00:00Have you got what it takes to make it all the way to our final question and join the 1% Club?
00:16Anyone has a chance to win because this quiz isn't about how much you know,
00:19it's about how your brain really works.
00:21As all our questions are about logic and common sense.
00:24So who will make it to the end and answer a question only 1% of the country can get right
00:28and win up to £100,000.
00:32Let's play the 1% Club!
00:38And hoping to win tonight, it's our 100 players!
00:43So come on, give us a cheer if you think you've got what it takes to go all the way tonight.
00:49Lady in the front there, what's your name?
00:51Jasmine.
00:51Hello Jasmine, how are you?
00:53I'm great, thanks.
00:54You look spectacularly happy.
00:56Oh, thank you.
00:56Are you very confident?
00:58Fake it till you make it, isn't it?
00:59Is that what you do?
01:00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:01Yeah, my wife says that.
01:03And give me a cheer if you think you'll do badly tonight.
01:06Somebody up there, already defeated.
01:08What's your name?
01:09Lee.
01:09Oh, Lee.
01:10That's not a winner's name, is it?
01:11Not really.
01:13What do you do, Lee?
01:14I'm an engineer for an industrial door company.
01:16Oh, right.
01:17I make roller shutters.
01:19Right.
01:19And I'm into them.
01:20You're into them?
01:21Oh, yeah.
01:22Oh.
01:23I love a roller shutter, Lee.
01:25Are you auditioning to be on Wallace and Gromit?
01:29Whenever I go out with my wife, when we go shopping, I'll be looking at the shutters instead of the clothes.
01:34She's a lucky lady.
01:35She is.
01:36Why do you think you're going to do so badly?
01:37I keep having a recurring nightmare that I go out on the first question.
01:40Really?
01:41Yeah.
01:41Is that the ultimate fear, though?
01:42That I'm the only one who goes out on the first question, and then you just hear the boom, and it's me.
01:46Do you know what?
01:47I'm not tempted fate.
01:48This is genuinely true.
01:49We did a soccer aid special.
01:51I don't know if you saw it.
01:52Yeah.
01:52One person went out first round.
01:54Dermot Gallagher, the referee.
01:55Yeah.
01:56He was sat in that seat.
01:59But I'm sure it won't happen again.
02:02Good luck.
02:02So, I must really work on my pep talks, mustn't I?
02:06Okay, don't forget, you can play along at home if you want.
02:08All you have to do is download the app.
02:09Okay, before we ask our first question, here's a reminder of how the show works.
02:14We asked a cross-section of people from all over Britain a list of our unique questions.
02:18Based on their answers, we can tell statistically what percentage of the country should get each one right.
02:24Tonight, I'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants,
02:28beginning with the easier one that 90% of Britain got right,
02:31and ending with the most challenging question that only 1% of the great British public answered correctly.
02:37At the start of the show, every contestant is given a £1,000 stake.
02:41If they get any question wrong, they are out of the game,
02:43and the £1,000 is transferred to the 1% prize pot.
02:48Whoever gets the furthest in the quiz wins £10,000,
02:51and the chance to answer the final 1% question to win everything in the prize pot
02:55and take home up to £100,000.
03:01Right, let's get on with it. It's time for our first question.
03:05So, this is one that 90% of our survey got right,
03:08and let's see how you do in the studio.
03:12Which country is being spelt out here?
03:15And your time starts now.
03:20If you get this wrong, you'll be kicking yourself,
03:22and so will the rest of your family when you get home.
03:23OK, your time is up.
03:41Right, let's see who's lights stay on and are still in the game
03:44and how many people are out.
03:59We lost no-one.
04:00Let's have a look at the answer.
04:03China.
04:04Xin, for say, is China.
04:05Hey, Lee, I've got some great news for you.
04:10The good news is your nightmare has not come true
04:13because you're not out on the 90% question.
04:14Bad news is you could still be the first person out on the 80% question.
04:18But good luck.
04:19Another Lee, Lee Owen.
04:20I'm not only going to talk to the Lees tonight, don't worry.
04:22Lee Owen, where are you?
04:24Hello, Lee.
04:24How are you?
04:25Good, thanks.
04:26Good.
04:26That's a very brave shirt.
04:28What do you do, Lee?
04:31I'm an ICT programme manager,
04:33but my favourite job was when I used to work in a bakery.
04:35Oh, OK.
04:36Why is it such a good job?
04:37I used to be in charge of the muffin line.
04:39Right.
04:40Is that a euphemism or is that a genuine job?
04:42No, a genuine job.
