00:00You let them wander out on Turley's quarry now?
00:09For a few years, since our waterhole reduced by half.
00:14Yeah? She's so mean as ever.
00:16Martha Winstone mean?
00:20Don't you remember when she caught Janet and I swimming in the waterhole?
00:23No. No, what happened?
00:25Well, she put us to work. Spent the whole afternoon cleaning out her shed.
00:30She forgot to tell us that she had hornets.
00:33Yeah, not that. That sounds like Martha.
00:36Yeah, we were so late coming back to do our chores. You were steaming, man.
00:39Yeah, well, it served your eye. She warned you too often enough.
00:43Come on, you can't keep two kids out of a quarry on a hot summer day.
00:48You all right, then?
00:50Yeah, I'm sore. I'm sore, but I'm all right.
00:54And I am going to get back out on this land when I want, no matter what Dr. Randall says.
00:59The doctor says you need to be resting.
01:01Ah, you know doctors.
01:07Well, look at that.
01:10That's nature's finest nuisance right there.
01:15Is that wolf or coyote?
01:16Ah, definitely a wolf.
01:17Looks like it's out on its own.
01:19They're not usually a real threat to the cattle, are they?
01:25Oh, not directly, but they can stir up a heap of trouble with the livestock and the dogs.
01:32And then they start running in a pack.
01:34That's when your problem really grows.
01:36Come on, let's get these cattle back to the pastures.
01:39Walk on easy, live it hard, give it up.
02:00Anyway, I've been meaning to tell you what a game changer it's been having you at the clinic.
02:22I mean, we desperately needed another pair of hands.
02:26And with your specialty training, we're sending far fewer patients into the city now.
02:29You better stop, because all this is really going in my head.
02:32That's just it, Dr. Humble.
02:34You're helping so much and just happy to do the work.
02:37I like Crossroads Springs.
02:39It's an interesting town with interesting people.
02:42Oh, yeah?
02:43That's a nice community, that's all I'm saying.
02:45No, the team at the clinic is great.
02:49Everyone really has each other's backs.
02:52When I was at Cedar Rock, Dr. Charles definitely instilled the importance of the team in me.
02:56She'd always say, you don't have to be a hero all alone.
02:59Rely on the people on your shift.
03:01That's great advice, but not all doctors are like that.
03:04There's a lot of stubbornness.
03:05Speaking of stubborn, how's it going with my dad?
03:08Oh, yeah, I wanted to ask you about that.
03:10He missed his follow-up.
03:12Shocker.
03:13I don't know if he was too busy or just for God.
03:15Probably both.
03:17Anyway, I got his results.
03:19Can you share them with me?
03:23Well, do you have medical power of attorney?
03:26No, but I'm his daughter.
03:27That should count for something.
03:30Wow, this is awkward.
03:33I'm sorry, Janet.
03:34I don't want to betray his confidence.
03:36And no offense, he seemed pretty happy that you weren't going to be his primary anymore.
03:41Fine, but promise me something.
03:43When I grill him on what happened, you'll verify whether or not he's telling me the truth.
03:48Like they tell?
03:50Just look at your watch and then I'll know.
03:53Huh.
03:54We'll see what he says.
03:55I'm not promising anything.
03:58I'll take that as a yes.
03:59Every time I get into these interviews, it's like they're always asking for more experience, more years on the job.
04:06You know, when I was a kid, one winter, our main pipe burst and we had no water.
04:22I had to go down to the river with a couple of buckets.
04:28You could drink water right out of the river back there.
04:31No filter required.
04:33That's a girl.
04:34That was the first time I ever saw a wolf up close.
04:40Really?
04:41What happened?
04:43It was wild.
04:45A wolf just looking right at me.
04:48And I froze.
04:50It was just staring me down with those steely eyes.
04:52But she didn't come after you?
04:56No, she did not.
04:57I held my ground.
05:00Then it felt like she was almost smiling at me.
05:04And that's when I realized the more you understand the wildlife out here,
05:10the more you realize that all creatures have their purpose.
05:17And I've always tried to run this ranch that way.
05:19I give the predators the respect and the space that they're intended to have.
05:26And that's God's will.
05:28Glad, yes.
05:32Well, the day's not over.
05:37One more for the river.
05:45Hey, Sherry, are those two back?
