00:04Today we're talking about the new BMW R12GS,
00:07which is being launched as a modern Enduro in the style of the legendary R80GS.
00:13According to BMW, many fans have been eagerly awaiting this model.
00:18With its standard flat solo seat and a seat height of 86 cm with a 17-inch rear wheel,
00:24or 88 cm with an 18-inch rear wheel in the Enduro Package Pro,
00:28it offers optimal conditions for a real feeling even when standing.
00:34Those who want to ride with a passenger can opt for the optional pillion package,
00:39which includes a seat for two people.
00:41The rally seat, on the other hand, raises the seat height by 20 mm.
00:46Two standard steel eyelets on the rear frame serve as practical lashing points.
00:51The basic version of the R12GS is equipped with a footrest system that is primarily intended for
00:57road use, but thanks to its serrated profile, is also ideal for off-road use.
01:04The Enduro Pro Package includes a special Enduro footrest system with three rows of teeth
01:09and a larger contact surface for optimal grip off-road.
01:14The tapered aluminum tubular handlebars can also be individually adjusted.
01:18The Enduro Package includes a 20 mm handlebar riser.
01:23The heart of the new BMW is the air and oil-cooled boxer engine with 170 cc displacement,
01:31101 mm bore and 73 mm stroke.
01:35It delivers 109 horsepower at 7,000 revolutions per minute.
01:39Maximum torque of 115 newm is reached at 6,100 revolutions per minute.
01:45The exhaust system is laid out in the classic left-hand direction and terminates in a high-mounted
01:51rear silencer.
01:53The R12GS is already equipped with the riding modes Rain, Road and Enduro.
01:59Dynamic traction control ensures safe acceleration and can be completely deactivated off-road.
02:05Engine drag torque control is also fitted as standard.
02:09The Shift Assistant Pro is available as an option and allows upshifting and downshifting
02:14without using the clutch or throttle, with virtually no interruption in traction,
02:18resulting in greater dynamics and comfort.
02:21The basis is a one-piece tubular steel bridge frame,
02:24combined with a bolted rear frame made of tubular steel.
02:28For the R12GS, the steering head section was made higher and further forward.
02:34In contrast to the road-oriented R12 models, the GS Vion,
02:39with its 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, focuses on off-road capability.
02:45With the Enduro Package Pro, the rear wheel can be enlarged to 18 inches.
02:51Another highlight is the long suspension travel.
02:54At the front, there is a fully adjustable upside-down telescopic fork
02:58with a 45 mm plunge diameter and 210 mm travel.
03:02At the rear, a directly pivoted, angled shock absorber
03:07with 200 mm travel, travel-dependent damping, and extensive adjustability.
03:14Braking is provided at the front by double-disc brakes
03:17with two-piston floating calipers and a diameter of 310 mm.
03:21At the rear, a single-disc brake with a two-piston floating caliper
03:25and a diameter of 265 mm engages.
03:30BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, which is standard, ensures additional safety
03:34and provides reliable support even when leaning.
03:37Other standard equipment includes a central circular instrument,
03:41a 12-volt socket in the cockpit,
03:44a compact circular LED headlight with a distinctive light signature,
03:48as well as LED indicators and warning lights.