04:44OK, what does the muffin line involve?
04:45So you had to sprinkle all the toppings on the muffins
04:49when they came along.
04:50Right.
04:50But you had different techniques.
04:52For sprinkling?
04:53For sprinkling, yeah.
04:54Show me.
04:54So you had the abracadabra
04:57for the chopper chips.
04:59OK.
05:00Liftoff
05:00for the blueberries.
05:02I've never seen anyone speak so passionately about muffins,
05:05but go on.
05:05You had the...
05:06Oh, yeah.
05:08For the jam.
05:08Oh, thank God.
05:09For the splat.
05:10Yeah.
05:10And you had the...
05:12Drop it like it's hot
05:13for the white chocolate.
05:15It didn't melt if you held it for too long.
05:16So you held the white chocolate
05:17and then you let it drop?
05:18Yeah.
05:19What about the dark chocolate or the milk chocolate?
05:20What was the technique for that?
05:21We didn't sell that one.
05:23You seem quite passionate about that.
05:25Why did you leave and go into IT?
05:26I got old.
05:28Is it a young man's game,
05:29muffin dropping?
05:29Yeah.
05:31Well done, everybody.
05:32It's very unusual that no one goes out,
05:33but you've all gone through.
05:34Well done.
05:38So there are still 100 people left in the game
05:40and the £1,000 of everyone who got the question wrong
05:43goes into the prize pot.
05:44I think we know what that's done to it.
05:45Let's have a look.
05:47So the good news is you're all in.
05:48The bad news is there's no prize.
05:50Right, it's time for the 80% question.
05:55So this is a question that 80% of the people we asked
05:57managed to get right.
05:58Let's see how you get on with this one.
06:01What popular nursery rhyme is missing its vowels?
06:04And your time starts now.
06:09This looks like Wales' most popular nursery rhyme.
06:12OK, your time is up.
06:31Let's see if you've got it right.
06:31Oh, we've only lost one of you there.
06:48Let's have a look at the answer.
06:50It's Bar Bar Black Sheep.
06:52So we have lost Sarah McKeever.
06:54Hello, Sarah.
06:55What did you put?
06:56I put Bar Bar Black Sheep.
06:58And then I deleted it.
06:59Oh.
07:00That's not a good idea.
07:01Because I thought it was a trick question.
07:03Why did you think it was a trick question?
07:05Well, do you know what I put?
07:07What?
07:07Mary had a little lamb.
07:11And I was running out of time.
07:13I am struggling to find any letters in there
07:15where that could possibly be true.
07:17I was running out of time.
07:18So you saw Bar Bar Black Sheep?
07:19I know.
07:20I'm sorry, I'm not helping, am I?
07:21I can't believe I'm the first one out.
07:23Yeah, Lee's happy.
07:26Who's waiting to find out how you're getting on?
07:28Hot Kev.
07:29Hot Kev?
07:30See, is he a person or a...
07:32Well, we only knew what his first name was when I met him.
07:36And then by the time we realised what his surname was,
07:39we were already introducing him as Hot Kev.
07:42Three years later, we're still calling him Hot Kev.
07:44That's how I introduce him.
07:46But then he gets a bit embarrassed.
07:48He's like, just Kev's fine.
07:49Well, at least he's got something else to be embarrassed about now.
07:53I'm joking, I'm joking.
07:55I'm joking.
07:56Let's see what that's done to the prize putt.
07:57Look, she's put £1,000 in the prize putt.
08:02Thank you, Sarah.
08:03Hot Kev will be delighted.
08:05Right, we're on to the 70% question.
08:09Let's have a look at it.
08:10If Mabel is married to Abe and Scarlet is married to Carl,
08:15who is Bianca married to?
08:17And your time starts now.
08:21I don't think they just all swap.
08:23It's 2025.
08:23No-one's going to judge them.
08:25I bet Hot Kev would get involved.
08:27OK, your time is up.
08:44Let's see who got it right.
08:45Right, we've lost seven people, though.
09:04Let's have a look at the answer.
09:06It's C, Ian.
09:07The men's names are hidden within the women's names.
09:11So Ian is in Bianca.
09:13I should have actually rephrased that.
09:15Oh, good.
09:18So someone who got that wrong is Matthew Broad.
09:21Where are you?
09:21Early.
09:22All right, Matthew, what did you put?
09:24Jeff.
09:25Jeff.
09:25Yeah.
09:26What was your logic?
09:27I just panicked.
09:29Yeah?
09:29What did you do in your spare time?
09:30Any hobbies?
09:31Play five-a-side.
