00:21Greetings, colleagues of Telesur.
00:23I'm reporting from Beijing to bring you the news that during the APEC Economic Leaders Summit in South Korea,
00:32China reaffirmed its commitment to open and share growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
00:40Professor Liu Baicheng from the University of International Business and Economics,
00:46who accompanied the Chinese delegation, highlighted that the President Xi Jinping
00:52emphasized regional integration, multilateralism, technological innovation, and sustainable green development.
01:02He gave us an exclusive interview that you see as follows.
01:07President Xi reiterated the importance of integration and connectivity
01:14against the backdrop of growing fragmentation and unilateralism.
01:21So therefore, for Asian Pacific to continue to maintain the momentum of further growth,
01:28first, we need to enhance the trust level of each of the economies
01:35so that we'll be able to formulate certain values and rules that can be shared among all the stakeholders.
01:47Liu Baicheng highlighted that China supports small and medium enterprise and regional commerce,
01:55as well as promoting and technological training for young people and women.
02:00The multilateralism is being now endangered, particularly as WTO is getting more of an impulse, if not paralyzed.
02:12And now regional integration is taking its place, at least to be able to compensate some of the deficiencies
02:20of the bigger multilateral trading system.
02:24And now within IPEC, there is a strong need for us to really to come down to a rule-based operation in which all businesses
02:37can really be able to make a rational decision based on a stabilized and predictable business environment.
02:46The professor concluded that China's leadership is key to consolidate the Asia-Pacific region as a space for cooperation and shared prosperity.
02:59With this news, we return to the studios in La Habana, Cuba.
