00:00...of the Honourable Dato' Sri Muhammad Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Defence Malaysia,
00:06Malaysia's ADMM Plus leader, together with the Heads of Delegation of the ASEAN Defence Minister's Meeting Plus.
00:17ASEAN's vision has always extended far beyond Southeast Asia.
00:23That is precisely why the ADMM Plus exists.
00:30To give ASEAN a voice on global security issues and to better understand the evolving landscape beyond this region.
00:44With direct participation of partners from across the world, we engage, exchange and contribute our perspective.
00:54This forum allows us to state clearly that this region remains a zone of peace, freedom and neutrality,
01:06not a stage for strategic rivalry.
01:12Guided by ASEAN's centrality, our regional security architecture must remain ASEAN-led,
01:19inclusive and rooted in dialogue, consensus and respect for international law.
01:31The ADMM Plus is not a stage to avoid difficult discussion,
01:37but a space to confront them with honesty, respect and a shared sense of purpose.
01:49To our partners, the message is clear.
01:55Keep engaging ASEAN through our values, our principles and our commitment to peace.
02:05Respect the norms we have built, honour your commitments and uphold the enduring spirit of the treaty of amity and cooperation.
02:20Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen,
02:22Ladies and gentlemen, today the world faces challenges that transcend borders,
02:28from cyber attacks to climate shocks, from food insecurity to pandemics.
02:35Powerful non-state actors in the cyberspace are capable of disrupting societies,
02:40dismantling critical systems and even destabilizing government.
02:49At the same time, climate change and natural disasters test our resilience every day.
02:57These challenges are not distant.
03:00They are happening now and they demand urgent action.
03:06That is why our unity and cooperation through the ADMM Plus are more vital now than ever.
03:13Together, we can respond, adapt and safeguard the security and prosperity of our region in unity and synergy.
03:25Above all, there is one thing we must uphold, the international law.
03:34Every nation, large or small, must stand firmly against violations of international law and humanity.
03:43Malaysia expresses our deep concern over the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and Palestine,
03:52where starvation and deprivation are being used as weapons of war.
03:57Malaysia encourages all nations, especially major powers, to exercise their influence in accordance with the international law.
04:07In this context, Malaysia welcomes the United States comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