09:32OK, any good?
09:34Well, I like to stop the ball in my face.
09:36That's pretty good.
09:38You're a goalkeeper?
09:39Yeah, yeah, goalkeeper, yeah.
09:40Why do you use your face?
09:41Have you not got any hands?
09:42I'm not quick with my hands.
09:43My face just goes.
09:44So your face is taking most of the hits?
09:46Yeah, yeah.
09:48You're a good-looking bloke.
09:49He doesn't look like you've been pummeled endlessly with a football.
09:51Thank you very much.
09:52I appreciate that.
09:53It's quite dark in here.
09:54Yeah.
09:56What would you have done with the money, Matthew?
09:57I would have bought a box at Villa Park.
09:59Are you an Aston Villa fan?
10:00I have.
10:01I've got a son called Aston, and my cat's called Villa.
10:03No, you haven't.
10:04I have, yeah.
10:05You've got a son called Aston.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Good job.
10:07He didn't support Arsenal.
10:09So, I'm lucky that.
10:10Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
10:15£8,000.
10:16Right, it's time for the 60% question.
10:24Right, let's have a look at it.
10:27If you reposition the digit shown below, what is the closest number to 5,000 you can get?
10:33OK, your time starts now.
11:06OK, your time is up.
11:07Let's see if you've got it right.
11:08MUSIC PLAYS
11:09Wow, we lost 14 people.
11:30Did someone clap the people that were out?
11:32Bit harsh.
11:33If you're in, you don't clap the people that are out.
11:36Yes, we've lost loads.
11:38We've lost 14 people there.
11:39Let's have a look at the answer.
11:424951, it is only 49 away, whereas 5149, which I suspect a lot of people put, is 149 away.
11:49Somebody who got it wrong is Elena Adigbly.
11:51Where are you?
11:51I'm over here.
11:52Hi.
11:52What did you put?
11:53I made a big mistake.
11:56You didn't put Barbara Blacksheep, did you?
11:57No, I didn't, but I saw the number.
11:59Even though it said 5,000, I read it.
12:01For some reason, it's 10,000.
12:02So I put 9541.
12:05Oh, OK.
12:06Yeah, so completely, yeah.
12:08So probably, as my maths are correct, couldn't have been further away.
12:12Unfortunately.
12:13Yeah, never mind.
12:14What do you do?
12:15I'm retired.
12:16Retired?
12:17Hmm.
12:18You look very young to be retired.
12:20That's very kind.
12:21Are you one of these people that are older than you look?
12:23Yes.
12:24I think I'm similar age to you.
12:26I don't like the provocative way you did that.
12:28LAUGHTER
12:29That was very sensual.
12:30I think I'm a similar age to you.
12:32I was expecting the whizz of the hair and it all come down.
12:34That's funny.
12:35All right.
12:36Well, that's lovely.
12:37You're 37 as well.
12:38So, I'm lucky.
12:39Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
12:43£22,000.
12:44Right.
12:45It's time for a quick break.
12:46We've lost 22 people here already.
12:47I hope you're doing OK at home.
12:48And don't forget, you can play along on the app.
12:49After the break, we'll be moving closer to seeing if anyone here can answer the 1% question.
12:54See you in a bit.
12:55Welcome back to the 1% Club.
12:56We started off with 100 people and now we are down to...
12:5978.
13:00The person who does best here tonight could be going home with up to £100,000.
13:14So, welcome to everyone who's still in the game.
13:15And from now on, we're going to give you the option to pay for a pass to the next question.
13:27And if you do, your £1,000 will be transferred to the prize pot.
13:30However, if you get as far as the 30% question without using your pass, you'll get the chance
13:35to take your £1,000 and lead the game.
13:37Right.
13:38It is time for the 50% question.
13:42Let's have a look.
13:44How many of these dancers have their left leg in the air?
13:48Your time starts now.
13:51It's time for you to have a bun ball!
14:18OK, your time is up.
14:22Is it just me thinking it would have been funnier if they'd have all been just stood next to a lamp post?
14:26LAUGHTER
14:28Let's see who got it right.
14:30MUSIC PLAYS
14:48Wow, that is a massacre.
14:55Were you lot listening when I said you had a pass?
14:58We've lost 22 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
15:02It's four. There they are in a red circle.
15:04So, Skye Fowler, where are you?
15:07Hi, Lee. We've lost a lot of people. You're one of many.
15:09What did you put, Skye? I'm fuming.
15:11I put six. Which were the ones that you... Did you get them four?
15:14All right, I panicked. Right.