05:47Yeah, and they might even be on time for supper.
05:50How did Willis do on his horse?
05:52You know him.
05:53He's not saying much.
05:54But he did ask to take out one of the older mares.
05:57His way of taking it easy, I guess.
05:59You know your brother too well.
06:08So you need experience to get the job, but the job to get experience.
06:12Exactly.
06:13It's a catch-22.
06:14Well, I think it should count that you have such a great attitude.
06:20If only we could pay our rent with our positive outlook.
06:24You're going to get this one.
06:26I just know it.
06:28I have the greatest wife in the world.
06:31Well, you're going to nail it.
06:32I believe in you.
06:33Wish me luck.
06:41No.
06:42You don't need luck.
06:44God's on your side, and he has a plan for us.
06:49That he does.
06:49You're going to get space.
07:09Oh, my God.
07:39Hey, you.
07:48Hey.
07:53It's real peaceful in here, isn't it?
07:54Mm-hmm.
07:56It's a bit rustic, but it's got good vibes.
08:01What do you got there?
08:04It's for you.
08:05It's the Saunders Family Bible.
08:08Like Grandpa Saunders Bible?
08:10The one he'd read to us when we were kids at Christmas?
08:13And Easter.
08:15And your mom had it out every Sunday when you were growing up.
08:19Wow.
08:21Been in your mother's family for generations.
08:23Feels only right that you are the keeper of it.
08:31That means a lot.
08:35I was thinking we should get some proper chairs in here.
08:38What do you think?
08:40What, are you saying I'm too good for this hay bale?
08:42No, it's just a bit scratchy.
08:45Yes, it is.
08:45I was thinking about hanging the guitar right there.
08:51Look at you getting comfortable.
08:53It's just a quiet place for me to make some noise, that's all.
08:57Yeah, I like it in here, too.
09:01There's something about the way the light filters in.
09:04It's the sunbeams.
09:07Mm-hmm.
09:07Well, I know exactly what you mean.
09:10I feel at peace.
09:15Why don't we shake it up a little bit?
09:18Oh, okay.
09:19For old time sake.
09:20Okay, sure.
09:21What did you have in mind?
09:23Oh, James, it's been a long time.
09:25You remember it?
09:25Of course.
09:26Of course.
09:27You go first.
09:28Wait in the water.
09:37Wait in the water, children.
09:41Wait in the water.
09:43Because God's going to trouble those waters.
09:47Take it away.
09:47See that child all dressed in red.
09:52Wait in the water, children.
09:54Must be the children that Moses led.
09:57Because God's going to trouble those waters.
10:02Wait in the water.
10:06Wait in the water, children.
10:10Wait in the water.
10:12Because God's going to trouble those waters.
10:18Oh.
10:19Oh.
10:20Oh.
10:27That's it.
10:33Thanks for putting the feet out in the horse barn.
10:35Yeah, of course.
10:36You seem to be settling in, finding your rhythm.
10:39Tell that to my muscles.
10:41My entire body hurts.
10:43Okay, I know it's just temporary, but what you're doing is really making a difference.
10:48Really?
10:48Because it feels like it's just a drop in a bucket.
10:50You don't get a bucket of water without a lot of drops.
10:55That's actually really profound.
10:57I might use that for one of my servants.
10:59Be my guest.
11:04How's the herd looking today?
11:06Why don't you mind your own herd?
11:09Okay.
11:11I thought you were heading back to the city, Pastor.
11:13I thought it might be nice just to go around a little bit longer.
11:20I'm sure your father would appreciate that.
11:25Hey, Newman.
11:27Newman.
11:28Yeah?
11:29I should mention, we saw both tracks earlier.
11:33No kidding.
11:34Yeah, so you may want to take some precautions, all right?
11:36Huh.
11:37I'd like to take action.
11:43Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the nourishment before us, a gift of your provision, and thank
11:51you for this beautiful day and giving us the strength to get through it with grace.
11:57In your name, amen.
11:59Amen.
12:00Amen.
12:04So, Amy, you better lock up the hen house extra tight tonight.
12:09There's a wolf around.
12:10Oh, will do.
12:11Let's hope he's just passing through.
12:13Fingers crossed.
12:15Oh, I did see Daniel at the fence line.
12:16I told him there was a wolf about.
