyone
00:48:33at this table has been
00:48:34you see so
00:48:35But at least you can say
00:48:36you filmed in the
00:48:36Great Hall now
00:48:37Right?
00:48:37Exactly
00:48:37Don't like that
00:48:44I am freaking out
00:48:46because I've lost all
00:48:47this time with the
00:48:47feathers and now I am
00:48:49completely hand sculpting
00:48:50the body of this raven
00:48:51I grab my black
00:48:52modeling chocolate
00:48:53I just kind of like
00:48:54lump it on
00:48:55I don't care
00:48:56I don't care
00:48:57And I'm basically
00:48:58just going triple time
00:48:59slashing away at the
00:49:01body and the head
00:49:03and making these
00:49:03little striations
00:49:04to make it look like
00:49:05it's got its fur
00:49:06and its feathers
00:49:07I took my aggravation
00:49:10out on it
00:49:11Chalisa I feel like
00:49:13I'm going to puke
00:49:14Don't puke
00:49:15Gryffindor teams
00:49:16one hour to go
00:49:18Hashtag newbie problems
00:49:22Oh my gosh
00:49:31Did someone say
00:49:37we're making a sequel?
00:49:39Bakers

00:51:05pass out or throw up
00:51:06right now
00:51:07Can I go somewhere else?
00:51:09I panic a little bit
00:51:10There's so much pressure
00:51:12Gryffindor teams
00:51:21You have 30 minutes left
00:51:23Oh
00:51:24I feel a lot better
00:51:27Thank you very much
00:51:28It's my first time
00:51:29ever competing like this
00:51:30and it's scary
00:51:32to put yourself out there
00:51:33but you kind of
00:51:34put on a brave face
00:51:35and you get it done
00:51:36just like true Gryffindors do
00:51:38Gonna make it happen
00:51:40Can I ever tell you
00:51:45I'm not very delicate?
00:51:46Yes
00:51:47Several times
00:51:48Careful with those
00:51:49Yeah
00:51:50We're making a little
00:51:51stack of textbooks
00:51:52that'll go next
00:51:53to the lion head
00:51:54so just cutting them
00:51:55to size
00:51:56We've packed as much
00:51:57detail as we can
00:51:58into it while working

00:52:00the scarf happen
00:52:01Just giving it
00:52:03that knit feel

00:52:28to assemble your bakes
00:52:30ready to cast a spell
00:52:32on our judges
00:52:33There's a little bit of anxiety
00:52:35Will the judges like it?
00:52:37Could we have done more?
00:52:38It's all looking gorgeous
00:52:42Don't worry

00:53:16before it really begins
00:53:18It's Norbit
00:53:21It's Norbit's mummy
00:53:24It's Norbit's mummy
00:53:26You've even got
00:53:28his oven mitts in there
00:53:29I love the textures
00:53:30that you have
00:53:31throughout
00:53:32and especially on the beard
00:53:33there
00:53:33It all looks really good
00:53:34Oh, I get this

00:53:55at its best
00:53:56Thank you

00:54:12I love the little dragon
00:54:14I love the mirror glaze
00:54:16The mirror glaze is beautiful
00:54:17Very nicely done
00:54:18Okay, so
00:54:19we decided to make
00:54:20a smoked hazelnut mousse
00:54:21It is like
00:54:22if baby Norbert's
00:54:24finish the dessert
00:54:25You know
00:54:25I love it
00:54:26And I decided to make
00:54:27a passion fruit creme
00:54:28And also
00:54:30we have this amazing
00:54:31roasted hazelnut cake
00:54:33I'm like this
00:54:34I'm like this
00:54:34I'm like this
00:54:35I really like the flavours
00:54:37And the smokiness
00:54:38Lost
00:54:39Oh
00:54:40To me
00:54:41I think it's perfect
00:54:42Only because
00:54:43if it was too much smoke
00:54:45it would blow everything out
00:54:46You guys have such a nice balance
00:54:48Your flavour profiles
00:54:49that you've got
00:54:49I think they're wonderful
00:54:50Thank you so much
00:54:52Thank you
00:54:54Wow
00:54:55Courage
00:54:56Oh, that's cool
00:54:59That brings it to life
00:55:00doesn't it
00:55:00Yeah, it really does
00:55:01Yeah
00:55:01All the kind of main symbols
00:55:04and emblems of it
00:55:05You've got the lion
00:55:05You've got the scarf there
00:55:07You've got the sword of Gryffindor
00:55:09So what do we think
00:55:10of the storytelling here, Carla?