15:16And then I went to check it again, and then I just pressed six, and I was like,
15:19oh, yeah, maybe. The first time... I had a pass, as well.
15:22But you were pretty confident with the six. No.
15:25So, why didn't you use the pass? I don't know. I panicked.
15:27Are you a competitive person, Skye? Oh, yeah, that's why I'm so cute.
15:30You do look genuinely angry. I'm so angry.
15:33Why didn't you use your pass? I'm so warm, I'm so mad. I don't know.
15:35Oh, well, never mind, Skye. Who are you going to tell when you get home?
15:38Who's waiting to find out? Well, my friend Molly is sat over there.
15:42Oh, you've come with somebody else? Yes, we've come together.
15:44Hello. Hello, how are you?
15:46Not happy. When did you go out?
15:48Did you go out on this one? Just this one, yeah.
15:50And did you come with any other friends today?
15:51Um, no, just me and Skye. Sky's the limit, I suppose.
15:56Er, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
16:01£59,000!
16:06OK, it's time for the 45% question.
16:10Let's take a look at this one.
16:11Let's take a look at this one.
16:13Daniel has an encyclopaedia set on his bookshelf.
16:15Each volume has the same width and the bookcase is completely full
16:19when all the volumes are upright on the shelves.
16:21How many has Daniel taken off the shelves to read?
16:24OK, your time starts now.
16:37OK, time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on.
16:50OK, time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on.
16:57Right, we lost 12 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
17:10HE EASTERS
17:16HE EASTERS
17:18Right, we lost 12 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
17:23It's six. And there they are.
17:25OK, someone who's got that wrong is Jane Todd.
17:29I'm here. What did you put, Jane?
17:31I put seven. Seven? That's annoying.
17:34I know I think I've been jinxed because someone's got the same top on as me
17:39In the room in the room. I am for human. I
17:43Could spot her now. So we have a shot of the woman in the same top
17:49Have you spotted her I have
17:51What shop did you get yours from new look in Tesco?
17:54What did you get it from you look at honest in Durham? Yeah, you both went for new look. Yeah, which is exactly the same look
18:01Are you the same from the waist down as well that sounded awful
18:08Listen unlucky Jane and also we lost Lucy Dodders great name Lucy Dodders. Hi. What did you put Lucy? I put eight
18:15Okay, I can't remember why okay? Well, probably because you thought there was two ball. Yeah, what do you do Lucy?
18:21I'm a children's nursing student. Okay. What do you do in your spare time Lucy? Go out dancing. Very nice. Yes
18:27I've got a signature move of you. Yeah, but you called the Poe the what the Poe would you like to show us the Poe?
18:34Yes, it's a Michael Jackson move. I'll show you my new friend Harris. I'm a new friend Simon. Okay, so
18:40Jimmy to get up and do it. You do but I don't think they do
18:44Okay, yeah, you put one hand on your head to one hand on your crotch. Yes, you go like this and you just go like this
18:50And then all my friends stand around me in a circle and go Poe Poe Poe
18:57Well, so Lucy
18:59Let's see what that's done to the prize pot
19:0370,000 pounds
19:05Okay, it's time for the 40% question
19:10Let's take a look at it
19:12Which of the statements below is correct and your time starts now
19:20Right it's time is up. That's who got it, right
19:50Right we lost nine of you on that one. Let's have a look at the answer
20:12Let's have a look at the answer
20:14It is C
20:16A is missing I, B is only missing one vowel, U
20:18All the vowels are used in C
20:20Let's talk to someone who got it wrong
20:22Paddy mystery. That is a good name
20:24Thanks. Where are you from Paddy mystery?
20:26Near Manchester
20:28Hang on. Haven't you also got the same top on as the other two ladies?
20:32This happened again
20:34What did you put for that one? I put B
20:36Was it a mistake or there was a logic?
20:37Just a mistake
20:38There was a lot of words to read
20:39There is a lot, isn't there?
20:40And it was only once the time had gone that I realised that C was the right one
20:44Unlucky
20:45Somebody's got it right is Emma Armstrong
20:47Where are you, Emma?
20:48No!
20:49You've got a very strong arm, haven't you?
20:50And what do you do, Emma?
20:51I work in finance
20:53I've done loads of jobs
20:54I used to work in a call centre
20:56I can't do that anymore
20:57Why?
20:58Too polite?
20:59No, so
21:00I was on the phone to some bloke
21:02And I said
21:04Oh, just give me a few seconds to look through your details
21:07So it was quiet
21:08And I assume he had his partner in the room with him
21:10But I didn't realise at the time
21:12And he said
21:14I love you
21:16And I
21:17He was obviously saying it to his partner
21:18But I didn't know what to do
21:19So I just went
21:20I love you too
21:21You didn't
21:22Why did you say that?