12:19Hmm.
12:20Dad, he is still our neighbor.
12:24All the ranchers along the ridgeline deserve to know it's a shared concern.
12:27Son, I know what you're thinking, that you have to love thy neighbor, but I'm telling you,
12:32and the Lord above would agree, the Newmans are no good.
12:38And Amy, do you agree with this?
12:40Well, it's no secret I'm not a fan of the Newmans, but everyone deserves to know.
12:46But I get why you're hesitant.
12:49The last time your father told the Newmans about a wolf, they...
12:51Well, let's change the topic.
12:56How's it going with Martha in the right-of-way for the water quarry?
12:58Well, don't you mind about her?
13:00Me and Martha have a years-long understanding.
13:03You think you have her wrapped around your little finger, don't you?
13:05I'll figure it out.
13:08Oh, Dad.
13:09And you will also follow up with Dr. Randall.
13:13He told Janet you missed your appointment.
13:15Snitch.
13:16You can't keep skipping these.
13:17It's a bother.
13:18I already took all the tests.
13:20And now he wants to talk to you about the results.
13:23I'm never good when they want to talk.
13:26Everything looks on track with the baby.
13:33The growth rate is right where it should be.
13:35Heartbeat strong.
13:36It's so cool to hear the heartbeat.
13:38Look at the tiny little toes.
13:40Yeah.
13:43I'll give you a moment.
13:44I'll give you a moment.
13:46I'll give you a moment.
13:48I'll give you a moment.
13:52I'll give you a moment.
13:54I'll give you a moment.
13:56All right.
13:57Sounds good.
14:00All right.
14:01Bye.
14:03James.
14:04What a nice surprise.
14:05Just missed the morning rush.
14:07Call it good timing.
14:09Do you have a few minutes?
14:10I could really use a coffee and a visit.
14:13Yeah.
14:13Of course.
14:19Do you want to take the coffee to go?
14:21It's a beautiful day out.
14:22Sure.
14:26I'm going to pop out for a bit.
14:30You okay?
14:31Great.
14:32All yours.
14:33Come on, cowboy.
14:40This town has changed so much.
14:41I know.
14:42I was shocked when I came back.
14:44It does seem like a lot of the older businesses, they're hanging in there, though.
14:49Yeah.
14:50Now I know what that's like firsthand.
14:52Owning a small business, it means working 80 hours a week just so you don't have to work 40 for someone else.
14:59So how's the ranch?
15:01That's good.
15:02That's good.
15:03That's nice.
15:03You know, working with my dad, the whole father-son thing, it's something he's always wanted.
15:10I'm sure he really appreciates that, even if it is just a short stay.
15:16Look, Mr. Hamilton, I understand that you're a busy man, but I think it's time to slow down a little bit.
15:20Slow down?
15:21You don't know the first thing about ranching.
15:23There's two speeds, on and off.
15:26Well, I may not know much about ranching, but I do know an awful lot about blood pressure.
15:30I feel fine.
15:31I get that these are just numbers, but we take them as warning signs.
15:34Warning signs?
15:36All you're saying is there's nothing wrong with me.
15:40What I'm saying is if we pay attention now, we can prevent any serious issues from happening.
15:46I'm prescribing some medication for blood pressure.
15:48I don't need it.
15:49I feel fine.
15:51Look, I can't force you to take these pills, but I know you are a man of faith.
16:01And?
16:01And the Bible encourages wise and attentive care for one's health, including noticing the signs and actually doing something about them.
16:13You hear that from my son, the pastor?
16:17No, I hear that from my own pastor, sir.
16:21Fair enough.
16:23I hear you.
16:24But I think you should be focusing on my trust.
16:29Talking to my daughter about me.
16:31I would never give your daughter any details without your consent, sir.
16:37That may be the case, but you told her I missed my appointment.
16:44I did.
16:44Yeah.
16:47Won't happen again, sir.
16:53Fine.
16:53Hey.
17:00How's your day going?
17:03Good.
17:05Having a fun morning.
17:06Cutest couple with a baby on the way.
17:08Oh, it's great when we have good news appointments, huh?
17:11Speaking of appointments, how'd it go?
17:13It seemed like he might take my advice.
17:18I'll talk to him.
17:19Don't worry.
17:20I appreciate that, but I need to gain back his trust.