00:55:12I like it
00:55:13The Gryffindor traits
00:55:14of courage
00:55:15determination
00:55:16bravery
00:55:17I mean
00:55:18nothing embodies this
00:55:20more than this
00:55:21Thank you
00:55:22Thank you
00:55:22I think you've made Godric Gryffindor proud
00:55:25with this piece
00:55:26Let's talk about execution
00:55:28I love the colouring
00:55:30The texture on the fabric of the scarf
00:55:33The texture and the detailing on the spines of the books
00:55:37Everything is really beautifully executed
00:55:40Thank you
00:55:41Talk to us about your tasting element
00:55:43It's Satsi cutting in such a magnificent beast
00:55:47I know
00:55:47So sorry
00:55:48So our tasting element involves a rhubarb and blood orange compote
00:55:53Paired with a honey crema
00:55:55Thank you
00:55:56Thank you
00:55:56Some white chocolate milk crumb
00:55:58Just for a little bit of crunch
00:55:59And a buttermilk cake
00:56:01Oh
00:56:02My kneecaps are quivering
00:56:07I think the rhubarb and blood orange
00:56:11Is a very nice acidity
00:56:12I think maybe another layer of the blood orange
00:56:15Yes
00:56:16You have white chocolate
00:56:17You have honey
00:56:18You have all of those sort of creamy sweet notes
00:56:22And then that would just balance it out
00:56:24I like this cake
00:56:25Thank you
00:56:26Look
00:56:27It's good
00:56:28But good is the enemy of great as they say
00:56:31Thank you very much
00:56:33Thank you ladies
00:56:33Appreciate it
00:56:34Two great Gryffindor showpieces
00:56:40But there can only be one winner
00:56:42We've decided
00:56:45The victorious Gryffindor team
00:56:48In this duel
00:56:50Safely through to the next round of this competition
00:56:54Are
00:56:57Jenny and Alex
00:57:01Congratulations
00:57:03You are safe from elimination
00:57:09Well done, well done
00:57:11We won
00:57:12We won
00:57:13That's what happened
00:57:13We won
00:57:14That's what happened
00:57:14We won
00:57:14Yay
00:57:15But what that does mean
00:57:17Heather and Kate's
00:57:19Your place is at risk
00:57:22Thanks
00:57:22We'll see you back here
00:57:25Once we've judged all of the duels
00:57:27Thank you
00:57:28Thank you
00:57:29I feel a little bit like I let Heather down
00:57:31Because I'm kind of the flavor person here
00:57:34And it could be the thing that sends us home
00:57:36Or it could be the thing that sends us on to the next challenge
00:57:38This is a great start
00:57:39And I can't wait to see what's next
00:57:42Yeah
00:57:42One hour to go, Slytherin teams
00:57:47Oh my gosh
00:57:49Hustle
00:57:51Hufflepuffs, you have 30 minutes remaining
00:57:54Detail, detail, detail
00:57:56I need to finish this face
00:57:57The airbrushing takes it to another level
00:57:59Sometimes if you add a little bit of black shading or dark brown
00:58:02It gives it another element of realism
00:58:06This is intense baking
00:58:08And time's slipping away
00:58:10Okay, Hufflepuff teams
00:58:13Five minutes to go
00:58:15Where do you want the pots?
00:58:16I do one full and then one lay down
00:58:18You don't want it all mixed, right?
00:58:20Just a little bit
00:58:21Hufflepuffs
00:58:24Time is up
00:58:26It's gorgeous
00:58:27It is gorgeous
00:58:29We did it!
00:58:36I think we did a great job
00:58:38It's nice and clean
00:58:39The little main drinks are beautiful
00:58:41With those big bellies
00:58:43All the elements are there
00:58:44We feel great
00:58:45We're done
00:58:47And that's a huge relief
00:58:48I hope they see how much work
00:58:51And technique and skill has gone into it
00:58:54Hello!
00:58:58Hello!
00:58:58Wow!
00:58:59Look at all of this!
00:59:02Wow!
00:59:02I mean...
00:59:03That looks like straight up taxidermy
00:59:05I mean, the snail
00:59:06It looks nice and wet
00:59:08Like this leaves, it's slime
00:59:10Anywhere else that wouldn't be a great compliment
00:59:12You're loving the slugs, aren't you?
00:59:15I'm loving the greenhouse
00:59:17I think the story, incredible
00:59:19You didn't need to say a word
00:59:20We got it
00:59:21Yeah
00:59:21You look at this and you know
00:59:23What house this is representing
00:59:25Yes
00:59:25I think execution
00:59:26Everything is executed beautifully
00:59:29Thank you
00:59:29The texture
00:59:30I mean, it feels like...