21:24Did you just instinctively?
21:25It just came out
21:26If someone says it to you
21:27You say it back, don't you?
21:28I love you
21:29I love you too
21:30Wow
21:31Instantly
21:32Never mind
21:33Listen, you're still in Emma
21:34Thanks
21:35OK, let's see what that's done to the prize pot
21:40£78,000
21:43Right, let's move on to the 35% question
21:46Here it is
21:48These three pictures each portray different four-letter words
21:52That all use the same four letters
21:54What four-letter word describes the middle picture?
21:58OK, you have 30 seconds and your time starts now
22:05Don't think of this as a question you will answer
22:07Think of it instead as prize money you, won't we?
22:09OK, time is up
22:10Right, let's see how you got it right and how many people are out?
22:11OK, time is up
22:12Right, let's see how you got it right and how many people are out?
22:13OK, let's see how you got it right and how many people are out?
22:14OK, let's see how you got it right and how many people are out?
22:35Right, we lost seven of you there, let's have a look at the answer
22:41It is SWAT
22:42Somebody who got it wrong is Gareth Bateman, where are you Gareth?
22:44Yeah, I'm B
22:45All right, Gareth
22:46Yeah, not really
22:47Well, what did you put?
22:48Puss
22:52Puss
23:09P-A-S-S
23:10That is annoying. What are you there Gareth?
23:12Firefighter
23:13Are you? Have you been on TV before, Gareth?
23:15Yeah, I have, yeah.
23:16Thought I recognised you. What have you been on?
23:17Release the Hounds.
23:18Release the Hounds? What's that?
23:20I think it's finished, though.
23:21Basically, you do some tasks in the forest
23:24with two of your friends.
23:25And how quick you do the tasks depends on
23:27how much head start you get from the dogs.
23:29Sorry, wait a minute. Just wait.
23:31You're telling me there's a TV show
23:34where you get tasks
23:36and then you have to run through a forest
23:38whilst dogs chase you?
23:39Yeah.
23:40What if the dogs catch you?
23:41They take you down, really.
23:42Attacks you?
23:43Yeah, down and then you're out.
23:45And you lose the money.
23:46And a limb?
23:47Yeah, yeah.
23:48What was your task?
23:49We got buried in a coffin alive before I was.
23:53What was this on?
23:54What channel was it on?
23:56ITV2.
23:57Some dark channel. Oh, ITV2.
23:58Yeah, ITV2.
23:59Oh, so you're probably naked as well.
24:01Wow.
24:02It was good. Good experience.
24:04Yeah, well, this is probably easy in comparison, right?
24:06Oh, yeah.
24:07Yeah, well, well done, Gareth.
24:08Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
24:1085,000 pounds.
24:14Thank you for a quick break.
24:16Well done to everyone still in the game.
24:17We'll see you in a bit when someone here could win up to £100,000.
24:21Welcome back to the 1% Club.
24:35We've been asking questions which have been tested out on a cross section of the British public.
24:39We've been whittling down the contestants here tonight and are left with 28 people with their lights still on.
24:45As a reward, any contestant who hasn't played their pass and still has the £1,000 now has a choice.
24:50Play on for the big money in the prize pot or you can take your £1,000 and leave the quiz right now.
24:55So, first of all, let's see which players still have the £1,000.
24:59OK, so those of you with your lights on, you can take your money and leave the show if you want.
25:05Make your decision right now.
25:07Right, so three of you have decided to take your £1,000 and leave the game, including Latte Lye.
25:26What made you take the money, Latte?
25:28I just wasn't confident that I'd go all the way. I've never done the 1% question before.
25:32Really? Yeah.
25:33Did you always plan when you came here and going when I get the grand?
25:35Yeah, 100%.
25:36So you were very happy on that last question.
25:38Yeah, yeah.
25:39Good stuff. What are you going to do with the money?
25:40I'm just going to have a baby soon, so my wife wants us to get, like, all the baby equipment.
25:44But I've never been to Liverpool and I'm a Liverpool fan, so I'm going to buy tickets.
25:49That started off such a beautiful story, but you're actually going to blow it on tickets for Liverpool instead.
25:54Yeah.
25:55Fair play. Maybe you can do both for £1,000, can't you?
25:57I want a nice seat, you know.
25:58OK, I'm trying to help you out, Latte, that's all I'm doing.