17:25So if it's okay, I'll just keep you updated as a concerned daughter.
17:28As a concerned daughter, I know that my father is incorrigible.
17:33He's got all his favorite tactics lined up.
17:36Skip appointments, ignore advice, forget prescriptions.
17:39You know what?
17:40I need to give him a chance to at least, you know, show me himself what he's going to do.
17:45Okay.
17:46You get it.
17:47Got it, Jed.
17:50I know it might help, though.
17:53What's that?
17:53If you came to dinner at the ranch one night.
18:01How would that, um, help?
18:03You know, breaking bread with a grumpy old patient.
18:07Might soften him up a bit.
18:11Yeah?
18:12Mm-hmm.
18:13Okay.
18:16I'm in.
18:23Well, he gave me a prescription to fill, but I had to make him do it.
18:27I've never seen a man so reluctant.
18:30As long as he's letting you fill it, let's take it as a win.
18:33Well, I suppose.
18:34Anyways, I think it's a really good sign that James is staying past his expected departure,
18:38don't you?
18:40Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into that.
18:43Well, I know.
18:44I just, I just think he's enjoying it more than he lets on.
18:47That's all.
18:48No, I agree.
18:48I just don't want you getting your hopes up that he's going to solve all the ranch's problems.
18:52Well, speaking of that, the accountant's coming by on Monday to talk turkey about her books.
18:56Any chance you can be here for that meeting?
18:58Sure, I'll be there.
19:00Oh, and I invited Dr. Randall for a family dinner.
19:04When?
19:05One night when we have a lighter load here at the clinic.
19:09Okay, well, I'll get a few things in and, uh, we'll just play it by ear.
19:13Thanks.
19:17Huh.
19:21I saw a Newman out there with a shotgun.
19:25Oh, yeah?
19:27It's not legal to shoot wolves in this state.
19:30I'm sure he knows that.
19:31Well, maybe it's not wolves he's going after.
19:35Shouldn't assume he's aiming to break the law, Nathan.
19:38Whatever you say, but let me tell you, it always takes the easy way out on that side of the fence.
19:42Let's just focus on the plan.
19:46Run the perimeter.
19:48Got it?
19:50James, it is such a blessing to have you taking over some of the day-to-day here.
19:53Taking over?
19:55Let's not get carried away.
19:57Don't worry, Dad.
19:58No one's saying you're hanging up your hat.
20:00No one except my new doctor.
20:03If he had his way.
20:06Eric said that?
20:07Yes, Eric.
20:09Slow down, he says.
20:10Cut out red meat, he says.
20:12Who would even say that to a cattle rancher?
20:14It's not the worst idea.
20:19So you can get the herd up close to the barn like I told you?
20:22Yeah, we know the routine, Dad.
20:26We've got it taken care of.
20:27Also, Nathan and I, we went ahead and reinforced the hen house in case that wolf comes back around.
20:31That means more money on chicken wire.
20:34I just thought it was a good idea for the ranch.
20:37Now, don't tell me how to run the ranch.
20:38I'm not. I'm not.
20:41You know, it wouldn't hurt for you to show just a little appreciation.
20:45I have been working very hard all afternoon.
20:46Working hard?
20:47I'm the one that's here doing it every day.
20:50I know what it takes.
20:51If rolling out a little chicken wire is hard work for you, then...
20:54Then what?
20:54Okay, stop it!
20:58Willis, if you could hear yourself right now riding your son like that.
21:02You're going to drive him away.
21:03That's fine with me if he goes.
21:04You made that clear with his decisions years ago.
21:12Now, why would you say something like that?
21:15You know, if Marianne was here, she would...
21:16Well, Marianne's not here, is she?
21:24You can serve yourselves pie.
21:26I'm not hungry anymore.
21:27Dad, she's trying to help.
21:32Okay.
21:42Can we talk?
22:04Yeah, of course.
22:05Everyone's always welcome here.
22:08Just about to head into town, but before I go,
22:10I got inspired to clean up the place a bit.
22:12Do you want to sit on your mind?
22:43Well, no one's thinking about laying you off,
22:44if that's what you're worried about.
22:46I can guarantee you that.
22:51I have to apologize.
22:52I'm sorry, Sherry.
22:54We haven't really been communicating with you, Nathan,
22:56and the other ranch hands.