00:59:31And the eyes
00:59:32The eyes!
00:59:33The eyes!
00:59:34The eyes!
00:59:34Look at that!
00:59:35No, but the devil is in the detail
00:59:36That's incredible
00:59:37Thank you
00:59:37Really
00:59:38And you've certainly delivered on the house element of earth
00:59:41You really have
00:59:42And then we've got some growth coming from the earth as well
00:59:47Growth
00:59:47Growth
00:59:48Oh!
00:59:50Oh!
00:59:50Oh!
00:59:51Oh!
00:59:51Here we go
00:59:52Oh!
00:59:53Oh!
00:59:53Oh!
00:59:54Oh!
00:59:54So what is the tasting element?
00:59:57So for our tasting element today, we're doing a black sesame and yuzu cake
01:00:02Oh!
01:00:03You got a slime!
01:00:04Oh!
01:00:05No!
01:00:06I love it
01:00:07We've done the sponge yellow
01:00:08And then we've got a sesame nougatine in there
01:00:11A yuzu curd
01:00:12Okay
01:00:16The acidity of the yuzu is perfect
01:00:19Black sesame overpowers a little
01:00:21The sesame nougatine is really nice
01:00:23I don't know if the balance was there
01:00:25Okay
01:00:26All right, thank you so much
01:00:27Thank you
01:00:28Thank you
01:00:32Wow, we know what this is
01:00:34Oh my gosh
01:00:36This is one of the most iconic plants
01:00:39Absolutely
01:00:40You know
01:00:40You know exactly where this is from
01:00:42You know exactly what you're trying to say with it
01:00:45From a story point of view, you've definitely nailed it
01:00:48Thank you
01:00:49The detailing looks incredible on this
01:00:51I love the leaves
01:00:52I love the mandrakes themselves
01:00:54All of the different faces
01:00:55Full of character
01:00:56And we've got the Hufflepuff colors
01:00:59Oh, yes
01:00:59Don't forget
01:01:00I think
01:01:01I think
01:01:01Just to be safe
01:01:03You guys should probably put this on
01:01:05Okay
01:01:06Ooh
01:01:08It's so interactive
01:01:10You look cute though
01:01:13Oh my god
01:01:16Oh
01:01:17Oh
01:01:18Oh
01:01:19Oh
01:01:20Oh, it's moving
01:01:26Love it
01:01:27Oh
01:01:28Oh my gosh
01:01:29Fantastic
01:01:30I love it
01:01:31I love the movement up and down
01:01:32I love the mouth
01:01:34Execution
01:01:34I think it's great
01:01:35All right
01:01:36So let's taste it
01:01:37Well, first of all
01:01:38I would like to say a huge honor to be judged
01:01:40By Chef Joseph
01:01:42Because it's been over a decade that I follow your work
01:01:45Thank you
01:01:46You know, this multi-sensory experience
01:01:47So we use the Session peppers
01:01:49Which has like this numbing effect in our tongue
01:01:54So we did the white chocolate mousse with the coriander seeds
01:01:58Angel did an amazing toffee caramel with Session peppers
01:02:01And then there's a thin layer of pate-free with pear and fennel
01:02:04And the cake soaked in whiskey syrup
01:02:08No, I'm getting a little zing
01:02:10I am
01:02:11Which I think is good because
01:02:12To be honest with you
01:02:13You don't want it going too far the other way as well
01:02:15Where you end up with a really numb, petrified tongue
01:02:18No, I actually think that that's got a really nice balance to it
01:02:21I get the acid
01:02:22I get the creaminess
01:02:23I get the Szechuan
01:02:24And then it's almost like my mouth is watering for another bite
01:02:29Are you not salivating?
01:02:31I am salivating
01:02:32Well, what's a good dessert if it doesn't make you salivate?
01:02:35We're literally salivating
01:02:37Wanting that next bite
01:02:40Karla
01:02:41Look at me tucking away into it
01:02:43With my tongue numbingly salivating
01:02:46Yes
01:02:48This is an experience
01:02:50We are not soon to forget
01:02:51It was incredible
01:02:52Absolutely
01:02:53Yay
01:02:54Thank you
01:02:54Thank you
01:02:55Thank you
01:03:01Teams
01:03:02There can only be one winner
01:03:05The team moving on in the competition
01:03:19Is Ruin Angel
01:03:27Molly and Priya
01:03:28It's lucky that patience is a Hufflepuff trait
01:03:31Because you won't find out your fate until a little later
01:03:36We'll see you at the elimination
01:03:38We're not going to go home
01:03:41I just
01:03:42I'm quietly confident
01:03:43Is that jinxing it?