26:01Well done, you three. You've just taken away £1,000. Well done.
26:04APPLAUSE
26:09OK, so the rest of you have decided to play on.
26:11Let's see if that gamble will pay off and if any of you can go all the way and join the 1% club.
26:15Right, it's time for the 30% question.
26:18Let's take a look.
26:20Ken refuses to watch the weather forecast and just repeats wearing the same sequence of rainy weather outfit, cold weather outfit and sunny weather outfit starting on the first day of each month.
26:32What is the first day he will be dressed correctly for the weather in the week below?
26:37OK, your 30 seconds starts now.
26:40www.mike.br
27:10OK, your time is up.
27:12I always know when someone thinks they've got the right answer,
27:14because like the gentleman in the front there,
27:16he starts dancing during the 30 seconds.
27:18Right, let's see who got it right.
27:20MUSIC PLAYS
27:36Right, we lost three people on that one. Let's have a look at the answer.
27:39It is Saturday.
27:41Simon Parry, you didn't know it, did you?
27:43I did use my pass, and I worked it out probably one second
27:46after I pressed pass, so I was a bit disappointed in myself, actually.
27:50But still in.
27:51Never mind, that's what it's for.
27:52And have you got plans for the money?
27:53Well, my wife has.
27:55She has ordered me to have some kind of surgery to stop my snoring.
27:59What kind of surgery? You're having your nose removed?
28:01Who knows?
28:02What can you do? Can you have surgery for snoring?
28:04I don't know. Anything.
28:05Even if it's exploratory surgery, who knows?
28:08Have you tried the tape?
28:09I've tried everything, and it's not...
28:12If you put the tape over your wife's mouth,
28:14she can't sleep nagging about it.
28:15LAUGHTER
28:16Somebody who got it right is Shafaz Hashmi.
28:18Well done. Thank you.
28:20You're feeling... You were the one that was dancing, right?
28:22I saw you dancing, though.
28:23In the 30 seconds, you were using the music to dance to it.
28:27I just like to have a jig with a tune.
28:28You got it straight away. You were confident.
28:30Have you still got your pass? Yeah.
28:32That's good. You must be one of the favourites.
28:33You feeling confident?
28:35Um, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:37If I look up on the next question, you're not dancing.
28:39Does that mean you don't know?
28:40Yeah, it's over.
28:41Just intimidate everyone. Dance on everyone.
28:43Dance on the 1% question. That would be brilliant.
28:45Good luck, and let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
28:51£88,000.
28:53CHEERING
28:54Right, we are at the 25% stage now. It's getting serious.
28:57Here's the question.
29:01Let's have a look.
29:03This is an incomplete school timetable.
29:06Maths is taught before English, but cannot be taught before geography.
29:10History is the class just before lunch.
29:13What subject is taught in class five?
29:17The time starts now.
29:24OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
29:52MUSIC PLAYS
30:11Right, we lost five people. Let's have a look at the answer.
30:13It's English. History is just before lunch, so is class three.
30:17Geography has to be class one and maths class two,
30:20because we know maths before English, but not before geography.
30:23English can only be last.
30:25Somebody who got it right is Natalie Alibay.
30:27Hi. Natalie Alibay.
30:28That's a good name, Alibay. Thank you.
30:30Where were you last Wednesday?
30:32LAUGHTER
30:33Now, Natalie, you are one of only three people in this room
30:37that has a pass.
30:38I've got proper imposter syndrome.
30:40Literally, yeah.
30:41That was proper dramatic hand-women as well.
30:43LAUGHTER
30:44That's amazing, though.
30:45You are down to the 20% question with a pass,
30:48and only three people have a pass.
30:50How does that feel?
30:51All I've got...
30:52You know when the lady said the story about saying I love you at work?
30:55Yes. Yes.
30:56All I could think about was, years ago,
30:57one of the top bosses at work came to say something to me
30:59in a loud work party, and when she came to speak to me,
31:03she went to talk in my ear and I kissed her,
31:04thinking she was going to, like, kiss me hello,
31:07and it was really embarrassing.
31:08And that's all I could think of when she told her story,
31:10and that's in my head. And what did she do?
31:11Nothing, she just kind of looked at me and said, like, what are you doing?
31:13Was it very awkward?
31:14Very awkward.
31:15Well, good luck tonight.
31:17Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
31:18We're on the...
31:20£94,000.
31:22CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
31:24We've got 17 people still in the game,
31:26and we're down to the 20% question now.
31:31Let's take a look.
31:32What word is written out by the cards?

33:09Usually, it takes more than 30 seconds.
