01:03A record heat wave enters its third blistering day in the city of Vicksburg, where temperatures soar to a high of 110 degrees shortly after noon today.
01:11The heat is causing some other problems too. A tremendous drain on the city's electrical power supply.
01:17And a spokesman for the utility company warned today that a widespread power failure may be imminent.
01:24Now turning to the sports world.
01:28Hey, what happened to the lights?
01:31Susan, get the flashlight and go check the fuse box.
01:34Right, Dad.
01:35Hey, there's no lights outside either.
01:38The fuses all seem okay, Dad.
01:42Come on, let's get some candles lit, Susan.
01:46Do you think it was a blackout like the man on TV said, Dad?
01:50That's very possible, Ben.
01:52I'll see if I can get some news on the transistor radio.
01:56And the blackout reportedly extends for a radius of 300 miles.
02:01Officials are urging citizens to remain calm and use their portable radios for further information.
02:08We'd better contact the chief on the emergency phone.
02:10He may need our help down in the city.
02:12This is XY230, rescue rangers calling MX411, Vicksburg Police Department.
02:18Awaiting further instructions. Over.
02:21I'm glad you called, Ben.
02:23We have a real mess down here.
02:25Our emergency units have more than they can handle.
02:28We need your help as soon as possible.
02:30Roger, Chief. We'll be there in less than an hour. Over and out.
02:34Okay, everybody. Let's get moving.
02:36Lassie, round up the rescue animals.
03:00Mgm.
03:02Mgm.
03:04ви Anir
03:21Mgm.
03:23All the animals are here except Toothless, Dad.
03:37He's probably still asleep in his cave.
03:39We can't wait.
03:40We'll have to leave without him.
03:43Hey, look at that.
03:45He's walking in his sleep.
03:49It's all right, Toothless.
03:50You were walking in your sleep, that's all.
03:53Come on, Susan, we've got to get underway.
03:55Okay, Mom.
03:56Let's go, Toothless.
03:57We're flying to the city.
04:16Whoa, I can't believe it.
04:18The whole city is blocked out.
04:20And by the looks of those jammed up cars down there,
04:22I'll bet everything is in a turmoil.
04:24I'm sure glad we're flying over it.
04:26Ben, this is Chief Hill.
04:27Do you read me?
04:28Over.
04:30Loud and clear, Chief.
04:31We're over the city now.
04:33You're just in time.
04:34We really need your help down here.
04:36There's a massive traffic jam at the intersection of Hill and Broadway.
04:40See what you can do, will you, Ben?
04:41We don't have much experience in traffic control,
04:43but we'll do what we can, over and out.
04:46That's the worst traffic jam I've ever seen.
04:49How are we ever going to get those cars moving, Dad?
04:52That's a good question, Jackie.
04:54The only way we'll find out is to get down there amongst them.
04:57See if you can find an empty side street to land on, Laura.
05:00Roger.
05:14What is it?
05:15Lassie, what's down there?
05:16Jackie, what's wrong?
05:18I think someone's breaking into one of those stores down the alley.
05:21Looks like a looter, all right.
05:23Chief, this is Ben, over.
05:25Go ahead, Ben.
05:25We spotted a looter entering a store along 58th Street.
05:29Can you send a patrol car?
05:31Over.
05:31There's none available at the moment, Ben.
05:33See if you can keep him under wraps until my boys get there.
05:36Roger.
05:37Jackie, you and Lassie come with me.
05:39Gene Fox, see if you and Susan can do something about that traffic jam.
05:43We'll join you as soon as we can.
05:45Right, Mr. Turner.
05:48Okay, let's go.
05:50Boy, Dad was right.
05:52Directing traffic is a real bummer.
05:54What's the matter with you, buddy?
05:56You nuts or something?
05:59The front end of my new truck is all bashed in.
06:02Let me see your license.
06:04Excuse me, but could you fellas please move your vehicles off to one side?
06:08You're blocking traffic in both directions.