01:03:49Okay, so we're down to our final four teams
01:03:53Slytherin teams
01:03:54Slytherin teams
01:03:55We have 30 minutes left for you
01:03:59Marge, what do you think about something like this?
01:04:01For the fang
01:04:02That's amazing
01:04:04The judges will take the basilisk fang
01:04:06And stab Tom Riddle's diary
01:04:08Which will then ooze red ink
01:04:10I'm going to fill up a little water balloon with it
01:04:14And then I'm going to practice poking it with an exacto knife
01:04:17All right, Marge
01:04:18Oh
01:04:19That's nasty
01:04:20Yeah, that's a good consistency
01:04:22Does this look like a good size for the Tom Riddle diary?
01:04:25Yeah
01:04:25We're going to, you know, carve it out
01:04:27As long as there's room for that balloon in there
01:04:29For sure
01:04:30We need to get our isomalt spiral on
01:04:32And now both of us have to get this entire spiral of our piece
01:04:36And this is the hardest thing
01:04:38What if it's the wrong size?
01:04:39What if it doesn't fit?
01:04:41We didn't even know
01:04:42Oh my god
01:04:43Please, please, please, please
01:04:46Please, please don't crack
01:04:48Please don't crack
01:04:48I'm like, I'm so nervous
01:04:50My heart, I'm sweating
01:04:51I'm good, I'm good, I'm good
01:04:53Oh my gosh
01:04:54Nearly everything can all shatter into pieces
01:04:58The spiral can nick into Voldemort
01:05:01It turns slowly going down
01:05:02Clearing the elbow
01:05:03Other arm
01:05:04I hear the crack
01:05:07Oh, okay
01:05:08Here goes a piece
01:05:09It's okay, I'm spinning
01:05:10Okay
01:05:11And it's down
01:05:13How does outside look?
01:05:15It's good
01:05:16We did it
01:05:17It didn't break
01:05:17It didn't break
01:05:18Okay, Slytherin teams
01:05:22Are you alright, mate?
01:05:28Yeah, I'm just telling Slytherin they've got ten minutes left
01:05:31You know, passing time
01:05:32Okay, we're almost there
01:05:37The clock is winding down, so as a team, we really have to prioritize
01:05:43Not my best work, but Slytherin is done
01:05:46This piece is pretty ambitious, basically three different levels, but at this point, we have to sacrifice things like details
01:05:54For the sake of time, I'm just gonna do two different shades of green for the stalagmites
01:05:59You're good, Marge, you got this
01:06:01You got this
01:06:02I believe in you
01:06:03Don't break
01:06:04Don't break
01:06:05Stay there
01:06:06Stay like this
01:06:07Okay, Slytherin teams
01:06:08Six
01:06:09Five
01:06:10Four
01:06:11Three
01:06:12Two
01:06:13One
01:06:14Arresto Momentum, your time is up
01:06:17Ooh
01:06:18Marge
01:06:20That was madness
01:06:22Oh my gosh
01:06:23We did it
01:06:24We did it
01:06:25Jaja and Katie
01:06:26Yes
01:06:27Marge and Sarah, it's time to present your superb show pieces
01:06:41This is such an ambitious piece, but I think I really showed the judges that we are here to compete at the top level
01:06:46We thought our show piece is gonna be tall, but I'm seeing even larger than life on the other side of the room
01:06:55I'm very nervous
01:06:57You're good, Marge, breathe, breathe
01:06:59I gotcha
01:07:05Well, if it isn't the bad boys and girls of baking, the Slytherin teams
01:07:11It's time to judge your head-to-head duel
01:07:14Oh my God, I'm so...
01:07:18Marge and Sarah
01:07:19All right, I'm interested in what you think about this because you are a fellow Slytherin
01:07:24Well, I am, yeah, we're on home turf here
01:07:26So this is obviously the Chamber of Secrets at the bottom
01:07:29It's got some lovely details, even though you've got the Basilisk Fang there and Tom Riddle's diary
01:07:34So, if you have the urge to stab it with our Basilisk Fang
01:07:39I'm not going to say no
01:07:41Oh, wow
01:07:42Yeah, be careful with it
01:07:43Yeah, start
01:07:44Oh, okay, here we go
01:07:46Ooh
01:07:47There we go
01:07:48Oh!
