Watch this breathtaking clip capturing a researcher’s reaction to spotting one of the most striking butterflies on Earth.
George Clancy Lester, 26, filmed the moment whilst exploring the Peruvian Amazon with fellow naturalist Nick Volpe.
The clip shows a rare Agrias Claudina butterfly flashing its vibrant blue, red and black wings before disappearing into leaf-like camouflage.
Describing it as a once‑in‑a‑lifetime, George explained that he was in “pure shock and joy” in the moment.
Sharing the video online, viewers were left amazed by the breathtaking insects and moved by Nick and Clancy's reaction.