06:11Beat it, kid.
06:12This is none of your business.
06:14Hey, what do you think you're doing, mister?
06:16We're in charge of this.
06:18I said get out of here.
06:19Now get.
06:20That goes for both of you.
06:22He can't get away with that.
06:24I'm going to call Dad, Gene Fox.
06:26He'll take care of him.
06:27Wait, Susan.
06:28I've got a better idea.
06:30Here, Toothless.
06:31Come here, boy.
06:32Good idea, Gene Fox.
06:34What's the matter?
06:35You two forget what I told you already?
06:37I'm going to give you five seconds to get out of my sight.
06:40One, two, three...
06:43Now, Toothless.
06:47A mountain lion.
06:48Yeah.
06:50He's still in there.
06:52Let's sit tight until he comes out.
06:54Dad, I've got an idea on how we can flush him out of there.
06:59Do your stuff, musty.
07:04Hey, Skook!
07:05Skook!
07:06Let me out of here!
07:07Hold it right there, mister.
07:13Stop him, lassie!
07:17Get him away from me!
07:19I won't run!
07:21That a girl, lassie.
07:23You too, musty.
07:24You make a great team.
07:27Chief, this is Ben.
07:29We've nailed the looter.
07:30Awaiting further instructions.
07:32Over.
07:32Good job, Ben.
07:34We have a patrol unit rolling to your location now.
07:37Roger.
07:41Can you help us?
07:43Yes, sir.
07:44What's the problem?
07:45My wife's going to have a baby,
07:46and I'm afraid we won't make it to the hospital in time
07:48because of the traffic.
07:50I'll call a helicopter, and they'll fly you in.
07:52Rescue one.
07:53Rescue one.
07:54This is Susan.
07:55Over.
07:56This is rescue one.
07:58Go ahead, Susie.
07:59Report to intersection Hill and Broadway.
08:01Emergency.
08:02We've got to get a woman here to the hospital on the double.
08:04Roger.
08:05We'll be there in three minutes, Susan.
08:19It'll be all right, honey.
08:21We'll get you to the hospital in no time.
08:22Just try and relax a little bit.
08:24Everything's going to be fine.
08:25Man, we just got her there in time.
08:44Another couple of minutes.
08:45He sure was a beautiful little baby.
08:48What did I look like when I was a baby, Mom?
08:50Oh, you were beautiful too, Ben.
08:52And you still are.
08:54Wonder how Dad and Jackie are making out with that traffic jam.
08:57I have a feeling we'd better rescue them.
08:59They've been there over an hour.
09:01Rescue one, come in, please.
09:03Over.
09:03Go ahead, Ben.
09:04Come and pick us up.
09:05On the double.
09:06Corner of Spring and Barkley.
09:08Roger.
09:08And I'm afraid traffic at that intersection is more jammed up than ever, Chief.
09:16We just couldn't handle it.
09:18Sorry.
09:19Don't worry about it, Ben.
09:21I don't think anyone could have unraveled that mess.
09:23But there is another problem we need your help on.
09:26Shoot.
09:27When the power went out, so did the subway trains.
09:30And now we've got a lot of people wandering around in those tunnels.
09:33We've got to get them out.
09:35Roger.
09:35Talk to you later.
09:36Let's go.
09:38Okay, kids.
09:43This shouldn't be too much of a problem.
09:45All we have to do is find the people down there and lead them out.
09:50Hey.
09:51What's wrong with Lassie?
09:52I don't know.
09:53But she's trying to tell us something.
09:55Toothless.
09:56He's gone.
09:57Come to think of it, I haven't seen him since before we took that lady to the hospital.
10:02Oh, no.
10:03That means he's probably lost somewhere in the city.
10:06We've got to find him.
10:07He doesn't know the city like he does the forest.
10:10Okay, we'll have to split up.
10:12Jackie and Gene Fox come with me.
10:14Laura, take Susan, Ben, and Lassie to look for Toothless.