01:07:49That's cool
01:07:50Okay, the water is bubbling up
01:07:51I like dark things, so I think that's a really, really cool effect
01:07:54Look, story-wise, I love that you guys have transported us to somewhere
01:07:58But do I feel you've necessarily told us a story with it? I don't know
01:08:02Yeah, I agree
01:08:03In terms of execution, I thought the bubbling of the water, the color, the smoke, Tom Riddle's diary looks really great
01:08:10I would have liked more stalagmites, stalactites around here
01:08:15I just think sometimes the little finishing details, that is what really takes something from being a nice piece to an incredible showpiece
01:08:23Yeah
01:08:24But now I think what we need to do is try the tasting element
01:08:26Yes
01:08:27Well, let me ask you this, so do we need to speak Parseltongue, or maybe you do, to actually get some of the cake
01:08:32I would love to hear it
01:08:34There we go
01:08:40That was great
01:08:41That was great
01:08:42Well, it didn't work
01:08:43Well, I didn't say I was fluke
01:08:46So we made a matcha cake with a lime curd and a white chocolate whipped ganache with some ginger toffee pieces
01:08:55That's a real slithering green there for you, isn't it?
01:09:00Oh my gosh
01:09:01That's good, right?
01:09:04My face doesn't lie
01:09:06I think that the ratio of cream to cake is perfect
01:09:12The matcha, you hit the nail on the head
01:09:14I would get a doggy bag of this
01:09:16Oh, thank you
01:09:17Oh my god
01:09:20Jujar and Katie
01:09:23The Order of the Phoenix, this is I'm guessing the final battle between Voldemort and Dumbledore
01:09:28It is
01:09:29Stuff of legends
01:09:30Yes
01:09:31Yeah, you definitely tell the story
01:09:32Yeah
01:09:33The movement of this piece
01:09:34Yeah, you have a great sense of motion in this
01:09:35And I love the way you kind of represented the war
01:09:37So you've done several different textures to build that up as opposed to just having one isomalt
01:09:41That's really cool
01:09:42Thank you
01:09:43Looks great
01:09:44I mean, really great on execution, Julie
01:09:46Thank you
01:09:47Let's move on to taste
01:09:48We're calling this the heart of the dark magic
01:09:51Oh, I like that
01:09:52We did a cardamom cake
01:09:56It has a cardamom simple syrup
01:09:58An orange curd
01:09:59Cardamom Swiss meringue buttercream
01:10:01Candied oranges
01:10:02And some salted pistachios
01:10:04I've never had a cardamom cake before
01:10:08I think that's brilliant
01:10:11I like the zing of the citrus
01:10:14I really like the salted pistachios
01:10:16But I kind of feel they could be a bit crunchier
01:10:19Okay, so
01:10:20Oh, well
01:10:21Do you like it, Carla?
01:10:22What the fuck they say?
01:10:24All of the flavors work
01:10:27The crumb of the cake is so good
01:10:31Thank you
01:10:32Thank you
01:10:33Thank you, guys
01:10:34Thank you
01:10:35The team that's come out on top in this duel
01:10:43Is...
01:10:48Jujar and Ketu
01:10:50Thank you
01:10:51Good job
01:10:52Good job
01:10:53I'm so relieved
01:10:54There's so much work that went into this piece
01:10:55And it feels like the longest day ever
01:10:57But we wanted it very, very much
01:10:58Good job, guys
01:10:59Good job
01:11:00Good job
01:11:01Marge and Sarah
01:11:02Unfortunately, that puts you in our bottom four teams
01:11:07And we can only save two
01:11:10So you're in for a bit of a nervous wait
01:11:12I am trying to stay positive
01:11:14You never know what's gonna happen
01:11:15You never know what's gonna happen
01:11:19Ravenclaw teams
01:11:21You are our final duel
01:11:23Right, so diadems are done
01:11:25Wonderful
01:11:26Just 30 minutes left, Ravenclaws
01:11:28I'm making sure I don't spell anything wrong
01:11:31One of the last things is the handwriting and calligraphy
01:11:34On the individual pages of our book
01:11:36Which will be the riddle
01:11:37I really need to get started on sculpting the rest of the books
01:11:41I'm very stressed out
01:11:43And I wasted a lot of time
01:11:44I'm not happy
01:11:46This is definitely not how I wanted this to go
01:11:48I mean, honestly, we're running out of time
01:11:50Breathe
01:11:51Breathe
01:11:52We want to make sure we incorporate a lot of air
01:11:55Because that's our element
01:11:56So this is supposed to be our magical gust
01:11:58So first I get some modeling chocolate
01:12:00And I start to marble it slightly to give it more dimension
01:12:03Going for like light and airy
01:12:05And I start to put it on my showpiece
01:12:07Okay, okay, okay
01:12:08Every time I put it on, it just keeps falling
01:12:10And it keeps falling
01:12:11And it keeps falling
01:12:12It was very, very frustrating
01:12:14Just stick a little bit
01:12:15The fact that I'm doing this over and over and over
01:12:19Is making me lose it
01:12:21Oh my god
01:12:22And I'm trying to like keep my cool
01:12:24But I'm like if this does not stick
01:12:26It's not gonna look like anything
01:12:27It'll be an empty tube
01:12:28It's totally fine
01:12:35Okay, the best technique to get it on
01:12:37Is to get a hot gun
01:12:38Or a heat gun
01:12:39And heat up the modeling chocolate
01:12:40Because chocolate melts, right?