33:12Oh, OK.
33:13So, in that case... You don't get the 1% question right.
33:16What's on your shopping list if you win?
33:17I'm a big LEGO fan, so I like to do a lot of the LEGO,
33:20like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, F1.
33:23So I wanted to kind of go to the extreme with 100,000
33:26and try to build as big a LEGO building as I can make.
33:28OK. Well, I now speak on behalf of the nation, Harris,
33:30when I say, grow up.
33:33There's only one person in the room still with a pass,
33:35and that is Shafaz Hashmi, the only person.
33:39You know that makes you the favourite, right?
33:40APPLAUSE
33:44But just to make the others feel better, he stopped dancing.
33:47I've noticed this.
33:48I'm getting stressed. He's getting lost.
33:50OK, listen, good luck to you and all of you still in.
33:53Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
33:57£96,000.
34:00Right, getting very serious, we're getting close to the end,
34:02and it's time for the 15% question.
34:06Let's take a look.
34:09In this puzzle, different letters are represented
34:12by different patterns.
34:13Using the information below,
34:15what is the only three-letter word
34:17that can be read from left to right
34:20across consecutive boxes?
34:22Your 30 seconds starts now.
34:24With the
34:53OK, your time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on.
34:58MUSIC PLAYS
35:13Right, we just lost one person there.
35:15Let's have a look at the answer.
35:17It's tap.
35:18There they are, the three letters. T-A-P.
35:20Someone who got it right is Harry Waterhouse.
35:23Hello. Well done, Harry. Thank you.
35:25How quick did you get that? Reasonably quick.
35:27Obviously, the upwards lines aren't on the bottom,
35:29so there's only three in a row. Yeah.
35:31You say obviously, right?
35:32That's what annoyed me in rehearsal when I got it wrong,
35:35cos I was looking for the ones that don't appear.
35:38Yeah. I found that irritating. Oh, really?
35:40But you found it obvious? Unfortunately for you, yes.
35:42Yes. You're getting on my nerves.
35:44LAUGHTER
35:45What do you do? I am a chemical engineering student.
35:48What do you do in your spare time?
35:49Well, I work at JD and then I do kickboxing on the side.
35:53Kickboxing? Yeah.
35:54I might have said annoying. I mean, you're just...
35:56LAUGHTER
35:57Lovely lad. Good luck, Harry.
36:00Thank you very much. I could still have you, though.
36:02LAUGHTER
36:03Tina Fritchley. Hi.
36:04You're still with us? Yeah.
36:06Right next to kickboxing. What do you do?
36:08I'm an accounts clerk.
36:09Did you find that easy? Pretty easy, yeah.
36:11All right. Sorry.
36:13Er, how well do you think you'll do?
36:14Do you think you're going to go the whole way tonight?
36:15I've not got my pass, obviously.
36:17But, yeah, I... What did you use that on?
36:19The ballet question.
36:20Oh, the ballet one? Yeah.
36:21Yeah, I found that quite obvious.
36:23LAUGHTER
36:24Well, listen, good luck to you.
36:26And, just so you know, Shafaz has still got his pass.
36:30So, well done, Shafaz.
36:31CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
36:32He's not letting it go.
36:33APPLAUSE
36:34Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
36:37No change, of course, because you got the pass.
36:40CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
36:42Right, we are down to our last nine players.
36:44After the break, we'll find out which of our remaining contestants
36:47could go on to play the 1% question. See you in a bit.
36:49CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
36:56Welcome back to the 1% Club.
36:59We're very nearly at the point where we will discover
37:01who our winner will be.
37:02Now, here's how the end of the game works.
37:04Whoever does the best here tonight will win £10,000.
37:08But if they're feeling brave, they can risk their £10,000
37:10by trying to answer the 1% question.
37:12Get it right, and they will win everything in the prize pot,
37:14which is currently standing at...
37:16£96,000.
37:18CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
37:21And remember, Shafaz, because you still have your £1,000,
37:28you can pay for a pass, but you can't use it on the 1% question.
37:33But if you still got it at the 1% question,
37:35then you'll get to keep that £1,000 no matter what happens.
37:38Right, there are nine people left in the quiz,
37:40and it's now time for the 10% question.
37:43Let's take a look at this one.
37:45OK, let's take a look at this one.
37:48In your mind, picture a five-by-five grid of 25 squares
37:53with the letters of the alphabet running sequentially
37:56from left to right, starting with A in the top left
37:59and ending with Y in the bottom right.
38:03What letter is one square to the left of the furthest letter
38:07on the right on the middle row?