22:58I'm sorry if we've given you any kind of question
23:00or doubt or uncertainty about the future.
23:01You don't know how happy I am to hear that.
23:06Thanks, James.
23:08Of course.
23:08Anytime.
23:08I don't know how happy I am.
23:09I don't know how happy I am.
23:09I don't know how happy I am.
23:09I don't know how happy I am.
23:09I don't know how happy I am.
23:10I don't know how happy I am.
23:11I don't know how happy I am.
23:12I don't know how happy I am.
23:13I don't know how happy I am.
23:14I don't know how happy I am.
23:15I don't know how happy I am.
23:16I don't know how happy I am.
23:17I don't know how happy I am.
23:18Well, a girl could get used to this.
23:41I just figured it's one less job you have to worry about.
23:43Yeah, it was pretty low on my list of priorities.
23:47Yeah, but you hear that?
23:48Nothing. Smooth as silk.
23:53But I doubt you came all this way just for that.
23:55No, actually, I was on my way to the hardware store.
23:59Oh. You want some company?
24:01Hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I'd love some.
24:11So how's cowboy life?
24:14Calluses and sunburns. Can't beat it.
24:16How's Miss Amy doing?
24:19She's doing okay.
24:21Yeah?
24:21She's holding a lot on her shoulders right now.
24:23I mean, she and my dad, they've been working side by side ever since mom passed.
24:27But I think she's got a fair share of frustrations with ranch life right now.
24:31Makes sense.
24:33I mean, I don't know if I could handle working with my brothers at the cafe.
24:36I know the Lord says to live in harmony, but I also know my limits.
24:41It's easier said than done.
24:43Hmm.
24:43I think she's feeling underappreciated, too.
24:47Maybe she just needs someone to talk to.
24:49You've got some experience with that.
24:52Yeah, sure.
24:53I guess I'm still trying to figure out how only training as a pastor really fits into all of this.
24:58You know, family and the ranch.
25:01I'm sure with such a short visit, you're probably worried to give advice and run.
25:04Well, I wasn't, but I am now.
25:06I'm just saying, you're a very compassionate person.
25:11And I know you're going to find solutions to all these challenges on the ranch, but that's going to require you putting in some serious time.
25:18Yeah, there are just so many reasons to go.
25:21Equally, same amount to stay.
25:24The answer's going to come.
25:26They always do.
25:36This ought to do it.
25:56Yeah, that makes ten total.
25:58We used to go as high as 20, but they're eating pretty good in the past years, and I don't see a lot of bunching.
26:03Good morning, Miss Amy.
26:05Good morning.
26:05Well, good news.
26:06Thanks to your additional fencing, the hens are safe and sound.
26:09That's a relief.
26:10When I was at the cafe, Joe Reynolds said they saw the wolf out near Ironwood Ranch.
26:15Well, that's not that far away.
26:16No, that's closer than the tracks are that we found.
26:19I'm going to bring it up at the Ranchers Association meeting.
26:21Yeah, that's a good idea.
26:24Okay, well, I'm heading back to the house.
26:26Lunch is in an hour.
26:29Hey, Nathan, don't go anywhere.
26:33I just got a quick question for you.
26:35In your opinion, how's my dad doing?
26:37Really.
26:39Your dad?
26:40Yeah, just he's getting older.
26:43And with Rick gone, with Mom gone, running the ranch, I'm worried about him.
26:47I just don't want to talk out of turn.
26:49Willis is the best employer I've ever had.
26:52Now, anything you say, it stays between you and me.
26:54It doesn't go any further than right here.
26:56I'm just asking out of concern.
26:58I'm his son.
26:59I have noticed he can't always keep up the way he used to.
27:06Don't get me wrong, he still does the work of three men, but...
27:09Yeah.
27:10I can tell his age has taken its toll.
27:14He's proud, though, you know?
27:16He hides it.
27:17And I don't want to ask about it.
27:19It is my hope that they'll see sense and start looking for a few more hands.
27:26All right.
27:27Yeah, I understand.
27:28Thank you for your honesty.
27:29I appreciate it.
27:31If there's anything I can do, I'm here for you.
27:33For all the Hamiltons.
27:44All in favor of sponsoring the youth club's after-school programs through next year?
27:53Those against?
