00:00Welcome to the video from the CarMagazine Tuning Blog on the topic of the Porsche 911 GT3 Rupees.
00:12As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:18Porsche and Michelin have jointly developed a new tire that was specially designed for use on the racetrack in wet conditions and low temperatures.
00:26The Michelin Pilot Sport S5 makes it possible to significantly extend the track day season and is an optimal solution for changeable weather conditions.
00:39At Porsche, the precise coordination of all components plays a key role, which is why the company has been developing tailor-made tires for its vehicles with selected partners for decades.
00:50The new Michelin Pilot Sport S5 is designed for the Porsche 911 GT3 Rupees of the 992 Series and is a street-legal alternative to the previous ultra-high-performance tire, the Pilot Sport Cup 2R.
01:06According to Andreas Preuninger, head of GT vehicles at Porsche, this tire was developed to meet the needs of performance-oriented customers who want to use their vehicle on the racetrack even in cooler temperatures.
01:21The Michelin Pilot Sport S5 carries a special NK marking that identifies it as a tire specifically approved for Porsche.
01:28Thanks to its optimized rubber compound and special tread pattern, it offers exceptional performance even in cooler temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius.
01:41Especially on wet racetracks, it ensures improved vehicle control and greater safety reserves.
01:49Development of the new tire began in 2022, with numerous test kilometers completed on the grounds of the Michelin Development Center in Ladu.
01:58Porsche brand ambassador Georg Bergmeister contributed his experience as a factory driver to fine-tune the tire.
02:09A key development goal was to improve aquaplaning behavior, for which the tires feature four 7.4mm wide grooves in the central area of the tread.
02:21This design increases the negative tread ratio and enables more efficient water drainage.
02:26According to Michelin developer Matho Greco, the tire thus improves the vehicle's stability and increases speed because of the aquaplaning that occurs.
02:37The high silica content in the rubber compound also ensures better grip on wet surfaces and faster warm-up to operating temperature.
02:46The material composition and geometry of the carcass have also been optimized.
02:51The improved contact area ensures more precise handling and better feedback to the driver on both straights and corners.
03:00The result of this further development is greater safety reserves and faster lap times.
03:10Compared to the Porsche 911 GT3 rupees with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2N,
03:16Michelin test drivers achieved a lap time more than 10 seconds better on a 2.8km watered track at the development center.
03:23But the new tire is not only impressive on wet roads.
03:29To ensure the widest possible range of applications, the Michelin Pilot Sport S5 was also tested in dry conditions,
03:37including on the Nürburgring and in Portimao, Portugal, at temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.
03:42This demonstrated that the tire offers a high degree of precision and driving stability even outside of its intended area of use.
03:53It is an ideal option, particularly for track enthusiasts who also use their vehicles on a daily basis.
04:00Another strength of the Michelin Pilot Sport S5 is its high level of wear resistance.
04:05It is approved for road use and meets all legal requirements with regard to rolling resistance and noise development.
04:14The product will initially be launched exclusively on the Porsche 911 GT3 rupees with dimensions of 277mm on the front axle and 335mm on the rear axle.
04:26It will be sold exclusively through MTAI, the performance specialist for Porsche GT models based at the Nürburgring.
04:35Was the information on the Porsche 911 GT3 rupees interesting?

05:00We here in Klamant Farron today at the Michelin Test Center and we here to try out the new Michelin Pilot Sport S5.
05:10Definitely a lot more grip compared to the standard tire.
05:13Proper rain tire.
05:14Real focus on driving in the rain.
05:18Compared to the standard tire definitely different thread pattern.
05:21The whole layout of the tire is focused on wet conditions.
05:24The transitional behavior of the tire is astonishing.
05:37It's a lot easier to know where the limit is super easy hand and general level small TR over seconds quicker standard.
05:48Such a different game.
05:54I definitely feel more confident with this tire in the rain and I think in general you can lob more safety reserves compared to standard.