01:12:41So now that it's soft, it sticks
01:12:44Is it working better?
01:12:45Yeah, I gotta pinch it on the edge
01:12:48But we need to also remember time
01:12:50So I'm just pushing stuff on
01:12:52It was just like
01:12:54I'm not happy with how the guts came out
01:12:56Because some parts could have definitely been smoother than others
01:12:58When you do this at home
01:13:00It's like you've planned for weeks
01:13:02You take your time to make sure everything's precise
01:13:04And here it's just like slap it on
01:13:06I swear I'm a better artist than this
01:13:08All right
01:13:10Just ten minutes to go
01:13:13I have never done a showpiece like this before
01:13:16Now I'm trying to go triple time on these books
01:13:18I've lost way too much time
01:13:20Just trying to have a finished showpiece at this point
01:13:23You guide it with your hand
01:13:24Make sure it doesn't hit the raven
01:13:25Yeah, you're good
01:13:26You're gonna actually grab the bottom of the shield
01:13:27Okay
01:13:28Going into head-to-head competition is tough
01:13:30We've gone for height
01:13:31We've gone for a lot of chocolate on there
01:13:33Wow
01:13:34It's not my best work
01:13:35But at the end of the day
01:13:36Like I'm really proud of us
01:13:37Jalisa
01:13:38Okay
01:13:39Ravenclaw teams
01:13:41Arrest our momentum
01:13:42Your time is up
01:13:44I'm sorry
01:13:45I'm sorry
01:13:46We had to pivot so much
01:13:48We did it
01:13:49We did it
01:13:50We did it
01:13:51That's as good as it's gonna get
01:13:58Everything has to get put on just in the right spot
01:14:00And the details
01:14:01They're very delicate
01:14:02So worried
01:14:03Take your time
01:14:04There you go
01:14:05I've got one more feather on in them
01:14:07We can pick this as well
01:14:08We've got to hope that the judges love what we do
01:14:10And that we can progress
01:14:11And win the head-to-head
01:14:12Oh my god
01:14:17Hello Ravenclaw teams
01:14:19It's time to judge your efforts
01:14:21And to find out which Ravenclaw showpiece
01:14:24Really took flight
01:14:26Caitlin and Jalisa
01:14:28Wow
01:14:29This makes you want to study, right?
01:14:30This is the Raven creating a whirlwind of air
01:14:35We've got a wand down there
01:14:37Wingardium Leviosa
01:14:40There you go
01:14:41Wow
01:14:44It feels a bit menacing up there
01:14:46The way it's kind of coming towards us
01:14:48Great use of air as your house element
01:14:50Sort of this whirlwind and turning
01:14:52Story
01:14:53We're getting all of your elements
01:14:55I do like the composition of what you've got
01:14:57But I don't know if it necessarily tells me a story
01:14:59On execution
01:15:00Look guys
01:15:01You've got some great detail in there
01:15:03I love some of the textures that you guys have used
01:15:05The wings on the bird look great
01:15:07I like the little sugar bubbles
01:15:09You've got a lot of different technique going on here
01:15:12But the kind of sense of levitation that you're getting there
01:15:15The elements look quite heavy
01:15:17Yeah
01:15:18With the modeling chocolate
01:15:19I think you just needed a lighter medium
01:15:22Yeah
01:15:23Maybe like sugar or something
01:15:24The books
01:15:25I feel like the pages needed to be a little bit more detailed
01:15:29And that's what really is required to make these show pieces stand out
01:15:34Now let's talk about the tasting element
01:15:37Yeah, so because we are representing Ravenclaw
01:15:40Professor Treelani, one of the classes that she teaches is how to read the tea leaves
01:15:43So we decided to go with a tea inspired flavor cake
01:15:46Love it
01:15:47This is our take on London Fog
01:15:49So it is an earl grey cake with a earl grey milk soak
01:15:52It's a blueberry lavender jam with a honey vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream
01:15:56Yum
01:15:57Nice
01:15:58You were telling me London Fog is one of your favorites
01:15:59Isn't it?