38:11OK, your time starts now.
38:15OK, your time is up.
38:45Right, let's see if you've got it right.
39:00We lost just one person, though. Let's have a look at the answer.
39:04It's N. There it is in the grid.
39:07Oh, no. We've lost Harry. Kickboxing Harry.
39:10Yeah. What did you put, Harry?
39:11I put O, but I originally, I then recounted went to O.
39:15Oh, no, you've changed it. That is gut-wrenching.
39:17Unlucky Harry, you did well to get this far.
39:19I feel so bad, I wouldn't even do the joke of going,
39:21I found it obvious. I'm not going to do that.
39:23Unlucky Harry.
39:25And one person still has their pass.
39:28It's Shafaz.
39:29APPLAUSE
39:31Now, obviously, the only person in the room with a pass means
39:34you are the favourite, there's no getting round it,
39:36but who, with their lights on, do you think is the threat to you, Shafaz?
39:41Oh, I do get an annoyingly confident vibe from this guy behind me.
39:45LAUGHTER
39:47That's a very honest... I like it when they're heckling each other.
39:50This is great.
39:51But, yeah, it's good that he gives a confident vibe.
39:53OK.
39:54I don't know, I feel like they could all be dark horses.
39:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:57Anyone you think hasn't got a chance with their lights?
39:58No, I'm joking.
39:59Well, listen, good luck, Shafaz, you've still got your pass,
40:01which means you're in a very good position.
40:03If you want, you can buy your way into the 1% question, whatever happens.
40:06We'll see what the question is, though.
40:08Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
40:11Nothing at all. OK, we saw £96,000.
40:14Harry had already used his pass.
40:16So, we are down to the 5% question.
40:21Remember, Shafaz, this is the last time you can use your pass, OK?
40:24Let's have a look at it.
40:27Below are two four-digit numbers with the digits in alternating order.
40:31What is the total when you add those two four-digit numbers together?
40:36The time starts now.
40:38.
41:08OK, time is up. Let's see if we've got it right.
41:30Right, we've lost five people. Bad luck. Well done for getting this far.
41:33Let's have a look at the answer.
41:35It's 5-5-5-5 and there's the maths to prove it.
41:38So we have our finalists. Congratulations.
41:41Haris Abassi, Simon Parry and Shafaz Hashmi.
41:46You've made it through to the 1% question. Come down and join me.
41:56Because you've done so well, I made it to our final question.
41:59You win a shirt of £10,000.
42:02But now you all face a dilemma.
42:04You can leave the show tonight and take your shirt, which works out at...
42:09...3,333.
42:11Or you can risk it all by attempting the 1% question.
42:14Get it right, you win your shirt of everything in the prize pot,
42:17which stands at...
42:21£97,000.
42:24Get it wrong, of course, you leave with nothing.
42:27Obviously, if one of you decides to play and gets it right,
42:29then you'll win all the prize pot.
42:31If more than one of you decide to play, you'll win a share of it.
42:34And just so you know, Shafaz, you didn't know the last one you used to pass, didn't you?
42:38I was a bit confused.
42:39You know, sometimes you think you know it, but then you get it wrong.
42:41You didn't want to risk it.
42:42Fair enough.
42:43So, unfortunately, you don't take your guaranteed £1,000.
42:45And also, if you look to your left, you'll find there's a slightly annoying confident
42:50vibes coming off.
42:52Because Harris has, in fact, made it to the final, as you sort of predicted.
42:55So, good luck to all three of you.
42:57So, now it's time to make your choice.
43:12OK, all of your lights are on, which means that you've decided to play on.
43:20So, after whittling down the contestants here in the studio,
43:24we are left with the 1% question.
43:28If you all get this right, you will win your share of the prize pot
43:31and become members of the 1% club.
43:34Good luck.
43:35This is your 1% question.
43:40You should always read the small print very carefully.
43:44How many errors are there in the T's and C's below?
43:49And your time starts now.
43:572.
43:583.
43:594.
44:005.
44:015.
44:025.
44:032.

44:063.
44:075.
44:085.
44:106.
44:116.
44:127.
44:13Right, your time's up.
44:25OK, your answers are locked in,
44:26so we may as well ask what you put,
44:28because you can't change them.
44:29We'll start with you, Shafaz.
44:31I don't want to go first.
44:33No one can change them, so it doesn't matter who we go first.
44:35I put five.
44:36You put five.
44:37OK, Harris, what did you put?
44:39I put three.
44:40You put five. I think it's wrong.
44:42OK, and Simon.
44:43What did you put?