27:57The eyes have it.
27:59Funding allocated.
28:01Next order of business.
28:02The small rancher's lobby to keep the distributor's minimum at 500 head.
28:09What's this, ma'am?
28:10They want to raise the minimum to $750 for us to get beef distribution.
28:14$750 for distribution?
28:15That's not fair.
28:16No, sir, it's not.
28:18That's the official position of the association.
28:20In fact, we still have a seat to fill on the lobby committee.
28:24What's your name, sir?
28:27James Hamilton.
28:29Ah, Willis, son.
28:30Welcome, James.
28:31James, maybe you'd like to sit on the lobby committee.
28:35Oh.
28:35I seemed all fired up about it.
28:38Right, but it's none of my business.
28:40James is just visiting from Chicago.
28:44Ah, I see.
28:44Well, then we'll give you a pass.
28:48I'll do it, Mason.
28:50Thanks, Tucker.
28:51Note for the record that Tucker Barrett has volunteered for the small rancher's lobby committee.
28:56This brings us to everyone's favorite part of the night, new business.
29:04Amy Hamilton, floor's yours.
29:06Thanks.
29:07Hi, everyone.
29:13Um, it looks like there has been a wolf sighting nearby.
29:18So, at this point, we don't know if it's a lone wolf or if it's a pack of wolves, but...
29:22Actually, my brother started running the ridge.
29:25We're keeping the herd close to the barn.
29:28Maybe, maybe you all want to do the same?
29:30Well, I sure know what I'd like to do about it.
29:32Woo-woo!
29:35Yeah, well, we all know how the Newmans like to take care of business, right?
29:39Thanks.
29:41All right, I'll bite.
29:42What's that supposed to mean?
29:43Let's keep civil, please.
29:45Feeling pretty civil, Mason.
29:47About you, Amy?
29:49You feeling civil?
29:51Yeah, you know...
29:51It means that you are quick to use might over right.
29:55You Newmans always are.
29:58Hmm.
30:00Well, the back row speaks.
30:04Yeah, I like to get stuff done.
30:06What are you saying, that I'm heavy-handed?
30:08No, I'm just saying like father, like son.
30:12You want to take this discussion outside?
30:14I'm right here.
30:16What exactly do you have to say about my dead father?
30:18Hey, please, let's...
30:19I know how to talk to the Newmans' son. It's all right.
30:24Oh, do you?
30:25You know what? My father was a good man.
30:27And you don't have any right to speak of him.
30:30We've shared a fence line for a hundred years.
30:33Hmm.
30:33And I can see that your side doesn't always bide by the rules.
30:39Yeah, well, if a wolf comes on my property, I have every right in the world to pick a fight with it, don't I?
30:45One which I will win.
30:47That wolf has just as much right to this land as we do.
30:50You hunt to feed your family, Daniel.
30:56Not out of the darkness of your heart.
30:59Let's just step back, Dad.
31:01Okay, Willis, just leave it.
31:05Folks, there's no more new business.
31:08Can we call it a close so we can lower the temperature in here?
31:10Can I get a second on the motion?
31:14A second for close?
31:15We're adjourned.
31:18Hello.
31:19I'm really looking forward to this home-cooked meal.
31:22Aunt Amy makes the most delicious dinners, and if you're lucky, there will be pie.
31:25Pie?
31:26Mm-hmm.
31:26Mm-mm-mm.
31:27That's what I'm talking about.
31:30Unless it's Rancher's Association meeting night.
31:33Oh.
31:34Forgot about that.
31:36There's no worries.
31:37Perfect timing.
31:40Janet.
31:41Dr. Randall.
31:42Amy.
31:43James.
31:44Eric.
31:45Where's Dad?
31:46Uh, he's at the Lone Star in town.
31:48Tucker's gonna get him home safely.
31:50Daniel and Dad had words at the meeting.
31:52The wolf's sighting has everyone up in arms.
31:54Yeah, especially Daniel.
31:55I was only trying to do the right thing and let all the other ranchers know, and now I feel like I've made a mess.
32:00I thought tonight might be a good night to bring Eric home for dinner.
32:04Or not.
32:04But I shouldn't have just popped in like this.
32:06We can just grab some takeout now.
32:07Yeah, takeouts?
32:07No, no, no, no.