01:16:00It is
01:16:01I love a London Fog beverage
01:16:07I love the flavors
01:16:08What I am not enjoying are the bits of tea
01:16:12Oh, okay
01:16:13So I think what you need it to do
01:16:15All right
01:16:18Is um
01:16:19Maybe take the sugar
01:16:21Pulse it with the tea
01:16:23So it's finer
01:16:24It's sticking in my teeth
01:16:25It's not really pleasant
01:16:26It's rehydrated
01:16:27In the batter
01:16:28Oh, okay
01:16:29That makes sense
01:16:30I love the earl grey is lovely
01:16:31It comes through nice and clean
01:16:33The crumb for me is very dry
01:16:35You're thinking about the ratios of what you have
01:16:38I think there needed to be more jam
01:16:40I think it's probably dry because once that tea rehydrates
01:16:44It absorbs a lot of the moisture from your cake
01:16:46Yeah
01:16:47Yeah
01:16:48That makes a lot of sense scientifically
01:16:49Yeah
01:16:50Mm-hmm
01:16:51Your cake is not where I think you wanted it to be
01:16:55Thank you guys
01:16:56Thank you
01:16:57Regardless of what happens I love our showpiece
01:17:00And that's it
01:17:01That's it
01:17:06Hello gents
01:17:09Oh, look at that
01:17:11Raven
01:17:12We've got the colors
01:17:13We've got the blue
01:17:14The silver
01:17:15The scarf
01:17:16Yeah, that looks very nicely knitted
01:17:18Oh, it looks really good
01:17:19So this is the dye then that belongs to Rowena Ravenclaw
01:17:21Mm-hmm
01:17:22We've got the book of riddles, it would seem
01:17:24We love a riddle
01:17:25We love a riddle
01:17:26I have no voice, but I can speak
01:17:29I have no body, but I can't move
01:17:31I have no hands, but I can feel your skin
01:17:36The element of air
01:17:37That is correct
01:17:38Wind
01:17:39Air
01:17:40Very good
01:17:41Top of the class, Joseph
01:17:42Yeah
01:17:43Oh
01:17:44Oh
01:17:45Oh
01:17:46Oh, oh, oh
01:17:48Oh
01:17:49Oh
01:17:50Oh
01:17:52Oh
01:17:53Oh
01:17:54Very cool
01:17:55Oh, I love it
01:17:57I love that
01:17:58I tell you
01:17:59I love the book
01:18:00I love how light the pages look
01:18:03In terms of story, we get Ravenclaw
01:18:05In terms of the execution
01:18:06I love the textures that you guys have
01:18:09From the wings
01:18:10This little detailing here is beautiful
01:18:12Yeah, I love that
01:18:13This is, yeah
01:18:14And if we're going to go into the details here
01:18:16I love the book and I love the page
01:18:18I think there could have been other text on other pages
01:18:20Yeah
01:18:21That's one of the things I have to say about being in this space where we are
01:18:24The devil is in the detail every corner you look in and I just think having one random riddle there
01:18:31I think it would have been nice maybe to have other Ravenclaw related content images whatever on the other pages
01:18:38Little details
01:18:39And then the feathers
01:18:40And then the feathers
01:18:43So the only way to follow that explosion is to taste
01:18:47Obviously displaying the beautiful dilemma
01:18:50We've created this velvet-style pillar for it to sit upon
01:18:53And inside there we've layered multiple flavours and textures
01:18:56We have a lovely base of a crunchy foitee with almonds and blonde chocolate
01:18:59Ooh
01:19:00I like the layers
01:19:02We then have a beautiful blonde chocolate sponge
01:19:05A layer of milk chocolate custard
01:19:07A salted caramel
01:19:08The layers of Ravenclaw
01:19:10We finally have a beautiful whipped ganache of milk chocolate
01:19:17No poker face here
01:19:23The mousse is so light
01:19:26You have the blonde chocolate cake
01:19:28And the foillotine
01:19:29The sablé
01:19:30But as you're eating it
01:19:31The salted caramel
01:19:32Really is the sauce in your mouth
01:19:35It's almost like a sundae
01:19:37On the taste side
01:19:38You guys have absolutely nailed it with this
01:19:41Thank you
01:19:43Thank you
01:19:44Thank you
01:19:51The team
01:19:52Through to the next challenge
01:19:55Is
01:19:59Andy and Stefan
01:20:00Congrats
01:20:01Good job guys
01:20:02Congrats
01:20:03It feels incredible to be safe
01:20:05And actually progressing into the next round
01:20:07Caitlin and Jaleesa
01:20:08Unfortunately
01:20:09That puts you at risk
01:20:11Of leaving the competition for good
01:20:14This is really nerve-racking
01:20:16I know what we're both capable of
01:20:17And that was not our best foot forward
01:20:19Let's just pray that we make it through
01:20:27Thank you for a wonderful first challenge
01:20:29All about the houses of Hogwarts
01:20:31Jenny and Alex
01:20:32Angel and Rui
01:20:34Juju and KG
01:20:35And Andy and Stefan
01:20:36You won your Hogwarts house jewels
01:20:39And that means
01:20:40That you'll all move on
01:20:42To the next Harry Potter location
01:20:44Well done
01:20:49So that leaves
01:20:50Heather and Kate
01:20:52Molly and Priya
01:20:54Marge and Sarah
01:20:55Caitlin and Jaleesa
01:20:57Katelyn and Jaleesa
01:20:58Unfortunately
01:20:59This adventure
01:21:00Must now end
01:21:01For two talented teams
01:21:04Over to you judges
01:21:06The first team
01:21:07We are saving
01:21:09Is
01:21:13Molly and Priya
01:21:18Congratulations you guys
01:21:20The second and final team
01:21:22We're saving
01:21:23Is
01:21:24Heather and Kate
01:21:27Heather and Kate
01:21:30Oh my god
01:21:33I think the first challenge
01:21:35Was a good learning experience for us
01:21:37I think we're just going to get better and better
01:21:40Marge and Sarah
01:21:41Caitlin, Jaleesa
01:21:42We're truly sorry
01:21:43But your time on Wizzes of Baking
01:21:45Must end here
01:21:46It's just you have full faith in your concept
01:21:47And you work very hard on it
01:21:48And sometimes things just don't go the way you want
01:21:49It's really hard to accept that when you know what you're capable of
01:21:50100%
01:21:51There were a lot of wonderful elements to your piece
01:21:52It really was the Earl Grey cake
01:21:53That didn't quite meet the level that we thought it should
01:21:54At the end of the day like I'm really proud of us and I wouldn't have to do that
01:21:55I would not change who my partner was for anything
01:21:56I just feel like I let Kate look down
01:21:57You did not
01:21:58You did not
01:21:59Marge and Sarah
01:22:00I think we both thought your matcha tea cake was phenomenally good
01:22:14But the finishing and the detailing just wasn't good
01:22:15I think that you were able to do that
01:22:17You did not
01:22:18You did not
01:22:19Marge and Sarah
01:22:21I think we both thought your matcha tea cake was phenomenally good
01:22:45Aunque no me gustaba tanto,
01:22:47creo que lo que he enseñado es lo que soy capaz,
01:22:50he enseñado mi personalidad,
01:22:52y eso es todo lo que puedo hacer.
01:22:55Ok, buen trabajo, bakers.
01:22:57Todos nos hicieron hasta el siguiente desafío.
01:22:59¡Gracias!
01:23:04Pero, si pensabas que esto era difícil,
01:23:07espera hasta que veamos lo que viene.
01:23:12Coming up on Wizards of Baking
01:23:14Get your buildings right here!
01:23:16Chapter 2
01:23:18You're making toilet paper over there.
01:23:19Yeah, yeah, smell.
01:23:20This is the weirdest thing I've ever done.
01:23:22In a season full of sugar
01:23:24Why does this work?
01:23:25And spice
01:23:26And a little bit of Chipotle for smokiness.
01:23:28Not exactly everything is nice.
01:23:31Anybody have a time turner in their pocket?
01:23:33Not today, Heather.
01:23:34But there are familiar faces.
01:23:36Unlocked and loaded.
01:23:37Oh wow.
01:23:38There's one element missing.
01:23:40And that's the mini me.
01:23:41And Harry Potter lore.
01:23:43It's time for a game of Draco or Faco.
01:23:47If he bows back, it means you can touch him.
01:23:49Hey.
01:23:50And the game changing twist.
01:23:52No way.
01:23:53No one saw coming.
01:23:54We solemnly swear we've been up to no good.
01:23:57No.
01:23:58No.
01:23:59No.
01:24:00No.