32:08No, don't be ridiculous.
32:09You're always welcome.
32:11Uh, I just, I haven't had a chance to cook yet, so, uh, sandwiches?
32:15I love sandwiches.
32:19I need to go wash up.
32:21All right.
32:24And Amy, how can I help?
32:26Uh, you can't.
32:27It's, it's good.
32:28Why don't you go sit down?
32:29Eric and I can make the sandwiches.
32:32Yeah, maybe you're right.
32:36I'm so sorry.
32:37I don't know what's going on with my family.
32:39Every family has their moments.
32:42It's fine.
32:45Okay.
32:46So what do we got?
32:48Quite the family dinner.
32:49Dad's gone AWOL and Aunt Amy just split out the back door.
32:52She did.
32:53Mm-hmm.
32:54Still hungry?
33:01I'm starving.
33:02Look at this VT.
33:03Look at this VT.
33:03Carry each other's burdens.
33:27And in this way,
33:29you will fulfill the law of Christ.
33:32Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2.
33:39I know the weight of everything feels really immense right now.
34:02The worry for Dad and the uncertainty of the ranch.
34:05And it's a heavy load.
34:12It is.
34:17But you can,
34:19you can hold on to this truth,
34:22enemy.
34:24The love that binds this family together,
34:26it's a force stronger than any storm.
34:28And I promise to share these burdens,
34:34not to let anyone carry it alone.
34:38It'll see us through.
34:40It will.
34:40I think I lost track of that myself today.
34:51We have to trust.
34:54We have to trust that God's hand is in this.
34:57Even if we can't see the path ahead.
34:59But that he's got a plan for each of us.
35:04For all of us.
35:09Just...
35:11I love my brother so much,
35:15and he pushes so hard.
35:16I know, I see it too, I know.
35:22Hey, Michael.
35:39Yeah, it's James.
35:41Well, hello, hello.
35:42I just had you in mind to give you a call and catch up.
35:44Well, looks like I beat you to it.
35:46Yeah, you certainly did.
35:48Well, listen, I'm not calling for any particular reason.
35:50I just wanted to check in,
35:52see how things are going.
35:53Oh, things are great.
35:54Yeah.
35:55Congregation misses you.
35:56How are things out there with you?
35:59To be honest,
36:00I'm struggling here across Whitspring.
36:04Oh.
36:05Well, I'm listening.
36:08I feel like I'm losing my way, Michael.
36:10Okay.
36:10I'm here for you, buddy.
36:11What is it?
36:12I mean, I'm practicing daily.
36:14My faith is strong.
36:15I'm just having a hard time balancing the needs of my family
36:18with the weekly duties of the church.
36:21It's just, I'm not serving my community.
36:24Well, listen,
36:25if you're talking about the duties here at the church here,
36:27it's been pretty light.
36:28So please, rest assured,
36:29if you need any more time,
36:30you should certainly take it.
36:31Well, thank you.
36:32That is reassuring.
36:34It's just hard,
36:35because I don't feel like I have my footing here.
36:36Back in Chicago,
36:37I'm not there for the people who have grown to rely on me.
36:39I just feel like I'm letting everybody down.
36:44Look,
36:44when God calls,
36:47he doesn't always demand that we reject one love for another,
36:50but he does ask that our heart be undivided.
36:53Whether it's in the tension between career and family,
36:56ministry and home life,
36:58tradition and transformation,
36:59it's hard when sometimes he asks us to walk a straight line between two sacred places.
37:09Maybe,
37:10I don't want to presume here,
37:12but God's asking you to decide what place do you think or feel that you could be the most service right here, right now.
37:19Well,
37:21if I could spend a few more weeks here,
37:24help them come up with solutions,
37:26get the ranch back on its feet,
37:28then I could return,
37:30focus on my weekly duties at the church,
37:31and have a clear head and a clear heart.
37:34Well,
37:35one foot in front of the other.
37:36One foot in front of the other.
37:40Thank you,
37:41Michael.
37:41I really appreciate this.
37:42I see the path now.
37:44Reach out anytime.
37:45One foot in front of the other.
38:15Comes out loud as praise.
38:18Teach me some melodious sonnet.
38:23Sung by flaming tongues above.
38:27Praise of Mount,
38:29fixed upon it.
38:32Mount of thy redeeming love.
